Chapter 10 Accident

A/N: Hi guys! Thank you so much for the reviews! I really appreciate it. I've noticed that there were many readers who weren't satisfied with how quickly Hinata forgave Sasuke. I understand your disappointment. I'm honestly thinking about rewriting it, perhaps making it a bit longer. I'll be a little more elaborate on how Sasuke tried to win Hinata's heart back before he left for work. Perhaps that'll satisfy you? But for now, that'll have to wait because I'm super hyped up to continue this fic before I get hit by demotivation. Your reviews are awesome! It makes me so excited to continue! But for now that's a good and a bad thing. Good because it makes me wanna write but bad because I have a Forensic Science and Work Psychology exam next week XD Wish me luck! And for the reviewer who asked about Karin: there will be some Karin action in this chapter. Enjoy!

Zwitserland.

Beautiful country. Sasuke couldn't help but smile as he walked down the stairs, heading for the restaurant of the hotel he was currently staying at. This will be his fifth day at work; in just two days he would be home and spend more time with Hinata.

People say that there's good in every bad, that there will be no rainbow without the rain. Thinking back about what happened between himself and Hinata the past few weeks have really opened up his eyes and he felt so stupid of not having seen this from the start. He felt light as a feather, the core of his soul was warm and for the first time in a long time, he smiled with little effort. Sasuke wondered why he even entered his depressive phase when being content and happy felt so much better. All of a sudden, his infertility didn't bother him anymore. As long as Hinata's by his side, everything was okay.

"Hey stud," a voice seductively greeted him.

Sasuke turned towards the direction of the sound and saw Karin trying to lure him with her revealing outfit. Sasuke only glared at her and continued on his way. Karin doesn't take no for an answer so she soon followed after him.

"What? Don't wanna talk?" she asked him quite innocently as she strolled next to him. Sasuke didn't pay any attention to her.

"Come on, baby," she tried again. "Won't you at least spend some time with me? I've been so lonely."

She took hold of Sasuke's shirt and slightly tugged at it as if pleading him to pay some attention to her. When he felt the tug on his shirt, Sasuke whirled around as fast as a tornado. He continued glaring at her, looking at her as if he was cursing her with his eyes alone. Karin chose to ignore his gaze and only looked at him expectantly.

"Can I join you for lunch?" she asked him. Sasuke still didn't reply or respond.

With a heavy sigh, Karin dropped her shoulders and looked to the floor beneath her feet.

"I came to apologize, Sasuke," she said quietly. She sounded sincere and that amused him. "Can we please talk about this?"

"Fine," he answered through clenched teeth. After that he continued on his way to the restaurant as if she was of no interest to him anymore.

Karin's face lit up like a candle in a dark room. Happily, she walked next to Sasuke. She knew she seriously messed things up with the handsome captain when she left her marks behind. And to make sure he would be less angry at her when they talked again, she hadn't bothered him two weeks ago. But this week would be different. She wants him back and it doesn't matter what she has to do for him to stay, but hell, she'll do it anyway. To her, Sasuke was a precious jewel and which lady likes her jewelry lost, right?

She decided to do things differently. Perhaps he prefers a more submissive girl? Like that coward of a wife he has. She doesn't know Hinata personally but she's obviously not giving him the loving that she knew he craved. She can tell from the way Sasuke handled her during sex. In the back of her mind, she knew Sasuke would turn back to her. So she wasn't the least bit worried. But if things go wrong, she has a few tricks up her sleeve…

Quietly, Karin and Sasuke ate their lunches. While Karin was watching him, observing the tiniest bit of emotion in his facial expression, Sasuke was just pretending she wasn't there. Ignoring people came pretty easy to him. It was nearly second nature, so after a while Karin nearly felt like she was indeed having lunch alone. She didn't feel awkward, though. Karin wasn't fazed because Sasuke always acts like that when they're in public. When they are in the confines of their hotel room however, things tend to change.

When their lunch was eaten and taken away, a waiter put the bill on the table. Sasuke stopped him before he could leave and paid him on the spot. Finally he turned his attention to the red head in front of him and stared into her eyes.

"I want to make things clear," he said.

Sasuke wasn't in the mood to spend time with her. In fact, he wanted to stay away from her as often as possible. It's not like he'd be tempted to bed her again but Karin could whine like the best. And that annoyed him to the end of existence. If he wanted to remain decent against this woman he needs to see her less and less.

Karin was surprised by his statement and looked at him expectantly.

"I want you to stay away from me."

Sasuke was never the one to procrastinate. He liked being blunt and to the point.

"Whatever we had, that's done now. It's over. We'reover."

Karin's mouth fell open slightly. She couldn't believe Sasuke's action. Is he really breaking up with her? She had some trouble processing what he said but noticed soon enough that Sasuke meant it. He just stood up and left, without saying goodbye. Again, pretending that she didn't exist. Quickly, Karin stood up clumsily, trying not to trip over her own feet as she rushed behind her precious jewel.

She jerked him around roughly to get his attention.

"What?!" she yelled. "Are you kidding me? You're breaking up with me?"

"Did you not hear me the first time?" Sasuke responded coldly. "I suggest you get your ears checked. The engines of the planes must've done you some damage."

With that, Sasuke turned away. He didn't want to put up with her now. His day started well and he wanted to keep it that way.

Again, Karin ran towards him and yanked his shirt. Sasuke, who didn't expect that, nearly fell backwards. He pulled himself away from her grip and calmly smoothed out his shirt. His anger gauge was filling up but he kept his composure. He was starting to think that Karin needed the slap and not Hinata. Oh how he wished he could do it, but an Uchiha does not lose control to a woman. He may have slipped up once but he wanted it to remain a once in a lifetime experience.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Karin spat furiously. "You can't leave me!"

Sasuke inched closer to her, his hard eyes never leaving hers.

"Watch me," he whispered, ice laced his voice. With that he turned around again and walked away.

"You can't leave me, Sasuke!" she yelled after him, not following him this time. Her head panicked a little but she had one trump card left to pull. "You can't leave me because I'm pregnant!"

That made Sasuke stop dead in his tracks. His whole body stiffened. Karin looked at him victoriously and smirked. She knew Sasuke was a man of honor and she knew that he would never leave the one bearing his child. Even if it came from a love affair outside his marriage.

Sasuke slowly turned around to face her. She still had her smirk plastered on her face.

"You can't leave me because I'm pregnant," she repeated. "I'll ruin you with the alimony if you do." She hissed out that last part.

All of a sudden, Sasuke strode towards her with large even steps. He kept reducing their distance until he was so close, she could feel his body heat emanating to the environment. His face was laced with anger and amusement. He never did tell her that he was infertile. That decision was the best he made so far.

"Pregnant, huh?" he asked her, a clear threat in his tone. He looked at her mockingly. He reduced their distance even more by lowering his head, till his mouth was pretty close to her ear.

"You obviously know nothing about me," he said harshly, deliberately letting his anger seep through the tone of his voice. "You're a waste of my time. If you do not stop harassing me, I swear you'll have a hard time finding another job."

With that he turned around and walked away again. This time he didn't intend to listen to any of her empty threats or crazy tantrums. He wanted to be rid of her, to never hear from her again.

xoxoxoxo

The next day, around 3 PM, Sasuke landed in Miami, Florida. Being so close to home, had him feeling anxious. It surprised him because it's been years since he felt this way. He truly believed that things really did change for the better. He just felt like an idiot knowing that things had to go this far for the change to come.

Ever since his threat towards Karin, he hasn't been bothered by her, thank Kami. Because he was being serious. Being one of Konoha Commercial's top pilots, he could easily pull a few strings and since he had influential friends, it really wasn't that hard to sabotage Karin's chances of applying for a new job. She obviously favored her job above him, which was a wise move, according to Sasuke.

He had only a few hours to rest up after his eight hour flight from Europe. Around 10 PM his next flight will leave. They were going to Dallas first and afterwards, heading straight to San Francisco. Depending on the aircraft, weather and traffic, this might become a six hour flight. It could even be an eight hour flight if the gods worked against his favor.

Since he had seven hours of temporary freedom, Sasuke decided to take a nap first. Being a pilot is a very stressful and intense job and being on the high alert during a flight can drain up a lot of energy. So, as usual, he freshened up first before going to bed. He wanted so badly to call Hinata first but his tired body decided against him. He fell asleep the moment his head hit the pillows.

When he woke up, he had around two hours left before his flight started. With a sigh, he decided to hit the showers again. He wanted to be awake as much as he can; flying when one is tired is very dangerous, even when there's a co-pilot right next to him. Because Sasuke's the captain, he didn't want to risk anything. If something were to happen, he would take on the responsibility, even if the error is to blame on someone else.

Arriving at the airport, it didn't surprise him that it was so busy and crowded. Hell, when is an international airport NOT crowded, sounds like a much better question. Sasuke went straight to the personnel lounge, where he took the files intended for him. He looked over them, checking the statistics, weather reports and status of the plane. When everything seemed sound, he still had some time left before boarding, so he decided to take a walk in the small shopping area of the port. Strolling around the small shops, Sasuke came by a jewelry store. He would've walked by it easily if something beautiful hadn't caught his eye.

It was a stunning platinum ring with a pearl on it. The pearl wasn't big; instead it was modest and of reasonable size. On either side of it were what looked like small starfish. Sasuke felt intrigued by the ring, so he stepped into the store and asked the clerk if he could take a closer look at it. The clerk, who didn't fail to notice Sasuke's uniform, didn't hesitate to help because he knew that this client wasn't just window shopping.

Now that he had the ring in his hands, he could see it much better. The small starfish were adorned with the smallest diamonds, making it sparkle beautifully. The pearl itself was so pure and seemingly untouched, that he could almost see his own reflection in it. Its design was actually quite simple but it was still elegant. It made him think of his wife. It reminded him of her own pearly eyes and her modesty and simplicity. He knew immediately that he wanted to give this to her, and he bought the ring without hesitation. The ring came in a dark blue velvet box, and he put it in his pocket as he walked out the store. He felt excited for reasons he couldn't quite understand. It was almost like the time he proposed to Hinata. It was a weird feeling but he welcomed it. Having the ring in his pocket now made him even more eager to get home.

Going over all his files again, Sasuke kept an eye on his co-pilot. Konohamaru Sarutobi was a relatively young flier but he had ties with the owner of Konoha Commercial so it wasn't hard to guess how he got the job. At the moment, Sasuke was observing his partner, trying to assess him, wondering if he was well fit to fly this bird. Konohamaru, even though he might be much younger than him with less flight time, proved to be very thorough. That pleased the Uchiha and managed to ease him somewhat. But the plane's responsibility still solely rested in his hands.

"Everything seems to be the way it should, captain," Konohamaru said to Sasuke as he took a last look at the clipboard in his hands. "I think we're ready to fly."

"I think so, too," Sasuke commented as he nodded his head. "Let's take her in the air. Will you do the announcements?"
Konohamaru's eyes lit up like fireworks.

"Seriously? You want me to do the announcements?" he asked, just to be sure he wasn't hearing things.

"Yeah, sure," Sasuke answered with a smile. He was in a very good mood today. "Go ahead."

"Alright," Konohamaru replied excited as he took the mike.

"Welcome everybody, to the Konoha Commercial, heading west for Dallas. This is your co-pilot, Konohamaru speaking. Seems like the weather is calm and the bird in condition. We expect to be taking off soon. Please take you're seats, as we fly you to your destination. Have a nice trip."

With pride, the co-pilot put the mike down. It's the captain's privilege to speak to his passengers and usually it's them who do the talking. Most of the time, the pilots found him to be too much of a guppie to be flying along in the Konoha Commercial, so they never offered him to speak to the passengers. Konohamaru smiled victoriously to the captain sitting next to him. He really appreciated the trust he had in him. He heard of this guy, ofcourse. He was one of the best pilots Konoha Commercial had ever had. His calm and collected demeanor managed to get his passengers through the worse weather. And the fact that Sasuke's the first ever to bestow him with the honors of the mike, made his respect for the elder man grow even more.

"Alright," Sasuke said, as he put on his headphones and switched on the radio. "Let's do this."

Roughly four hours later, Sasuke landed the Konoha Commercial on the international airport in Dallas. He sighed heavily when the iron bird stopped on the runway and the passengers were allowed to step outside. He looked next to him and saw Konohamaru swipe off beads of sweat from his forehead.

"You did a good job, kiddo," the older man said. "Let's have a break."

Konohamaru only offered him a tired smile and stood from his seat, heading for the exit. Sasuke slumped a bit, a little exhausted from the flight to even get up. The trip from Miami to Dallas was by no means smooth sailing. The weather had been extremely bad despite the positive forecast; there were strong winds, precipitation and even a small amount of hail. Apparently his first officer wasn't used to extreme weather because he had been extremely tense throughout the flight. He must've had an enormous desire to be brave because he didn't utter a word or mention anything about his fears. Sasuke appreciated that. A man is supposed to act like that, in his eyes.

'We do not show fear,' he thought to himself as he recalled the brave young co-pilot. 'We remain calm for the sake of those around us, so they would feel safe even when we're uncertain.'

With lead in his shoes, he stood from his seat and headed outside, towards the personnel room of the airport in Dallas. As he stepped into the crowded room, filled with either tired or prepared people, he took a look at his watch. It was a few minutes passed 2 in the morning. His next flight would leave around 2 hours later.

He sighed again, thinking about another session of intense work.

'After this, I might want to get an easier job,' he thought to himself.

He looked around and saw Konohamaru hanging by the coffee machine, pouring himself a warm cup of joe.

'I don't need coffee now,' Sasuke thought. 'Just some rest. That'll do me good.'

Once again, he scanned the area with his eyes. In the far corner of the room, he saw a few empty chairs. His eyes widened a bit from relief. He walked towards the chairs quickly.

'Good place to take a quick nap.'

There are rooms available for pilots to sleep in when they come from various long flights. For the most of them, it was the last flight of their shifts so they prefer to just go home and sleep in their own bed. But for pilots like Sasuke and Konohamaru, who still have another flight to do, the rooms were a very welcoming gesture. Out of experience, Sasuke knew he wouldn't find any empty room here. At least not at this hour, with this weather. So, he didn't bother looking for an empty room. Instead, he took the chair in the farthest corner, sat on it, lowered his cap so it would cover his eyes, and crossed his arms. Sleeping like that was nothing new to him; he'd done it many times before. And, like all other pilots, he knew that any sleep is better than none. Sasuke quickly put his timer on an hour and thirty minutes and dozed off soon afterwards.

When the buzzing of his alarm finally shook him awake, the room had gotten even more crowded, if that was possible. Probably because the sleeping pilots had awoken and new flights had landed. He took a look out the window. Rain. Perhaps the reason of the crowd could also be the delay of flights. He hoped that wouldn't be the case because that meant coming home later and he really wanted to see his wife.

Sasuke stood up and walked to the washroom to wash his face. Feeling fresh, he went up the desk and took the file intended for him. Konohamaru was already paging through some other necessary papers when Sasuke got there. He looked up when he saw the older man.

"Had a nice nap?" he asked him, not looking.

"Reasonable," Sasuke answered. "I didn't see you dozing off. Are you ready for this flight?"

Konohamaru closed the file in his hand and put it on the desk. He supported his weight against it as he gave Sasuke a daring look.

"Who? Me?" he asked, talking tough. "I'm as ready as ever."

He scoffed to prove his point and looked away. Sasuke lifted his eyebrows. Knowing the seriousness of the business, especially in bad weather, he had never seen someone act so…casual before. It reminded him of his own younger years when he felt like there was nothing he wouldn't overcome. Konohamaru's overconfidence made him smile and he chuckled lowly.

"Don't get it way over your head there, freshman," he said sarcastically. He put his stoic façade back on.

"Have you rested?" he asked again.

Konohamaru sighed and chuckled uneasily. Sasuke noticed a light blush on his cheeks.

"Tell you the truth, captain," he admitted. "I haven't done any shut eye at all. I just couldn't! I can't help thinking that we'll be home soon. I'm so excited to get home and that's what kept me awake."

"What's the rush?" Sasuke asked. "Everyone knows that you need to rest whenever you can, especially on long flights."

"Yeah, I know," he answered, rubbing the back of his head. "But like I said, I'm too excited. My wife's pregnant and spending time with them is very important to me. I just can't wait to head back."

Sasuke's heart burned for a moment when he heard that. It still stings knowing what one is incapable of doing. Especially when it's something only a man is able to do. But at the same time he felt happy for the young pilot.

"I know how you feel," he told Konohamaru. "Getting home soon is also what I intend on doing."

He thought of Hinata, remembering the way she looks and the way she loves him.

"Let's get this job over with then," he said and walked out the personnel room.

Despite the downpour, the stats said that it was still good enough weather to fly in. Considering the fact that a delayed flight also meant loss of money, it didn't surprise Sasuke that Konoha Commercial got the order to sail in the sky. Cross checking and rechecking everything once the pilot and his first officer were in place, the bird made for the dark morning sky.

In good, calm weather, the Konoha Commercial could get its clients from Dallas to San Francisco in less than two hours. However, this wasn't calm weather. Sasuke was flying in very restless and unpredictable weather. He found himself to be staring at his radar and communicating with the weather stations on land constantly. And although he didn't show it, Konohamaru knew that the pilot was a little tensed. Hell, he himself was tense! One wrong move and the bird could be heading for a one way trip to disaster!

But Sasuke's calm aura managed to put Konohamaru at ease. And he appreciated that. It makes for less nervous flying.

Despite the bad weather and the struggles the pilot and his first officer were dealing with, the passengers didn't seem to notice anything out of the ordinary. Only the lightning through the sky and the light turbulence attracted some attention. The flight attendants were a little nervous as well but were trying not to say it with their body language. Fear and uncertainty can be very contagious and restless people in a flying aircraft is the last thing they want now!..

When there was only about fifteen minutes of flying left to do, Sasuke took a sigh of relief and finally allowed his muscles to relax a bit. This has indeed been a very strained flight. He found it to be odd because the weather reports weren't as bad as it was in reality. Was there something wrong with the system? If so, than the airline has some serious issues to fix.

Attempting to soothe his aching neck muscles, Sasuke let his first officer take the reins and dropped his head. Then he turned his head in a circle, with eyes closed, trying to relax. He took another deep breath, opened his eyes and stared aimlessly at all the buttons on the plane's dashboard.

Quite randomly, his eyes met the little round screen with hues of green, yellow, orange and red. His weather radar seemed to be doing fine. But as he stared at it a little longer, he noticed that the screen wasn't adjusting to the new readings the radar should collect. He tapped the screen and immediately it changed its looks. But what it turned into, made the pilot very nervous.

"Oh my god," he heard his first officer say. He sounded very frightened and he had reason to be. According to the radar, they were flying straight to a possible deadly natural phenomenon! Sasuke didn't hesitate any moment. He picked up the mike and immediately ordered for Susan to come to the cockpit.

"Should we be worried?" Konohamaru asked uncertainly. He didn't know whether he should be afraid for his life or not because he'd never flown over this kind of weather phenomena before. He heard it caused some airplane crashes in the past but there were also records of pilots who made it safely. He looked at his senior, expecting an answer. Having flown with him for the past seven hours, he was able to read some of his stoic expression and the one that he was given now, was definitely not putting his mind at ease. Just when Sasuke was about to answer his question, the door to the cockpit opened and a blond woman between the thirties and forties, stepped in. She had on a pair of metal framed glasses and the Konoha Commercial uniform for flight attendants. Her hair was brought together in a high pony tail and she had an overall clean and neat look.

"You called, captain Uchiha?" she asked, smiling.

"Susan, we've got some troubles," he answered her, without looking. Sasuke has worked with Susan long enough to trust that she'll doing anything that's necessary. She isn't the kind to freak out. She's more the kind of woman who acts and thinks of strategies. That's why he was fond of her…and why she's in charge of all the flight attendants in this aircraft.

Susan stiffened when she heard the tone of Sasuke's voice. She immediately knew that could mean one thing: danger.

"We're heading straight for a micro burst," he continued. "But from the looks of it, it's going to be a little bigger than just 'micro'. I need you to ready the passengers. If the plane goes down, I'm going to try to aim for water. You know what to do."

"Yes, captain," she answered as her mind started racing, and immediately left the cockpit to tell the others about the plan forming in her hand.

"Get ready for some serous experience points, kiddo," Sasuke said to Konohamaru. "This is going to be a rough ride."

"Do you remember what a micro burst is?" he asked his first officer.

"I-I.."

"Let me refresh your memory, since we only have a few minutes till impact," Sasuke interrupted him.

"The micro burst is too close for us to go around it," Sasuke explained. "So, we'll just have to go through it.

A micro burst is an area with strong winds, heading straight for the earth. This is mostly caused by very dry weather and high temperatures.

I want you to hold on tight when we reach the first signs of the micro burst: strong winds and turbulence."

Right at the moment, the airplane started shaking slightly.

"I guess my time was up," Sasuke said more to himself than to Konohamaru. He picked up the mike and spoke to his passengers:

"Good morning, everybody, this is your captain, Uchiha Sasuke, speaking. We're heading for some bad weather conditions. Please tighten your seatbelts and it is very important to follow each and every instructions the flight attendants might give you. It is also very important to stay calm. We will get through this."

"We are first going to notice a difference in speed," he said to Konohamaru, acting as if the lesson never stopped. "But we aren't going to decrease speed. Instead, we're going to increase it."

Konohamaru watched as Sasuke pulled the speed lever up. He swallowed a big ball of spit as he watched the weather in front. He heard hail falling on the aircraft which made no effort in comforting him.

"This is where it gets tricky, kid," Sasuke said, strained. "The wind that's 'falling down', will hit us hard, sending us tumbling to the ground. The trick is to keep the airplane going straight, keeping the nose up. If we're lucky, the down burst won't last too long."

Konohamaru nodded, beads of cold sweat dropping down his forehead in anticipation of what's to come. It was pretty cloudy now. He had hoped to see his city of San Francisco. He had hoped to see any trace of his wife. This is not how he wants his life to end. He can't die!

Viciously, he shook his head. He didn't want to think these negative thoughts! He needs to get home, for the sake of his family, the family that he was just starting with the love of his life.

Sasuke's mind was as restless as Konohamaru's. He's been through some micro bursts before but the fact that this one's unannounced and bigger than usual, made him doubtful. An air crash was very much possible right now. But if they did go down, he wanted to save as many lives as possible. He only wished he had called Hinata up to tell her he loved her. There was no time for that now.

"Help me keep her nose up, Sarutobi," Sasuke said to Konohamaru as he pulled the steering wheel up. "And get ready; it'll be here soon."

Even though Sasuke's mind was a little jumbled with the thoughts of possible death, he still couldn't help but wonder why the underground weather stations didn't warn him about the burst. Could something have been damage?

All of a sudden, the pilot and his first officer both felt the plane being pushed down rapidly.

"Pull up, Konohamaru!" he yelled to him.

Giving it everything he got, Konohamaru pulled up. The cloud, which was covering their vision had now disappeared and in front of him was the beautiful city of San Francisco. They were supposed to land on the San Francisco international airport but for now, it was too far away. The down burst caused the aircraft to lose altitude and being this low, with this speed wasn't a very good combination.

Very slowly, Sasuke saw that his machine was gaining altitude but not fast enough. If the down pour of wind continued, a crash would be inevitable.

"Head for the water," he told his co-pilot. "It's our best chance of survival, if we're going down.."

Sasuke didn't believe his own words. The first known fatalities in an airplane crash is always the pilot. But he wanted Konohamaru to still have hope. He should fly the plane with hope and not desperation. Even when your own life's at stake, it's very important to remain objective. He wanted to live too but at the moment, many lives were in his hands and he wanted to save as much of them as he can. He sighed when he saw that they were flying over water. It got some weight off his shoulder. But Sasuke's little victory was short lived: they were above water now, with the aircraft gaining some altitude, but the force of the wind pushing them down wasn't decreasing and if it kept on like this…

Sasuke felt his heart beat racing when he noticed something alarming: they weren't going to make it. The wind was just too strong! And they only had seconds left!

"Different strategy!" he yelled. "Fly straight! Glide on water!"

Konohamaru tried his best to remain calm and do his job properly. His breathing had quickened as well but he refused his panic tot take over from him.

Quickly, Sasuke grabbed for the mike.

"Brace for impact!"

'I love you, Hinata,' he thought. He could see the water of the San Francisco Bay clearly now. Together with Konohamaru, he tried to make the perfect angle for gliding on water. He noticed that his nose was up a little too high. But then he heard a crash and the airplane was violently shaking. Before he could fully realize what had happened, his vision turned black…

xoxoxoxoxo

When Hinata's alarmed went off at eight in the morning, she lazily slapped it shut. She sighed happily. Today, Sasuke would arrive home and she was excited. According to his last call, he should actually be here by now. But considering the bad weather Sasuke's been complaining about, she wasn't surprised he wasn't here yet. It's not uncommon for planes to be delayed. Him being home a little later was actually an advantage to her because now she can ready herself for his arrival. Humming the song they played on their wedding, she took off her clothes to take a shower. While she washed her hair, she remembered all the good moments she had with him.

'Is he really back?' she wondered as she remembered the change she saw in him since that horrible day.

'Will I finally have my happy ever after?'

As she wrapped herself in a bathrobe and covered her hair in another towel for it to dry, she walked towards the kitchen, making herself some toast and coffee. As she blew the hot steam away from her creamy drink, she turned on tv.

"Ellen should be on right now," she said to herself.

As she watched Ellen dance her way through the audience, Hinata turned around to slab some butter on her toast. Then she suddenly heard her channel change to something different. She looked up and saw a news reporter in a trench coat. Behind her is what looked like San Francisco Bay.

"We interrupt the show for breaking news," she said. Hinata felt funny but in an uneasy way. She stepped away from her toast and took the coffee in her hands again. She wasn't going to drink it but she felt like she needed something to hold on to.

"Around seven a.m this morning, a terrible accident happened in the city of San Francisco. People of the city were shocked to see and hear that an airplane had crash landed in the San Francisco Bay."

Hinata's grip on the cup tightened and she felt her heart being clenched tightly by some unknown force.

"According to my sources, it seems to be an aircraft of Konoha Commercial…"

'No…' was her first thought. 'Please Kami, don't let it be him.'

"Hold on," the reporter said as she pressed the communication device closer to her ear. "I have interesting news from an anonymous source that the pilot of the airplane was Uchiha Sasuke, the son of a well known real estate giant…"

Everything else just blurred out of Hinata's sights as her eyes were brimming with tears. She felt her hands becoming numb and she didn't even hear her cup shatter on the floor.

"No…," she said softly, her voice shaking. "It can't be…"

She walked closer to the tv as if she wanted to see for herself if the plane really was from Konoha Commercial.

"You can't do this to me, Sasuke," she pleaded, sobbing. Her tears falling from her face, quicker than she wanted. She was still riddled with disbelieve and she wasn't willing to accept a damn thing from that reporter! She had to go see for herself. And if he's really dead, she had to at least see his body!

Picking herself up, she stumbled to her bedroom, going through her closet and randomly taking out whatever was in her sight. Her sobs were heavy enough to make breathing harder and she constantly had to wipe the tears of her face just to see what she's looking at. When she wanted to wear her garments, she was so easily frustrated with the simple things she had to do. Angry, she threw the damn shirt away and stumbled back into the closet to find something easier. When the shirt she picked got stuck between some clothes hangers and didn't come along with her as she pulled at it, she finally broke down. She fell to the floor and cried her eyes out, as loud as she could. They were heartbreaking cries. She aimlessly pulled at the surrounding clothing and threw away the shoes in her vicinity. How could this happen… How could Sasuke just…die?

A/N: Cliffy! Bet you didn't see that coming, hehe XD

Sorry for the long wait! I just hope this is worth it. My exams went well, I made some others along the way and I finally had the time to finish the plot I had planned for this chapter. I told you things would get worse! Just so you know: I was inspired by an episode of an airplane crash investigation serie that I'm so fond of. That's where this story started to form in my head.

I would finally like to thank you for your patience and love! Please leave a review!
