Chapter 10: flow of recruitments

The Vampires and shepherds were all still at Castle Vaernov, doing preparations, but they felt like sooner or later they would need more recruits, as a whole bunch of Shepherds and vampires wouldn't be enough to battle a possible onslaught of werewolves, Incuren and Succuren, and even more creatures to help Kirk with his quest for getting Hannah back to him. Marcus had been going over scripts for a future horror movie called 'Crimson Peak', he felt like though the script was indeed scary and horrifying, it reminded him of Edgar Allen Poe, he remembered meeting the man once, quite the disturbed mind he was, but nonetheless a brilliant Dark Romantic author. As he was doing this, Valentine came in, frustrated and distraught, disturbing Marcus as he didn't want to see his mate and Queen the way she had been at the moment. "Carissima regina, what's the matter?" he asked concerned as he put the script down and went up to her, she looked up at him and from the looks of it, she had been crying somewhat before getting to their room. "We checked with the Shepherd division in the Netherlands, and….." she began with a somewhat horrified voice before he led her to the sofa and sat there while the fireplace that was in their room was still roaring continuously.

"And what?" he pried gently. She looked at him before she answered his question. "Kirk indeed has recruits from the Netherlands, succubae, incubi, even the Incuren and Succuren are with him, the Shepherds there tried to stop them, some of the Shepherds escaped from there alive, but….it was like the 'Red Wedding' massacre on 'Game of Thrones', almost everyone there was dead." Valentine finished before she looked down at her hands, trying to quell the shock and horror, along with anger at what Kirk had done. "He will pay dearly for what he has done to those people, my love, I shall assure you of that." He said before he hugged her tightly while she wept on his shoulder. "He has to be killed, no question about it, my brother-in-law should have had Seamus kill Kirk the second they took him back to their clan over in the UK for punishment instead of that whipping punishment." She said as she tried to stop the river of tears that spilled from her eyes.

While they were still training, and the news of the tragedy over in the Red Light District in the Netherlands had spread to the other divisions on the globe, prompting them to find the rogue wolves and supernaturals and capture them or even kill them before they would even set foot near the gate of the castle. Many of the other supernatural communities had gotten word of the ever growing situation that was becoming grimmer by the minutes that ticked by, prompting them to respond to the rogue werewolves growing numbers along with rogue supernaturals. One particular group of supernaturals, surprisingly some of the Incuren and Succuren, were not happy about what was going on with Kirk and their more dangerous brethren were causing even more trouble, like rogue werewolves weren't deadly enough to begin with. They were gathered in the hideout, where the alpha Incuren was with his pack and they by now had gotten word of what was now happening. "What are we going to do? We can't afford another war between werewolves and vampires, and what makes this worse is that our Dutch brethren are helping that bastard werewolf!" one Succuren said in worry of the events that were going on at the moment.

"We'll need to help the vampires with ridding them of this problem before it becomes far worse than anticipated!" the alpha Incuren informed them, much to their dismay, as they knew that Valentine had a sheer hatred of the Incuren and Succuren after one of their own a year back had tried to claim her against her will, and they had found out that she was mated to Marcus, whom a great many incuren and Succuren, and other supernaturals were terrified of. "Alpha, are you nuts!? You know that she has a sheer hatred of our kind after one of our own attacked her and nearly claimed her charge!" one Succuren shouted out, remembering that incident from years back when Valentine needed to play bodyguard to a beautiful human model who was being stalked by an Incuren. "Listen all of you, if this war is started, we will not only be at war with supernatural kind….we will be hunted down and discovered by humankind! We must help end this slowly budding war while we still can, otherwise everything that so many had strived for will be thrown into a pendulum of chaos and destruction." The alpha declared, much to the confusion and conflict of the other incuren and Succuren who were there, afraid that they may be discovered by the humans, and also afraid of an old and bloody war being restarted that would tear the world apart by the seams. After much discussion and debate, they ultimately decided to part for Vaernov castle to lend a hand for assistance in getting the rogue werewolves and their recruits destroyed and quickly before becoming a greater threat than ever before.

"I just don't get it, how come he's never found his mate thus far?" Grace asked curiously. "Maybe his true mate's not exactly human, not even werewolf either, or…maybe his mate isn't even born yet." Nero contemplated, looking through some emails as 'Jared Padalecki'. "It's possible, but that doesn't mean we don't have to kill him, in fact, we do need to kill him, with the way he is now, there's no saving him at all." Hannah said looking through her tablet to keep track of Shepherd activity after the tragic events surrounding the red light district when many shepherds were killed trying to stop the growing werewolf-Incuren/Succuren army. "I think his mate is in this world, he's more than likely just refusing to look for her….or in rare cases, him, and his wolf is getting between annoyed and angry at him for that." Vladislav suggested, it was another possibility, his wolf getting infuriated with Kirk not looking for his true mate. "It'll be a miracle if he finds his true mate, but until then, he is a threat that can no longer be allowed to live in this world, lest more humans and supernaturals want to find more bodies of their loved ones in the wolves' wake of exacting vengeance and blood for the sake of a woman leaving him." Marcus said in that ominous, calm and cold tone that he was known for when it came to his anger, anyone who was an idiot enough to make Marcus Vaernov pissed, all one could say is 'god help you.' Because they would be slaughtered right on the spot. "What if it's like in the old Vampire/Werewolf wars, he has a mate in one of your own, but doesn't even know it yet until sometime in battle?" O'Donnell asked, if it were to be the case, it would be a more or less uncommon one, it wasn't frequent, yet it wasn't rare for a werewolf and a vampire to be true mates. "Hmm, could be the case, but it's an uncommon one." Dodson said polishing his weapon into a clean state. "Yet it's not a rare pairing either, despite there not being any true mate pairings in Lycan and vampires, there have been some occurrences of that happening over the centuries." Valentine added before Marcus had put his hand on her thigh, his fingers getting somewhat close to her sacred core, surprising her in the process and giving him a look of 'What are you doing?' before he just smirked at her and smoothed his hand up and down her clothed thigh, wanting his mate to feel what he was feeling when it came to her around him.

By then, a great many of the supernaturals were rallying for recruits in helping the vampires face the werewolves, though many were wary of helping the kind of beings who survived on the blood of others and were pretty strong. The rest of the Shepherd divisions had their hands full with not only working on capturing Kirk and his growing army, but with other supernaturals reaching out to help the vampiric royalty in Transylvania with getting the growing war contained by nearly any means necessary.

If many were to give this any sort of classification, it was reminiscent of that of the Trojan Wars in Greece, all of the fighting done over someone stealing someone's wife due to a contest between three goddesses in who would have a golden apple, but those who had been smart knew that it was no ordinary golden apple, but the golden apple of discord, courtesy of Eris, Greek Goddess of chaos, strife and discord, and he had given the apple to Aphrodite, Greek goddess of love, desires and beauty after promising him the most beautiful woman in the world….completely unaware that said beautiful woman was already married to a Spartan king named Menelaus. At least Nero had thought that this was what had been happening, a repeat of the Trojan wars from the stories he had been told as a boy back in Ancient Greece. "A repeat of a war, the Trojan war? In a way that would make some certain sense, but still….this is nothing like the Trojan wars whatsoever!" Lucia had said in disbelief, thinking that it was silly, the growing war being some kind of reenactment of the Trojan wars.

"Think about it sis, Kirk thinks that Nero had stolen Hannah and forced her to be his mate, but Kirk was never meant to be hers to begin with! In his eyes Hannah is Helen, and Nero is Paris….." Valentine had said trying to get her sister to see the similarities. "And Kirk thinks he's Menelaus….coming to rescue his wife from the bad guy's clutches." Grace had said seeing the similarities also. "Pretty much, so we need to be smart about this….or else we're going to be reenacting the Trojan war….except it's not just werewolves vs. vampires….it will be supernaturals vs. supernaturals!" Valentine had exclaimed, fearful of that sort of war to come to pass. "Or even worse, little sister, supernaturals…..vs humans….." Vladislav had added in gravely. "Alright, less yammering, more training and preparing for battle!" Rourke had called out before going off to do some target practice. The rest of them went back to what they were doing, hoping that they would be very much prepped and ready for their battle against Kirk.

Kirk had just been crossing into Romania after days of travelling, finding some soldiers for his cause when gunshots were going off somewhere in the forest. "Ah, humans…so predictable and weak, like little dogs who play fetch and laze around all day long…." He sneered before his wolves went into the forest, and screams were ringing out along with the sounds of crunching and grinding and popping, ringing into the sky like screams of joy on a New Year's Eve midnight. As he entered the forests of Romania, he encountered the bodies of those people who were slaughtered by his wolves in the hopes of them not interfering, smirking at how weak and powerless they were against the supernaturals like the werewolves they had met their demise with. "That will be Hannah someday, lying on the ground, covered in her own blood, should she say 'no' to me." Kirk said with a demeanor that'd scare the nightlights out of even Dolarhyde himself. "Sir, we need to get moving, quickly!" a rogue Incuren had said impatiently. "Must you interrupt my thoughts…?" Kirk said before he kept moving towards where Transylvania is, and needing to look for Vaernov castle, but it wasn't easy to look for unless they knew the exact location of where it is.

Time had passed and there was no sign of a castle whatsoever, until one wolf came across a bunch of cars parked in front of a church that was most likely abandoned for centuries. "Sir, there something that you should see!" he said pointing to the church in question. "Now why would several cars be parked in front of a very old church….unless…." he started before he hears his men being attacked in the forest. "Shit, it's Remus and his wolves!" The Incuren yelled before he yelled the order to retreat into the forest, but Kirk was determined to find the castle, and after putting the pieces together, he figured out that the church was hiding something much more special than originally thought. "Let's press on!" he said before approaching the church doors.

Valentine was suddenly startled out of her meditation by a feeling of great evil invading where she was, and she had grabbed every one of her weapons, and her uniform was put on her, and she ran towards the old, dusty hallways, with many questioning why Marcus' mate was running very fast, she was behind a pillar when Grace had tapped her shoulder, startling her. "Whoa, holy!" she yelled pointing the gun at what she thought was an enemy, before realizing it was Grace. "Whoa, no pointing the gun at me, nephy girl! What's going on? Everyone's wondering where you're going!" she said before the other woman lowered her gun. "There's evil approaching this place!" she said before running further towards the door to the church altar. "Wait….Kirk is here?!" Grace exclaimed in horror before she followed Valentine towards the church doors. Dodson had just finished training when his sixth sense was going off, and he realized Valentine was contacting him psychically and he knew why too. "Battle stations, Kirk is coming, he's here!" he bellowed before everyone scrambled to their places, ready to defend their kings and their mates, though they were a lot tougher than they looked. He entered the doors of the church, wondering where the secret door to the pathway leading to the castle doors was located. "Hannah, come out, come out, wherever you are…." He said in a slightly demented yet playful tone….unaware that along the way to the castle, the same succubus that had been following him from the Netherlands was staking her claim on him as her mate, but he refused to see it, it wasn't easy for a succubus and incubus to attract a true mate whatsoever, but when they did….they'd follow them to even hell itself before making their move and claim them as theirs quickly before anyone else could.

"Hannah….." he said before he found the door and started walking down the deteriorating hallways to the castle doors. But as he turned a corner, he was caught from behind by the succubus, startling him silly. "Whoa, get off me, whore!" he yelled before grabbing her arm and throwing her towards a fallen pillar, breaking it in two, but the succubus wasn't stopping there. "Hello, my mate, do you recognize me? When I danced in front of you and your friend….I knew you were my mate, and had to make you mine, Hannah is nothing but a doll, but I can pleasure you, my love…" she said in obvious invitation, but before she could make her move on him, he stabbed her in the heart with a holy water coated stake, and ripped her head off her shoulders. "Thanks but no thanks, Succubi are such whores….." he said before making his way towards the castle doors, but he was quickly confronted by Grace and Valentine. "Oh, hello, ladies….come to defend those bloodsuckers from the big bad wolf?" he asked tauntingly. "You think you're going to grab our friend and just have your way with her? Her mate is one of three vampire kings, and he's WAY older than you are!" Grace yelled pointing her gun at him, with silver nitrate bullets in the clip. "And to mess with a royal supernaturals' queen is an automatic death sentence, provided they don't torture you first before killing you!" Valentine warned still aiming her shotgun at Kirk. "Hmph, I'm willing to take that risk!" he yelled before three werewolves had stormed the hallways and started to attack them.

Sorry that this was a cliffhanger...didn't know what else to put in there, to be honest, but hopefully the next chapter will make you want to grab movie snacks and a seatbelt because it's going to get wild!
