HEEEY! Wasn't expecting to hear from me so soon, huh? Well I have another chapter to let you know what's going down with Edward and Bella! Most of my author's notes will be down at the bottom, so enjoy!

What a Girl Wants, What a Boy Needs

"I can't believe those kids!" Bella exclaimed, causing Edward to roll his eyes.

After the big dinner fiasco at his house, Edward immediately decided to take a shocked Bella home. As soon as they had entered his car Bella shook herself out of her shocked state. And then came the ranting….

"I mean, who do they think they are? Asking me those personal questions and embarrassing me in front of your family!"

Now don't get him wrong, Edward was pretty pissed off about the whole thing too, but he couldn't help but think about some of the things the kids said. It was true, Bella didn't have any hobbies or career aspirations. Her main priority lately has been wanting to become a vampire. Why can't she understand that being a vampire isn't all that great? Yeah, Edward appreciated the powers he has, but that's about it. To never die? Never grow old? To always have a thirst for blood? To always live in the fear that one day you might actually kill someone? To know that you have the power to kill people? Yeah, Edward thought, living in paradise.

Edward stopped at a red light and looked at Bella as she ranted. He couldn't help but think, Does she even want a family? He thought back to the countless of times that he's asked her to marry him. She claims she wants to spend the rest of her life with him, so what difference would it make for them to be married?

Edward took a right when the light turned green. And what about kids? Edward knew Bella better than anyone, so he didn't have to read her mind to know that she wasn't to fond with children. He saw the expression on her face when she entered the living room. She was disgusted. Edward knew that with him being a vampire kids were out of the question. It was impossible. But when the young wizards and witches barged into his life it gave him hope. Magical adoption. If they were to adopt a magical baby their blood would have no effect on them. Edward knew Rosalie had the same thoughts. Why not, right? But now, Edward wasn't so sure.

Whenever Edward would have a conversation with Bella about their future, Bella would either change the subject or lie. Of course at the time he didn't know she was lying, but after today's events he knew for sure that she would just agree with him to either shut him up or convince him to turn her. Did he really know Bella as well as he thought?

"And you!" she suddenly exclaimed, turning to face him in her car. "Why didn't you defend me? As my boyfriend you should have stopped them. Instead you just sat there, staring at me!"

Edward resisted rolling his eyes as he pulled into her driveway. "Sorry, I was a little stuck on your hesitation to getting married and having kids," he said, looking out the windshield.

There was a short pause before Bella said, "I didn't say that I didn't-"

"You didn't say that you did either," Edward interrupted, finally looking at her. Bella's eyes were slightly wide in confused shock. "Bella do you want to marry me?" he asked.

Bella's eyes grew wider. "W-What?" Bella sputtered, as if this was the first time she had heard this question.

Edward sighed. "Do you want to marry me?" he asked again.

Suddenly Bella's expression turned annoyed and she sighed impatiently. "This again, Edward?"

"Yes, this again," Edward said forcefully, suddenly angry with her annoyance. "Yes, this again, Bella. Lately all you've been doing is begging and begging me to turn you into a vampire while I've been begging you and begging you to marry me. But now I'm not so sure, Bella."

Bella looked at him, shocked. "What do you mean?"

Edward slumped back into his seat in a very ungraceful manner and threw his hands in the air, almost defeatedly. "You've been lying to me, Bella," he said quietly, looking sideways at her. "I believe you want to spend the rest of your life with me, but you don't want to get married."

Bella groaned in frustration. "What is up with you wanting to get married so freaking badly? Why do we need to put a label on what we have?!"

"It's not about putting a label on it!" Edward exploded, causing Bella to jump. "It's about taking that one last step and fully committing ourselves to each other. That last step that I see as very important. Why can't you understand that?"

"I do!"

"You don't," Edward said, shaking his head. "And what about a family, huh? Do you even want that?"

Bella gave him a confused look. "Vampires can't even have kids."

Edward nodded. "That's true, but there's adoption. Magical adoption. We could always adopt a magical child. Like I told you, their blood doesn't appeal to us."

Bella felt dazed by this conversation. "So, not only do you want to adopt a child now, but you want to adopt a magical one?"

Edward scoffed. "I don't care if they're magical or not, I just know that I want to have one!"

Marriage and kids was something that never appealed to Bella. But she loved Edward and she wanted to become a vampire. She was sick and tired of being ordinary. So if this was the price of her getting both, she'd do whatever it takes. "Fine, Edward," she sighed. "I'll marry you."

Edward laughed with no real amusement. He shook his head and closed his eyes in exasperation. "No, Bella," he said tiredly.

Bella threw her hands in the air in frustration. "What, Edward? What?! I agreed to marry you! Isn't that what you wanted?" she exclaimed.

Edward kept his eyes closed and pinched the bridge of his nose. "Bella, I don't want you to agree to marry me because it's what I want, or because you want to become a vampire, or just to shut me up," he said, finally looking at her. "I want you to agree because you actually want to get married."

Bella sat there in silence, not exactly knowing what to say. "Edward-"

Edward shook his head. He opened the car door and said, "Goodnight, Bella," as he stepped out.

"Edward!" Bella shouted, but when she blinked Edward was gone.

Edward rubbed his temples as he sat on top of the picnic table in his backyard. He didn't know what to think of what just transpired and he had absolutely no idea what to do next.

"Hey." Edward turned to see Hermione at the glass doorway in her pajamas. When Edward nodded in greeting she decided it was safe to join him. Once she settled next to him on the table she looked up at the stars.

They sat in complete silence for a while, neither wanting to break the comfortable silence.

After a few minutes Hermione finally spoke. "I'm sorry for what happened."

Edward gave a small smirk. "No you're not," he chuckled.

"I know," Hermione agreed with a small smile. "But I figured it might be something you wanted to hear."

Edward laughed. "How thoughtful," he said sarcastically.

She shrugged. "I do try," she said. She looked at him with a small smile. "But I am sorry that I caused a ruckus between the two of you." Edward raised an eyebrow. "I don't think you'd be out here unless the two of you got into a quarrel."

Edward shrugged again. "It's okay. It was going to happen sooner or later."

Hermione looked guilty. "We didn't, like, break you up or anything, did we?" she asked, biting the corner of her lip.

Edward smiled reassuringly. "No," he said.

Hermione looked relieved. "Good. I may not like the girl, but I don't wanna be the cause of the two of you breaking up."

Edward looked at her curiously. "Why don't you like Bella?" he asked.

"I saw her expression when she walked into the room," Hermione said. "Whether she likes kids or not, she judged us without even talking to us." Hermione smiled up teasingly at Edward. "I didn't need to read her mind to know that she immediately didn't like us."

Edward narrowed his eyes at the jab against his power. "For your information, I can't read Bella's mind," he said.

Hermione grinned. "And it kills you every day, doesn't it?" she teased.

Sighing, Edward looked up at the stars. "You have no idea," he said, causing Hermione to laugh.

"There are a lot of Hingspunks out here." Edward and Hermione turned to see Luna walking towards them. She was in her light blue night gown that had multiple images of little tree like creatures with wings sewn into it.

"What are you doing up, Luna?" Hermione asked. Though Luna was a strange girl, Hermione couldn't help but be quite fond of the younger girl. Maybe because she's always wanted a younger sibling, or maybe because Luna was the only other girl close to her age.

Luna sat on Edwards other side and stared at the trees. "I woke from my slumber and saw you were absent from your bed," she said airily. "I thought the Nargles might have stolen your shoes, so I came looking for you in case you needed my help."

"What are Nargles?" Hermione asked.

"What's a Hunkspunk?" Edward asked.

"Hingspunk," Luna corrected. "A Hingspunk is a pink, furry creature with nine long legs and three eyes. They usually live in trees. There are many in your trees. They're attracted to bad dreams."

Though Hermione knew these creatures weren't real she couldn't help but look at her surrounding.

"And these," Luna pointed to the creatures on her nightgown, "are Nargles. Devious little creatures they are. They like to steal people's property, especially shoes."

Edward and Hermione shared a look.

"Uh," Edward said, looking down at Luna, "you should keep a book of all these creatures. It'd be helpful to us so we can keep up with you," he chuckled.

Luna smiled dreamily. "Fantastic idea, Edward," she said.

"Well," Hermione said, "It's well past midnight. We should get to sleep. Come along, Luna." Hermione stood and held out a hand to the younger girl. Luna gracefully jumped down and took Hermione's hand.

"Goodnight Edward," she said airily with a serene smile.

"Goodnight Luna," Edward smiled.

"Nighty, night, Eddy!" Hermione said before skipping away with Luna.

Edward scowled. "Don't call me that!"

"Yeah, yeah," Hermione said dismissively before entering the house.

Edward shook his head and looked up at the stars.

Maybe having those kids around won't be so bad after all, he thought.

Whatcha think? I know a lot of you wanted to know what Edward was thinking about the whole thing, so I hope this was satisfying. Now I have a few things I wanna let you guys know.

VERY IMPORTANT!

1) I'm sorry to all who was hoping for Hermione/Edward, Hermione/Cedric, or for her to be imprinted on, but I think Hermione/Blaise is a definite. I like where i'm going with it and plus most Harry Potter/Twilight stories either have Hermione imprinted on or with Edward or Jasper, so I kind of wanted to take a different root. Sorry y'all.

2) As for other pairings, i'm going to put up a poll for a few. Not now, but in a few chapters. Now sorry to disappoint, but I already have ideas for Marcus and Cedric, so they won't be in the poll. Sorry guys! But the others will, so go and vote when the time comes!

3) This story is NOT CANON. It will not exactly follow the story line from either books. Kind of should've already figured that out when I wrote that Draco never met his father... Anyways, I'm not saying it's going to be TOTALLY different, but don't be surprised if things don't go the way they did in the book.

4) I thought I'd give you a little preview into the future so here are three things. First, expect to see Sirius soon! Second, something bad will be happening to one of the kids, and it may not be who you expect. Three, another poll! I have a plan, and let's just say it ends up with two or three more kids ending up with the Cullens. I'm going to put a poll with characters i'm considering and I want y'all to vote!

Okay guys that's all! I might even post another chapter later today, so heads up!

Love to My Misfits!
