This is a flash back chapter of obviously of Ryu's past that i skipped over and the debut of his transformation in the last chapter so sit back and enjoy.

Chapter 10: Ryu Fudo's past part 1

six years ago...

(insert ost: FT busy street)

Ryu sat in the guild staring at the wall bored out of his mind back then he wore a pair of black knee-length shorts and a red short sleeve hoody with a pair of black and red sneakers, many questioned him on his choice of clothes color but he constantly ignored the question. The guild was going about its daily routine as usual, drinking fighting and partying. Akiza and the girls were away on a mission that he refused to go on and Laxus was also gone. Makarov looked over at the boy and sighed "its been years since the event with the demon cloak and he is still singled out by the town and he refuses to spend time alone with his family" Makarov turned his head to see Mirajane watching Ryu with a strange interest.

'hold on a second...' Makarov watched as the white haired teen stood up and walked over to the request board, she scanned the board, took a job and slammed it down infront of Ryu.

"come on lazy bones, your coming with me!" Ryu looked at the girl with disinterest and sighed.

"whaddya want Mira?"

"I'm going on a job and you're gonna help me" she told the boy with a commanding tone. Ryu having been taught by Shinku for the last three years picked up the dragons own personality and unlike others, did not fear Erza nor the "Majin" before him. Mira stared at the boy slowly getting irritated by his silence ever passing second. Ryu sighed and stood up. The black-haired teen picked up the job form and read it.

"defeat a monster for 10,000 jewel huh?" Ryu handed her the paper, crossed his arms behined his head and walked out.

"i got nothing better to do and no training regimen so why not?" Mirajane shook her head and said her goodbyes to her siblings. The two boarded the train and took the seats. Mira watched as Ryu suppressed his motion sickness that he and Natsu shared.

"I've been wondering..." Mira spoke up. Ryu turned away from the window he was looking out of and looked at her.

"what about?" he asked.

"how have you been holding up since... the incident" Ryu tensed at the question and Mira flinched in worry. Ryu relaxed and smiled.

"its alright Mira..." Mira looked at Ryu who seemed actually...happy.

"its true nothings been the same since then but its not a crime to ask, im not sure how im doing but for all your sakes im doing fine" Mira sighed and smiled.

"thats good, im sorry for being so touchy on it" Ryu grinned and let out a chuckled as he stretched and laid down on the seat Mira did the same and the two soon passed out.

The train soon reached its stop and the conductor called out for passengers. Ryu sat up and yawned. He turned his head to see the sleeping Mira.

'ya know, she's kinda cute when she's asleep' Ryu thought.

getting interested are we kid?Shinku called from his mind scape. Ryu blushed at the dragons comments and shook Mira awake as Shinzo argued with Shinku over his comment.

"come on Mira, time to wake up..." Ryu shook the girl three more times but to no use as she just moaned and turned over. Ryu sighed.

"i guess i'll have to carry her" Ryu managed to get Mira on his back thanks to the very small height difference as he was only a few inches shorter then her. Ryu walked off the train and thanked the conductor for the ride. As Ryu walked through town Mira snuggled and wrapped her arms around the boy as well as moaning and mumbling in her sleep. Ryu's face turned a deep shade of red after hearing a few things about him and her that he had hoped he would never need to hear until he was older. Finally arriving at the hotel Ryu called for a bijuu tail and used it to hand the money to the man at the desk and took the key they were given. Ryu walked into their assigned room and gently set Mira down, the white haired girl refused to let go of the crimson dragon slayer and caused the boy to fall onto the bed. Mira snuggled closer to the boy and tightened her grip on him.

"i guess i'll get some sleep while im here" Ryu called forth his bijuu tail and used to close and lock the door of their room and pull the covers over them.

Two hours later Mira awoke to see Ryu asleep in the bed right next to her, her face turned a deep shade of red as she realized she was clinging to him. With a girlish squeal she threw the boy off the bed onto the floor. Ryu groaned and rubbed his head as he sat up.

"why the hell did you throw me off the bed?!"

"we were snuggled together and i freaked out!"

"you fell asleep on the train so i carried you here but when i laid you down you wouldn't let go so i fell asleep to!"

"oh...sorry" Mira scratched the back of her head and laughed nervously.

"and if you're gonna have a wet dream, mind keeping it to yourself" Ryu said nonchalantly as he stood up and stretched. Mira's face turned crimson red with embarrassment. Ryu and Mira left the hotel and searched for the job employer. After searching for half an hour they arrived of was obviously town hall. They walked inside and showed their guild marks, they were led into the mayor's office, the man was average sized with short brown hair.

"thank you for coming young wizards but are you sure you can get the job done?" he asked.

"sir don't judge us by appearance" Ryu stated with a grin.

"yes of course, my apologies, anyway there is a creature that lives on the outskirts of town in a large crevasse, it comes into town and terrorizes us once a month demanding a sacrifice as compensation"

"compensation for what?" Mira asked.

"for not devouring the entire town population" the mayor finished.

"oh..." Mira said.

"the next 'visit' is tonight so i need you two to bring it down by any means necessary" Ryu cupped his chin in thought.

"sir, what does the monster look like?" Mira asked.

"it has a resemblance to a dragon and is covered in ice like armor" Ryu's pupils shrank in fear. Mira looked at Ryu and placed her hand on his shoulder.

"hey Ryu are you okay?" Ryu turned to look out the window of the office.

"so its him... i never thought he was real but i guess i was wrong"

"Ryu what do you mean?" Mira asked with worry in her voice.

"the dragon of ice, he's real, the envoy of wuji"

"what is that son?"

"it means the absence of yin and yang, Mira i'm sorry but you have to let me go alone" Ryu turned and spoke with determination in his voice.

"what!? No way, i'm the one who picked this job in the first place!"

"Mira you don't get it, this isn't something you can fight!" Ryu snapped at her. Ryu stormed out of the office on his way back to the hotel with Mira close behind.

Mira ran into their room to see Ryu donning his white ragged scarf his black long sleeve coat and his black jeans.

"Ryu, what are you not telling me?" Mira asked.

"it's a dragon Mira, but it's not some random dragon, his powers rival my bijuu, he can change form to increase his power, im the only one that can fight him" Ryu tightened his scarf and pulled at his enchanted gloves.

"i need you to go back to fairy tail and tell the master, and mom and big sis if they're back"

"what about you?"

"i'll hold him off for as long as i can" Ryu walked over to the door and left the room. Mira stood silent in the room.

"he's just a kid, why..." Mira shook away her thoughts and left for the train station.

Ryu left town and headed for the crevasse, the temperature around him dropped the closer he got, his internal dragon magic kept him warm more or less. He arrived at a large cave at the edge of the crevasse, he was sure the temperature dropped below zero has he could see his every breath. He could here the breathing of a large creature echo through the large cavern that the cave led into, Ryu exited the cave as the form of a large creature came into view.

"and who are you...?" the voice growled.

"im the Crimson Dragon Slayer, Ryu Fudo"

"Crimsoooooooonnnnnn...Drrrrraaaagooooooooonnnn..." the voice growled once more and the creature emerged from its cave at the opposite end of the cavern.

It was gray and blue, standing on two hind legs with a blue head and snout and had yellow eyes without pupils, has a pair of pointed light bluish horns on its head and a yellow crest on its skull. Three pointed teeth jut out the bottom of either side of its jaws, which appeared frozen shut by the ice covering its head. Its long, gray neck had lines running around its whole body, legs, arms and tail. It had two arms, each with its own claw and each arm is jointed together from its oddly shaped blue wings, which appeared to be used for flying and storing cold air as the cold appeared to be absorbed by them. Each wing had two spikes of ice. The right side of its body seemed to be damaged in some way, as the wing and horn on its head on that side were shorter; the right side of its head also had a spiked edge near its jaw hinge that was absent from its left. Its legs were somewhat slender, and had three sharp ice-like claws on each enormous foot. Its tail had three blue conical spikes on its tip, and appears to be some sort of propulsion device or a container of energy.

"so your the dragon of ice, Kyokai i presume?"

"yyyyyeeeeeessssssss..." Kyokai growled as cold freezing air hissed out of its body causing a large gate to form in front of Ryu.

"if you wish to challenge me then walk through the gate..." Ryu walked up to the large frozen gate, he looked at Kyokai and back at the cave he came in from. Ryu sighed and walked through the gate.

Mira arrived at the Magnolia and raced through town back to the guild. She ran through the door and ran up to the master who was fortunately talking with Akiza "Akiza!"
