~All because of a Photo Album~
Nobody's POV
Water drops collected at the ends of Ren's hair, falling as it made a journey down his bare back. Steam filled every molecule of air leaving evidence on the once clear mirror. He had been there for a half hour thinking of nothing but her. Her sweet smile, how it brightens up his day and made his own lips curve; her laugh, how it sounded like a dainty bells ringing. He was madly in love with her, and he won't deny it. A dainty knock woke him up from his musing.
"Tsuruga-san, are you okay? You've been in there for the past half hour." A concerned voice reached his ears.
"I'll be out in a minute, Mogami-san." Ren said as he put a fresh shirt on. Kyoko was here to cook dinner for him so he really shouldn't keep her waiting. He opens the door to find a pale Kyoko holding book. Not just any book, his photo album of his childhood.
"Crap."
Nobody's POV
~Flashback~
Kyoko was at Ren's apartment again under the direction of Yashiro and Lory, against her will. She had been trying to avoid Ren as much as possible after what has happened a few days ago but it was all in vain. She stood in front of Ren's apartment, choosing to ring the doorbell or not. Finally, despite the fact that her stomach had butterflies in them, she raised her finger to press the small button. Ren opened the door soon after in his usual calm state.
Kyoko immediately blushed, her legs feeling like jelly after Ren gave her a small dashing smile. His dark, brown eyes glanced at the plastic bag she held.
"I-I-I came to make you dinner." Kyoko stuttered, looking away. His intense gaze tore at the sacred box within her.
Ren chuckled. "I'm not hungry."
Kyoko did a 360 personality change. "What do you mean you're not hungry?! What did you eat at lunch?! Nothing! You need to stay healthy and as your kohai I vow to myself to make sure you're eating right!" She ranted.
Ren raised an eyebrow. "I believe I drank coffee- that's food, right?" Before Kyoko could start scolding him, Ren pulled her inside and closed the door. "I'll go take a bath, okay?"
Kyoko nodded as she walked into the kitchen. She place down the groceries before settling to cooking dinner. After a short time the whole apartment was filled with mouth-watering aroma. Kyoko place the dishes in the dining room before her eyes caught on a book. The book had a blue hardcover and had dust gather on it. It seemed like no one had touched it in years. Curiosity nibbled at her as she picked up the book from the floor. On the cover the words, Photo Album, was written in fancy script. That alone gained Kyoko's interest. Her sempai had never talked about his childhood with her, with Bo the chicken, yes but not with her general self. The battle with curiosity was futile as she open the album up to a random picture. Kyoko gasped. The picture was a picture of a smiling blond-haired, emerald-eyed boy in the arms of Hizuri Kuu. The boy was around ten years old and had a very familiar face. Corn! It was definitely Corn, no doubt about it. But why was Corn with Father? Kyoko asked herself. A sudden memory overtook her. Father said his son's name was Kuon Hizuri. Kuon. Corn. The names are very similar! The discovery made Kyoko's heads spin as her head tried to connect the dots. She abruptly got up and rushed to the bathroom. She fidgeted as she knocked on the door. Almost immediately he replied but he froze in his place as he spotted the photo album in her hands.
"Crap."
~Flashback Ends~
Kyoko's POV
"Corn?" I whispered, too afraid of the answers I was going to get. Will he get angry? Sad? Will he never talk to me again? Tsuruga-san ran his fingers through his damp hair, his face in shock.
"You're Corn right?" I showed him the picture. "And also Otou-san's son."
He didn't answer for a few seconds before he nodded. "W-where did you find the book?" His voice faltered.
"On the floor," I sniffled. "Now answer this. Why didn't you tell me who you were? Why did you keep it a secret? Why?" I burst out in tears. He pulled me into a deep embrace.
"I didn't want you to be disappointed, after all Corn was the only pleasant memory of your childhood so I didn't want to tell you that I'm not a fairy."
"I'm not disappointed, Corn. I'm just sad that you didn't tell me." I said as I wiped away a tear. "Why did you hide your identity as Kuon?"
I regretted the moment when those words flew out of my mouth. Kuon winced as if the words hurt him very much. I started to do a dogeza and apologize but he stopped me.
"I felt stuck as a teen, behind my father's shadow. I was so lost, so hurt to the point that I wanted to die. Then I met Rick who became a very precious friend. By that time I was a teen, a very vicious one. I got into fights. One of those fight, I totally lost it. Rick tried to stop be from killing the person but he died instead. He was killed because of my stupidity!" Kuon broke down. His disguises were gone leaving him as himself, not someone he wasn't.
"It's my fault!" Kuon shouted. "If I hadn't chased after that guy-"
"Kuon! Stop blaming yourself!" I cried as I unconsciously grabbed his head and pulled him closer. "It wasn't your fault! Did you know he would get run over?!"
Kuon shook his head sadly. He looked so choked up that it hurts to look at him. Then I was suddenly conscious of the fact that we were very close.
"GYAAAHHH!" I hastily jumped away. My faced turned red and I stared at the ground. I felt a spark as he lift my chin up and flashed the most brilliant smile I have ever seen.
"Thank you."
My writing has improved didn't it? I wonder if the characters are a little OC (I haven't written in months!)
Anyway please review!
