The rest of the summer went rather quickly for both Teddy and Artemis. They continued to spend time hanging out at each other their houses, Teddy got to meet Alex and Julia and Artemis enjoyed the time she was able to spend at the Burrow, the Weasleys' were slowly becoming her second family. It didn't take long for September 1st to arrive.
Teddy woke up to the smell of his Gran's cooking, remembering what today was he jumped out of bed and ran downstairs to eat. Bursting into the kitchen Teddy was greeted by Artemis and Kingsley sitting at the table with his Gran.
"Good Morning Everyone!" said a very excited Teddy
"Good Morning." They all replied
Teddy sat down and started to eat, it was 9:00am and they were planning on stopping by the Burrow before going to Kings Cross to say good bye to everyone. Soon both Teddy and Artemis were done eating; they gathered their trunks and owls to travel over to the Burrow. Arriving Teddy and Artemis were immediately tackled by all the kids. It took a while but finally Teddy and Artemis were able to make it out of the mass of kids to where the adults were. Saying good bye to everyone took a while. The adults began to reminisce about their times in school and finally Mrs. Weasley got them to stop by pointing out that it was 10:30 and that Teddy and Artemis would need to leave soon. Giving them both a big hug she told them to behave themselves and with one last big good bye from everyone Teddy and Artemis left for Kings Cross with Andromeda and Kingsley.
Arriving at the station they both found trolleys and made their way to the barrier between platforms 9 and 10. Teddy ran through the barrier first followed shortly by Artemis, Andromeda and Kingsley simply chose to walk through. Once everyone was through they said their good byes, both Teddy and Artemis promised to write and they boarded the train to find a compartment, shortly joined by Alex and Julia. As the train pulled out of the station they waved out the window to Andromeda and Kingsley, they were finally on their way to Hogwarts!
Once the train left the station the group sat back down in their compartment. Alex and Teddy began discussing Quidditch teams while Julia and Artemis talked about the runes book they had both read. The next thing they knew there was a knock at their compartment door.
"Come in." called Alex
The door slid open to reveal a boy looking slightly nervous. He glanced around the compartment before talking.
"Hi, can I join you. I'm a first year and no one else has room as far as I know."
"Of course! We still have some room here, we're first years too. I'm Artemis and this is my twin Teddy and our friends Alex and Julia." said Artemis
"I'm Erik Roberts." said Erik as he entered the compartment and shut the door behind him.
"So where are you from?" asked Julia as Erik sat down
"I live in London with my parents, they're not wizards though." answered Erik
"Cool, I've always wondered what living in a big city would be like, I grew up with Alex and Artemis in a wizard village in Scotland called Rowena's Glen." said Julia
"So, you're muggle-born?" said Teddy
"I guess so, At least that is how Professor Longbottom explained it." replied Erik
"That's cool! One of my godfather's best friends in muggle-born and she's really nice." said Teddy
Erik smiled as his nervousness seemed to vanish. Very soon Teddy and Alex were telling him all about Quidditch and Erik was telling them what muggle London is like. The trolley came around and they bought some of everything resulting in a large pile of sweets on the floor of their compartment. As they ate through their pile of sweets, the topic of their conversation turned towards Hogwarts.
"What house do you guys think you'll be in?" asked Julia
"Houses?" asked Erik
"O, yeah I forgot you wouldn't know. There are 4 houses at Hogwarts: Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, Gryffindor, and Slytherin. Each one has different things they look for in students, Hufflepuff is known for taking hard workers, Ravenclaw is known for having the cleverest students, Gryffindors are known for their bravery and Slytherins are known for their cunning and ambition." Explained Julia
"I think I'll either be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor." said Artemis
"I think I'd be in Hufflepuff, I don't really have those other characteristics." said Erik
"Maybe not, you never really know. I think I'd be put Ravenclaw although my mom thinks I'd make a good Slytherin." said Alex
"Gran thinks I'll be in Hufflepuff like mom but Harry think's I'll be in Gryffindor like dad, I'm kind of hoping I'll be in Gryffindor." said Teddy
"I'm thinking I'll either be in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw," said Julia
"Well we could all easily represent each house, that would be kind of cool." said Artemis
"Yeah it would, but we'll all still be friends." said Teddy
"Definitely!" said Alex, Julia, Erik and Artemis
Within the next few hours it started to get dark outside and they all changed into their robes in preparation of arriving at Hogwarts. Soon the train began to slow and a voice told them to leave their luggage on the train. They disembarked and stood on the platform for a few minutes before they heard a booming voice.
"Firs' Years over here! Firs' Years over here!" a voice shouted
As they made their way over to the voice they saw the largest man they'd ever seen standing before them with a lantern.
"I think that's Hagrid, Harry told me about him, he's the Care of Magical Creatures Professor." whispered Teddy to the others
The other first years gathered around and when everyone was there Hagrid lead them down a different path then the rest of the students. Soon they reached the bank of a lake which revealed a group of boats tethered to the docks.
"Four to a boat." said Hagrid as he got into a boat near the front
The five friends decided to split up and Teddy and Artemis got in one boat while Alex, Julia and Erik got in the other. Once everyone was in a boat, Hagrid gave the command and they moved forward. The boats headed out across the lake, traveling smoothly across the black water. A few moments later Hogwarts came into sight. It was stunning, all the first years were memorized by the sight of the castle, its windows glowing, coming out of the darkness. The boats stopped at the lakes edge and the students climbed out of the boats. Teddy, Artemis, Erik, Alex, and Julia got back together and walked up to the castle with everyone else. When they made it to the main doors they were greeted by a professor.
"The first years, Professor Longbottom." said Hagrid
"Thanks Hagrid." replied Professor Longbottom
Hagrid headed into the castle and Professor Longbottom turned back to the first years.
"If you'll follow me inside." said Professor Longbottom
He headed inside and was followed by the first years. He led them to a large door before turning back around to face them.
"I'll be right back, when I get back you'll be sorted into one of the four houses: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Slytherin. These houses will be your home for the next 7 years so prepare yourself." said Professor Longbottom before turning to leave
Leaving the students to themselves they looked around the hall. Artemis noticed that there didn't appear to be many students, may be since eleven years ago there was a war going on. Teddy noticed something completely different although still relevant. Off to the some side of the hall was a large marble plaque on the wall. Teddy walked up to it which drew the attention of Artemis and the others who also walked over. At the top of the plaque were the words "Their bodies may be gone but their memories and dreams will forever live on" underneath these words were lists of names. Not understanding what he was looking at, Teddy started to read the names but didn't get too far before Artemis grabbed his shoulder and pointed to a pair of names in the second column: Remus Lupin 1960-1998, Nymphadora Tonks Lupin 1973-1998. Staring at their parents' names Artemis and Teddy realized that this was a war memorial for the First and Second Wizard War. Before anyone could say anything Professor Longbottom walked back in.
"Alright everyone, it's time to be sorted I will call your names alphabetically. Please form two lines and follow me." said Professor Longbottom
The first years lined up and the doors to the Great Hall opened up as they walked in. They starred in awe up at the ceiling and all the candles hanging in the air. The other students watched them as the first years made their way to the front of the Great Hall. Reaching the front the first years stopped while Professor Longbottom stood up next to a stool with an old hat sitting upon it. The brim of the hat opened and the hat began to sing.
A thousand years or more ago,
When I was newly sewn,
There lived four wizards of renown,
Whose names are still well known:
Bold Gryffindor, from wild moor,
Fair Ravenclaw, from glen,
Sweet Hufflepuff, from valley broad,
Shrewd Slytherin, from fen.
They shared a wish, a hope, a dream,
They hatched a daring plan
To educate young sorcerers
Thus Hogwarts School began.
Now each of these four founders
Formed their own house, for each
Did value different virtues
In the ones they had to teach.
By Gryffindor, the bravest were
Prized far beyond the rest;
For Ravenclaw, the cleverest

For Hufflepuff, hard workers were
Most worthy of admission;
And power-hungry Slytherin
Loved those of great ambition.
While still alive they did divide
Their favourites from the throng,
Yet how to pick the worthy ones
When they were dead and gone?

He whipped me off his head
The founders put some brains in me
So I could choose instead!

I've never yet been wrong,
I'll have a look inside your mind
And tell where you belong!
As the hat's song ended the hall burst into applauses. As the applauses died down Professor Longbottom unrolled his scroll and began calling names.
"Black, Artemis"
Artemis slowly walked up to the stool and sat down as Professor Longbottom placed the hat on her head.
Ahhh an interesting mind
Artemis jumped a little bit not expecting to hear a voice in her head
"Uh hello"
Let's see the daughter of Remus and Nymphadora but raised by Kingsley. You seem to have gotten more of your father's brains then he had. But you also have both of your parents' courage. Ahhh and what is this? The ancient Black magic runs through your veins, I haven't seen a witch or wizard with this kind of magic in many centuries.
"So where exactly are you going to sort me, you haven't seemed to pick anything yet."
Well then aren't you impatient, you'll do good in this house, it will help you figure out what you want to know.
Before Artemis could ask exactly the hat was talking about the brim of the hat opened wide and the hat shouted…
