Chapter 10: Please, Give Me One Chance

Previously:

We went up to her and sat in the two chairs in front of her desk.

Jack P.O.V:

"So, well I want to start off with… I'm sorry to have partnered you guys together on the trip." Kim and I looked at each other and looked back at Ms. Swan. She smiled at us.

"But, I would have to let you know that I have three specific reasons why I did this." She showed us the class list.

"Only half of the student's parents are allowing their child on this trip. For whatever reason, it was equally boys and girls. You guys were the only ones left when I was done pairing up the couples together. So, I didn't exactly have a choice."

I slowly nodded, understanding her. It was fine, really. Not like I had a problem with being with her anyway.

"Next," she started and looked at me. "Jack, I know what has happened between you and Kim from when you came here. It's truly heartbreaking and disappointing, but I don't know about your feelings yet, so I'm not going to judge." I just sat there staring at her. My eyes widened and I didn't blink for a long time.

"I…you…we…what...I mean… how?" I asked her. She shook her head, completely ignoring my question.

"Well the last reason is that…" she started but stopped, looking confused.

"Umm… Ms. Swan… are you okay?" Kim asked her hesitantly… I could tell she was confused too. I chuckled at both of them.

"Yeah… wait nevermind, I don't have a third reason…" Kim and I looked at each other again and burst out laughing. Ms. Swan rolled her eyes and said, "Umm guys, not exactly funny!" We gave out our last chuckle before settling guys down.

"And yeah! That was all I wanted to talk about!"

We smiled at her and thanked her. We got up, heading towards the door.

"Ooh wait! Do you mind taking these books upstairs to Mr. Roberson?" She asked us pointing to the huge stack of books there.

"Sure!" I relied first. She gave me and thankful smile and looked at Kim. "What Kim, aren't you gonna say sure too?" I teased her.

She blushed a bit before adding on. Soon we were walking up the staircase, me carrying ¾ of the books.

"Umm Jack?" Her beautiful voice… I missed it!

"Yes?"

"You Do know that I can carry some too? I mean, you're carrying most of the books!"

"Well, I am aware of that fact, but I'm being a gentleman here!" I replied, smirking.

A small smile formed on her face and she shook her head at me. Suddenly, I heard a, "Too bad!" and the next thing I know, she grabbed a few books form my hand.

"Kimmy!" I whined like a little kid. She shot back, "Jackie!" I chuckled at her as we reached Mr. Robinson's room.

"Thank you so much guys! Have a nice day!"

"Bye Mr. Robinson!" we called out together and started walking back to the cafeteria.

It was so awkward, so I decided to make little talk. I mean like, yeah I might have hurt her but I do have a good enough reason, you know?

"So, what's up with you?" I asked.

She looked at me and shrugged. "Nothing much… I guess…" I smiled at her. Suddenly, I had a thought in me. It was a crazy idea.

"Kimmy, you wanna slide?" I asked her, smirking.

"Where would I slide? No offence, but I don't exactly see a park here! Nor a slide!"

I slowly pointed to the railing and smirked, watching her reaction. He mouth dropped to the floor and she shook her head wildly! "OH HELL NO!"

"Oh hell yes!" I said calmly. "No jack! No no no no no no no!"

"C'mon Kim! I swear, you won't fall!"

"What? No, I would!"

"Okay fine, I'll make sure you won't fall!"

"Really Jack? Then why don't you just do it yourself?" She asked me smirking. Uh oh! I didn't have a reply for her!

"Too bad!" I said and suddenly, scooped her up in my arms and sat her on the railing. My arms settled on her waist and her hands settled on my shoulder. I started into her eyes and said, "Ready?"

"Ohhh… yeaaah…" she started dreamily. But when I pushed her she screamed, finally coming back to her senses. "NO! JAAAACCKK!"

"Kim! Don't worry!" When she finally landed, I caught her in my arms. Her arms grabbed my neck for dear life and we stood there for at least a minute, enjoying each other's company.

I started feeling butterflies again, I couldn't help it. She slowly looked up, noticing that I was already staring at her.

"Was that fun?" I asked her, smirking. She rolled her eyes in response.

"Nahh not really… I only liked the ending…" she said, staring right into my eyes.

"Oh really, now?" I asked her, forming a smile at the corner of my mouth.

"Whatever." She muttered, while looking down. Oh yeah by the way, we were still holding each other. I blushed a little and slightly looked away, while chuckling. It felt so right to be with her. I should've done this earlier, I swear!

Slowly I took her left hand. I held it there while with my right hand, I lifted up her chin so that she would look at me. She smiled radiantly.

I smiled at her and slowly brought her hand to my face. I kissed it, while looking at her and she giggled lightly. I bet I reminded her of our past.

I turned the hand around slowly and looked at the scar, caused by Donna. Flashbacks of that night ran through my head and I closed my eyes shut.

FLASHBACK:

"JACK!" I hear Jerry come running out, screaming.

"I'll call you later, bye!" I said on the phone and kept it. "What happened, Jerry?" I asked him calmly.

"Kim's hurt! Donna and her got into an argument and Donna hurt her!" My eyes widen in anger as I quickly rush inside screaming, "KIM!"

When I saw her state, I almost died of the ache it gave me. I quickly picked her up and put her on my lap bridal style. She at last broke her dam of tears into my t-shirt, hugging me with her right hand.

"RUDY, bring the first- aid kit!" I screamed. In a minute, the first-aid kit was in my hands. Kim fainted into my arms. When I examined her wrist after it stopped bleeding, I noticed they were some deep cuts. I sighed and bandaged her hand. I slowly lifter her off my lap and kept her in the sofa to call 911. The ambulance came and took her to the hospital. I didn't go because I know that I would break down if I left.

FLASHBACK ENDS

"Jack, you okay?" Kim asked me softly, forgetting everything.

I sighed and nodded. "Kim… I'm sorry. I… I never meant to hurt you!" I told her.

Suddenly, she backed away from me. It was as if she just realized that she was actually in her la la land and not in real life. Way to go Jack!

"Jack… I'm sorry! I have to go now…" she said and started walking away. I grabbed her hand and pulled her back to me.

"No Kim… please, please, please! Just let me explain at least once!"

"No Jack! I was waiting for you to explain for two months!"

"No Kimmy! Please, give me one chance… please…" I begged her. I really needed to tell her why I left her. I need to! I can't let her go!

"Really? Okay fine. You get one more chance… to explain. And 5 minutes is all you've got!" She told me while glaring at me.

Well, this is totally not gonna be hard! (Notice my sarcasm.)
