I do not own TMI. If I owned TMI I would take all my money and throw it like confetti.

As always, thanks to Mrs. Jace Wayland-Herondale for beta-ing! She really helped a lot this chapter you guys don't even know omg :p

Izzy answered immediately. "Finally! How hard is it for you to push a couple of buttons?" she greeted in an annoyed tone.

"I was trying to sleep," Alec lied. "Can't this wait?"

"No it can't! I wanted to tell you in person but since you skipped away to America for some unknown reason, I have to tell you over the phone!"

"Just tell me," Alec groaned.

"Simon proposed!" Izzy squealed. Clary gasped. She couldn't help it.

"What was that noise?" Izzy asked.

"Me," Alec lied.

"That didn't sound like you," Izzy confronted. "It sounded...feminine. Where the hell are you?"

"I told you, it's a secret," Alec rolled his eyes.

"I can just track you," Izzy retorted.

"Well don't," Alec begged.

"Hm." A murmur was heard and then Izzy stated, "I'm just talking to Alec." She paused. "Yes at 3 in the morning. Why are you here again?" She paused again. "Is that another bottle? Give me that, you've had enough tonight." A rustling was heard and then a loud male sounding groan. It was strangely familiar.

"What was that about?" Alec frowned.

Isabelle sighed. "Oh it's just Jace being Jace. You know what day it is." Clary winced and Alec looked up, shooting her a concerned look.

"Yes, I know. Don't let him drink too much like last time."

By the angel. I did this to him. I'm the reason he's drinking.

"I'm trying," Isabelle sighed again. "But I am so tired. We had to take care of some rebellious werewolves, as you know, and I'm exhausted."

"Maybe you could knock Jace out and drag him home," Alec said sarcastically.

"That's actually not that bad an idea," Isabelle muttered, sounding far away.

"Izzy, don't actually do that!"

Silence.

"Izzy, don't," Alec groaned.

The dial tone played in response.

"She's going to knock him out," Alec sighed, shaking his head.

Clary laughed. "None of you seemed to have changed at all." She paused. "Does Jace drink- a lot?"

Alec shook his head. "Not in excess, if that's what you thought. He drinks a lot more than he used to but it's not too bad. It's not at a worrisome rate yet."

"How are my parents and Lavvy?" Clary asked abruptly, for the question had been haunting her for quite some time.

"They're fine. They've been doing pretty well running the Institute."

Clary slowly nodded. "And Lavvy?"

"She's a very energetic 4 year old," he said with a chuckle.

Clary felt herself smile. She had missed Lavvy so much that her stomach hurt whenever she thought of her. And her mom and Luke- Clary wondered if they thought of her often.

"You need to come back," Alec softly said.

Clary shook her head and looked down at the old wooden table in front of her, thinking. But, Clary knows she can't go back. Asmodeous and Lilith would know in an instant.

"There's no need to be afraid."

"Of course there is!" Clary exploded. "Everyone I love could die! Including my daughter, who isn't even one yet!"

"But isn't it worth the risk, to see your family again?"

"No!" What's the point of seeing them if they'll just be killed?

Alec put his face in his hands. "It's been over a year and half. Surely, Lilith and Asmodeus would've found something more interesting to concentrate on than you!"

Clary stared at him. "I just don't think I can take that risk, Alec."

What if Asmodeous and Lilith do find out? They made it clear that they can hurt my family. And I can't allow that. But, what if I could find a way around it...

"You're just gonna keep pushing until I give in, aren't you?" Clary said.

Alec nodded. Clary lowered her head onto the table and groaned. He had a point, she supposed. And she couldn't hide Azalea forever. She always had dreaded the discussion on why all the other girls have daddies, except her.

"Fine," she sighed. Alec looked up, surprised.

"You'll come?" he asked skeptically.

"Yes. One condition."

"Anything," Alec stated in a quietly happy voice. He knew how much would change when she came back. Jace would be so, so happy, and so would her parents and Lavender.

Azalea could grow up with her family.

"We need to find a way around the, uh, problem," Clary said, not sure if Asmodeous and Lilith have a watch on her house or not.

"Well," Alec drawled. "You could put your 'artwork' back into commission." He smiled mischievously at Clary.

"If you have the supplies I could do something." Alec sat back and pulled a stele out of his belt with a wide secretive smile and rolled it across the table.

Clary sighed with a small smile. "This'll do. But how are we even supposed to even get back to Idris? Where will I go? I can't just show up at the manor and go, Hi honey, I'm back and this is your 11 month old kid. Please let us in. It just doesn't work that way."

"You'll stay with Magnus and I. We already worked that out. He's creating a nursery for the baby and everything, so good luck with that," Alec warned. "And I'd imagine we would portal over."

"Is portaling even safe for babies?" Clary worried. If anything happened to Azalea, anything at all...

"It's perfectly safe. I was about Azalea's age when my parents and I were sent to New York, and we used a portal for that. I was fine."

Clary slowly nodded. "I have to stay for a couple more days. I have to quit my job, and sell my car. And put the house up for sale, which will take a long time. Of course, I guess I could just leave the house without telling anyone, but that's not exactly considerate."

Alec huffed. "Why do mundanes make leaving so complicated?"

Clary shrugged. She had never really thought of it that way.

Alec thought for a moment. "I don't want to inconvenience any mundane. I really don't. But I think you should just walk away from the house. Jace needs you. You're family needs you more than the mundanes do."

Clary sighed. "I guess you're right."
