Chapter 10 Mended

The white lights blinded me as I opened my eyes. The white ceiling shook a little until my eyes got used to the bright room with white walls, which I recognized as the infirmary. I had a major headache and there were bandages wrapped around my stomach, leg and head. My body was still aching but it didn't hurt as much as it did when Natsu and Bora were fighting.

Natsu.

I remember him picking me up, but after that, everything was blank. He fought with Bora and Bora got him a couple of times. Worry and guilt washed over me. It's my fault if he's hurt. Even though we had a fight, I still cared for him and I must admit that I missed him. He saved me, that has to mean that he still cares for me too, right? Suddenly, I heard a soft snore. I noticed that my right hand was a lot warmer than my left, and I looked to the right. A head was placed on the mattress just below my shoulder and Natsu's pink locks tickled my arm. How did I not notice? My eyes followed his muscular arm, which was on the bedside, to the source of the unusual but very pleasant warmth. My cheeks turned crimson. Natsu's strong fingers were laced with mine and his big hand held mine in place gently.

He's so warm...

Argh! Stop thinking like that! Bad Lucy! I shook my head violently. A small smile made its way to my lips. He must have been here all the time that I was unconscious. I started stroking his hair with my free hand, and the softness of his spiky locks amazed me. I brushed his bangs from his forehead and he stirred before moving his head in the direction of my hand with a content snore. I Always felt a certain... tingling feeling in my stomach whenever he was near. His presence made me feel happy and I loved the feeling he gave me. I felt safe around him. I waved my fingers through his locks while my gaze was focused on his sleeping face.

He looks so cute when he sleeps...

No, Lucy! You can't think about him like that! But it is true, the way his locks covered his forehead, the way his lips are slightly parted and a little bit drool started to form in the corner of his mouth, the way his cheeks bolled as he breathed... Lucy, baka! My thoughts were interrupted when the door opened, and Natsu jolted awake. The moment Levy stepped into the small room, her eyes landed on my hand, which was still tangled in Natsu's hair. He seemed to notice it too. I quickly retreated my hand and a dark blush covered my cheeks. Natsu sent me a wide grin.

"You're awake!" Levy said, with a big grin plastered on her face. She rushed towards me and wrapped her small arms around me. I tried to hug her back, but I couldn't move my right hand. Natsu's cheeks turned pink when realization hit him and he quickly let go of my hand. I laughed softly, and he looked at me from the corners of his eyes, his eyes shining and burning with happiness. His cheeks were still tinted a light pink. He looked so cute that way.

"How are you feeling?" Levy asked and I shrugged.

"I'm fine." My voice was a little hoarse. "How long was I out?"

"A couple of hours, classes are over." My mouth dropped.

"And you're still here."

"Of course, we wouldn't leave a friend all by herself." Natsu chimed in, smiling at me.

"Natsu.." I muttered. He looked at me expectandly.

"Th-thanks," I added, a nervous blush appearing on my cheeks.

"For what?"

"You know... saving me." I said nervously. Why was I so nervous all of a sudden?.

"Anytime." His smile changed into a frown. "Bora got you pretty good."

"What was the reason he went all out. He beats many pupils up, but as far as I know, he never went this far." That's when I remembered. Tears welled up in my eyes, threatening to fall, but I couldn't care less. Bora's father... killed my mother... because of money. And it's my fault. My father was right all the time. Every time he yelled it at me, he was right.

"Lucy?" Natsu looked at me, worry clear in his eyes. Natsu... he didn't know any of this. I looked at Levy , pleading with my eyes. She understood.

"Natsu, can you come with me for a sec?"

"Why?" He raised his eyebrows.

"I need to talk to you about something"

"Is it that important?" He clearly didn't want to leave me here all by myself, and that warmed my heart. Even though he was the densest person I know, he could be so sweet.

"It is." He shifted his gaze between me and Levy a couple of times before sighing and standing up to follow Levy.

"Be right back, Luce." My stomach jumped by the use of the nickname he gave me. The door closed and I was left alone with my thoughts. I didn't come far, though, because the door opened and someone ran inside. The white haired girl with blue eyes as big as saucers ran up to me and closed me in her arms.

"L-Lisanna." I gasped.

"Lucy! Oh my god! Look at you! What happened?" Her voice was laced with worry.

"I was...bullied."

"Bullied? You call this bullying? Who did this?"

I ignored her question. "Why are you here?"

"I was searching for you because you were going to have lunch with us. I thought you ditched me." she pouted. I blushed.

"I saw Natsu and Levy, so I asked where you were and they said in here. I was so worried!"

"You were... worried?" I asked.

"Yeah, of course! Who wouldn't worry when their friend is in the infirmiry?" She exclaimed.

"Friend? I am your friend?"

"Of course you are, silly! What did you think?" She laughed.

"I.. uhmm." My blush intensified and Lisanna laughed harder. I really liked her. I was saved when Natsu and Levy came back, and I probably looked very relieved, because Lisanna was still giggling. Natsu didn't say anything about what Levy just told him, and I was happy about that, I could see somethng in his eyes though. Like he was familiar with the pain I knew so well.

"Hey, Lis." Natsu said and I raised my eyebrows.

"You two know each other?" Now that I think about it, I think I saw Natsu talking with her in class sometimes.

"Yup, we're childhood friends," Lisanna said. Levy awkwardly coughed. "Could we have a minute please, Lisanna?"

She nodded. "Sure. Take care Lucy. Bye Natsu, Levy. See you around." She turned around just before exiting the doorway.

"Oh and Lucy, I'm still having lunch with you another time." Both Levy and Natsu shot me a questioning look and I blushed under all the attention. I quickly nodded and Lisanna left, satisfied. Silence filled the room. Natsu looked at me with uncertain eyes.

"It's OK," I assured him. It felt strange, reassuring him.

"Can you tell us why Bora did this now?" His words reverberated in my head again.

"Can we please talk about that another time?" I was able to smile after what I heard, and I wanted to keep it that way. I would have never been able to push it away like this before I met Natsu and Levy. I must admit, I was very proud of myself that I was able to handle this so well, and I knew that if they knew, they would be too. I think mom would be too.

"Sure." Levy nodded understandingly. "I have to return books to the library so I'll go now, but I see you tomorrow, Lu-chan." She smiled brightly before leaving me and Natsu.

"Luce," he said after a moment of silence.

"It's OK, really." I interrupted him and it was silent again for a while.

"Why didn't you tell me?" He sounded insecure,

"I wasn't ready." I simply confessed and again, I got the feeling that he knew exactly what I meant.

"You trust me, right?"

"Of course I do" I smiled at him and that seemed to ease the mood. He grinned at me. Suddenly, the nurse walked in. She had sallow pink hair and she looked old. She started checking my condition without saying a word, a scowl present on her face.

"Does this hurt?" She pressed her fingers on my wounded stomach. I flinched.

"A little."

"Stupid humans" She muttered. "It takes far too long for them too heal. You have been laying here for far too long. Get out of here now, but you have to come back tomorrow." The last two sentences were for me and I was a little taken aback by her coldness.

"Nice to see you too, Porlyusica." Natsu said.

"Don't start with me, Dragneel," Porlyusica threatened. "I'm not in the mood."

Natsu shrugged. "You're never in the mood."

"Dragneel..."

"Porlyusica."

"Argh! I hate humans! Now get out of here before I throw you out!" She yelled angrily and I gulped.

"I would do as she says, she isn't kidding." I think he has some experiance. Why is someone who hates humans even a nurse in a school? I dediced to make a run for it instead of asking, since she was eyeing a chair rather... devilishly.

"Thank you, Porlyusica-san!" I squeaked.

"At least the girl has some manners, unlike that Dragneel brat.."

"Hey!"

"Go away!"

"Are you going to be OK?" Natsu asked. We had reached my mansion.

"I'm fine." I nodded and he smiled at me. He was about to walk away when I called him.

"Natsu?"

"Yeah?"

"What about that playdate?" A wide grin made its way to its face.

"I'll pick you up at seven." With that, he turned around and walked away, leaving me with a crimson red face.

Natsu's POV

I Just can't stop thinking about how soft her hands were and how nice it felt when she was playing with my hair. She gave me this tingling feeling inside of my stomach. It was weird and foreign, but I kind of liked it. Ah, what the hell, I'm hungry!

If only she had known I was awake all the time..

Yaaayyy! A lot of NaLu! Love it! FoodForTheImagination had asked for some fluffiness, so here's a bit of it! :) (With NaLu, I love it too.) By the way, I'm not a Lisanna hater (although she better not steal Natsu from Lucy!) But due to all the fanfics I read, I'm getting a pretty bad image of her, haha. Does anybody know if Natsu was in love with her. In the episode that you get to see their history, he's like blushing all the time! (which annoys me, a lot) I keep telling myself he didn't have a crush on her because I want him with Lucy, but I don't know if that's true. Yup, my fangirl side is crawling to the surface. I can be a real psycho when it comes to NaLu :). Lisanna will not interfere in Natsu and Lucy's relationship in this fanfic author note is kinda long (and boring) So I'm gonna end it here. Please review! I'd love to know what you guys think!
