A/N: I am so sorry for the huge gap in updates. Classes and work got a whole lot more intense and the story got pushed aside. Again, I would like to apologize and I will be trying to post multiple updates in the next few days. Thank you to the loyal readers and I am so sorry to be so disappointing. Please don't forget to review!

"Katie?" My dad peered into my room and automatically looked as if he wished he didn't. I could understand why. The entire contents of my closet and dresser have been dumped up and thrown around the room. Looking around, I sort of felt horrified at what had happened to my room in the past thirty minutes.

"I don't know what to wear." I admitted, sitting on my bed and a few articles of clothing. "It's okay, I'll figure something out." I faked a smile, knowing that he didn't want to help me anymore than I wanted his help.

He nodded and continued down the hallway to his room. He had told me earlier that he was pulling a few hours at the station but I was still to be home before 10:30 and since he still wasn't a big fan of Sam, I wasn't gonna push it.

Sam had given no hints on where we'd be going or what we'd be doing, which frustrated me immensely. He told me to dress "semi dressy" but that didn't really help me out, which was what resulted in all of the clothing I owned being dumped around my room.

Suddenly, I was grateful that I had done my hair and make-up earlier. I had tried spending the entire day keeping myself busy, but by two o'clock, I already finished the laundry and cleaning the house. So, I slowly started on my hair. I took the time to straighten my usual wavy hair. I hadn't put on much make-up, only my usual liquid eyeliner and mascara. I had planned on applying some lip gloss at the last minute.

"Katie!" I heard my name being shouted. Looking at the clock I had in my room, I noticed that it was already six o'clock.

"Shit." I swore under my breath. "Be right down!" I answered, hoping that it was actually gonna be the truth.

I quickly pulled on a high necked white shirt with black sleeves. My favorite part of the shirt was the ¾ sleeves. I paired it with a pair of teal skinny jeans that mom had sent me for my birthday last year and my trusty converses. On my way out of the room, I grabbed a light jacket, since it had the tendency to get chilly on summer nights around this area.

As soon as I reached the stairs, my eyes immediately found Sam. He was slightly leaning against the door frame to the kitchen. He was wearing a black t-shirt and jeans. In his arms, he had a light jacket. I knew that was just for looks since he never got cold enough to need a jacket.

As soon as our eyes met, he straightened up and a brilliant smile came across his face. It was the kind of smile that made me forget that my dad was standing right there, watching us.

"Remember what I said." His voice interrupted the moment. I tore my eyes away from Sam and looked at my dad. He was fully dressed in his police uniform, equipped with his gun.

"Be home no later than 10:30." I reminded him and walked over to him to give him a hug. In the hug, I felt him slip something in one of the pockets of the jacket I was holding.

Dad stood at the door and watched as Sam helped me into his truck. I had a feeling that he stood there at the door until Sam's truck was out of view.

As soon as I got into the truck, I looked into my jacket pocket and saw that he had given me pepper spray. It made me laugh and when I showed Sam, he chuckled but told me that it was a good idea that I kept it on me.

"How was your day?" Sam grabbed my hand and held it, letting it rest against his leg.

"It was good." I smiled at him. "But, where are we going?"

He didn't answer me, but he brought our hands up to his mouth and gently pressed a kiss on the back of my hand.

He eventually pulled up to La Push beach and parked. After helping me out of the truck, he grabbed a picnic basket out of the back.

"A picnic?" I asked, smiling. Every date I had been on consisted of a lame romance movie and dinner. No guy ever had the thought of doing this.

"That okay?"

"Perfect." I smiled at him.

We walked a way down the beach and found a good spot, near the ocean but far enough back so we wouldn't get wet by the tide. He made me watch as he got the blanket out and rolled it out. Then, he made me sit on the blanket as he got all of the food out.

"I can help…" I kept offering.

"I got it." He flashed me a smile.

Our dinner consisted of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, a bag of plain potato chips, and soda. It was very simple but I could tell that he put a lot of thought into this. So, we spent the next ten minutes eating, talking, and watching the ocean roll in and out.

"Thank you." I leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"You're always welcome." He whispered before softly pressing his lips against mine.

The rest of the date went very well. Sam had planned this entire date out perfectly. After we finished eating, the sun started going down, making a beautiful scene.

"Katie?" Sam's voice drew my attention away from the sunset. He was looking at me with a serious look on his face. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked in an almost whisper.

"Yes." I nodded. "Of course." Before I could say another word, his lips were on mine again and my mind went blank.

Leah's POV

"Come on, Leah!" Emily shouted out at me. We had spent the entire day at the beach and Emily had lost her favorite sunglasses. She searched my entire house before determining that she left them at the beach. So, we were walking down there to try and find them.

"I still can't believe you lost them." Emily came from a middle class family, like me, but her parents gave her pretty much anything she wanted. So, when she wanted a pair of designer sunglasses, they bought it for her.

"Oh shut it." She stuck her tongue out at me before practically running on the beach. I shook my head but continued on after her. While Emily was a bit spoilt at times, I still loved her. She was my cousin and my best friend.

A few seconds after she made it onto the beach, she found them, half covered in sand. She quickly started cleaning them as best as she could. As she brushed the sand off, I looked around the beach, enjoying the sunset that graced the scene.

Then, I saw a couple a little ways down. They obviously had come here on a date. They were sitting on a blanket and were currently kissing. It was obvious with how his hand was cradling her face that he cared for her. The sight made me cringe. Just a few months ago, that was me and Sam. Shaking my head, I turned away, ready to leave the beach.

"Sam!" A voice giggled. Turning back around quickly, I saw that the couple had broke apart and that the couple was Sam and Katie, my ex-best friend. He now had her pressed against the blanket and was tickling her. It hurt to see the two people that I had cared most for and the same two people who betrayed me so happy together. That's when I knew that it was officially over. Sam had moved on. Katie chose a boy over our friendship. Without saying a word to Emily, I stomped off the beach.

Katie's POV

Once the chill had set in, we quickly packed everything up and went back to Sam's house since we still had a few hours before my curfew. Once the stuff had been set on his kitchen table, he quickly picked me up and laid me down on the couch.

He pressed his body softly against mine while making sure his full weight never rested on me. His mouth moved with mine, making it very hard to focus on anything else. Everything I saw, everything I felt was all Sam.

As he pressed himself against me, I quickly pulled up his shirt, having a desire to see him without a shirt on. As soon as he took it off, I ran my hands down his chest, enjoying the man that he was. He didn't let me do this too long before he had his lips back on mine and his hand running down my side, underneath my shirt.

"We should stop." He pulled away and buried his face into my neck, planting soft kisses that made me moan.

"What time is it?" I took a deep breath, trying to steady my breathing.

Sam pulled himself to his knees and fished for his cell phone that fell out of his pocket when we hit the couch.

"10:00." He informed me.

"I should probably be getting home." I sighed, knowing that leaving Sam was the last thing I wanted to do but I knew that testing dad wouldn't be a good thing to do when I wanted Sam to be on his good side.

He quickly put his shirt back on and ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm it down after my hands had been playing with it.

"Let's go." He helped me put on a jacket. After he zipped it up, I realized it was one of his. Even though I brought my own jacket, he still gave me one of his.

The drive home was silent. Sam laced our fingers together as he did on the drive to the beach. I sat in the middle seat, wanting to be as close as possible to him. Once he had parked in my drive way, he helped me out of the truck and walked me up to the door.

"I had a great time tonight, Katie." He tucked a piece of hair behind my ear.

"You gonna kiss me goodnight?" I asked, already leaning in close to him.

"Do you want me to?" He whispered, leaning down. Without saying another word, I crossed the tiny distance in between us and kissed him.

Right as our lips touched, the front door opened and we heard a loud cough. Standing in the doorway was my dad, still in his police uniform, almost glaring at Sam.

"Thank you for having her home before her curfew." He nodded at Sam, before gesturing that I should get inside. While I didn't want to push him, I ignored it and gave Sam a hug.

"I'll see you later." I smiled and walked inside. Part of me was worried that dad was going to try and give him another "man-to-man talk", but I was satisfied when he closed the door, allowing just enough time for Sam to wave.

"How was it?" Dad looked awkward as he asked. He took his shoes off and started putting his guns up.

"It was great." I kissed his cheek and went upstairs, not wanting to start a sex talk, that was surely coming sooner or later.

As I got ready for bed, I felt this smile come across my face and I was sure that I slept with it all night.
