Rey awoke on a rough cot on board the Millennium Falcon. The only sound she could hear was the ringing of her ears. She tried opening her eyes, but only found them blurred with sleep and a bright light.

She remembered the pain from before. Chaos. Death. Then remembered nothingness. And nothingness had been so peaceful she wondered if death had been granted to her.

She tried moving her head, but her muscles were stiff. She tried blinking a couple times to rid the blurred vision with no such luck. It wasn't until she let out a soft grunt that she saw the light shift.

"Rey?" The soothing voice of Luke Skywalker echoed beneath the ring in her ear, "Rey? Can you hear me?" Rey winced as her senses rushed back to her. She could hear the whirring of machines and the whoosh of space as they made their way through in lightspeed. Rey tried sitting up, but still felt the tightness restraining her body. "Shh...Rey, take it easy. You're safe."

"Am I?" Rey croaked as the memories of her vision stirred. She exhaled loudly. She knew Luke was lying. She could see it in his eyes even though her eyes were still very blurred.

"Rey, you are safe," Luke repeated, "He can't get you now. We left Ach'To. We are headed to-"

"Don't tell me where we're headed!" Rey interupted, raising her hoarse voice as loudly as she could, "He found me on Ach'To within weeks. He's in my head. Don't just give him our location." Luke sensed the fear in her shaky voice. In her eyes. In her soul. Fear was slowly consuming her. The seeds were already planted for her path to the Dark Side.

"Rey, don't give into your fears." Luke said calmly, "those visions, they weren't real."

"And how do you know?!" Rey shot back, "they could be the future! Something he saw. I've dreamt of him since I can remember. Since I was dropped off on Jakku and many of those dreams have come true." Rey's eyes were wide, wildly searching for something that was not there. Luke's brow furrowed.

"Could it be?" Luke pondered to himself.

"What? Could what be?" Rey asked.

"You've had visions. Dreams. You always seem to feel him in the back of your mind, correct?" Luke asked. "When you fought him on Starkiller, what did you feel?"

"What do you mean?" Rey said. She was confused by Luke's secrecy. He knew something she didn't. Most people knew more about her than she did. She only just found out she was a former student. That she had once been Kylo Ren's friend. No, not Kylo Ren. Ben Solo. She was once friends with Ben Solo and as far as she knew, Ben Solo was never coming back.

"When you fought Kylo Ren," Luke explained, "did you feel anger or rage like you'd never felt before? Did you feel like you could kill him?"

Rey opened her mouth to answer, but couldn't find her words. She scrunched her eyebrows as she thought back to that night. She had ignited her lightsaber first. She charged first. She remembered the rage. The hate. The anger. They still felt fresh to her. As if they were ready to burst from her that very second. The satisfaction she felt after she sliced his face open. How she circled him like she was circling her prey. The whispers in the back of her mind, urging her to do it. To kill him. And she wanted to kill Kylo Ren. If it weren't for that fissure, he would be dead. Yet, there was something she felt for him. Something she couldn't explain or ever remember feeling before with any other creature, human or otherwise. Whatever it was, it both frightened her and fascinated her.

She couldn't find her words to answer Luke, only mumble "yes" to his questions.

Luke raised his eyebrows. Either he realized something or he was extremely worried. Or both. He looked away, deep in thought. He put his hand to his lips as he whispered something unintelligible to Rey.

Rey pushed through the stiffness to raise his head. "What is it?" She asked. Again, she felt there was more she was not being told. Luke's face contorted as he struggled with the information withheld from Rey for who knows long. Finally, he summoned the courage to tell her.

"Force bond," Luke said quickly, "you and Kylo Ren. You and Ben Solo. I am unsure which side of him it is. You are connected to him through the Force."

"But...why...wha...how do you know?" Rey asked, panic rising. She didn't know what a Force bond was, but it didn't seem like something she would want with Kylo Ren.

"It all makes sense now." Luke walked away from Rey and looked out the cockpit at the warping of space as they made their way at lightspeed. Rey sat up. The frustration was building with Luke's secrecy.

"Luke, please tell me what this all means," she said sternly. Luke turned back to her, his eyes full of sorrow. He didn't want to tell her. Of course, another secret.

"I don't even know what it means," Luke said gently, "Force bonds are a bit of a mystery. Since your birth, you have been bonded through the Force with Ben Solo. I remember the day, actually. Ben was eleven. I was training him in Lightsaber skills. He was advanced for his age, so I always placed him with my older students. He was sparring and doing quite well when he collapsed." Luke's eyes were distant as he fell into the seat across from Rey's cot. "He felt something in the Force. He had trouble explaining it and when I focused in on his mind, I couldn't see anything other than some kind of disturbance. Then the dreams started."

"Dreams?" Rey repeated.

"He saw you. Every night was different. At first, I thought he was just seeing a past friend from before he came into my training, but then he began shutting me out of his dreams," Luke said. "I never understood why until now. He was seeing his future with you. It was about the time you came he started having nightmares. He blocked me from those as well. I believe it was his future as Kylo Ren." Rey shifted on the cot uncomfortably, trying to decide what to ask next.

"Did I have the dreams when I came to the academy, too?" She knew she had them when she was left on Jakku, but she never saw any faces. Luke hesitated for a moment before nodding.

"The day you were brought to me was the day you first met Ben. You two spoke as if you had been friends for years. And you were inseperable since, but I never suspected Force-bond. It more commonly happens between Jedi Masters and their Padawans, but there were a few occurrences between others with different relationships," Luke paused for a moment, trying to remember what exactly he had learned about Force Bonds in the archives. "You were destined to be together."

Rey stiffened her posture. "Whaaa...what?! Oh, n-n-n-no! I am not going to be with that...with that..monster! I hate him!" Rey's heart was pounding in her chest and her breathing heavy. This can't be happening. How could she be bonded to the creature in the mask?

"I'm afraid you do not have a choice. Your relationship with Kylo Ren will not change that you are Force-Bonded. There is something you two are destined to become. What that is, I do not know. I do know that it will continue to grow. To change."

Rey thought about the information Luke gave her. Bonded since birth. But why? Destiny. What was her destiny and how did it involve Kylo Ren? As she dug deeper and deeper into the mysteries of the Force and how it affected her, the more and more she wished she were a scavenger back ok Jakku with no recollection of her past. Luke had turned away to sit in the cockpit, but he was stopped.

"How do you break the Force Bond?" Rey said quickly. Luke did not face her. He froze, looking out at the swirling stars. It was something he dreaded answering. Rey had Darkness in her. There was no telling how she would use this information.

"One of you must die," He said calmly. "Even then, the Force Bond doesn't fully break and, if your bond is twinned, his death could be lethal to you, and likewise to him if you were to die, but this is especially rare. Most likely, twinning won't be the case. Even with so much hate towards him, would feel an emptiness. Even with hate, your heart will break if he were to die. And I'm afraid Darkness would consume you. You'd be vulnerable and powerful, but you would always suffer, as would he if it were you that died." Rey could feel the tears begin to fall. No matter what, she would always feel like she is suffering because of Kylo Ren's existence.

"So, I have to live with this?!" Rey cried.

"I'm sorry, Rey. These things are chosen by the Force. I don't know what will become of it. Only you can choose to continue towards your destiny. But remember, there will be consequences if you avoid or try to change your destiny." Luke warned.

Rey felt helpless. She couldn't fathom what her future would bring. How could she be connected to such a monster? She never wanted any part of this. She never asked for this. But, here she was, on board the Millennium Falcon, destination unknown, being chased and terrorized by this creature who seems bent on destroying her. Did he know about the bond? Does he know what would happen if he killed her? The power he would possess, but also the suffering? Does he know that killing her could kill him as well, though rare?

Luke and Rey didn't speak on the matter anymore. They didn't speak at all. Luke kept to himself the rest of the trip. He looked worried. Rey laid back down as her head still hurt from Kylo Ren's infiltration. She closed her eyes and searched her mind for him. Where are you? She could feel a tiny hold on her mind, but felt closed off from it. In a way, she wanted to remain closed off. In a way, she wanted to let it in. But how much would he know if she opened the connection?

Chewbacca joined them in the cockpit, growling his greetings as he sat down in the pilot chair. He and Luke pressed some buttons and with a jolt, space stilled and they were in front of a planet, or rather a moon, dense with trees and vegetation. Rey stood from her cot and entered the cockpit. She watched as they decended into the atmosphere, eyes wide with wonder. The greenery of other planets always amazed her and every time looked upon a planet's vegetation, she wished she could spend a day lying in it. She wondered what that would feel like, to be surrounded by so much life. She imagined it would be peaceful. Maybe if Luke gave her some time to herself, she would spend a few hours taking it all in.

The ship set down in all clearing. Rey immediately noted that there weren't any buildings other than an old, rusted bunker. "Are there all by people here?" She asked, looking out the cockpit.

"No, just animals. There was once a primitive civilization of Ewoks. The First Order slaughtered them some time ago. They caused quite a ruckus with the old Empire and helped aid in the destruction of the second Death Star." Luke chuckled a bit as if reacting to a distant memory. "That bunker there housed the shield generators for the Death Star. We can stay there as shelter. It may be uncomfortable, but it will do. For now, we need to continue your training and fast."

"What are we going to start with?" Rey asked, eager to continue her training.

"Our priorities are going to be protection from Kylo Ren." Luke said. He turned to Rey and smiled, "do you want to start with learning to block Kylo Ren from your mind or lightsaber skills for today?" Rey smiled. She wanted to learn the Force, but didn't know what to start with or what would be most important.

"How about both?" Rey said. Luke cocked an eyebrow at her.

"You're going to exhaust yourself," He warned. Rey shrugged her shoulders.

"Then I should sleep well tonight. I've been desperate to sleep for a long time."
