"Well, the last thing I remember was this guy kicking me after slinging Isabella over his shoulder." Edward said, pointing at a badly drawn portrait of Envy. Isabella sketched a better, more realistic Envy and everyone looked at that. Armstrong commented grimly,
"It's odd that he let the both of you live." He then asked, "And what of these "sacrifices" and the other armored souls?"
Hughes was in agreement. "And not to mention the Uroboros Tattoos and the transmutation circle. And Doctor Marcoh claimed that they were using Philosopher's stone in Ishval?"
Armstrong look at Hughes and said, "Every clue we have to work with seems to lead to its own mystery." Hughes furrowed his eyebrows, a hand placed on his chin.
"Not much we can do about that, though. Any answers we might have found are under a ton of rubble back at the lab."
Everyone grew stressed.
After a few moments, Hughes grabbed both Isabella's and Edward's sketches of the Uroboros tattoo and said, "I'll run a search and see if I can find any priors on anyone with an Uroboros tattoo." Armstrong picked up a stack of papers.
"Very good. And while you do that, I'll continued looking into the research team that was working with Doctor Marcoh in Ishval." Just as he finished speaking, there was a knocking on the door. Everyone turned to look at it while it opened.
"Sorry to interrupt," The Fuhrer apologized with a smile. They froze in shock. Hughes and Armstrong snapped out of it, saluting with their right hands and exclaiming in unison,
"Fuhrer Bradley!"
Armstrong stammered, "Fuhrer Bradley, your excellency!" Bradley raised a hand with a closed-eye smile.
"Calm down, gentlemen. This is just an informal visit." Armstrong and Hughes stepped aside, bowing.
"Yes, sir," Hughes managed, "But may I please ask what the occasion is, sir?" Bradley walked over to stand in front of Edward and Isabella, who were still staring at the man in shock. Alphonse was still stiff, and Elizabeth was standing next to him looking uncomfortable. Bradley smiled at the teens.
"This young man and his friend...I heard you were both injured." They stared and Bradley held up the basket that he was carrying, "I thought a nice melon would cheer you up." Edward took it slowly, still shocked.
"I guess...I MEAN THANK YOU, SIR!"
"Yeah, thanks." Isabella said, her voice cold and monotone. Hughes looked at his daughter in surprise.
Bradley stared at her for a moment before turning to Armstrong, "I've heard that you've been checking up on some of the senior staff. Is this true, Major Armstrong?"
Nervous beads of sweat beaded down Armstrong's face as he stammered, "Ah...Yes...sir. But, uh...How did you know I was-" He cut him off.
"You should know nothing gets past me, Major. And now you, my revered Fullmetal Alchemist..." He turned his gaze onto Edward and cast Isabella a glance, "...and, Hughes's daughter, correct?" The girl nodded slowly. His eye narrowed, cold cruelty swirling around inside it. "Tell me what you know about the Philosopher's Stone."
The teens both tensed, both knowing they were facing a formidable force. The tension in the room increased, so cold and heavy-the air felt thick and hard to breathe in.
Bradley's voice deepened, "And I hope for your sakes...you don't know too much."
Nobody could speak. Hughes looked liked there was something on his mind, that he wanted to say, but he bit his tongue. Hughes looked up in surprise and confusion when Bradley suddenly burst out laughing.
"I'm only kidding!" He clamped his hands on Edward and Isabella's shoulders, "There's no reason for you two to be so uptight!" The teens stared at him, dumbfounded. He retracted his hands and explained, "I know there's been some suspicious activities in the Military lately, and I believe it's necessary that something be done about it." He then noticed the stack of papers on the nightstand and picked it up, flipping through it.
"Oh, that's just, uh-!" Armstrong tried to come up with an excuse when Bradley cut him off.
"A list of the research team that studied the Philosopher's Stone. Every person in this document has been reported missing." Armstrong looked alarmed. "They all vanished several days before the Fifth Laboratory collapsed. It seems the enemy is always one step ahead of us."
Isabella didn't remember much about Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood anymore, but she knew she couldn't trust Bradley-or his son.
"Even with my vast network of informants," Also known as the seven deadly sins, "I have no way to determine how far our ranks have been infiltrated. The most we know about them, is that they know a lot about us."
Hughes spoke, serious, "If that's the case, then this is proving much more dangerous than we imagined." Hughes wasn't liking this one bit-especially since the girl he considered a daughter was right in the middle of it. Bradley let out a "Hmm" and set down the list.
"Major Armstrong, Lieutenant Colonel Hughes..." The Fuhrer began, "Elric brothers...and you two girls." Elizabeth and Isabella looked up in surprise. "You've all proven yourselves to be men of a trustworthy character. On that account, I'm giving you all the direct order to forget this matter and all its concerns. At this time, suspicion is our strongest line of offense, and our only form of defense is discretion. Do not trust anyone. Keep this to yourself at all ," Bradley smiled, "When I deem the time is right to confront the enemy, I expect you to be prepared to join me in the effort."
Armstrong and Hughes saluted. "Sir!"
Suddenly a voice called out in the hallway outside the room, "Where is he!? Had Fuhrer Bradley gone through here!?"
Bradley saluted and waved, saying, "Gotta go! Damn bodyguard thinks he's my shadow..." He moved towards the window and opened it, climbing out of it but pausing halfway through to look back at them and explain, "Y'see... I snuck away to get a few minutes of privacy. Well, farewell for now!" He jumped out and walked away calmly.
Everyone but Elizabeth moved to look out the window in shock.
The door suddenly opened with Winry calling out cheerfully, "Hey, Ed~! ...What the-?" She noticed how exhausted everyone looked and question in confusion, "What's going on? Did I miss something?"
"Not really..." Edward said slowly, his brain still processing everything that had just happened, "Just a tornado passing by."
"With flying cows and melons." Isabella added in. Elizabeth nodded in agreement, grinning.
"Yeah! It was really fast though, so we barely caught a glimpse of it."
Winry blinked and closed the door behind her, walking over to them. "Well, I don't think there's anything I can do about that, but I did go and buy the train tickets you asked for." She held them up.
"Thanks," Edward told her surprised. "Just in time."
Armstrong commented, "You sure are a man on the move. Your wounds haven't even healed completely."
Edward huffed and placed his hands on his hips, turning his head. "Yeah, well, two weeks of sick people and hospital food is enough for me, thanks."
"Blondie here is right," Isabella said, shrugging as she raised her hands, "I hate hospitals. And if I have to eat one more bowl of carrot rice and vegetable soup, I'm gonna hurl."
Hughes leaned over to look at the tickets Winry was holding, "And where are you heading off to this time?" He read what the ticket said and asked, "What's in Dublith?" Edward walked over to his brother and placed a hand on his brother's armored back.
"Well, with the way things have gone lately, Al and I decided to go back and visit our old teacher. And the plus side to that is that Isabella will a get a chance to learn some actual combat training-and work some more on her alchemy." Isabella made a face, causing Hughes to look at her in surprise.
"You know alchemy?" He then grinned when she shrugged, "That's my girl!" She mumbled something and turned her head, crossing her arms over her chest. He laughed.
Edward then realized Alphonse was shaking-trembling in terror. "Hey, what's wrong?"
"I think I'm too scared, brother!" They could almost imagine the tears streaming down the boy's armor face. "There's no way she's not gonna kill us!" The brothers turned to face each other and held each other's hands.
"Look-don't you chicken out on me now! I'm scared too, okay!?" Edward was actually crying from fear. Isabella smirked.
"If she's that scary then I can't wait to meet her." The brothers froze and stared at Isabella like she was mentally insane. Winry sweatdropped, while Elizabeth just laughed loudly at the whole thing.
"What exactly does this person teach?" Winry questioned, slumping her shoulders. Armstrong placed his hand over his chin.
"It appears you have a lengthy journey ahead of you," He said with a thoughtful frown. Hughes added,
"Not to mention dangerous..." Hughes turned to Edward and Alphonse and said with a dark look, the same dark aura from before swirling around him and threatening to engulf the room, as he took out his gun and removed the safety, "Listen here Elric brothers-if anything happens to my daughter, you'll answer to me. Understand?"
Edward and Alphonse we frightened to the very core, finding this side of Hughes just as intimidating as their teacher.
"Y-Yes, sir!" Elizabeth laughed even louder, leaning over with her hands wrapped around her stomach, tears in her eyes from laughing so hard. Nobody seemed to notice her.
Winry then asked, "How far is Dublith?" Alphonse found a map and placed it on the table.
"Well..lets see. There it is! It's right down there!" He pointed at it and Winry suddenly gasped. She let out a small scream and everyone looked taken aback, alarmed. Edward looked worried.
"Wha-What is it!?"
"That!" She pointed to a spot on the map, "Right before Dublith! It's the holy land of automail engineering!" She exclaimed, sparkles floating around her as she fangirled, "It's Rush Valley!" She turned to Edward and waved her arms around frantically as she begged, "We have to go, we have to go, we have to go, you have to take me!"
"Yeah, whatever. I don't have to take you anywhere." Winry glared down at him, angered.
"Well somebody has to pay for my travel fair!"
Edward glared up at her, "And why does it have to be me!?" Alphonse moved and tried to stop the fighting.
"C'mon, brother, what's the big deal? It's on our way." Edward turned around and crossed his arms, refusing to look at anyone stubbornly.
"Only if you want to, Al!"
Winry let out a loud squeal and ran over to the door, opening it and saying as she looked over her shoulder at Edward, "I've gotta call and tell Grandma!" Everyone watched in silence as the door closed behind her.
After a few moments of silence, Hughes clamped a hand on Edward's shoulder and said with a straight face, "She'll make a fine wife for you, someday."
Edward glared at him, "Don't start that again!" Hughes laughed and scratched his head.
"I'd rather talk about my wife, anyway!"
Later that Day, after Isabella and Edward were discharged from the hospital.
"Liz, where's my hug?" Hughes asked with a raised eyebrow as he looked at the young teen. Isabella had her arms crossed over her chest, refusing to look at him. She was wearing her usual black jacket with the green stripes, and a pair of blue jeans. Her hair was tied up. Hughes was about to leave for his job and was sending his "goodbyes" to his family for the day. It was always like this. He smiled at the girl, "Come on, don't be shy, now. Do I have force one out of you?"
"I'm not-I'm not going to hug you," She responded defiantly, still not too keen with people contact. For some reason, the scene that was taking place right now was extremely familiar to her and she couldn't name why. It gave her a bad feeling.
Hughes grinned and lunged, wrapping his arms around Isabella and refusing to let the girl go and escape. "Well, you better start otherwise I'm gonna have to keep doing this!" He stood up and lifted her off the ground, causing the girl to shout and kick her legs in protest as he spun her around in a circle. He laughed at her. "You better start giving me hugs willingly or there are going to be some issues, young lady!" He told her jokingly, causing her to cry out in protest, despite her urge to laugh. "You heard me." He stopped spinning and set her back on her feet, releasing her.
Isabella stumbled, slightly dizzy, and regained her balance. Elicia giggled and tackled Hughes's leg, saying, "Big sister and Daddy are funny!"
Hughes knelt down and hugged his daughter, "It's time for bye-bye! Daddy's got to go to work now!" Hughes gained a goofy smile on his face.
"Daddy! Come home early today, okay?" Elicia asked excitedly. Hughes puckered his lips together thoughtfully, before saying with a small smile,
"Hmm...Well, I can try. Daddy has a bunch of important work that needs to be done!" He placed his hands on Elicia's cheeks and squished them together gently, causing her to laugh. "But I promise to do it as fast as possible~!"
"Please don't do anything stupid," Isabella deadpanned, frowning. Hughes grinned at the teen and said,
"Keep frowning like that and you'll get white hair early! Not to mention all the wrinkles..." Her face turned red and she glared, demanding loudly,
"What are you trying to say!? Do you want me to hurt you!?"
Hughes let out a pained laugh as she punched him repeatedly on the arm in anger, "But you already are hurting me!"
"Shut up!"
Winry smiled at the scene. Gracia spoke with an amused, loving smile, "Alright, don't be late now." Hughes smiled at his wife and turned to Winry.
"Well, Miss Rockbell, I probably won't see you or my daughter before your train leaves, but it's been fun." He spoke to both Isabella and Winry, "Oh, and make sure to tell the boys that I said "Hi". Same goes to Elizabeth."
"Thanks, Mr. Hughes." Winry told him with a grateful smile, while Isabella scowled and placed a hand on Elicia's head-the girl clinging to her leg. Winry bowed, "I really appreciate your hospitality!"
"You just make sure to visit us anytime you're in Central, okay?" Hughes told her, then send a smirk Isabella's way, "And make sure she stops by every now and then. I have feeling Liz will be trying to avoid us from here on out."
"Only if you keep trying to hug me!" She responded with a frown, despite being amused. "It's not my fault."
"Sure it's not." He replied and looked back at Winry, "Our home is your home, too. Until then, take care of yourself. Bye, now!"
"R-Right!" Winry said in surprise.
Elicia waved as Hughes walked away, saying with a huge smile, "Work hard now! Bye-bye!"
Gracia called, "You be safe out there!"
Isabella, despite knowing the meaning over her words, said what she always did. It was something that had become a sort of grim inside joke, that only she and Elizabeth knew. She told Hughes, "Don't get yourself killed!"
Hughes merely lifted a hand up and waved, looking back over his shoulder at them with a smile.
On the train with Edward, Alphonse, Winry, and Isabella.
"So why is it so suddenly important that you guys see your teacher?" Winry questioned curiously.
"There are a couple of reasons," Edward responded as he ate taiyaki, "For starters, I'm a little tired of getting my ass kicked. Another is that Isabella will be able to get some proper training from Al and I after we renew out skills." Isabella sighed and leaned her head against the window from her spot next to Alphonse.
Winry gasped, sitting next to Edward, at her sudden realization, "Wait! Is this some kind of combat teacher? Why don't you just quit fighting?"
Edward gave her a look as he snapped, "Well, that'd be nice! I'm sorry, but it's not as simple as that, okay? This isn't only about our fighting; our core needs a little work, too." He looked up at his brother, "Right, Al?"
Alphonse nodded his head, "Exactly. We feel like seeing our teacher will help us grow and become stronger on the inside."
Edward leaned his head against the window, using his right hand as cushion despite it being metal, "Yeah, and we're going to need as much strength as we can get."
Winry looked surprised, before smiling and asking, "What's reason two?"
"To see what she can tell us about the Philosopher's Stone." Edward responded easily.
Alphonse continued, "And to ask her about the truth within the truth...We haven't gotten any closer to figuring it out. There's a chance our teacher knows something about it."
"Let's hope she at least gives us a chance to ask her," Edward said with a frown. He looked at his brother intently, "You should be more worried about trying to explain your appearance to her, Al." His face dropped, "Considering..." He looked like he was going to cry, "Considering..." Tears streamed down his face, and if Alphonse had a body, Isabella was sure he'd be crying as well. "She's gonna kill us when she finds out what happened!"
"It would have been nice to have had at least a girlfriend before I die!"
Isabella supplied, "You could ask Winry; though I'm sure she likes Edward."
"I do not, Isabel! Get your mind out of the gutter!"
Isabella huffed and turned her head to look out the window, "I'm only saying..." Winry ignored her and looked at the Elric brothers.
She suggested, "Maybe you guys should get a new teacher?"
"Liore..." Hughes said as he circled it on the map with a pen, "These endless uprisings...The Philosopher's Stone...Human sacrifices..." He muttered to himself, trying to figure it all out. "And the outright genocide of the Ishvalan people." He stared at the map, a giant transmutation circle staring him straight in the face. "That means..." He lifted the map, observing it intently, "How could this even happen, and who could have orchestrated something as terrible as this? I've gotta tell the Fuhrer right away!"
He froze when the door to the Archive Room closed, engulfing the room and Hughes in total darkness.
A seductive voice called out in a cold greeting, "Hello, Lieutenant Colonel. It's nice to meet you. Well, actually..."Hello" isn't really the word I'm looking for." Hughes placed the map down at the sound of knives brushing against each other, and turned to face the newcomer. There was just enough light for him to see the perpetrator.
It look similar to what Edward had tried to draw, and looked exactly like the woman Isabella had drawn. What had they called her...Lust? Yes, Hughes believed that to be it. This must be Lust. His eyes then narrowed when he realized this woman was the cause for the destruction of Laboratory Five.
Hughes backed up as Lust walked towards him, her fingers like claws, sharpened like knives. His eyes zeroed in on the tattoo on her chest, right beneath her collarbone. He grinned nervously, sweat beading down his face as he commented, "Cool tattoo you got there."
The woman smirked, almost like she was amused, as she said, "Those are your last words? Wouldn't you rather scream?" She took a few steps forward, with Hughes moving backwards, before she lunged. Hughes pulled out and threw a couple of kunai at the woman just as one of her claws elongated and struck him in the shoulder.
"Don't get yourself killed!"
He recalled her words and ran after the woman pulled her claw out of him, stumbling backwards as one of the kunai's landed in her forehead. That had to have killed her. He limped towards the door and opened it, before tripping and collapsing onto his bad shoulder. He grunted and grabbed it, almost as if he were trying to stop the bleeding, before rolling onto his front and pushing himself onto his feet. Blood dripped onto the floor as he walked, and it hurt to even move. Hughes pressed himself against the wall and cursed.
"Damn it!"
He moved and left a trail of blood on the wall, heading towards the reception center. The reception lady turned at the sound of approaching footsteps and said in surprise, "Oh, my, you're back again already! Who gets to hear about your daughters this time-!" She gasped and whirled around in her chair, "Lieutenant Colonel, you're bleeding!"
"It's nothing!" He said quickly and limped over to the phones. He ground his teeth together and told the woman, "I need a private line. I have to tell him..." He made it over to the phones and placed a hand on it, ready to lift it up. The woman watched him worriedly as he picked up the phone, only to watch in confusion as he set it back down.
Hughes started to limp back the way he came, aiming for the exit, and told the lady, "Sorry...Forget I was here..."
"But, sir!" He needed medical attention, but Hughes didn't think it was time for that. Mustang needed to know.
Hughes managed to make it down to a telephone booth in a nearby street just outside of Central.
"I need you to connect me to Colonel Mustang, right away."
"I'm sorry, but I'm not allowed to connect from an outside line." The operator responded.
"You are speaking to Lieutenant Colonel Hughes, and this is a matter of life and death!"
"Could I have your code, please?"
Hughes snapped, "What!? Are you trying to waste time!?" He demanded as he pulled out his phone book, a family photo of him, his wife, and his daughters falling out of it. "It's Uncle...Sugar...Oliver...Then Eight...Zero...Zero."
"Your code was verified. Please wait while I connect you."
"Will you hurry!?" He snapped, stomping his foot, "It's an emergency!"
The sound of a gun cocking had him freeze. Sweat trickled down his face as he inhaled, and he turned his head to see Maria Ross pointing a gun at him.
"I need to ask you to put down the receiver," She told him with a frown. "Please, sir." Hughes shakily turned to look at her, "Go on. Just hang it up."
"You look just like-" He began, but cut himself off with shaky smirk. "But you're not. Who the hell are you, lady?"
The woman smirked, "I'm Second Lieutenant Ross, sir. You've lost too much blood."
"Drop the act already," He ordered, causing the woman to falter and frown deeply. "You're not Second Lieutenant Ross! She has a mole under her left eye!"
The copycat looked surprised. A cold, sadistic smirk snaked its way across her face as she said, "Your observant. I can't believe I forgot." The voice changed as she spoke, and the copycat lifted a hand up to her face and touched under her left eye, creating a mole with red lightning. "There, how do I look now?" Hughes gasped.
He rested his hand and phone on top of the receiver box, saying in disbelief, "This is not happening...Please tell me I'm hallucinating or something." His family faces started to flash in his mind. The faces of his friends, his family, his loved ones...The people he had a feeling he wouldn't be seeing anytime soon.
"You really are a smart man, Lieutenant Colonel." The copycat said, looking down at the photo at his feet. Her voice changed to that of someone younger, much younger, and sounded almost like a teen. "Did you ever think that'd be the cause of your death?"
"C'mon, have a heart, will ya?" Hughes began, trying not to show how much he was visibly shaken at the sound of who was speaking, "I have a wife and two daughters waiting for me at home."
The girl merely smirked, pointing the gun at Hughes's back.
Hughes continued, "Which means the last thing I'm gonna do...is die on them!" He slipped a kunai into his hand and turned, ready to plunge it into the copycat's skull. He froze at the sight of a fourteen year old girl staring up at him with a warm smile.
"I'm sorry," Isabella apologized with a smile, "I should have asked whether or not to have your wife or the pipsqueak's friend kill you." Hughes was very visibly shaken. She grinned widely at him, "You look surprised!" The voice returned to the copycat's, but the face was still Isabella's.
"What the hell are you!?" He demanded, just as a gunshot rang out.
Something huge slammed into the copycat as she shot the gun, causing her to accidentally shoot Hughes in the shoulder rather than the chest. The copycat shouted angrily as it slammed into the ground, a giant crate lying on top of it. She pushed it off and transformed, changing into Envy. Envy was pissed and looked around him, glaring at anything that could have caused it. Envy then stormed over to Hughes and stared down at him, seeing where he shot.
"Not like you're gonna live long with that wound," He muttered in irritation, before kicking Hughes in the leg. Hughes groaned, fading out of consciousness quickly. Envy quickly turned into a raven and flew off, leaving Hughes to bleed to death.
Elizabeth ran out of the bushes, a panicked look on her face as she looked at Hughes. She ran over to him worriedly, frantic, as she tried to locate the wounds.
"Look, Hughes, I don't have time for another one of your daughter stories." Isabella looked up at the receiver in alarm, recognizing the sound of Mustang's voice. She found the wound and quickly pressed her hand against it, putting pressure. Hughes couldn't die here. Not with a family to look after. "Hey, Hughes?" Mustang sounded worried, and Elizabeth reached up to grab the phone as Hughes let out shaky breathes.
She cursed, "Damn it, Hughes! Don't die on me!"
"What? Elizabeth-Elizabeth, is that you!? What's going on!?"
"Damn it, Mustang, just call an ambulance! He's been shot and stabbed-in both shoulders!" She barked, yelling into the phone, "He's lost a lot of blood already and I-I can't-He's-please!"
"Gracia...I'm so sorry...Elicia...Isabella...remember Daddy loves you both..."
"Shut up and stay awake!" Elizabeth snapped, crying. She could never handle sad scenes in movies or character deaths in TV shows-but this was much worse. There was an actual person dying in front of her that she knew and cared about. "P-Please stay awake, don't you dare die on us!"
Back on the train.
"Oh, man!" Edward exclaimed, chewing, "This is hands down the best apple pie ever!"
Isabella had to agree. Gracia was the greatest cook. Almost as good as...as...Dilan. Isabella grew horrified, having nearly forgotten her brother's name. It had only been a year since she's been in this world, and she knew it would happen eventually, but it didn't mean she was happy about it.
"Isn't it, though?" Winry asked happily, her and the rest of the crew oblivious to Isabella's inner turmoil. "Mrs. Hughes is a really excellent cook."
"To put it mildly," Edward replied. He grinned, "Not to mention that quiche she made for us is also pretty delicious."
"She's an amazing cook," Isabella commented, despite feeling like something horrible had just happened. It wasn't just because she had nearly forgotten her brother's name, but she felt as thought someone close to her had been severely hurt.
Alphonse laughed, "Yeah, I put the quiche down on the list of things I'm gonna eat when I have a mouth again!"
"Well, she gave me the recipe." Winry told him, "So when you're back to normal, Al, I'll make it for you." Isabella opened her mouth to comment that she knew how to cook, due to Gracia's expert teachings, but closed it and decided not too. She watched as Alphonse threw his arms into the air excitedly.
"Awesome! Thanks!" He laughed.
"I had such a great time staying with them. They're both really great people," Winry continued with a smile.
"Yeah, but Hughes is obnoxious." Edward stated as he made a face, chewing his pie. "He doesn't know how to shut up and he spoils Elicia rotten. It makes me wonder how Isabella fits into their family."
Isabella bit into her pie and chewed quickly, before swallowing and saying, "Let's just say that Mustang said he had a place for me to stay, and I got dragged out of the hospital a week or so later." Edward gave her a sour look before turning his head.
"Whatever."
Alphonse spoke, "He did come by your hospital room a lot to talk to you."
"Every damn day."
"He's a caring person," Isabella spoke, "There's not much you can do to change that." She hoped Hughes was okay. Edward swallowed his pie and looked out the window with a smile.
"He always made a point to come and keep me company, and it didn't matter when. He'd even blow off work." He then grinned and looked at Isabella, who blinked at him, "You won't believe how much he came in to check on you while you were unconscious. I swear, it had to be every other hour he'd drop by to check on you."
Isabella was surprised and felt a little guilty, but shrugged and looked away with a small smile tugging on her lips. She tried to frown though, even if it didn't work. "That's just how he is," She told Edward, not looking at him. Her bad feeling didn't go away.
"We should figure out some way to thank him next time we're there," Alphonse suggested.
"Yeah, we should," Edward agreed.
Not a good chapter. All I'm saying.
