Chapter 10: Gildarts

Up high in the sky where no one could see was a 12 year old half saiyan boy in his super saiyan 2 form.

Gohan was throwing punch after punch and kick after kick. His face was contorted into a hardened look of concentration. 'You will never be as perfect as I am fool! I will kill you and everyone you love!' Cell screamed out with a bellowing laugh.

Gohan snarled as his swings became more powerful and faster. 'Thats it. Swing faster and harder. Become a challenge for me. Entertain me for as long as you can.'

After a few more minutes Gohan finally stopped swinging. He let his arms down and dropped his transformation.

'This image training is actually working better than I thought.' Gohan thought over the link.

'I told you so. Don't forget to meditate every now and again too. Also rest your body when you need too. Rest is just as important as training your body.'

Gohan chuckled. 'I know dad.' He put two fingers to his forehead and closed his eyes in concentration. After a few minutes he opened his eyes as sweat dripped down his face. 'I still can't get the Instant transmission down. I can't even disappear yet.'

Goku laughed. 'You won't get it that fast son, but I will say you are coming along quite nicely if I do say so myself. It took me a year to perfect the technique. You'll probably have it down within six months. Your potential is unbelievable.'

Gohan smiled. 'Thanks dad. I wish I could see you though. I really miss you and everyone else. Hows mom doing?'

'She's doing better. she's starting to show now.'

Gohan frowned. 'I can't believe I'll have a baby brother and I won't even be able to see him.'

'You'll see him Gohan. Bulma is building a machine right now. I can't believe a year went by for you already. Its only been a few months here.'

'Time moves faster in this universe. I never even thought that was possible.'

'I hate to interrupt, but this link is really taxing on me.' King kai blarted out.

Goku sighed. 'I guess this is goodbye for now Gohan. I'll talk to you soon. Take care of yourself. I promise we'll bring you back to this dimension.'

Gohan smiled. 'I know. I love you dad. Tell everyone else that I love them and tell Bulma not to work to hard. I'm okay for the time being so she doesn't have to pull all nighters and work herself to the bone for my sake.'

'You're really growing up son. Be careful and be sure to stay on alert. I love you son. Take care.' Goku said as his presence left his sons mind.

Gohan smiled. "I might not be home, but I have a home in fairytail. As long as I can fight for and with them I'll be okay." Gohan flew back to his house to take a shower. After finishing up he walked outside towards the guild.

While he was walking bells were going off in the city.

"Huh? I wonder what thats all about. Maybe someone at the guild knows." Gohan ran to the guild at a brisk pace. He opened the door to hear his friends yell and cheer about Guildarts coming back.

"Huh? Gildarts? Who is that? Are they in the guild? I don't think I ever heard that name before." Lucy said.

Mirajane smiled. "He's the strongest wizard in fairytail."

Lucys jaw dropped. "What are you serious? I thought Erza was the top dog around here."

"All modesty aside I don't even hold a candle to him." Erza answered.

"Everyone sure seems so excited." Wendy said.

Carla nodded. "Yes they're acting way more wild than usual."

"Well thats to be expected. Its been a while since Gildarts been here. Three years in fact."

"Three years? Thats crazy. What has he been doing all this time?" Lucy asked.

"Well you see there's regular quest, S-class quest and SS-class quest, and decade quest. Decade quest are quest that having been completed in ten years." Mira explained.

Erza nodded. "Gildarts took a quest even higher than that. A century quest."

"You gotta be kidding me!" Lucy exclaimed. "Who in their right minds will take on a quest that lasted 100 years."

"Well there me for one." Gohan said as he approached the ladies. "Hi guys!"

Lucy, Erza, Mira, and Wendy all greeted him.

The buildings of magnolia shifted into a walkway for Guildarts to walk to the guild.

Gohan stood astonished. "What was that all about?

Erza chuckled. "Its a pathway for Gildarts. He usually destroys everything he touches with his crash magic."

Gildarts walked into the guild and looked around. He walked up and stopped in front of Mirajane.

"Sorry to bother you miss, but I'm looking for a guild that use to be around these parts called fairy tail."

Gohan sweat dropped. 'This is the strongest person in fairy tail? He doesn't seem very bright. Well then again dad is the strongest back home and he's not the brightest either.'

"This is it. Don't you remember me? I'm Mirajane!"

"Mira? Wow! You sure have grown up a lot little girl. And have you changed some stuff around the hall too?" Gildarts said as he looked around.

Lucy and Gohan both hung their heads. 'He just now noticed that?' They thought at the same time.

"Gildarts!" Natsu yelled from atop the stairs.

Gildarts smiled. "Natsu! Now there's a face I remember.

Natsu grinned and jumped off the stairs with his fist cocked back. "Good to see you now lets party!"

Gildarts caught him with one hand and threw him up in the ceiling. "Not now kid."

Natsu laughed. "He's still so awesome."

Gray smirked. "Still the same tough guy.

Gildarts looked around at everyone. "I see some new faces. A lot has happened since I've been gone.

"Gildarts!" Makarov called.

Gildarts walked over to him. "Hey master you're looking good."

"How did the mission go?"

"No good. It was too much for me." Gildarts said causing everyone, except Wendy, Carla, Lucy and Gohan to be shocked.

"I see so the mission was a fail."

"I'm sorry for bringing shame to our guild."

"No you only brought yourself back in one piece. That's no small feat in its self. As far as I know you're the only one whose made the journey home alive. There;s only a few century quests around and the one you chose was the hardest one. "

"Thanks boss. Now I gotta get home and actually start to feel alive and rest my weary bones. Oh Natsu stop by later. I brought something back for you." Gildarts said as he walked out the door.

"So that was... Something." Gohan said. "I can't believe he's the strongest though. I was sure Laxus was the strongest."

"You know I would actually love to see who wins between Gohan and Gildarts." Gray threw out.

Erza put her finger to her chin in thought. "I don't know. I never seen Gildarts go all out, and I haven't seen Gohan go all out either. They're both unbelievably strong. Gildarts has more experience, but Gohan has a lot of raw power."

Elfman turned to Gohan. "What about it Gohan? Think you can beat him."

Gohan looked serious. "I don't know. He seems powerful, but I never seen him fight, so I can't answer that question. I would love to fight him, but he definitely needs his rest right now. Century quest are no easy feats. I was pushed to my physical limit on mine." 'I almost had to ascend to super saiyan 2 on that quest. Gildarts might be able to challenge me even in my super saiyan form. I hope he can. I desperately need a sparring partner.'

Just then Gajeel entered the hall. "Hey kid are you ready?"

Gohan turned with a smile. "Of course." He turned back to Erza. "Hey Erza you want to come. I need some training partners. This will benefit you as well. "

Erza smirked. "Sounds like fun. I'm in."

Gohan nodded. "Gray can you come too please."

"Sure. I have nothing better to do anyway. "

"If gray is going then Juvia shall attend too!" Juvia said.

Gohan smiled. "Sure the more the merrier."

Kana walked up behind Wendy and gave her a gentle push. "Wendy wants to go to. She wants to see how you train and fight."

Wendy looked a Kana confused. "I do?"

Gohan smiled brightly. "Sure! I don't mind. I'd be happy if you came."

Wendy slightly blushed. "Okay I'll come along then."

Carla sighed. "I guess I'm coming along as well. I don't trust him."

"Well I have nothing to do so I might as long tag along." Lucy said.

Gohan and the rest walked out the door.

Gajeel had a scowl on his face. "I wouldn't have agreed to this if I known it be so crowded.

Gohan chuckled a bit. "Sorry about that. How about this. If you manage to land a hit on me before Erza, Gray and Juvia then I'll do any favor you want from me."

Gajeel smirked. "Game on kid.

-Training Ground-

"Okay so what are we doing?" Gray asked curiously.

"Right now I'm going to train your hand to hand combat. So who all is participating?"

Everyone but Lucy and Wendy raised their hands.

"Okay Erza, Gray, Gajeel, and Juvia I need you to all to fight me without using your magic. You have thirty minutes to land a hit and if you do I'll pay for your dinner tonight. You get to pick the place and get whatever you want."

Gray and Erza smirked. "Okay you have our attention, but why no magic?" Gray asked.

"Simple. Wizards rely on their magic way too much. What if you were unable to use your magic. You would have to fight your opponents with hand to hand combat. Its better to have a back up plan and not need it than to not have one when you need it most."

Lucy nodded. "That actually is a smart idea. We do kind of rely on our magic all the time."

"Overall though it gives you a dual threat. Magic plus hand to hand combat is a great combination." Erza stated.

"I thought we were helping you with your training. It seems to be the other way around." Juvia stated.

Gohan smiled. "That's where you're wrong. I may be fast but it still is pretty hard to dodge attacks from four people at once. I won't be blocking or attacking back. I'll only dodge."

"I saw how fast you are. This still won't be that challenging for you."

Gohan pulled a piece of cloth out his pocket. "That's why I'll be blindfolded."

Wendy's eyes popped out of her skull. "That's crazy! How's he gonna dodge if he's blind folded?"

Carla crossed her arms. "I'll believe it when I see it."

Gohan picked up a stone and placed it in his pocket. He tied the cloth around his eyes so he couldn't see anything. He pulled the stone back out. "I'm gonna throw this up. When it hits the ground that's the signal to begin."

Gohan threw the stone up and all competitors raced towards him as soon as it hit the ground. Gray swung his fist to hit Gohan in the jaw. Gohan tilted his head backwards to avoid it. Juvia launched at him from the front. Gohan ducked under punch and rolled to the side. Erza came with a leg sweep. Gohan jumped in the air. Gajeel jumped when he saw Gohan jump and tried to punch him from behind. Gohan maneuvered his body in mid air so the attack wouldn't hit him. Gohan landed on the ground gracefully and smirked.

"You won't get anywhere like that. Come on! Attack me like you mean it!"

Lucy, Wendy and Carla were stunned into silence at the display they were being shown.

"How can he dodge those hits with a blindfold on?" Lucy said flabbergasted.

Wendy looked just as surprised. "I can't believe he can do this. How is this even possible?"

"He's making it look easy too." Carla stated.

After about 10 minutes they weren't getting any closer to hitting Gohan.

Gajeel stopped attacking and watched as the others kept up their attacks. 'I need to anticipate his movement and strike when he least expects it.' Gajeel kept watching and waiting patiently until he could attack.

Gohan ducked under a punch. He side stepped a kick and jumped over a punch. He stuck out his hand and used Grays head to support him during his mid flip.

'He has to use sounds to avoid hits since he can't see. I have to be quiet. He rarely flips to the side. Its either a front flip or back flip. I just have to be underneath of him before he lands his next flip. I only have a small window to work with, so I have to time this perfectly.' Gajeel thought to himself.

Gohan was still dodging every attack thrown at him. He flipped over a punch.

Gajeels eyes widened. 'This is my chance. Its now or never!' He thought as he ran to where Gohan was going to land. He threw his fist in the air at a falling Gohan. Gohan smiled and turned his body. He threw his hand out and blocked the punch of Gajeel. Gohan landed on the ground and lifted his blind fold.

"Gajeel you win. You can sit out now or you can help the others to try and land a hit on me."

Gajeel smirked. "I think I'll keep at it."

Gohan nodded. "Okay. Theres still 12 minutes left, so come at me."

Everyone started rushing at Gohan. The 12 minutes were up and the only other person that was able to hit Gohan was Erza.

"Well that was something. I didn't think you would be able to dodge us with a blind fold on." Erza stated.

Gray nodded. "Yeah you just continue to amaze us kid."

"I must admit that you are very strong." Juvia said trying to catch her breath.

"you're not even out of breath! Aren't you even a little bit tired." Gajeel yelled.

Gohan chuckled. "That was just a warm up for me. This exercise actually helped out more than you guys think. It increased your hand to hand combat experience. It helped you think differently than you usually do and study how I move in order to hit me. It increased your endurance and stamina as well. You guys did great today."

"So what did you get out of it Gohan?" Wendy said as she, Lucy and Carla walked over.

"It helped me focus on other senses other than sight. It also helped be with fighting multiple opponents at once."

"Well it looked like a walk in the park for you. "Lucy stated.

"Trust me it was harder than you think. No matter how strong you are its hard fighting multiple people that are strong themselves. Now its no way I would've been able to pull that off if they were using magic." Gohan responded.

"Well how about we use magic now?" Gray said as he stood up and cracked his knuckles."

Gohan smirked. "Well I'm not one to turn down a challenge. Lucy, Wendy you guys can join in if you like."

Lucy shook her head. "I think I'm okay."

"I'll have to agree with Lucy on this one." Wendy said.

"Well I'm joining in on the fun!" Natsu said as he ran over. "I can't believe you guys were fighting without me."

Gohan shrugged. "You were catching up with Gildarts. I didn't wanna interrupt."

"Well I'm fired up now! Lets go!"

"Okay then. Everyone against me." Gohan said as he got into a stance.

The battle ended after about an hour of fighting. Everyone was panting and out of breath.

"Man you guys got a lot stronger. I didn't expect that much of an increase in power." Gohan said with a wide smile on his face."

"Yeah, but you're still as strong as ever." Natsu said. "You just wait though. One day I'll beat you."

Gohan smiled. "I'm sure you'll reach your goal Natsu. It'll be the fight of your life though."

Natsu smiled as well. "I wouldn't have it any other way."

"Well lets get back to the guild. Dinners on you tonight Gohan."

Gohan nodded. "Of course. You all did well. Dinner is my treat tonight. You guys go on back to the guild I'll meet you there."

The other members were too tired to argue so they just did as told. When Gohan noticed everyone was gone he turned around. "Whoever you are you can come out now!"

Someone jumped out of the tree's and landed in front of Gohan.

Gohan sighed in relief. "Oh Gildarts its just you."

Gildarts smiled. "So you're the new kid that I've been hearing about. I don't think I've seen anyone beat Erza, Gray and Natsu that easily."

"Well you could do it too Gildarts. You're very powerful yourself."

"Maybe so. I heard you completed a century quest and two decade quest since you've been here."

Gohan nodded. "Yeah I did those last year."

"It only took you a year to do all those three while it took me 3 years for my century quest and I failed it. You're powerful alright, but I don't sense any magic power from you. Why is that?"

"I don't use magic. I use Ki."

"So that's what it's called? I can't say you're the first person I've seen with that ability. I always wondered what that power was" Gildarts mentioned.

Gohan looked shocked. "You know of another ki user? Who is it?"

"I don't know. He had spiky hair. It looked kind of like a palm tree. He had a scar on his face and black and green armor."

Gohan was thinking as hard as he could. ' Spiky hair and palm tree like hair? That sounds like dad, but the scar's and armor means it can't be him. It definitely sounds like a saiyan though.

"Tell me Gildarts did he have a tail?"

Gildarts looked confused. "Tail? No I don't believe so. He had a brown belt though now that I think about it."

Gohan was lost in deep thought. 'How is this possible? Is there a saiyan planet nearby? Did another saiyan end up here? But how is that possible? Who is he?'

"Gohan? Gohan?" Gildarts said trying to get his attention. "GOHAN!" He yelled successfully getting his attention. "Man you were zoned out there. Are you okay?"

Gohan sighed. "Yeah I'll be fine. Do you know where I can find that person?"

Gildarts shook his head. "No I don't. We were in the middle of a fight when a hole in the sky opened up. I didn't understand what was going on. Mystogan came and sealed the hole before anything tragic happened. That guy did get sucked in though. I don't know where that hole leads too."

Gohan nodded. "Okay thank you. That means Mystogan knows something. I have to find him if I want answers."

"Why are you so adamant about this? Do you know who the guy is?"

"Possibly. From you description he sounds like... a family member. I would love to keep talking to you, but I have to get going. If I'm gone too long everyone will start worrying."

Gildarts narrowed his eyes and moved faster than the blink of an eye. He threw a punch at Gohan. Gohan put his palm out and caught the fist with narrowed eyes of his own. He was pushed back from the force of the blow. His feet left drag marks in the ground from being pushed back.

Gildarts smile and retracted his fist. "Sorry about that, but I had to test you for myself."

"So did I pass your test?" Gohan asked with a sly smile.

Gildarts turned and started walking away with a chuckle. "You sure did kid. It was nice meeting you."

Gohan waved. "It was nice meeting you too." Gohans face then dropped from a smile to tense. 'So there's another saiyan that was here on Earthland. I need to find him. Maybe he knows of a way to get home.' Gohan left and went back to the guild. He kept his promise and paid for dinner.

-The next day-

Gohan was walking into the alley picking up stray cats. "Do I really have to do this Gajeel?

Gajeel nodded. "You said one favor and this is my favor. Help me find a talking cat of my own. Every other dragon slayer has one. I need one too."

Gohan sighed. "You don't need a talking cat, but if that's what you want I'll help you."

Clouds started forming and circling the magnolia city.

"I have a bad feeling. Something bad is going to happen." Gohan stated. "I'll be back Gajeel. I need to check on the guild."

Gajeel nodded. "Go ahead."

Gohan was running as fast as he could. He stopped when he spotted Wendy and Mystogan. He started running towards them, but stopped when he saw Wendy running away from him towards the guild.

"Mystogan... Jellah... whoever you are whats going on? Why is Wendy running away? Whats with these clouds."

Mystogan looked up at Gohan and sighed. "I don't have much time to explain, but this town is going to be destroyed. You must leave here now."

Gohans eyes widened. "I have to warn the others at the guild." He jumped up and flew off towards the guild leaving a shocked Mystogan and Carla.

He kept flying until he saw a light from the sky zap the town making everything disappear. Gohan put a barrier around himself just in the nick of time before crashing into the ground. When he opened his eyes he saw that the town disappeared and there was nothing but snow and mountains around.

"What the heck? Everything disappeared and whats with these bubbles."

"What the heck can anyone hear me?" Natsu yelled.

"Don't be foolish. There's no one around to hear you. " Carla stated.

'There's still people here?' Thought Gohan. He jumped up and started flying over to where he heard Natsu.

"That giant hole in the sky is actually the gateway to Edolas. The world on the other side." Carla explained.

"Natsu whats going on everything is gone!" Happy yelled as he floated over.

Wendy smiled at Happy's appearance. "Wait why aren't you two gone? You said Natsu and I are only here because we're dragon slayers, but what about you guys?"

Carla hung her head. "The reason the tom cat and I are still here is because we're from Edolas. I'm afraid that we're to blame for this atrocity."

"So how do we get everyone back." Gohan said as he finally made it to the group.

Wendy smiled brightly. "Gohan!" She ran over and hugged him. Gohan smiled and hugged back.

"I'm glad you're still okay." Gohan said.

"How are you still here? Only dragon slayers, Happy and I should be here." Carla stated.

"I created a barrier around myself." Gohan said as Wendy let go of him. He narrowed his eyes and scowled at Carla. The air crackled around him making everyone take precautionary steps backwards.

"I want answers and I want them now. What is going on?"
