I'm so sorry for not updating sooner! Let's just say that I despise my laptop and our internet service. I'm sorry if this is really crappy...
Soul hadn't been acting right the past few days. Ever since Maka was kidnapped last week, he's been even more asymmetrical than usual. Heck, he doesn't even talk anymore! He only goes to the music room during classes. No one knows what he does in there. l Black Star tried to figure out what he was doing but every time Black Star gets within hearing distance of the room, Soul walks past him and leaves for the rest of the day. Some days, I can feel his soul where Maka was captured. He spends most of his free time down there too. Today though, He's sitting with the rest of us on the stairs in front of the academy. We watched the desert in the far distance in hope of seeing Maka walking back home.
"Guys!" We all looked down to the bottom of the stairs.
"Squirt!" Liz yelled in glee, well as much glee she could summon up. Farther on behind him were two other people I didn't recognize.
"Antonio! Kyoku! Jake! What are you all doing here?" Tsubaki greeted. We all stared at her in shock. She hardly talked to Black Star, let alone the rest of us, since the incident.
"So it's true... She got captured again?" The woman, I'm guessing is Kyoku, stated in complete concern. The guy, I'm guessing is Antonio, wrapped an arm around Kyoku. Kyoku ripped his arm off of her and faced the desert. "MAKAYLA MESHELLE! Just because we call you the Immortal doesn't mean you actually are! DO YOU HEAR ME?!" She yelled. Antonio and Jake face palmed at her reaction.
"Makayla Meshelle?" Black Star questioned.
"Immortal? As in the immortal dragon?" Liz gasped. We all heard more foot steps walking towards us.
"I can explain everything at Tim's. We still need to tell him everything that has happened." Someone said. We all looked down the stairs again to see the woman who came to visit Maka the last time.
"Utau-san! Are you alright?! Should you even be moving?!" Tsubaki asked worriedly as she and Kyoku ran towards her.
"Crazy lady!" Jake greeted. Utau grinned at the kid as he patted his head.
"Come on, Tim is waiting for us." She said as she turned to lead the way. Soul was surprisingly the first one to follow. Afterward was Jake and his new family, and so forth and so forth. I waited for Liz, who was the last one to go. I grabbed her hand and squeezed it in comfort. There was a soft smile on her face. I couldn't help but to smile at that. At least someone could smile at these times. I was also surprised at that Maka could effect our lives so drastically in so little time. I have to say, even though she puts us through a lot of worry, she had made our lives so much more fun and I can't wait to make our lives so much more fun again.
The room was dark and it smelt of sulfur. Dirt, blood, gun powder, and sulfur. It's giving me a headache. My body was sore and weary. I looked around the room. Steel walls with no windows and a steel door on the other side of the room. The only furniture was a chair that was facing towards me. From the lack of windows and the smell of dirt, I'm guessing that I was underground somewhere. That still left me with nothing. It was something but not enough to actually help me out.
Shelves and shelves of things you would normally find in a house were all over the place, kind of like a coupon hoarder, type of thing. I looked to my situation, it was in good terms. I was tied with a rope like a caterpillar in the middle of the floor. I couldn't do anything at the moment since the chloroform did a number to me. This told me one thing, the people that kidnapped me had no idea about my capabilities. I was not captured by Medusa. A squeak echoed in the room. I looked up to the source to see the wooden door opening.
"Look how pathetic you are~." I looked up high enough to see the black curly haired demon.
'Stupid Dragon Lady.' I silently cursed in my mind. 'For a normal human, she really does annoy me to no end.'
"I guess you were good for something after all." She teased. I raised my brow at her. I didn't understand what she meant. All I know is that I'm getting a very bad cramp in my neck. She faked a gasp. "You actually didn't know the price you had on your head~?!" She commented in fake shock. I blinked at her a couple of times.
"What are you talking about?" I asked in all seriousness. She smirked and held a paper towards me face. It was a wanted poster for the underworld. It held my name and a picture. My eyes widen. "A Million dollars?!" Dragon lady busted out laughing.
"You actually had NO idea~!" She commented between laughs. Does that mean that they figured out who I really was? Did they figure out I had a grigori soul? "I got ten Million off of you. I can actually sell this piece of crap and move away like I've always dreamed." She cooed to herself. Like I care. All I know is that she's going to die soon. If the price an my head was a mil and she got ten mil, she was either ripped off or she was going to die. "And you can suffer like my boys did, you filth!" She spat. "I'm done saying my goodbyes~! You can take her~!" She yelled to someone out the door. I turned my attention to the door. A man in his forties walked in. His hair was filthy and his skin was super pale. His clothes looked like they came from a different century but then again, I'm terrible with fashion. When his soulless eyes looked at me, I immediately knew who it was.
"Rudra..." I shot a small soul Wavelength to the desert. Tsuki-chan never hesitated to answer.
'Tell Soul and the others that it's Rudra!' I told her as I was kicked in the spine. I flew across the room as some of the shelves were destroyed.
"I'm going to have fun torturing you until your grigori soul is finally mine~!" He stated sadistically. I would honestly love to see him and Stein fight. That would seriously be the fight of the century. Sadly enough, I know it wasn't going to happen. I don't have that kind of luck.
"Hope you enjoy hell, Maka Albarn~!" Dragon Lady said as Rudra poured more chloroform unto the rag. Oh great...
That explains how I got here... Sort of. Since there is no way I can figure out when he's returning, I had tiny scythe blades coming out of my wrists and started picking at the locks of the chains that hung me to the wall. The door started opening. I put away my blades. Rudra walked in with a sadistic look on his face.
"Let the torturing begin~!" He said as he walked towards me. This is going to be long capture. Sigh...
Utau lead us all to Tim's Ice cream shop. I haven't set foot in there since Maka was captured. I've been acting out of character but if I opened my mouth, I just don't know if I could keep it all together. That would be so not cool. I have to keep my cool together since Maka always thought I was cool. I have to keep it together. The bell rung as Utau opened the door.
"Soul, Utau... and others. Something terrible happened to that girl again, didn't it." Tim stated with complete concern in his eyes. I nodded my head once at him. The atmosphere in the shop tensed up. "What happened this time?" He asked.
"I'll tell you everything that I know then Tsubaki." Utau stated as she sat down at one of the large round tables. Tim went to the back for a minute as everyone got their seats. he came back with a large tray of drinks, Utau and Antonio got coffee Jake and Kyoku got hot chocolate, and the rest of us got tea. We all thanked him and waited for him to take a seat. "I was out gathering fabric because I had some ideas that I thought Maka could use for party outfits. I went to an old friend of mine, she owns a fabric store and we usually share thoughts and ideas. I made a turn down an alley I've always used as a short cut to get there. Two young men stood there. One had red hair and the other black. I could even tell that neither one of them came from here. I could also tell that they were twins. 'Are you ready to have some fun, Agamemnon?' The one with black hair asked. 'Always Menelaus~!' The red head replied with a twist tone. Next thing I knew, they were charging at me. I fought back the best that I could... I failed... The next thing I knew was Soul and the others trying to save me and Tsubaki, my house was destroyed and there was a dead man in my house... Menelaus was lying dead in my house and Maka was gone again..." Utau told while her voice was trembling and tears were rolling down her face. My hands clenched at the sight. We all waited till she calmed down before looking towards Tsubaki. Tsubaki looked down at the table, tears were falling from her face as well.
"We were heading to Utau-san's house after we dropped Jake off. We haven't learned of what happened yet... I asked her some questions... Some personal questions..." Tsubaki's voice was already cracking. Her eyes were clouded over as if she was reliving the event. "She told me 'You have no idea how many sins I carry. No idea how many scars. No ideas how many walls, I've built over the years.' She looked so broken." The tears were rolling from her face even faster now. "I felt as if I have no idea who she really is!" She squeaked. "I watched as she practically broke down then she turned to me and smiled at me! She teased me as if nothing happened!" Tsubaki was shaking so bad that I was sure that the people on the street would notice. Black Star gripped her shoulder in comfort. She leaned into his touch. She took a deep breath. "That's when she felt their souls. She refused to tell me who it was. We raced over to Utau-san's... When we got there; Utau-san was covered in blood. I went to administer first aid as Maka searched the house. She shouted for me to take Utau-san and run." Tears were following from her eyes as if it was like a never ending river. My throat was dry and my hands were gripping my pants in anger. Tsubaki brought her hands up to her face as if to hide the tears. The tears just slipped through her fingers. "She sounded so scared... Before I knew it, I blacked out. I was so useless. I was just so useless! If I was stronger I could've helped! I could've saved her!" Tsubaki screamed in frustration. She was breaking down and everyone knew it. Everyone had their eyes casted downward. I just glared at the table. I shouldn't have left her! I felt a hand on my shoulder. I looked up to see Tim looking at me with understanding.
"Agamemnon and Menelaus... The Soul thieves." Antonio said. Patti gasped as Liz looked up in horror.
"That can't be right! They're vampyres, not Trolls!" Liz yelled in denial.
"Mommy, what does she mean?" Jake asked Kyoku.
"In the underworld we give off code words to warn each other of the possible dangers." Kyoku told. Jake along with most of us tilted our heads.
"Vampyres are out looking for blood, like serial killers. Trolls are kidnappers. " Utau informed. "Maka was what we like to call the librarian. She can figure out every secret about anyone in the underworld even if she's never met them, kind of like an underworld profiler. If my son was still alive, he would be a creater. He could build anything in the world and more."
"Why would vampyres kidnap someone?" Black Star asked. A dark expression overcame the six of them.
"To torture them before killing them off." Tim stated. I bit the side of my cheek to keep from lashing out on them. Maka was strong. Maka will survive.
"Maybe Maka figured something about them." Patti commented with hope.
"It's very likely." Utau replied.
"Why do you call her the immortal?" Kidd asked in his business like facade.
"It's not the first time Maka has been kidnapped. The first time was when she was four." Tim informed. The gang and I looked at him in shock. "Her and Tsuki actually. No one knows what happened when they disappeared for those three days. All we know is before hand, they were extremely happy kids... When they came back, they were guarded. They didn't trust anyone but themselves and the boys; Raiyu, Dezato, and Kaji. Those boys protected the girls as much as they could. We always thought that the girls told them what happened that time but we have no proof. None of them were willing to give us any information."
"Between then and the year disappearance, they were kidnapped at least four more times that we actually know of." Kyoku stated.
"It was actually six." Tim informed. Everyone looked at him in shock. "What? Maka is very serious about her ice cream and she always tells me before she goes off for a mission. I can always tell when she is captured." Utau and Kyoku face palmed as Jake and Antonio chuckled. I couldn't help but to smirk.
"Anyways as I was saying... Even without the kidnappings, those kids were scary. Those five defeat a gang within their twenties or thirties at the of five to three." The gang, beside Kidd and me, jaws dropped. "That was actually how they met. After that, they defeated every opponent that came their way. Unless it was Tsuki and Maka. They kicked every opponents butt along with everyone who and anyone who even looked at them wrong. Those kids went through hell and back and overcame it like it was a game. With what they went through, we ended up calling them the immortals as a joke but... over time we ended up thinking it was true until... Only Maka returned from their last capture. That's when we finally realized they were human too." Kyoku told.
"Tsuki was Kyoku's best friend. Maka was too shy to talk to anyone that wasn't those four. We were shocked that she even talked to Tim." Antonio told.
"And I was looking forward to Tsuki's and Kaji's wedding~..." A stream of disappointed tears rolled down her face. Utau giggled as Antonio rolled his eyes.
"I'll be happy as long as Maka wears the dress I made her on her wedding day." Utau stated. Tim sweat dropped at that.
"You know she's going to kill you once she finds out you already made her one, right?" Tim hesitantly asked. Utau pouted at him.
"Now your just ruining my fun." She pouted as she looked the other way.
"What about Makayla Meshelle?" Kidd asked. This time the older people snickered.
"There was a old timer that always picked on Maka because of her shyness." Tim started.
"And the funny faces that she always made." Utau mumbled loud enough for everyone to hear. Tim coughed a bit to gain everyone's attention again.
"Anyways, one day he just called her Makayla Meshelle in front of the entire Death City underworld. She wore an expression on her face as if death had already consumed her soul. Everyone laughed at her expression. That really angered the other four but before they could do anything, Maka kicked his butt in front of everyone." Tim told. The gang and I grinned in pride at that.
"Who was the old timer?" Jake asked. Tim shrugged.
"Everyone called him Sargent. His name was lost over time. I do remember that he was the strongest dragon in Death City at the time. Until those brats' reputation went past city limits." Tim growled in annoyance. Everyone else was grinning at her accomplishments. Tim sighed. "So whenever she got in trouble, we would use Makayla Meshelle instead of Maka Albarn. She hates her last name more so than Makayla Meshelle anyways." Tim shrugged it off as if he was talking to himself. I propped my head in my left hand as I played with the near by napkin. Memories of the incident that the last name as caused popped in my head. I want to create more moments like that...
"Soul, is everything alright?"Star asked. I looked up at him. Everyone was staring at me in concern. I sighed.
"Menelaus was basically shredded to pieces when I got there. Maka even told me that they used Chloroform to knock her unconscious. That don't sound like something a vampyres would do. Troll, maybe. It just doesn't seem right. Why would they even want Maka? Sure her father is a Death Scythe but he's basically broke and everyone knows that. If they wanted her because of her reputation, they they would've done something to her in public. It just doesn't fit together at all." I thought our loud. The gang looked at me in shock.
"If you're actually this smart, then how comes your grades suck?" Liz asked. I raised a brow at them.
"I think Maka is rubbing off on him." Star stated with slight confusion. I glared at them. The older people chuckled at us. "Soul! Your napkin is on fire!" Black Star yelled. I looked down to the napkin. He was right but something was off about it. I can't tell what but I was sure of it. Soon enough, it stopped burning without burning the whole napkin. I raised a brow at it. Now I'm positive that, that is not normal. I picked it up and held it open. The fire had actually written something on it. Very cool.
"Rudra." I read. The six from the underworld paled enough to rival death.
"The god of destruction..." Utau gasped.
"The man to have believed to be the destruction of the world, if not Kishins...?" Kyoku thought in confusion.
"I've heard of him. Not very much but It's said that he might rival Stein in will power alone." Kidd stated.
"What would he want with Maka?" Tsubaki asked.
"Maybe Maka knew before the capture?" Black Star suggested.
"If she had, she didn't tell me." Tim told.
"Maybe it's has to do with one of the sins she mentioned.?" Antonio suggested.
"Why can't Maka just tell us these things?" Jake asked.
"She's afraid we'll betray her if we learn the truth. There's only so much that a person can handle before they run away. Maka's afraid that if we learn the truth, it'll be too much for us. That it would make us run away." Liz stated. I heard Tim lightly gasps for air. I looked at him and raised a brow at him.
"That's stupid!" Jake and Black Star yelled.
"People have done so plenty enough times before... Everyone in Death City done so seven years ago. Maka was the only one that stood tall." Kyoku stated in obvious envy but also in shame.
"But we're a family now! Family sticks together no matter what!" Jake yelled in determination.
"The kid is right! It won't matter what happened to her or what she did! We'll stand strong by her side! I'll even give up my dream on surpassing God if we don't!" Black Star declared. The gang and I looked at him in shock. The adults smile with what seemed like they were proud with our decision. I can't believe Star said that... Too bad Maka wasn't here to hear it.
" Not meaning to spoil the mood or anything but; I'm guessing that Maka never showed you all the paper then?" Antonio asked, breaking the silence. Everyone just stared at him, silently telling him to continue. "It was an underworld wanted poster for her. She's worth a million dollars."
"WHAT?!" Everyone yelled. Antonio just nodded his head.
"I highly doubt it came from Rudra though. It's not his style... Anyways, we have to head home. I have to get to work early tomorrow and Jake has to start school." He stated as he stood up. "Either way, I'm sure Maka's fine. She's the most stubborn person in the world for a reason. Especially since she has something to fight for." Antonio told as he lead his family out. They thanked Tim for the drinks before leaving. Soon, everyone else followed suit since the night was coming already.
"Why" Stab "Won't" Stab "You" stab "Bleed?!" He screamed in frustration. He was attempting to stab me where ever he could with that knife. My black blood won't let it cut my flesh. I just watched him. There was something very familiar about him. Him and the knife. The knife was actually more familiar to me than he was. He was just so filthy that I couldn't make heads or tails of his actual skin color.
"They do call me the immortal dragon for a reason." I remarked sarcastically. He punched me in the face for the comment. He took a deep sigh and threw the knife across the room.
"Fine." He looked at me with determination. "I have other methods of torture..." He purred as he brought his hand up to my stomach. I raised a brow at him. He then pushed his soul wave length into mine.
"AAAAHHHHH!" I screamed in pain. I could barely hear him laughing at my screams... This is going to be one long capture...
I stayed behind with Tim. I needed to ask him some questions but I really didn't know where to start. Maka is a very secretive person. Would she have told him everything I wanted to know? What did she tell him? What all did she hide? There was one question that was scarring me more than anything... Was she willing to come back? I heard what they did to her. I wouldn't blame her if she didn't but... Everyone else... Black Star, Tsubaki, Patti, Kidd, Liz, and I... We're a family now, right? Did we impact her life enough for her to WANT to come back?
"What's on you mind?" Tim asked. I looked up at him. All that was in his eyes was curious. I raised a brow at him. "You don't have to be shy about talking to me because I'm Maka's father figure. I already approved of you a long time ago." He stated. I could feel the blood rushing towards my face.
"How did..." I started but I couldn't find myself to finish. He reached somewhere behind the counter and pulled out Maka's sketch book. My eyes widen. I now know why I couldn't find that thing. Tim started flipping through the pages. When he finally stopped at one, he slid it over towards me. It was a drawing of me... Dated the day Maka was captured... I had soft eyes and a soft smile. I looked like a love sick puppy. 'So not cool...' Sadly, I knew that I actually made this face. 'Really not cool...' I looked at the corner where she signed her name. Above it was a sentence...
I was too afraid to trust, too afraid for anyone to get close, now what I fear most... is losing you.
"Whenever she came in for ice cream, she'd always talked about you and the others. Honestly, I think she's kind of weary of the others. She loves you all to death but; I don't think that she thinks that they feel the same. You though, she talks about you more so than the others." Tim told. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "The first thing she told me about you was that if Death didn't annoy her to hell that she would have officially accepted you as her partner from day one. She also said that if Raiyu was still alive that he would look like you two's kid. He had the same hair color as Maka but he had your red eyes." My jaw dropped to the floor. "I've never heard her so happy as when she's talking about you, in so many years..." Tim wiped a tear from his eye before it could fall. My chest was swelling with pride. "Now... What are your questions?" He asked.
Rudra had left a few minutes ago. He had ran out of soul energy, even though he kept a straight carefree expression about it. He had left his knife at the other side of the room. I was staring right at it. It looked a lot like mine that I dropped at Utau-okaa-chan's. Tsuki-chan and Raiyu-nii made mine. The only other person that I could even think that could have a knife like it would be their dad. He went missing years ago. Everyone assumed that he died of an overdose and it was very likely. It just didn't seem right that he would turn into Rudra. That wasn't my problem right now. He made a lot of damage on my soul. If I get out of here, even if it was right now, the damage was so extent that I may not be able to fight with Soul anymore. I may not be able to wield him any more... I don't want that. I want to be with him. And the others... I just started opening up to them. If this ends up just like the other captures... I may not be able to look at anyone in the eyes anymore. Heck, I may not be strong enough to even be near them... Now I'm starting to see why my mother left. I took a deep breath. A tear fell from my left eye. I never thought I'd feel such distress again since... I clicked my tongue to the roof of my mouth. I don't know what to do. For some reason, I can't extend my soul wave length upward. I'm going to have a harder time using my soul wavelength, thanks to this douche. If I do escape... Would it be alright if I returned? Would Soul be willing to keep me as his meister? I wasn't strong enough to protect myself. I don't even know if Utau-okaa-chan or Tsubaki is alright... Just my luck that this would happen when my world was finally coming back together. I opened my mouth.
"What have I done?
I wish I could run,
Away from this ship going under.
Just trying to help
Hurt everyone else
Now I feel the weight of the world is on my shoulders.
What can you do when your good isn't good enough?
And all that you can touch tumbles down?
Cause my best intentions
Keep making a mess of things,
I just wanna fix it somehow
But how many times will it take?
Oh, how many times will it take for me to get it right,
get it right?
Can I start again, with my faith shaken?
Cause I can't go back and undo this
I just have to stay and fix my mistakes,
But if I get stronger and wiser, I'll get through this
What can you do when your good isn't good enough?
And all that you can touch tumbles down?
Cause my best intentions
Keep making a mess of things,
I just wanna fix it somehow
But how many times will it take?
Oh, how many times will it take for me to get it right,
So I throw up my fist, throw a punch in the air,
And accept the truth that sometimes life isn't fair!
Yeah, I'll send out a wish, yeah, I'll send up a prayer
And finally someone will see how much I care
What can you do when your good isn't good enough?
And all that you can touch tumbles down?
Cause my best intentions
Keep making a mess of things,
I just wanna fix it somehow
But how many times will it take?
Oh, how many times will it take, to get it right,
To get it right..."
I sang. Tears were rolling down my face. Rudra was more than likely sleeping so I didn't have to hide at the moment. I was sobbing. My walls were coming back up and I knew it. Here I thought that they were finally coming down. I knew I was better off alone...
