Chapter 10: alone for christmas

Over lookers pov

It was christmas time in new york, and the bells were surely ringing every business was decorated to the brim with decorations, for the season, fake santa's stood outside of buildings and in malls spreading cheer, people were going to visit loved ones, even the times was a cheerier place, due to the season. Petey had given most christmas eve and christmas day off, and it was the late night of the eve of christmas eve, and people found themselves hustling and bustling around.

Danny Fenton and sam Manson symontaniosly sighed as they finished there latest phantom article.

"Well thats a wrap huh sam" said canny, as he fidgeted nervously waiting for the right moment to ask her, what he had wanted.

"Yeah, and now its we have nothing to distract us from the holidays" sam said annoyed and bitter, the girl could hardly remember a time when couldn't wait for the current season.

This was even despite the fact she was jewish and had never had a christmas, didn't matter there was something about the time if the year, that the young sam had loved. It seemed as if it was a life time ago, now sam couldn't wait for, it to be all over. Ever since the day she left the rich life and her now estranged family behind, the girl hated the season, because it met she was truly alone.

Tucker would go home, and despite his offer every year to come with, sam spent every christmas since, her estrangement with her family began alone. She was all alone or so she felt. She had people people who loved and cared for her, and in her blind pain the girl simply couldn't see it. The season she once couldn't wait for sam mansion now dreaded.

"I um i thought that, maybe... I know your jewish and all, i mean not that theres uh anything wrong with that. I um would you wanna, maybe come to my house for christmas, my family's a bit over bearing, but -" the boy began before being cut off by a blushing sam.

"I'd love to..." The girl began shocking herself that the words were true, nevertheless...

"...but um tucker and i have chanaka every year, we would invite you, but like you said you, have your family christmas..." The girl lied trailing off, watching as Danny's face became sad and solemn but understanding. Both raven haired adults blushed beat read, as silence impaled them.

Danny was the one to break the silence.

"Look i um, i just thought i'd ask" the boy said rubbing his neck as he stood up, tripping over, the chair he sat in causing him to let out a curse, and blush even harder if it was possible.

"Damnit" the boy said in his embarrassment as he wrestled with the chair in an attempt to get it upright, once done with said task, the boy got up quickly walking off in the direction opposite sam, as the girl shook her hear, letting a wide grin spread across her face. On the way to the mens room to splash water on his burning beet red face, Danny ran into tucker... Literally. Danny gave the 18 year old an annoyed scowl.

"Why didn't you tell me about you and sam's chanaka thing" Danny questioned curiously annoyed.

"What are you talking about dude" tucker asked fiddling with his pda, not bothering to look up. Now it was Danny's turn to be confused.

"Sam said you guys were-" at that moment it all clicked for the rookie reporter/photographer, he knew what had happened. Putting down his pda for a moment he spoke.

"Look Danny, don't take this the wrong way, but sam lied. Im going home for christmas and sam's staying here working." Danny gasped at the realization, he realized that made since. Still though it shocked the man.

"But not even petey works on christmas" Danny stated sadly, that told you something, petey ALWAYS worked.

"Danny I'm not the one to talk to, talk to sam yourself, you two are always dumping this stuff, on me i know i may seem magical but I'm only human, you guys need to talk to each other." Tucker stated rather wisely. It was true the pair had been coming to the boy for advice and consul, more often of late, and Danny knew the boy was right.

Pausing for moment, Danny thought about tucker's word's and swore apologies.

"Its alright man thats what friends are for."

Danny nodded and turned his back to press the elevator button before turning back around.

"And tucker..." Danny began as tucker looked up from his pda.

"... Thanks" Danny said as the elevator dinged, and he went in.

Sam Manson leaned back in her chair and sighed, she had just finished her fourth petty article, thats how she spent her Christmas's, alone and writing the boring types of articles they gave to the rookie, reporters.

Yet what else was there for the girl to do. There was nothing and she knew it. The girl let the tiniest pieces of her fingertips graze a face down picture frame, before forcing her self to pick up the item and look at it. There stood four pristine, people all with white toothed smiles spread wide on there faces.

The youngest a girl with amethyst eyes and raven hair, who stood in a fancy black dress, with the fakest smile on her pale face. Her eyes were puffy and red if you looked close, and you could tears welling up in them but the strong girl held them back.

Next to her stood a man and a woman who looked as if they stepped straight out of the 1950s, and next to the man sat a aging woman, on a motor scooter.

It was the image of a perfect family, but thats not how sam remembered it. She remembered, feeling like a stranger in her own home. She remember nights she'd come home to a house with a note saying her parents would be gone yet again.

The only comfort in all those years was a few maids, who she loved dearly and her grandmother, after her death, her 11th grade year she remembered being truly alone. Her life was never has that picture indicated, it was nothing but loneliness in a huge house.

The girl let a lone tear dribble down her face, but she quickly wiped it away, as she hated herself for the pain she still felt, after all those years. Suddenly a familiar chill shivered up her spine. She knew exactly what or rather who it was.

It was phantom...

The boy had held true to his word and stayed away from sam... Well as phantom anyway. Though it pained his heart, he wanted a connection with her as both Fenton and phantom, but he valued her life far more than his selfish need to be around her.

"This is some chanaka" Danny said trying not to sound bitter, although thats how it sounded. Ignoring this and the fact, that he knew about the lie she told Fenton, sam turned her chair around her heart beating fast.

"I know, i get it , it was a shitty thing to do, to lie to Danny..." The girl said beginning her explanation phantom remained quiet.

"... But i do better on my own, i always have been, its what i know, its what i've always known, and i just-" the girl trailed off, not knowing what to really say.

Danny had a hollow look about him, "sam listen to me, you may have been alone before but your not alone any more, no matter how far i go from you sam, i'll watch over you, i have been watching over you. You have people who love you, and who will make sure your happy. Stop pushing us away" the boy said flying closer not realizing the irony in his own words.

"What about you phantom, mr. 'Its too dangerous for us to keep seeing each other'" the girl said snarling her eyes rolling.

"Sam what if one day i'm not there, and you..." Danny trailed off, before he could finish.

"If your not there then you have a damn good reason, and your gonna have to trust me when i say, i can handle it" the girl said standing up, and walking closer to him, and grabbing his hands, and holding them.

"You say I'm not alone, well fine then your not either, when I signed up to be your... Uh friend i signed up for all that may come with it. If you don't want to be my friend, fine but if you stop being my friend, because you don't want me to get hurt, then still be my friend, i want you to be my friend as long as you want"

The girl said before pulling him into a big hug and for a while they just hugged. Realizing the woman that felt so right in his arms, Danny looked down at her said and blushing face, only to see it facing down. Taking his hand he lifted her chin.

"Go to amity park, and be with Danny" said phantom, as sam smiled up at him, before noticing a mislte toe hung above them, they both turned beat red.

"Were uh, mistie toe, oh my, holy shit" Danny stammered, as the pair began to lean, but sam for the first time in her life became absolutely terrified, of the kiss. She leaned back and whispered sadly.

"Im jewish"

She said lamely that was the only excuse the girl could think of.

Later on the girl, ended up on a flight to none other than amity park, for the first time in what seemed like forever, sam Manson wouldn't be alone for christmas.

A/n: so yeah that was the end of that next chapter we'll get to see the christmas at the fenton's even though sam is jewish, this will be her first christmas, she's not really celebrating she just wants to be with Danny.
