CHAPTER TEN
I DON'T OWN FAIRY TAIL.
Lily pulled Gajeel off the train when we got home. It didn't take long before we were heading to the guild rather to the house. Gajeel was on a mission. I imagined he was going to point out that we were now in a relationship but he went straight to the master.
I took all the books to the library. That is where the master found me. "So child?"
"It is going to take me a month just to catalog them. That is if I don't find one that I want to read." I watched the master nod.
"That is not what I was talking about. Gajeel asked my permission for him to date you. He claims that he loves you. How do you feel?"
"That he has done so much for this guild. Gajeel deserves some love too. I am willing to give that to him."
"So the nightmares have stopped?"
"They are not real nightmares. Jet and Droy make it bigger than it is. That night was scary sure but not for me. He almost killed the boys but I protected them. I was the one that protected them. It took all night but Gajeel finished me by kissing me. He apologized for everything to me the rest of the night. He didn't leave us until dawn." I had not told anyone that before. "That was why I needed you to bring him in. He needed to be healed."
"You think you can."
"I think I have. Did you know that he built me a library in his house. He did something for someone else. I know that he has been paying for the upkeep on the guild." The master's eyes widen. "I hear things."
"I didn't know that. I knew the bills no longer pile up." The Master appeared a little annoyed and relieved.
"Mira takes the money. It was his idea. Mira tried to fight him on that. He works so hard to be accepted. I love him for that. I love him for so many reasons. He is my hero." Master hugged me.
"I will give my blessing. If he makes you cry I will squish him." I smiled. "Levy, Gajeel loves you a great deal. That is why I accepted him helping you. If it turns out that he just wants to 'make you big'-"
"I will not regret loving him. He was lost and I found him." Gajeel was at the door. "True he took the low road into my life but he is my only light."
"I am not going to wake up someday realize I was wrong. She is what I want. What I have always wanted most in this world."
"Fine I approve. Just let me know before you run off to get married. I want to give away my daughter." Master winked at me. I have seen him in a tux. During the games. He refused to look at me the whole time. Bad luck to see the bride in her dress? I could believe he was that soft.
"It will be up to Levy. She will guide me forever." Gajeel said walking up to us. "I would wed her tomorrow if she would allow it." Marry tomorrow? I blushed. In the dragon world we were already were. Seemed fair that his human half would want the same. Or did he think that is what I wanted?
"Give me six months. I have all these to deal with." I motioned the bags I didn't really know the depths of. "There is the move. Then on top of it we have to break it to Jet and Droy." Both men groaned. "They are like my brothers. It is not fair if I don't tell them."
"Just another reason I love her." Gajeel bent to kiss me. "Let's take a break for lunch. They already miss you." I laughed at how that would have played out. "They won't come up here."
"Up here?" I looked around. The worst part was that I hadn't even noticed that I was in S-Class Library. "Shit."
"I don't know how you got the password for this library but I will over look it." I shot to my feet bowing to the master. "After all you succeeded in your mission. Congratulations." The master walked out of the room.
"Does that mean what I think it means?" Gajeel asked. Tears came to my eyes. Gajeel frowned.
"We are S-Class!"
"Make sure that you tell Pantherlily as well. I believe that his wife would like to hear that." Gajeel lifted me off the ground spinning me. We laughed.
"I want you to get a new dress. Make it fancy and sexy. I am taking you and the boys out to supper to celebrate."
"Are you going to wear you white suit?" He gave me a smile that made me blush. "I love that suit."
"I do too." Putting my arms around his neck I relaxed against him.
"I just want know what I am competing with." He smiled.
"You will always be sexy to me Shrimp." I smiled. "Come on. We have to tell your boys about supper." We went down hand in hand.
Warren hid a smile as we walked straight towards the boys. Jet was the first to notice our hands. Droy saw our smiles. "Levy?"
"We are going to St. Peter's tonight. We have news. Please wear a suit, okay?"
"Are you serious?" Jet shot up. "He tried to kill us!" I reached for him but he pulled away from me. "We have been here since we were children."
"Jet, Gajeel was forced to by Phantom Lord. You were not awake when he stayed with us the rest of the night. As for our relationship, I love who the heart loves. I am sorry that it wasn't you like you wanted. I have always loved you like a brother. I probably always will."
"You have nightmares of that night." Jet shouted back. "Because he hurt you, you toss and turn, moaning."
"That is me dreaming about having sex with Gajeel." I covered my mouth when I realized what I said. Gajeel blushed turning away. "I knew that night that Gajeel wouldn't hurt me." The boys stopped talking. Gajeel sat down. "Jet, I love you just not in the way you want."
"I was not ready for this." He walked away. Droy stayed there eating.
"If this the end of Shadow Gear?" I sat down before I could fall. Droy pushed his food away looking to me. "I enjoy going on missions with you and Gajeel."
"I didn't want it to end. I was just going to add members." I said as the tears started.
"I will be there tonight if you still want to go. I will try to talk to Jet." Droy left then. I turned towards Gajeel. He just pulled me into his chest.
When I got home I pulled out one of my older fancy dresses. Gajeel met me at the door. He wore his white suit. "You know we can give it a few days."
"No. We can't stop our lives because someone doesn't like that we are a couple. " I said forcing a smile.
"Damn right. We would be waiting forever." I laughed. That was probably true. "You can't persuade the heart to love what the popular vote is." I simply nodded. I frowned when I heard horses.
"Gajeel?" He blushed. Behind him was parked a black carriage pulled by four glossy black mares. "Why?"
"Because I can." All I could do was hug him. "Wendy was back today for a report and I got her to cast that spell that helps Natsu."
"Good. I don't want you to be sick all night." He gihi-ed. I love that sound.
"Well your carriage awaits you." He took my arm. We drove past the cherry trees which were in full bloom. Along the river. To St. Peter's all you can eatery. This was the restaurant that Shadow Gear always claimed we would go to if we made S-Class. As kids this was the fanciest place we could think of. As grown ups we did it for nostalgic reasons.
Standing in line Droy seemed to be waiting for us. This place was always busy and tonight was was no different. Tonight was all you could eat rib night. As I said we were kids. Gajeel placed his hands an my waist helping me out as I saw Jet come out of the restaurant.
"He came."
"I know." Gajeel's face hid something I would have to ask later about. "Come on. Roman is not going to hold our table forever." He wrapped my arm around his. People stared as we walked right up to the boys. "Gentlemen we have a table reserved." The three of us made a face. There was no way Roman would reserve a table on rib night.
However up to the front we went. Gajeel gave his last name and the waitress paled. "Mr. Redfox I didn't recognize you. Is this Shadow Gear?"
"Yes it is Liliana. Is Lily and Company here?" She nodded. "Please show us the way." The overly tall, buxom, brunette guided us to the back, farthest back room. The double glass doors opened to everyone cheering. The mission for the king was still going.
"Levy-chan!" I hugged my best-friend.
"What are you doing here?" I asked. Natsu stood next to her shaking hands with Gajeel.
"The king is home again. We leave day after tomorrow." I wanted to cry.
"Not yet Short Stuff." Gajeel said. Master stood on his chair and the room went silent.
"Tonight we celebrate four new S-Class wizards of our guild. Levy McGarden, Gajeel Redfox, Pantherlily and Moonbeam." The cheer went up as I turned to my boys. Droy elbowed Jet. Jet passed me a long box. My hand span apart. About my forearm long.
"Congratulations Levy." They said. "I am sorry about the way I acted. If you really love him then I am happy for you." I embraced my two boys, again on the verge of tears.
"Thank you." A hand touched my back. "Freed-san?" He handed me a brown leather book. "Thank you." I read the title. It had been the one that we had stole from the library. Gajeel smiled widely. I paled.
"You put it back in the wrong spot." Freed smiled. "As soon as I am done with this mission I will help you with all the books. I think we will need a new library to hold them all."
"Damn I was hoping to wait until later to tell her." I blinked. Gajeel pulled me over to the table. He pulled out a scroll from his coat, unrolled it on the table. Everyone gathered around.
The blueprint was of the guild castle. On either side a tower that stood taller than the hall. One was marked as The Garden. The other as just The Tower. "This is my gift to you Levy. A tower fit for a princess to escape into with all her books. Gramps said he will make it an all classes library too." My hands covered my mouth. "Fine you can cry now." He caught me as I jumped into his arms.
"Thank you."
The rest of the night was a dream. It turned out Roman, the owner has been paying Gajeel to bring in supplies for a years. That was even before Gajeel met us. Roman was too happy to help out when Gajeel asked. Liliana, his daughter, seemed to be crushing on Jet. He liked the attention.
Gajeel took me back to his place. The first time I was here it was a run down shack. Now it looked like a home. He gave me the grand tour. Three bedroom house. Spacious living room. a sparing hall in the basement. On the third floor. My private library. Complete with a handful of books.
"I planned to show you the library when I filled it. Now I think it will be more fun to fill it with you."
"What if I turned you down?" He said nothing. I think it hadn't occurred to him I might.
"I would have given the house to Gramps."
"I think you should show us to our room." I hinted. He gihi-ed again.
"One more thing." Gajeel fell to his knee. "You already know we are mated by dragon law but Levy McGarden I want you to be my wife by human law too." The tiny white box held a ring with two gems. One blue, one red, set in a silver band. The same etched dragon as on my pens.
"YES!"
