CHERRY'S POV:
"He asked you to be his girlfriend?" Marcia smiled.
I smiled back and nodded, "Yeah, right before our date."
"And you said what…?"
"I said yes."
Her smile grew and she shook me by my shoulders. "Cherry!" I laughed and she stopped shaking me. "Took ya long enough," she teased, "Anyway, Becca told me about the fight you two had."
I frowned. "She did huh…"
"Yeah, but I didn't agree with a word she said about Soda and you… I'm on your side."
I smiled. "Well, thank you… but I think her and the devil are up to something."
"Just to be clear, that's Madeline, right?"
I nodded. "Yeah. I mean, I still got a month and a half of dealing with her and her tricks and she already suspects something going on, like I'm hiding something, ya know?"
She nodded. "But you are hiding something."
"I know but I don't want her to know that! I mean, you know how much her and my parents don't like people from the East Side of town! If she finds out, she'll tell my parents and then I'll never be able to see Soda again."
She put her hand on my shoulder. "Well, till she goes back to Norman, just act normal. Act like you did last time she was back at home. And as for your parents, don't worry about them till they mention anything about it… and look at the bright side."
I scoffed, "Bright side? What bright side?"
"You only have a month and a half of Madeline's reign of terror in your home," she chuckled, "And now you're officially with Soda."
Her second reason was the one that made it feel like my cheeks got pink and a small smile to form on my face. "True, and when my sister goes back to Norman, my parents go off with her for a whole month for some college thing of hers."
We got back to my house not long after. Becca and I were still mad at each other about the argument we had; I was mad at her cause of everything she said about Soda and people form his part of town, she was mad at me cause I was defending them. And as far as I knew, she was mad at Marcia cause she was on my side in this whole thing. Marcia wasn't mad at Becca, but she did think she was beig ridiculous and unreasonable about the whole situation.
I had recently started to realize something about Becca. There were two different types of people, and I don't mean the whole Greaser/Soc disagreement. What I meant was that there were people who saw Greasers and Socs as two different species, like we were not all human or that one was the scum of the earth and the other was better. Then there were people who did see us all as the same, and the only difference was lifestyle and location in town. From recent events, I had started to believe that Becca was one of the people who thought of us as different species.
Both me and Marcia were the ones who saw both groups of people as people, just with different lives. Sure, I'll admit, there were Socs who were terrible, a lot of them were actually. A lot of them thought they were all high and mighty cause they had more money and lived on the better side of town, so they would act like they could do whatever they wanted, when we all knew they couldn't. But because they were the way they were, no one on the West Side would confront them about it cause we knew what they could do. And unfortunately, they were quite a few people like that who not many people liked.
SODA'S POV:
A girl with blonde hair walked into the DX. I stood up from the counter and jumped up a little when I heard the front door slam shut when she walked in. I gave an unsure look and leaned the palms on my hands down on the counter. "Uh… can I help you?" I asked the girl when she was close enough to the counter.
She slammed her hands down on the counter and glared at me, "You better not hurt her, ya Greaser!"
I gave a confused look. "Come again?"
The girl rolled her eyes. "You're going out with Cherry, aren't you?"
"Yeah… why?"
"I just want you to know: I'm her best friend and if you hurt her, I will not hesitate to confront you about it… I know your type and trust me, you may have other people fooled, but it's not gonna work on me!" she snapped. "Got it?"
"This girl is nuts," I thought. I nodded- trying not to show how confused she was making me, "Got it."
She sent another glare at me, turned then started to walk toward the door. Steve walked back in and bumped into the crazy girl, making her stumble backwards a little bit. I saw him look down at her and she looked up at him. I gave another confused look when I saw neither of them were saying anything, just standing there looking at each other like a pair of deer caught in headlights. Steve shook his head about a minute later, looked down for a second then back at her and said something and she said something back. I didn't hear a word either of the two said, and I didn't know if that was good or bad.
They finally walked away from each other; the girl walking out the door, Steve walking toward the counter to go to the garage. He started to walk past me till I grabbed his upper arm and stopped him to ask about the whole thing that just happened. He gave a confused look when he turned. I chuckled a bit, "Ok, what was that?"
He still looked confused. "What was what?" he asked.
I pointed toward the front door. "What was that little encounter you had with blondie over there?"
"Oh, uh… I apologized for bumping into her, that's all."
"That's not all… y'all just stood there lookin' at each other for a minute, what was that?" I smirked at him.
"I thought she was gonna freak out or soemthin', and when she didn't, I got confused and didn't know what to do."
"Well, let's hope for your sake that Evie wasn't walkin' outside and didn't see what happened, especially since you said y'all were having problems."
He gave a heavy sigh, "I don't know man… Evie's been acting real strange lately, and for a while now."
"How?"
"Defensive... almost like she's hidin' somethin' from me, like I'm some cop questioning her about some murder or something."
"Even if y'all break up, you can hook up with blonde hair that you bumped into," I teased.
He rolled his eyes. "Was I this bad before you had asked out Cherry?"
I nodded. "Now ya know how it feels."
With the way he was responding to everything I was asking, it was obvious he had some thing for the girl, and from what I saw, she had a thing for him. But not even a minute before, she had yelling and screaming at me cause I was who I was, and the fact that I was who I was and dating her best friend. That girl still seemed crazy to me with the whole scenario that just happened.
Steve turned to go back to the garage and I turned to follow him till we heard the bell hooked up to the front door ring. We both stopped in our tracks and turned to see that Cherry walked in. Steve hit my arm and smirked at me, obviously forgetting everything we had just talked about. I gave a look and pushed him to the garage, then turned and walked to the counter where Cherry stood with a smile on her face.
"Hey Soda," she smiled.
I smiled back, "Hey Red, what's goin' on?"
Her smile faded a bit. "My sister is at my house right now."
"What's wrong with that?"
"She's just being a pain and I don't feel like getting the Madeline Valance experience. I dealt with that for seventeen years, and still have to even when she's at college."
I chuckled. "Well, what're ya gonna do till later?"
"Honestly, I'm one-hundred percent willing to sit here and wait till your shift is over."
"Really?"
"Well, I'd probably be here anyway doing that." She let out a small chuckle.
I smiled a bit, "Why's that?"
She bit back a smile. "Cause you're here."
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww how sweeeeeeet
Ok, but just to clear something up, when I said that Madeline was going back to Norman, that's where the University of Oklahoma is.
Also, I apologize for any mistakes typed in, for some reason, I can't type today and I don't know why.
Oh! Also, guess what?! I'm working on two books that I wanna try to get published! :D I had originally started them on wattpad, but I put them on hold and I decided I'm gonna try to start over the stories, change some names, keep the plot then when it's done, start looking for publishers!
Oh, also- if you're reading this, you're obviously an outsiders fan, which most likely means you're a Matt Dillon fan and have been waiting (just like me) for May 14 to come so you can watch Wayward Pines! My friend Alex texted me yesterday and she said that she found that the show is only gonna be 10 episodes long T-T so then I looked up the show and I found that it's based off of a book series by some author named Blake Crouch… and now that really pisses me off cause I don't like reading something after I watch it, and I can't even go out and get the books yet cause I'm reading the North and South series by John Jakes from the '80s and watching those shows with Patrick Swayze and James Read so I'm really pissed off about that T-T
But if you're like me, watch the show, then later on, buy the books and get the show on DVD, read the books then watch the show from beginning to end all over again and there ya go :3
Anyway, hope you liked the chapter! Peace from all the hippies of the world! =^-^=
