Chapter 10

I do not own Twilight, storyline is my own...

Still no reviews...makes me sad...is it not a good story? Should I scrap it?

Alice and I made our way through the police station. I was looking for the sheriff. Sheriff Hale and I were friends and I trusted him to take my sisters statement and get the restraining order. We stopped at the front desk.

"Yes, excuse me." The man looked up at us. "Hi, were looking for Sheriff Hale." He smiled and looked me over.

"Why sure ma'am whom shall I say is asking for him." He drawled. I rolled my eyes.

"Tell him its an old friend, Izzy." Alice looked at me out of the corner of her eye. I shook my head. I didn't want to get into the story of why I let him call me Izzy. It was a long story involving me losing a bet. He picked up the phone and dialed an extension.

"Ya, sheriff we have an old friend, and pretty one I might add, goes by the name Izzy out here asking for ya." He listens then, "Alright sir. Will do." He hangs up the phone. "He returns the phone to the cradle and looks at me, "You can go straight to his office ma'am straight back and to the left. " His entire demeanor had changed. Jazz must have said something to him about calling me pretty. I laughed to myself.

We made our way through the station and into his office. He stood and gave me a quick hug. I introduced Alice. "Look Jazz, my sister is, well shes in a bad place." Alice removed the sunglasses she was wearing to hide her eye. All the humor and good natured-ness left his eyes.

"What happened Iz." His voice was like ice. Alice cleared her throat.

"My bastard of a husband thats what" Alice said speaking for the first time. She seemed steadier than earlier. More confident that this was the right thing to do.

"I'm assuming you're here to file a report?" She nodded. "Good for you ma'am, to often in my line of work, it takes something near death before a woman even considers to file a report."

He had her walk him through the events that took place and asked if she was married, if there were kids involved, and if this was the first time it had happened. He then moved onto the restraining order.

"I'm assuming you have somewhere to go?"

"Yes, she'll be staying with me until we can decide the next step." I answered for her. She was starting to look exhausted. He finished what needed done with his paperwork, then stood.

"Let me walk you ladies to your car." He walked over to Alice and offered his arm. He must of saw what I did, an exhausted woman ready to go. When we reached my Escalade he opened her door for her. He spoke softly handing her his card.

"Now miss, my cell number is on the back if you ever need anything, please, call. Even if just to chat." He smiled and winked at her before shutting the door and heading back to the station.

Ooo000oooo

I woke up around ten thirty and called Emmett. "Hey, wanna grab a late breakfast at the corner diner?"

"Sure give me half an hour, I'll meet you there." I agreed and hung up getting ready to get in the shower. As I was showering and getting ready I couldn't help thinking what she was doing today on her day off. I hope she was enjoying herself. I pulled on my shoes grabbed my keys and walked out the front door to meet Emmett.

The diner wasn't too busy. Just a few patrons, probably regulars. I grabbed our usual booth and ordered a coffee for us both. Not even five minutes later Emmett joined me.

"Sorry I'm late, our little brother had an interesting morning with a domestic abuse case."

"Poor Jasper." I knew that they could be hard.

"He didn't seem to mind, Luckily it was the first time he hit her and she filed a report which is rare. And he may have noticed that she was pretty." That was interesting. Jasper rarely commented on women. He would never pursue anything that would jeopardize his job or her safety, but the fact he noticed was interesting.

"So tell me how was yesterday?" We looked at each other and we didn't need words. "That bad huh?" Emmett was a paramedic so he knew what kind of a day yesterday was with the train wreck.

I sighed. "Well it had an interesting start, an ok middle and a bad end. " I said summing up the day with out too much detail. "Hoping that tomorrows shift will be better."

"How's the doctor they put you with to start out with? She's great, excellent at what she does." He nodded.

The waitress came over and took our order and we continued talking. We remembered the good ole' days and laughed and reminisced the afternoon away.
