Disclaimer: Well, chapter 10 and I still don't own YuGiOh.

Letting out a slight moan, Teana opened her eyes and was greeted by sunlight pouring into the room. Squinting, she looked around and realized that she was in her chamber.

Letting out a yawn, she shifted her body and instantly felt a pair of arms tighten around her waist. Turning, her eyes grew wide as she found herself staring up at Seto's sleeping form.

Even more surprising was the fact that she was in his arms. Her eyes widened as she realized that she had slept in his arms throughout the night.

Softly exhaling, she attempted to pry herself from his embrace but stopped as she felt him stirring. Turning, she saw his eyelids flutter before he opened his eyes.

She felt her breath freeze in her throat as she found herself staring into his cobalt eyes, which were expressionless, lacking the usual coldness that filled them.

With amazement, she realized that she was staring back at Seto, the man, rather than Seto the noble. However, she felt sadness wash over her as she watched him quickly raise his walls and lock her out.

As he did, she realized that nothing had changed between them despite what she had thought. Images of the night before flashed to her mind and she quickly pushed them from her mind. It had all meant nothing after all.

With a soft sigh, she attempted to remove herself from his embrace once again and felt his arms tighten around her waist.

"Teana," he whispered as he nuzzled her hair with his lips. She turned and looked up at him, her cerulean eyes digging into his cobalt once.

Shifting, she pressed a kiss to his cheek and whispered, "good morning, my love."

The moment she did, she saw his cold mask returned and felt a stab of fear. Why was he looking at her like that?

Surely he had not forgotten all that he had said to her the night before. Once again, images of the night before flashed through her head.

She saw him declaring his love for her and briefly wondered if she had imagined it. Looking at his face, she suddenly felt as though she had.

Dread ripping her heart apart, she quickly tore herself from his arms and scrambled to her feet.

"Forgive me, my Lord," she whispered as she bowed before him, her eyes cast down. Within seconds, Seto was on his feet, straightening her. However, her face remained down and he reached out and gently tilted her chin up so that she was staring at him. Confusion filled his blue eyes.

"No, Teana. I am not your Lord. I will soon be your husband," he said to her and she immediately shook her head.

Even more confusion crossed his face and she replied, "you are a great lord and I am a mere dancer. We can never be united."

Before he could protest, she turned away from him, tears in her eyes as she said, "besides, you may soon forget your promise."

"And I am not worthy of you," she whispered before she took a step forward. Before she could take another step, Seto's hand reached out and closed around her wrist and he pulled back, flinging her into his chest. He spun her around and raised her face so that she was staring up at him. Anger blazed in his cobalt eyes.

"Do not ever say that you are not worthy of me!" he hissed down at her. Cradling her face, he breathed, "I love you, Teana, and I will never go back on my promise. Never!"

Shaking her head, Teana gave him a sad smile and whispered, "I can scarce believe it."

He looked down into her uncertain face before leaning down and pressing his lips to hers. She felt his tongue slip into her mouth and immediately surrendered herself to the passion in his kiss. When they broke apart, he looked down at her and gave her a smile.

"Do you believe it now?" he asked and she, looking up at him with a dazed look, nodded.

Just as he leaned down to press another kiss to her lips, there was a knock at the door.

"Enter," Seto called and the door opened.

"Teana, have yo-" Atem was saying as he entered the chamber before he froze as he took in the sight before him. His eyes grew wide as he looked at Teana, who was wrapped in Seto's arms.

Immediately, she flushed and attempted to remove herself from Seto's embrace but he held her strongly.

"Is there something that you need, cousin?" Seto asked, watching as Atem snapped out of his initial shock and looked back at them.

Looking from Teana to Seto, Atem mumbled, "yes. Seto, I need to see you."

Nodding, Seto pressed a chaste kiss to Teana's lips before he released her and followed after his cousin, who shot them one last confused look before he left.

Teana watched as the two men left and let out a slight moan. She hadn't intended for Atem to see her and Seto like that. Rather, she would have preferred to tell him as opposed to having him walk in and see them together.

However, she was too happy about Seto finally admitting his love for her to care.

"Cousin," Atem began, unsure how to approach what he had just witnessed.

Seto, however, merely turned towards his cousin and said, "I intend to marry her."

At his words, Atem's eyes grew wide and he breathed, "marry her?"

Nodding, Seto said, "she is unlike any other woman I've ever met."

"How wonderful!" Atem suddenly exclaimed as he clapped Seto on the back. By now, they had reached the throne room and Atem gestured for Seto to enter.

"Seto," Atem said the moment they were in the throne room. Seto turned to his cousin and looked at him expectantly.

"What is it, Atem?" he asked and Atem smiled.

"I've decided that it is time," Atem replied and Seto's eyes grew wide.

"What?" he asked and Atem nodded.

"You have proven yourself, cousin. It is time that you embrace your destiny," Atem said. "Tomorrow at dawn, I shall pass the throne to you. You will now be the new ruler of Kemet."

"Hello Rashap," Teana smiled as she stroked the nose of Seto's horse. She let out a sigh and looked at the animal, absently stroking its nose as her mind wandered.

She had not seen Seto in days. Not since Atem had announced that he would be handing the throne over to Seto. The last time Teana had seen Seto was when she had stood by and watched Atem give Seto the crook and flail, acknowledging him as the new Pharaoh.

As a result, he had been busy with the royal court as he learned and accepted his new duties as the ruler of Aigyptos.

Letting out another sigh, Teana returned her attention to Rashap and proceeded to feed the animal oats.

"So this is where you have disappeared to," a voice suddenly said from behind her, causing her to startle.

Turning, a smile broke out on her face and she breathed, "Seto." After several long strides, he was suddenly in front of her and she could do nothing more than stare up at him in awe.

As she did, she realized that he was now the Pharaoh. Eyes wide, she quickly moved to bow but he grabbed her. Straightening her, he asked, "what are you doing?"

"Bowing to the Pharaoh," she breathed and he smiled at her.

"There is no need," he said before he leaned down and claimed her lips. Closing her eyes, she wrapped her arms around him and relished the feel of his lips on hers. It was terrifying how much she had missed his kisses over the last couple of days while he had been absent.

When they broke apart, she looked up at him and gave him a slight smile. Leaning down, he whispered, "I missed you."

"As did I," she whispered back as she placed her hand on his cheek. Smiling, she continued, "I cannot bear to be away from you."

The moment she said it, his eyes turned dark and he asked in a tight voice, "and you think I can be away from you?"

Just as he leaned down to kiss her once again, the doors of the stables suddenly burst open and a messenger ran into the stables.

Immediately, the man bowed and exclaimed, "forgive me, my Pharaoh, but I bring urgent news."

With a scowl, Seto pulled away from Teana and turned towards the man, demanding, "what news?"

The man's eyes shifted from Seto to Teana and then back to Seto. Cursing under his breath, Seto released Teana.

"I will find you later," he said as he pressed a kiss to her lips before he turned and headed back to the palace, the messenger following behind.

"What?!" Seto exclaimed and the messenger nodded.

Bowing, he replied, "it is true, my Pharaoh. The ships arrived last night and more are to follow, I've been told."

"It cannot be," Seto breathed.

"This is all your fault!" one of the advisers suddenly exclaimed and Seto turned to face the elderly man. He continued, "you have brought this upon us! By trusting that woman, you have destroyed Kemet!"

"Seto is not to blame for this!" Atem defended him but the advisers quickly brushed his words away.

Seto opened his mouth to answer but another adviser spoke up and said, "it is true, Pharaoh. You have cast darkness upon our land."

No," Seto shook his head. "It cannot be!"

Turning towards the messenger, he growled, "you are wrong! The soldiers cannot be from Sparta!"

However, the messenger quickly shook his head and, bowing, replied, "no, my Pharaoh. Their boats and armor bear the same markings as that of Spartan warriors."

As the man said it, Seto felt his heart sink and confusion clouded his mind. What was happening?

"She was a spy from the beginning!" an adviser suddenly yelled and Seto immediately turned towards the man, his mind racing. Was that true?

Had Teana been a spy since the beginning? Had she simply been playing with his feeling?

"Seto," Atem began as he approached his cousin, "surely you cannot believe this. Teana would never do such a thing."

However, an adviser said, "she is cunning, Atem. It was easy for her to lie to you and conduct this elaborate ruse."

"She should be put to death!" another yelled out and Atem immediately shook his head.

"No!" Turning towards Seto, he said, "call her, cousin, and listen to what she has to say. Do not act rashly."

However, he could see from Seto's face that he was not thinking rationally and was instead allowing emotions to guide his decisions.

Anger overtaking his confusion, Seto looked at the messenger and demanded, "how many more days before they approach the city?"

"They will be here by sunrise tomorrow, my Pharaoh," the man replied and Seto clenched his jaw. He did not have much time.

"Prepare the army for war!" he ordered as he stood.

"Seto, do not be this rash!" Atem pleaded again but Seto turned away and began to leave the room. As he did, he yelled out, "and someone bring me that woman!"

Confusion mingled with fear coursed through Teana as she followed the guards into the throne room. They had told her that Seto had summoned her yet, as she followed them, Teana felt a sense of foreboding fill her.

Something was not right, she realized as she noticed the stiff posture of the guards. They stopped in front of the doors and the guard motioned for Teana to enter.

The moment she entered the room, Teana became aware of the tension in the room. Looking at the advisers gathered around the room and then at Atem's grim face, she knew that something was definitely wrong.

She looked up and saw Seto sitting on the throne. However, the man on the throne was not her Seto. No, he was the Pharaoh.

As she looked at him, a wave of fear rolled through her as she realized that his eyes were cold and heartless and were filled with anger, all of which seemed to be directed towards her.

"Set-" she began and he quickly waved his hand, preventing her from continuing.

"Do not speak," he hissed, "unless you are told to."

At his words and tone, her eyes grew wide and she felt immense fear seize her. What was going on?

She looked over at Atem and saw him looking at Seto with a worried look as well.

She returned her attention to Seto, who was now staring down at her, his face cold and ruthless. Tears immediately flowed to her eyes and she saw his face falter before he said, "leave us. Now!"

Within seconds, the room had cleared out, leaving the two of them alone.

"Seto," she tried again as he began to make his way towards her. She watched as he paused before he looked at her, his eyes full of hatred as he spit, "do not call me that! You have lost all right to call me that."

Flinching at his harsh tone, she took a step back and looked at him, trying to figure out what had happened. Her mind flashed to the messenger earlier and she breathed, "what is wrong? What have I done to anger you like this?"

With a bitter laugh, Seto replied, "you truly are a wonderful liar."

"What?" she breathed and he suddenly rushed towards her.

Grabbing her upper arms, he pulled her towards him and, glaring into her eyes, shook her, demanding, "why? Why did you betray me?"

"Betray you?" she breathed, her eyes wide with confusion. Looking down into her face, Seto felt his resolve waver and immediately let her go before he stepped back, putting some distance between them.

Teana, however, closed the gap and, reaching out to touch him, breathed, "I have never betrayed you. I promise."

"Do not touch me!" he bit out as he quickly stepped away from her, watching as tears began to roll down her cheeks.

"What have I done to inspire such anger and hatred in you?" she asked as tears rushed from her eyes. "What have I done to anger you so?"

"What have you done?" Seto repeated, his voice cold. Grabbing her, he roughly pulled her into him and glared down at her, his fingers digging into her skin. She gasped in pain but he paid her no mind.

"You have betrayed me and my people. You have deceived and lied to me. You mocked my love and then ripped my heart from my chest," he said before he violently shoved her away from him yelling, "that is what you have done!"

Staggering, she looked up at him and replied, "I have done none of the things you accused me of. I have never betrayed you, Seto."

Her words triggered immediate rage in him as he spun around to face her and thundered, "then why are there Spartan warriors preparing to attack my kingdom and my people?!"

"What?" was all Teana could manage as shock filled her. Spartan warriors? Here? Why?

Nodding, he replied, "you were a spy from the beginning. Sent here to infiltrate the palace and gain our trust."

Shaking her head, she whispered, "I am not," but he paid her no mind and continued.

"I should have sold you to Nirar! But, instead, I decided to make you mine! Such foolishness!" he yelled before he turned away. As he did, Teana felt her heart break and knew that he was going further and further away from her, retreating behind the walls he had built for himself.

Shaking her head, she fell to her feet and pleaded, tears streaming down her face, "I have done no such thing. I love you, Seto, with all of my heart and soul. Please believe me."

"Believe you?" he sneered as he turned around to look at her. His eyes burning with rage and hate, he said, "you are nothing but a liar. And I was a fool."

With that, he turned and began to walk back to his throne. As he walked back to the throne, he said, "as Pharaoh, I order that you be put to death."

He heard her inhale sharply and stopped, turning slightly so that she was looking at his profile and said, "and as Seto, I purge you from my heart."

With those words, he sat down on his throne and he looked down at her, looking every bit the cold and ruthless person she had seen the first day at the palace.

Clapping his hand, the doors instantly opened and the guards reentered. Sitting in the throne, he looked down at her and said, "throw her into the dungeon. Tomorrow, when the sun sets, she shall be put to death."

As she was dragged away, Teana looked at Seto, tears streaming down her face as she realized that she had lost. He had sealed himself and his heart off from her.

Seto watched as Teana was taken away and felt his own heart shatter but quickly pushed it aside.

"Cousin, what have you done?" Atem breathed and Seto immediately glared at him.

"What is necessary," Seto replied. Before Atem could interrupt, Seto continued, "do not forget, cousin, that I am the Pharaoh now. It is my duty to protect my kingdom. I will do whatever is necessary to protect my people."

"By killing Teana?" Atem asked and watched as Seto inhaled sharply but didn't answer.

Standing, he said, "prepare yourselves for tomorrow we go to war!" before he turned and retreated to his chamber.

As Teana was carried to the dungeon, she looked around in despair, tears streaming down her face as she replayed the scene over and over in her head.

Tomorrow, when the sun sets, she shall be put to death.

His words rang through her head and she felt a sense of hopelessness seize her. Everything had suddenly been destroyed. She thought back to earlier that morning and the kisses that she had shared with Seto. Now, she was to be imprisoned in the dungeon until she was put to death for something she had not even done.

She was not a spy! However, Seto had not even given her a chance to explain herself. Rather, he had just decided to put her to death.

No! She refused to die like that! She raised her head and her tears subsided as she followed behind the guards. She would find out what was going on and why there were Spartan soldiers preparing to attack.

And, she would stop it! However, she could do nothing if she was imprisoned.

As she followed the guards, her mind was racing as she tried to figure out how to escape. Looking over, she spied the stable and felt a spark of hope shoot through her as she saw one of the horses she had developed a bond with standing outside of it. If she timed it right, she could run away from the guards and escape with the horse. As it was, her hands were not bound, meaning that escape was not impossible.

However, if she failed-

She quickly pushed that thought from her head. As it was, she was going to be killed the next day so there was no risk in her trying to escape.

Besides, she knew that she had to find out what was going on. Why were her soldiers preparing to attack Aigyptos?

She shot a quick look at the guards and then the horse. Inhaling, she steadied her nerves and acted swiftly. Pulling her arm from one of the guard's grasp, she quickly maneuvered her body and delivered blow to the other guard, stunning him.

Before the other could react, she spun around and delivered a blow to him as well. As he hunched over, she made a mad dash to the horse.

The servant caring for the horse looked at her with surprise before she quickly pushed him out of the way and pulled herself onto the horse.

"Stop her!" she heard the soldier yelled and fiercely drove her foot into the horse's side. Immediately, the animal reacted and took off. Gripping the reins, she maneuvered the horse towards the gates, which was closing.

"Faster!" she exclaimed as she nudged the horse with her foot once again. It sped up and she focused her attention on the gates, which were almost closed.

Just as the gates closed, the horse dashed through it and she let out a sigh of relief. She had made it. Turning her attention to the path before he, she nudged the horse and made her way through the city, heading out into the desert.

"Mighty Artemis," she breathed as she rode towards her army. "Please give me the strength to stop this."

"My Pharaoh!" the guard exclaimed as he bowed before Seto.

"What is it?" Seto asked as he looked up from the maps he was examining. Around him were the leaders of his army.

"The girl," the guard exclaimed and Seto turned his full attention to the man.

"What about her?" he asked, his eyes widening.

"She has escaped," the man replied and Seto inhaled sharply.

"Where?" he asked to which the man replied, "into the desert."

Clenching his fists, Seto whispered to himself, "so she has shown where her true loyalty lies."

Anger flowing through him, he turned his attention back towards his generals and growled, "continue!" before he resumed examining the battle strategy.

Teana's running away did nothing more than confirm his thoughts that she was a spy. Grinding his teeth, anger surged through him and he cursed himself for trusting her and giving her his heart.

As he leaned over the maps, an image of Kisara flashed through his mind and he closed his eyes, ashamed of himself for having betrayed her love for a traitor like Teana. Kisara had given her life to save him after he had saved her. Teana, however, saw no problem with taking his life even though he had saved her own.

She is nothing but an enemy, he realized.

"And the enemy must be destroyed," he thought to himself as he looked down at the maps. There was no other option.
