The next day at school things were kinda...Awkward. The three boys tried to avoid each other at all costs, until lunch that is, webby was with her friends and Louis didn't really want to bother her so he sat at the same table as Dewey and Huey.
"So we're not going to talk about it?"Dewey asked.
"What's there to talk about?"Huey asked.
"Well how are you guys holding up?"Dewey asked.
Both Huey and Louie shrugged.
"Come on, surely you want to say something"Dewey said.
"Well it isn't like I didn't already know"Louie said "Scrooge was completely honest, he thought Della was dead though..."
"At least your parents were honest with you"Huey said "My mom and dad lied to me this whole time"Huey argued.
"Well at least you were wanted!"Louie shot back.
"Guys I didn't mean fight about it!"Dewey yelled.
Huey rolled his eyes"Oh please, at least you actually knew her, you never had to question anything!"
"That's where your wrong!"Dewey said "My mom wasn't exactly honest with me either but that doesn't mean I go around hating everyone!"
"Guys please is this really necessary?"Louie asked, "We're brothers"
"Oh now we're brothers?"Dewey asked "You refused to take us seriously before!"
"I'm sorry ok? It's not like your stupid 'Blood Brothers' thing was real anyway"Louie said.
"That's it! I don't know why I was ever friends with you jerks!"Dewey yelled leaving. Huey and Louie left the opposite directions.
Things would only go downhill from there, Louie looked online for this new school policy to see if there was actually a loophole, there's always one.
He heard a knock at the library door, "Come in"Louie said.
Scrooge walked inside "Lad? I just-"
"Don't bother"Louie interrupted "Thanks for being honest the whole time, I'm not mad"Louie said reassuringly "Can we just move on from this?"
"Sure"Scrooge said "Uhm what are you doing?"
"I wanted to see if there was another way, and there is, I can do school completely online.I hate public school and I never want to see it again"Louie said.
"And this has nothing to do with Della does it?"Scrooge asked.
"No, I'm over it"Louie said.
"And what about yer brothers?"Scrooge asked.
"I don't think we're going to be friends anymore"Louie said.
"is this really what you want?"Scrooge asked.
"Yes, more then anything"He said.
Scrooge sighed nodding his head "Alright lad".
Huey came back home (He had nowhere else to go) He just locked himself in his room until it was time for dinner, it was pretty awkward sitting at the table with his 'Mother', 'Father' and Molly...nobody said a word until Molly decided to break the silence "So now that Huey isn't your real son does that mean I'm your new favorite?"She asked.
"Molly there's a difference between biological and real"Margret said.
Huey scoffed "Yeah for example real families don't lie to each other".
"Huebert!"Margret yelled.
"Just being honest and explaining to my dear sister what a family is"Huey said.
"Hubert, i dont know where this disrespectful attitude came from-"
"Well clearly not from you right?"Huey asked.
henry finnaly spoke up "Huebert."
"Ive had it up to here"Margret interupted.
"Maybe you should have bought dewey instead!"Huey yelld.
"Go to your room!"Margret demanded.
"With pleasure!"Huey stomped upstairs slamming the door.
"I better go talk to him"Margret said.
"No!"Henry interrupted "Ill do it"He walked upstairs to Huey's room and knocked on the door.
Huey didn't answer, he was just reading a new book he borrowed from the library, Henry walked in "Huebert?"
Huey couldn't answer, he didn't care who it was.
"Hubert what you said down there was really disrespectful, we taught you better then that"Henry said.
"Da- I- look If your going to punish me just do it, I don't care anymore"Huey said.
"I don't understand, what's going on just tell me!"
"I can't!"Huey yelled.
"Why Henry asked.
"Because...you and mom lied to me for sixteen years and I'm just supposed to be ok with it?"Huey asked.
"I know what you mean"Henry said.
"Really? Did your parents lie to you too?"Huey asked.
"No but my wife did"Henry sad.
"wait, what?"Huey asked,all he got in return was a silent nod "...you didn't know?"Huey asked, Henry shook his head, "So you just found out that all along I wasn't even your real son? Why are you ok with this?"
"Because I love your mother and I love you, you'll always be my son no matter what happens"He said.
"I'd like to believe you dad but it's hard"Huey said "I mean...really where were you the last sixteen years? You're always working! I hardly ever get to see you and you're just fine with that".
"I certainly was not!"
"How old is molly? what color are her eyes? whats the name of my friends? do i even have any?"Huey asked.
"What does that have to do with-"
"She and I needed a father, was that really too much to ask?"Huey asked.
"Hue-"
"This is why im always with Dewey and Louie."
"Who?"
"If you were around you'd know who"Huey said.
"My father was around Hubert, that didn't make him a good father, he changed his mind one day and left, he was no father so I thought it would be best if I wasn't around to ruin your life, I guess i didn't expect that to backfire, I'm sorry".
Huey felt three millimeters shorter, he always thought he knew who his dad was, now it was clear he knew nothing, the way he acted today was just terrible, his mother has always been crazy and sensitive, he knew he should have said that to her"I am too"Huey said "look dad, I'm really sorry about what i said to you and mom, honestly i am, i just wish she was honest in the first place. i should have considered moms and your feelings. I should have realized that whomever my biological mom is, she'll always be my mom. i know it might be too late for me now but i really need to ask you to do one thing."Huey asked.
"Whats that son?"
"Be there. for molly."
"Oh son"He hugged him "Im truly sorry, ill be around more. for the both of you. and if youll allow it. i want to be your father."
"I love you."
