Nothing much to say, I don't own Pokemon…obviously. Otherwise I wouldn't be writing this fanfic.
Eternal - Secrets Revealed
Normal POV
Paul burst into the house, his temper was at an all-time high and he was about to snap at any moment. The other three males were sitting on the couch and jumped at his sudden appearance, aside from Drew who could hear him coming.
"Uh dude, you ok?" Ash asked and Paul glared coldly at him.
"Am I ok? You stupid moron! Does it look like I'm ok?" he shouted, making the two humans flinch.
Drew stood up, knowing that this wasn't going to end well if he didn't intervene soon.
"Gary, Ash, you should go upstairs. I'll deal with this."
They looked at each other and nodded, then proceeded to head upstairs without saying a word.
Drew turned to Paul. "What the hell was all that about?"
"What the hell do you think?" he snarled, yet Drew remained unaffected.
"I don't know anything anymore! Ever since those girls-
"Don't even mention them!" Paul roared and slammed his fist onto the counter.
"Paul I can't help you if you won't tell me what happened."
The purple haired vampire ran a hand through his hair in an attempt to calm down, and it seemed to have the wished effect.
"Misty. She's a vampire."
Drew's eyes widened. "How is that possible?" he growled out through clenched teeth.
"You've heard those things they mutter under their breath! You have seen all the signs, what else could it be? You can't seriously tell me you believe that garbage about her lip getting cut did you?"
The chartreuse haired boy sighed in defeat, and thought for a moment. "I know, that was a lie and anyone besides Ash and Gary could see it. But we don't have any other proof."
"I found this by an animal when I was hunting," Paul told him, holding out the lock of hair.
Drew shrugged. "So it's enough for us, but it's not going to convince anyone else to believe us. They aren't going to admit it, and Ash definitely won't believe it unless he hears it from Misty's mouth."
"Then we get more."
"How? We can't just walk up to them and go: Hey Misty, I was just wondering if you're a blood-thirsty killer that's been roaming the world for hundreds of years," the green haired boy pointed out.
"No, but what about those bottles? All we have to do is nab one of them," Paul replied.
"Okay that I'll agree with, but small problem. Ash is going be heart broken, you know how he feels about killers. Especially vampires….."
"I don't care! She shouldn't have come back in the first place," he snarled.
"Fine. But how exactly are we going get those bottles? They keep them on sight twenty-four seven, not to mention we can't uncover their secret without telling them ours."
Paul looked at Drew with an evil smile, and a cold look in his eyes.
"Then maybe it's time we did."
"ASH, GARY, GET DOWN HERE!"
The two boys shot up out of bed in shock and crashed to the floor as the voice boomed across the house. Knowing that Paul still could have been in one of his moods, they both quickly untangled themselves and rushed down the stairs.
"Is everything alright?" Gary asked slowly, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
Paul didn't reply, but there was a strange look in his eye…almost one of pure triumph.
"Everything is fine. Go and get ready, we are making a minor…detour before school," Drew replied.
Ash shot Gary a confused look, but neither argued. Instead they both trudged back upstairs and got ready at record speed, then returned to see the other two waiting patiently.
"So where are we going?" Ash asked, only half there seeing as he was still trying to wake up.
"I think it's time we pay the girls a little visit," Paul answered with a cold smile.
Ash's POV
As if I wasn't already confused enough by the way Paul was acting, his words took the cake. The girls house? Paul doesn't even like spending time with them in class, let alone seeing them out of school. So naturally, I was a little confused at his request, and by the look on Gary's face so was he. But when Paul wanted something he got it, we knew better than to question him.
Instead I shrugged it off and reminded myself that going there meant I got to see Misty again. The day I spent with her yesterday afternoon was great, in fact she was great. I even told her about my parents, which I definitely didn't expect to happen. Around her, everything was just so simple and easy, it felt so natural.
It didn't take long before the house came into sight and soon enough we were standing at the front door.
"So why exactly are we here anyway?" I eventually asked as my curiosity got the better of me.
I fully expected Paul to scowl, tell me to shut up and quit being a moron, so you can imagine my surprise when he gave an evil looking smile instead.
"You'll see," he replied mysteriously.
Okaaaay then? Well, so much for that plan. Did I say that my curiosity was meant to be answered? Well scratch that. It just increased to rates even I didn't think was possible.
Drew looked a little worried, but knocked on the door loudly either way.
CLANG!
We flinched at the unexpected noise. Or at least us humans did, seeing as Drew and Paul didn't get surprised easily. It sounded like a frypan dropping…I think.
"Nooo! Not the bacon, you killed it!" a voice shouted from the inside.
"Airhead," I heard Drew mutter under his breath.
"Well excuse me for getting scared!" another voice sounded.
"That's no excuse for dropping breakfast!"
"I didn't see you helping!"
"How am I supposed to catch a fry pan from across the room?"
"I don't know, Misty or Leaf could have!"
"That's different and that pig's died for nothing now!"
"Don't bring the pig into this!"
"Did anyone else hear a knock at the door?" a new person entered the conversation. By this point we were all pretty intrigued to know what was going on, although knowing them it could be anything,
"That's why I dropped the fry pan in the first place!"
Suddenly the door swung open to reveal a very ticked off May, Leaf with her head against the counter and Dawn standing next a pile of what would have been delicious bacon.
Which reminds me, I forgot to have breakfast!
May stood in the doorway and giving us a major death stare.
"So you're the ones responsible for us having no bacon!" she shouted, sticking an accusing finger in Drew's face.
We all gave each other confused glances, save for Paul who rolled his eyes.
She was about to go on, but Leaf came to the rescue with a bowl of chocolate. Needless to say, May went after it like a lost puppy.
After about 5 minutes, Leaf came back again.
"Eh sorry about that. She gets a little emotional over food," she explained sheepishly.
"Typical Airhead," Drew smirked.
"I HEARD THAT CABBAGE BRAIN!" May shouted from further in the house.
"So Leafy, you come to see me?" Gary grinned, making the brunette roll her eyes.
"Actually trunk, I believe you are the one standing on my doorstep. So why are you here?" she replied with annoyance.
"Aww co-
"We thought that you girls might like some company on the way to school," Paul interrupted, his voice laced with something I was too scared to think about.
The brunette looked at Paul with what looked like worry, but it only lasted a brief second before a smile was in its place.
"Oh sure. Come on in, we won't be too long," she answered.
He nodded and stepped inside with us in tow. She shut the door behind us, and Gary immediately turned his attention to her.
"So babe, how about we head to your room? I haven't had a full tour of your house yet," he flirted.
"And it's going to stay that way," Leaf scoffed before walking over to the counter where Dawn was.
Dawn rolled her eyes from the fry pan and set to work on cleaning it up. Just then, Misty came bounding down the stairs.
"Hey Dawn, where did you put the- oh, hi guys. What are you doing here?" she question with a surprised look on her face.
My face lit up and my heart started beating so hard I thought it was going to burst out of my chest. Drew must have heard, because he smirked in my direction and gave a knowing glance at Misty. Paul remained indifferent, but he must have noticed due to his enhanced hearing. Either way, he sent a glare in her direction and I frowned at him.
Misty's face changed to one of concern.
"Uh, is everything alright?"
I snapped out of my train of thought and smiled at her.
"Hey Mist! We're here to walk you to school," I answered happily, to which she gave a surprised look at.
Dawn dropped the fry pan. Uh, again…
"Would you stop doing that?" came May's agitated voice from somewhere in the house.
"Oh. That's uh…that's great! Yeah great. Just give us a few minutes to get ready. Dawn?" Misty replied giving the girl in question a look. Dawn shot us a glance before following Misty upstairs.
"What was all that about?" Gary spoke up after several seconds of awkward silence.
Paul muttered something under his breath which Drew must have heard because he gave the stairs a frown, but I remained confused as ever. What was with all these looks? Why were we at their house when Paul couldn't stand the sight of them? I wasn't complaining about that last one, but still. There was something they were keeping from us.
Instead of answering I just stayed still, and the other two weren't going to respond anytime soon so Gary let the subject drop. Just then the sound of a door slamming upstairs was heard and May came down the stairs slowly. A small, red bottle was barely visible as it clung to her belt.
"Hi guys, the others won't be long," she said quietly and walked out the door, leaving us, Drew especially, bewildered. Although I really don't think Paul could have cared less.
The green-haired boy was about to speak up when the other three came down stairs at a fast pace. All of them had matching belts to the one May wore, and attached to them were slightly hidden identical bottles, the only difference being the colour.
Huh. I guess they were telling the truth after all.
"Ready?" I asked Misty. She nodded, and walked out the door with the others in tow. I gave one final glance to Gary, before heading out as well with the guys in a line behind me. The walk itself was relatively quiet, and the tension in the air was dang think. If something didn't get said soon I would burst. Gary wasn't even hitting on Leaf for Mew's sake!
Misty walked beside me, with Drew and May behind us. Dawn walked with Leaf to the left, while Gary and Paul walked opposite them. Gary kept shooting glances at Leaf, and I swear Paul was still giving Misty looks out the corner of my eye.
"How's your lip going Mist?" I asked trying to ease the tension a little. Unfortunately, it only seemed to increase it.
Paul bared his teeth and for a second I thought he may have been about to hit something, but he managed to regain his composure and resort to his usual scowl. Watching this was Drew, who gave a minor frown but remained normal otherwise.
Misty stiffened next to me. Geez, what was with everyone this morning?
"Uh my lip? You mean from the bottle?"
I nodded like it was the most obvious thing in the world. The other girls seemed a little fidgety, and looked on to see her reaction.
"Yeah it's alright now. Just a small thing, no big deal." she shrugged it off easily.
I frowned. "But Misty, you were bleeding! How can th-
"She said it was nothing okay? Just drop it already!" Leaf snarled from next to Dawn causing everyone to flinch in surprise.
"You sure are getting worked up over 'nothing'. Are you sure that's all it is?" Paul spoke up, a cold look on his face.
The brunette continued snarling but remained silent, and Misty visibly gulped.
"Oh look, we're here! See you guys later," the red-head announced and ran off with the other girls quickly following suit.
"Wait, we're in the same class! Leafy!" Gary called out after them.
"What was all that about?" I asked, earning a glare from Paul.
"I don't know, but it's time we found out," he growled quietly and walked off.
We started to follow him, but were held back by Drew.
"Leave him to me, you two better get to class."
"But what about-
"That wasn't an option," he interrupted when we began to argue back. Instead he walked off in the direction Paul had gone, leaving us standing in the middle of the school yard.
"Those two are getting weirder and weirder," Gary mumbled.
"Agreed. What do you think their keeping from us?" I nodded in agreement.
"I dunno, but I guess we'll find out eventually. If it was that important they would have told us already."
"Either that or Paul would have had us out of town again."
Gary chuckled, remembering one time someone nearly found out their little secret. Paul had completely flipping, and it had taken everything Drew had to keep him from killing someone. Instead we had moved towns. From then on, we moved about once a month until finally deciding here was safe.
I was beginning to have my doubts on just how safe this place really was.
Normal POV
"Misty! Wait up, some of us actually get a shortage of breath you know!" May whisper-shouted to her red-headed friend as she finally caught up.
"Yeah, I know that you wanted to get away but I think we lost them ages ago," Dawn puffed, leaning on a locker for support.
"Sorry girls. It's just that-
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
The morning bell rang, signalling to the students that it was time for class to begin.
Misty slapped her palm to her head as she remembered something. "Oh crap, I left my book in my locker. I'll meet you guys in class okay?"
The girls rolled their eyes, before heading off in their usual direction. Misty turned around and headed along the endless row of lockers, searching for her own. Soon enough she noticed the tell-tale sign of water signs decorating the door.
She walked up to it, and began to start on the combination. Luck however, was not on her side and the lock decided it was the perfect time to jam.
"Ugh! Come on you stupid lock. Why must everything be so child-proof these days?" Misty grumbled to herself.
"That's funny. I thought creatures such as yourself don't have troubles with something so pathetic."
Misty whirled around in shock as a cold voice pierced through her mind, and gasped at the sight of Paul standing there.
"Oh! Paul, I wasn't expecting you. You surprised me."
His scowl increased. "Things like you don't get surprised," he hissed, voice dripping with venom.
Her eyes widened, but she refused to give in just yet. "Wha-what a-are you t-talking about?" Misty stuttered, leaning back against the locked as Paul inched closer.
"Don't play innocent with me Misty. I know your secret."
"What secret?" she gulped.
"You're a killer," he spat.
"What are you talking about?" Misty whimpered quietly, almost so quietly he had to strain to hear her. Paul gave her a cold smile, but it quickly turned into one of hate.
"Stop pretending like you don't know! I saw you, you're a vampire! You're one of them," he spat.
"Vam-vampire? Don't b-be ridiculous. They are o-only a m-myth," she tried defending, but it wasn't working.
"STOP ACTING LIKE YOU DON'T KNOW! YOU ARE A KILLER, STOP DENYING IT!" Paul roared and brought his slammed his hand up to her throat.
Drew had been in search of Paul for a while now, and even with his hearing and sense of smell he wasn't doing a very good job and tracking the plum-haired vampire. There were to many scents to properly get a solid trail on his scent, and with all the kids around it was getting impossible to even hear him.
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIING!
Suddenly the bell rang, and he was having thoughts about going back to class when he rounded a corner and straight into…
Leaf Green.
"Ouch! You have a hard head," she complained, rubbing her temple.
"I could say the same about you," he mumbled.
"What are you doing out of class anyway?" Leaf inquired raising an eyebrow and he smirked.
"Looking for Paul. I could say the same about you."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm looking for Misty. She went to get a book and didn't come back."
His eyes widened. "Misty?" Oh boy. Paul wasn't in the best mood with Misty right now, this couldn't be good.
The brunette frowned at him." Yeah, why?"
"We may have a problem," he replied.
"STOP ACTING LIKE YOU DON'T KNOW! YOU ARE A KILLER, STOP DENYING IT!" a voice shouted from not far away.
They glanced at each other and raced off in the direction the yell came from.
"Vampires don't exist Paul! You're crazy. LET GO OF ME!" Misty screamed and tried to wiggle out of his grasp, which was difficult seeing as she couldn't use her full strength against him.
Just then Leaf and Drew came bolting around the corner.
"Oh my god Misty! Let go of her you creep!" the brunette screeched and lunged at Paul, who simply ignored her.
"Paul what do you think you're doing? Put her down!" Drew yelled and attempted to haul the furious boy off Misty.
"She's a killer! Name one reason I should," He snarled.
"It won't help anything! How will hurting her help you? There's no proof!" Leaf yelled.
He looked at the green-haired boy and lost the frown. The three relaxed, but suddenly Paul reached for Misty's belt and yanked the bottle out, tossing the lid to the side. The boy was hardly surprised at the contents, but that didn't make him any less angry.
Rose red blood.
Leaf and Drew gasped, while Misty looked on with fear in her eyes at the fuming, yet triumphant boy. As quick as the fear was there, she lost the look and hauled him off her with ease, slamming him into the wall across from them.
"I knew it," he spoke coldly, with a look of half triumph and half malice.
"So what? You have your proof. I'm a vampire ok? Are you happy?" Misty spat through clenched teeth.
"Not one bit. Killers like you shouldn't be allowed to live."
"I'm not a killer! Why does it matter so much anyway? And how the hell do you even know?" she argued.
"Maybe I'm not as innocent as I seem."
"You hardly ever struck me as the innocent type," the red-head scoffed.
"Because I'm not," he snarled and grabbed her bottle, bringing it to his lips and draining the contents in a few gulps.
The girls gasped in shock, while Drew gaped at him.
"So you're one as well then?" Leaf whispered and Paul snapped his head towards her.
"Took you long enough."
"You hypocrite! How can you call me a killer when you are one yourself?" Misty screeched.
"I was never a killer! I'm not like you, you're a murderer. Creatures like you shouldn't be here, why did you even come back? The humans in your other town not enough for you?" he snarled.
"I already told you I don't kill. Stop comparing me to those things!"
"You are those things! I bet you even use the others as your own private snacks."
"Paul that's enough!" Drew intervened, grabbing his shoulder.
The purple-haired boy shrugged him off. "Don't touch me," he hissed and stalked away.
Drew turned his gaze to Misty, his eyes turning cold as he looked her over.
"I can see why you kept this from us, but it doesn't change the fact that you are what you are," he spoke icily.
She glared at him with just as much fervour.
"You're not so innocent either Drew. I'm not the only thing with something to hide," Misty spat with venom before walking away towards her class.
He focused his attention to Leaf, who hadn't spoken the entire time.
"I take it you all knew?"
She didn't reply, just looked at him with an unreadable expression. "You can't blame Paul for the way he acted. Creatures like Misty are the reason his family is dead."
Again she didn't respond. Instead she turned away and began walking off in the same direction as Misty had gone off in.
"You can't just ignore this Leaf!" he shouted out after her and she spun around.
"Why can't you just leave it Drew? You have no idea what Misty's been through, what we've all been through! We left to get away from all of this, from her kind. Don't judge before you know the full story," he spoke harshly before turning away once more. "Oh and Drew? You can't hide it forever. She'll find out eventually," Leaf called out with her back still turned.
Her last words left Drew in the hallway stunned. He couldn't move.
Just how much did they really know?
