Chapter 10
"Max!" Kat hollered, busting into the suite, basically dragging Kai in behind her to everyone's amusement. Currently, Tyson, Max and Ian were playing video games as Spencer and Hilary were making lunch and Bryan, Ray and Kenny were looking over parts.
"Yea?" Max answered, not really paying any attention as he was about to beat both the Japanese and Russian bladers.
"I need you to heal Kai's hand now! He's bleeding really badly!" Kat said anxiously as Tala, Julia and Ozuma finally caught up and walked in.
"What?!"
Faster then anyone thought possible, Max was in front of Kai, pulling his hand out and opening it, only to find Dominique still in his hand.
"Dominique did this?" Max asked, incredulous. After that comment, everyone surrounded the pair but Ozuma, Julia and Tala.
"I, um kinda launched Minnie for the first time when we were at the stadium and she went crazy and almost hit Mr Dickenson in the back of the head before Kai caught her." Kat blushed.
Kenny took the blade as Kat's hands were busy squeezing the life out of Kai's good hand. Max touched his fingertips to Kai's palm and closed his eyes. He envisioned Kai's muscles and tendons sewing back together and finally the skin healing over the top.
"Done." Max proclaimed, letting go of his captain's hand.
Kai flexed his fingers and rubbed his palm with the same thumb, feeling for any imperfections only to find none. "Wow, good as new, no pain. Thanks Maxie."
Max grinned. "No problem."
'Settle Kit-Kat. I'm ok. Take a deep breath and concentrate.' Kai felt that Kat would hear him and hear him she did. He felt her take a deep breath next to him as she was practically hugging his arm and relax against him.
"Thanks Maxie." Kat smiled at the american.
"Yup!" Max grinned. "It was nice not having to cut Tyson's hand open again to practice."
Tyson rolled his eyes. "I think I'm done being your guinea-pig."
"Haha, you wish."
"How is she Chief?" Hilary asked, looking over the team engineer's shoulder to where he held Dominique.
"Dominique is fine. I'll just have to clean her off. No big deal, but someone needs to teach her to control the HMS system ASAP." Kenny sighed. "We don't need anymore accidents."
"Yea like the opening that suddenly appeared out of nowhere behind me and Miguel where a wall should have been when Daichi and Max lost control." Julia grumbled as Max sweat-dropped.
"Daichi and Miguel?" Kat questioned.
"Ahhhh Monkey Boy….." Tyson sighed. "Haven't seen that pea-brain in a few months, he's be off traveling the world. Daichi Sumeragi was my partner during the World Championships last year, we beat Tala and Kai. And Miguel Lavalier is the captain of what once was known as Barthez Battalion, now called Redemption. They were used by Boris in last years World Championships and eventually helped us beat him and BEGA."
"Don't worry Kenny." Ray reassured the Chief. "We will whip Kat into shape, right Kai?"
Kai grinned as Kat took a hesitant step back from her partner.
"Ummmmmm I'm not going to like this am I?"
"Again Kat."
Kat panted as she righted herself and got into her stance. After a moment, she launched Dominique and only had to take on step back this time to balance herself from the backlash.
"Wow, she's doing better then we were." Tyson mumbled out of the corner of his mouth.
Hilary giggled, hugging her boyfriend's arm. "Girls are better then guys Ty. Just remember that."
Tyson was about to make a smart ass comment before seeing the warning look Hilary sent him. "Yes my dear. I got it."
Max sniffled his laughter at how whipped his best friend was.
"Shove it Max." Tyson growled and Max held up his hands in defense, giggles still slipping out every now and then.
The Blitzkrieg Boys were really surprised at the stamina that this girl possessed. She had been going at it for hours now, launch after launch after launch, building her muscles so that they could absorb the backlash of the launch. It was probably even more difficult for her as she was so much lighter then the guys. At 5'3" she was almost a foot shorter then Kai, and Ray and about 6 or 7 inches shorter then Tyson and Max. Not to mention that she was of petite build while the guys were a bit more on the stocky side.
"Good, take a break." Kai nodded as he scooped up Dominique and headed to his girlfriend. He placed the red and gold blade in her hand and she followed him to where everyone was resting in the grass.
Kat sat down with a sigh after she placed Minnie back in her case. "Owww." She groaned, massaging the muscles in her forearm. "This is crazy. How much backlash do these things create anyway?"
Kai chuckled as he leaned back against a tree, right next to Kat. "The pain will go away after a while. You'll body will get used to it."
"I'm just surprised she hasn't been thrown around like a rag doll." Spencer snorted.
"Yea, no offense but you are pretty small." Bryan grinned.
Kai started to growl but Kat giggled. "Nothing I haven't heard before guys, but thanks for the obvious assessment."
Ian chuckled. "Just doing our part in welcoming you to the group."
Kat blushed. "Well, thank you. I appreciate that."
Kai smirked and leaned his head back, closing his eyes.
"So, you hold the 5th Sacred Bit-Beast huh?" Bryan asked, leaning back on his hands, his feet stretched out in front of him.
"So he tells me." Kat said, looking at Ozuma were he was relaxing in the grass on his back, his team surrounding him.
"Hey, we didn't even know about it." Marium rolled her eyes. "This is just speculation. But considering her powers, and considering she triggered everything, she's involved."
"Thats right." Ian smirked. "You can read minds."
"And push thoughts into another's head, controlling them." Tyson butted in.
"And talk to people in their heads." Ray smiled.
"Shit….." Julia said in awe.
"Umm remind me NOT to get on her bad side." Raul chuckled.
Kat blushed and looked down, playing with the ends of her new scarf, letting its sent of Kai fill her up and calm her.
"Hey, could you tell me what I'm thinking?" Joseph asked, eyes wide.
Ozuma glared at his teammate. "Hey, easy does it, alright? Her powers are growing in leaps and bounds with no end it sight. We don't even know how much more powerful she'll get."
Kat held her hand out. "No, it's ok Ozuma. I need to learn how to control them. Like you said, I'm growing more powerful day by day and I need to use them if I'm going to learn how to control them. Besides, it's easier to use them on those who have bit-beasts then those who don't. And I've been meaning to learn how to use them with no physical connection like Tyson and Kai can. Ray's getting there, but…." Kat winced thinking of the pain she had inflicted on Kai earlier. "If my powers run wild they can and will cause physical pain to the mind."
Kai felt the pain in her voice as if it was his own and he realized with a start that she was unconsciously transferring her emotions over to him via her thoughts. Another ability she seemed to develop.
"See?" Joseph smiled at Ozuma and Ozuma rolled his eyes, sitting up.
"Fine, if Kat thinks it's ok, go for it." Ozuma then looked Kat directly in the eye. "Just don't over do it Kat, ok?"
Kat nodded. "Of course. Ready Joseph? Think of something specific."
Joseph smiled and closed his eyes. "Ok, got it."
Kat took a deep breath and shut her eyes. She pictured the smaller Saint Shield in front of her and then imagine what he could be thinking about. She felt her ability stretch itself as it wasn't used to purposefully reaching for a mind it wasn't physically connected to, but at the same time it didn't hurt, just different.
'Tyson's snoring is so loud that I can hear it through the walls between our suites.'
Kat broke the connection and giggled. "Tyson's snoring is so loud that I can hear it through the walls between our suites."
Joseph cheered as Tyson looked offended. Max and Hilary immediately broke down in laughter as the rest of the group tried to hold in their laughter.
Kai snorted. "Doesn't surprise me."
Kat giggled as she slammed her mental barriers back up. But she felt something weird even as they 'locked' in place.
'Stupid blunette, thank god I don't have to share a room with him anymore, just Kat, when I want to anyway.'
She froze in shock. That was Kai. How could she hear Kai with her barriers up?
'Kai?'
'Yea Kit-Kat?'
Kat's eyes widened. How could she hear him when her barriers were in place?
'Kat?' She felt Kai ask again, this time with a slight nudge to her arm. She didn't want to freak anyone out while they teased Tyson about his snoring, so she replied back via thought.
'Umm I currently have my barriers up and I can still talk to you and hear you as well. That's not normal, right?' She couldn't even look at him as she said this for fear that she would start crying.
It took him a moment to reply back, but he did.
'I don't know my dear. Would it ease your mind if we talked about it with Ozuma tonight?'
Kat just nodded, too freaked out to even think anything to him.
Kai saw that clear as day and grabbed her hand off her lap and held it securely in his hand, offering her security and peace.
Gripping his hand tight, knuckles white, Kat wondered how powerful she would become and how she could control it all.
"Ozuma."
The black/red haired blader turned at his name to see Kai motioning him towards their suite. Ozuma raised an eyebrow but followed the stoic captain into the Bladebreakers suite as he motioned for Marium only to follow him.
"Kai?" Ozuma asked as he led him to one of the rooms.
"Marium, close the door." Kai ordered. Marium raised an eyebrow at the tone, but conceded when she saw Kat sitting on the bed looking a bit freaked out.
"Are you ok Kat?" Marium asked, making her way to the smaller girl, siting on the bed across from her.
"Not really." Kat confessed looking up into the girl's emerald orbs.
"What's wrong?" Ozuma decided to ask as Kai sat down next to the girl.
"I-" Kat broke off, unsure what to say. "I can contact Kai and hear him as well even with my mental barriers up. How is that possible."
Marium and Ozuma's eyes widened.
"Wait, you're saying that when you have your guard up and are actively blocking people that you can hear Kai?" Marium asked, trying to re-word it into something she could understand.
Kat nodded. "How its that possible?"
Ozuma narrowed his eyes and crossed his arms, fingers to his lips. "We have been toying around with some theories. One is that you, Kat, or should I say Dominique is the leader of the Sacred Bit-Beasts."
"Really?" Kat asked, not so sure about that.
Marium nodded. "For one she is the only female, which is strange and she seems to be more powerful then the others. You said so yourself, her powers of telepathy are very strong. You have what looks like an ability that seems to have no boundaries."
Kai nodded slowly. "Seems to make sense in a way."
"Another theory is that you two both posses a phoenix bit-beast. Phoenix bit-beasts are rare." Ozuma continued. "Hell I think you are the only ones with phoenix. That similarity might be why you still have a loose mental connection to each other even with Kat's mental blocks up."
"It's also quite possible that Dranzer and Dominique are mates in a sense. Which appears to have transferred to their masters." Marium grinned to which Kat blushed and Kai smirked at her reaction. "Can you do anything other then talking when your barriers are up?" Marium asked, changing the topic.
Kat closed her eyes and concentrated.
Kai looked at her but felt nothing.
"Nope. I tried to make him walk over to the door, but obviously he didn't hear me." Kat shook her head. "And I didn't really hear much either. It's like if he's not 'thinking' directly to me, I can't hear him. I hear whispered things, but nothing really concrete."
"Interesting." Ozuma mussed. "You must have some sort of latent mental connection. When Kai thinks of you, you can hear him and when you think of him, he can hear you. But I'm guessing it doesn't always happen, because you would have said something earlier. Must be because Kat is experimenting with her ability more."
Kai and Kat looked at each other, curious. "Weird." They replied together, which earned a giggle from Marium.
"I'll say so."
Kat felt a little better about it now. Her and Kai just had a connection was all. A weird freaky mental connection, but nothing that scared her too much.
Kai felt Kat calm down, but it was different then feeling her physically relax against him. This was him feeling her emotions again.
"Is it also possible for her to transfer her emotions over to me?"
Kat sighed as she rolled over. She really didn't want to get up this morning. She had heard Hilary get up and leave, but other then that it was quiet this morning.
Another week had gone by and it was their last day in Moscow. They were heading to London this afternoon and Kat had always wanted to go to London so she was very excited. Over the past week, her and Julia became closer, Tala and Kai obviously pleased that their girls were becoming close friends. She had continued to master the HMS blade and she could now control Dominique in the dish without her going haywire. She had yet to battle anyone but she was sure she would have her chance in London. The Blitzkrieg Boys were following them there and they would meet the Majestics and PBB All Starz in London as well. She also learned that she had a second set of mental barriers, ones that could keep even Kai out so that he couldn't hear her thoughts about him, nor her overall emotions. She was no where near being able to control them, but she was working on it.
Kat raised an eyebrow, but continued to bury her face in her pillow. A second later, the bed shifted and Kat felt arms around her, pulling her back into a solid chest. "No….." She moaned. "I don't wanna get up yet."
Kai smirked as he planted a kiss into her hair. "Come on sleeping beauty, we have a plane to catch."
Kat groaned and grabbed the pillow, burying her face in it.
"No, no." Kai chastised lightly, pulling the pillow away and throwing it on the floor. He slowly placed kisses on her bare shoulder, moving the strap of her tank top to get to her sweet spot. As he kissed it, he felt Kat moan in pleasure and shiver.
'Damn you Kai.' Kai heard in his mind. He smirked, she obviously didn't have her barriers up this morning.
He continued kissing her up her neck and along her jawline, turning her face as he did so with one hand, finally meeting her lips. He felt her turn around in his arms so that she was facing him.
She broke it off and buried her face in his chest, curling up to take in his warmth.
He chuckled as he felt her sense of peace go through their bond. "Tala will be very upset if you don't meet him downstairs in 20 minutes."
Kat growled. "Well Tala can chill, cause I'm not his girl, I'm yours and I wanna stay here."
Kai had to hold himself back from just kissing the living daylights out of her as she proclaimed herself his.
'Damn you Kit-Kat for teasing me.'
Kat sighed and pulled back. "Sorry Kai, didn't mean to, I'm just over tired. I was practicing all night trying to block you out then bring you back in. It's more exhausting then learning how to control Minnie all over again. Just mentally, not physically."
Kai took a deep breath to calm himself down and nodded. "I know, you just tempt me too much sometimes."
Kat suddenly smirked as she slowly dragged her finger down from Kai's collarbone, over his chest and down to his stomach. Kai suddenly grabbed her finger before it got too low and rolled her on her back, hovering over her.
"Women, you are seriously testing my will power here." Kai's voice rumbled, low and sexy.
Kat smiled in what Kai would classify as seductive and she surprised him by somehow flipping them over, with her ending up on top. Kat placed one of her legs between his and pushed it up into his groin.
"Kit-Kat…." Kai moaned as he felt her hands start to go under his shirt. "I won't be able to stop if you go much further."
Kat grinned, but stopped. "Oh, alright. Just wanted to see what you would do."
Kai narrowed his eyes at her. "Are you sure you're alright? This isn't like you to move so fast."
"Yea, fine." Kat smiled, reassuringly. But then she seemed to snap out of it and then blushed. "Umm so about Tala and us catching this plane." She said quickly, getting off of him.
Sooooooo what's going on with Kat? O_o
