Chapter 10: No Flaw In the Plan
After reacquainting himself with Hermione that night Harry spent the following evening in the regular library working on his lesson plans. It was amazing to him what he could get done when he didn't have the distraction of a pretty girl sitting next to him, not that he was complaining of course. After getting most of the next month worked out he finally packed up and made his way back towards the Astronomy tower. Just as he was walking up to Dumbledore's portrait it swung open and Ginny walked out. She turned and nearly ran into him, "Oi Harry, you have good timing," she said. Harry looked at her face and noticed that she looked a bit flush but he figured that was from the shock of nearly running into him.
"I'm glad," he replied. "Did you get everything worked out?" he asked.
"I think so," she said with the hint of a grin. "I think we've got something worked out that will make everyone happy."
"Do I get to hear it?" he asked.
"I think it'd be best if I let Hermione tell you," she replied. "But it may have to wait until tomorrow, I believe she just went to bed."
"Oh alright then, goodnight," he said and leaned in to give her a soft kiss.
"Goodnight Harry," she said with a soft smile as she began to stroll down the stairs.
Harry smiled as he watched her walk away before giving Dumbledore the password and headed in. When he got up to his room he found Hermione fast asleep on his bed. He smiled, set his bag down, quickly changed and slid under the covers, wrapping his arms around her.
When he awoke the next morning she was already gone. He had forgotten she had the first years bright and early Monday mornings, no wonders she had passed out so early. Harry took his time getting ready before heading down for breakfast. He ate with Neville and Seamus before getting up to go to his first class. He ran into Hermione who was rushing in to each some breakfast and they smiled at each other and he kissed her softly. "Are you free for lunch?" he asked.
"Oh babe I wish I was but Ginny stayed so late last night I am going to have to work on my lesson plans through lunch the next few days to catch up," she replied.
"Okay, well I have quidditch in the evenings so why don't we make a date of it on Friday evening?"
"Yes that should be great," she said smiling at him and blowing him a kiss as she ran off to get breakfast.
Their first quidditch practices that week went relatively well. Harry thought Ginny's expectations that everyone have the playbook memorized already was a bit much as she got on Seamus and Demelza when they flew in the wrong formation and the yelled at Richie for playing too far off the chasers during one planned play. She even got after Harry a bit for watching too much of the action below and not paying attention to the snitch but he understood that she just wanted everything just right for her team. Most of the team hurried out of the locker room after practices was over so Harry took the occasional opportunity to pull Ginny into the showers to calm her down a bit. It was all very playful and Ginny always left smiling much more than she had left. One evening as they made their way back to the castle she asked, "So have you had a chance to talk to Hermione yet?"
"No someone kept her up too late the other night so she's been busy playing catch up," he replied. "And my bloody captain keeps making me practice my arse off every night so I haven't had a chance."
"Oh that witch," Ginny said grinning.
"Yeah so we're to have a date Friday night though so hopefully then. Or perhaps you could just tell me," he mentioned.
"This is Hermione's deal, she needs to be the one to tell you," she replied.
"Oh fine, well then go get some homework done. I hear your DADA professor may be giving you a pop quiz tomorrow," he said with a wink.
"Man that guy is such a pain in the arse," Ginny said giggling as she headed up the stairs toward the Gryffindor common room.
When Harry got back to his own room he found Hermione hard at work in their library, "Hi Mione, are you getting caught back up?" he asked walking over and giving her a kiss.
"Getting there," she replied.
"Are you sure you don't have time for a little break?" he asked as he leaned down and nibbled on her neck.
"Oh Harry you insatiable hero, you just stop. We said Friday night," she replied shaking him away.
"Bother, I thought I had maybe finally found something you liked to do more than homework," Harry said chuckling.
"Well maybe, but I really must get this done," she said grinning.
"Okay fine, I'll just have to keep myself busy," Harry said and with that he left her alone with her studies.
The next day Harry gave a practical pop quiz to his seventh years by forcing them to get themselves out of a tricky situation without using their wands, with Harry acting as the tricky situation. He was pleased with their progress but had to publicly scold Ginny saying that flirting with your attacker rarely worked out well though Seamus defended her with a laugh.
Friday evening finally arrived and Harry again had Kreatcher prepare dinner for he and Hermione and was just setting it up in the common room when she came in and collapsed on the sofa next to him. "Wow, who knew that going to school, being head girl, teaching, running a groundbreaking political campaign, (S.P.E.W) and having more of a social life than ever before could be so exhausting," she sighed.
"Well you could always go back to first year when you were such an insufferable know it all that nobody wanted to talk to you," Harry teased.
"I was not an insufferable know it all, I was confident," she said smiling.
"Know it all," Harry repeated grinning right back.
"You know I think I may still have some work to finish up on," she threatened with an evil smirk on her face.
"Oh fine you win, you were just a confident witch," Harry said finally giving in. "Who was a know it all," he threw in under his breath. Hermione just shook her head and smiled at him as they both leaned over to the food to grab a bite. "So I hear you and Ginny have come up with a plan for everything," he mentioned as they dug in.
"Oh yes I believe we have. Didn't Ginny tell you about it?" she asked.
"No she said she thought it would be best for you to tell me."
"And why would that be?" she asked.
"Well probably because you're my girlfriend," he said smiling.
"Well yes but she was your girlfriend before I was," she retorted.
"True but your currently my girlfriend and Ginny is my well… I'm not exactly sure," he replied.
"Not sure, tell me, did you or did you not shag her the other night?" Hermione asked grinning at him.
"Well yeah but only because you told me I needed to get all tender with her," he defended.
"So are you saying you didn't like it?"
"Mione I may not be very good with women but even I know not to answer that one," he replied.
"Okay fine well yes we did come up with a plan but as it involves all three of us I do believe she should be here while we discuss it."
"Fair enough," Harry ceded. "Kreatcher," he called out and in a moment the elf was there. "Would you please go find Ginny and bring her here right away please? She should be either in the Great Hall or her common room."
"Yes Master Potter," he said bowing and a few moments later he reappeared with Ginny in tow who was still holding a chicken wing she apparently had been eating.
"Thanks Kreatcher," Harry said patting the elf on the back before he bowed and disapparated.
"What gives, I was in the middle of dinner?" Ginny asked looking at her two friends.
"You can share ours," Harry said while waving his wand and pulling one of the chairs over close to the table for Ginny to sit on. "Apparently we all need to be here when I hear what this little plan is for the three of us."
Ginny glared at Hermione, "I thought we agreed you would be the one to tell him," she said.
"Oh stop it, I will. I just thought it would be best for us all to be here together so that we are all sure we understand."
"Oh fine," Ginny said as she sat down to eat.
"Okay Love so here it is," Hermione began, looking at Harry. "From day one of our relationship I told you that I was okay with the fact that I may be sharing your heart with Ginny."
"Yeah," Harry said as Ginny looked on.
"And after the date you two had it was quite clear as soon as I saw you both that the love you two had for each other was rekindled even after Ginny tried to bury it."
"Yeah sorry about that," Ginny said still munching on some food.
"It's okay Sweety but anyway Ginny and I have been best friends for years now and in that time we've become nearly as close as you and I have. We know what's in each other's heads which is how I knew she needed you and how she knew I needed you."
"Okay so far I got ya," Harry replied.
"Yes so are we caught up to everything as you know it?" Hermione asked looking at Harry.
"This is all because I told you to pretend I'm stupid isn't it?" he said with a smirk.
"Just a boy," Ginny and Hermione said together bringing about a fit of giggles from both of them.
"Okay but what I couldn't understand about my relationship with Ginny was how I was able to get so close to her. I mean with you I always knew that I loved you even I wouldn't admit it to anyone including myself at times. With Ronald well we were close sure but there was always something between us that made me know that I could do it without him and while I love your best mate and your brother dearly I knew that I could live my life without him. I never felt that way with Ginny and after we talked the other night she told me she felt the same way." At that point the two ladies grabbed each other's hands and smiled at each other. "I don't know really how to explain it but somehow the love, that like I said radiates from you, for the two of us has left an impression on us both and I find myself in love with this girl," she said as they each gently rubbed the others hand.
"You what?" Harry asked looking at the two ladies who were smiling at each other.
"I didn't realize it until the other morning after your date but just walking into the room with the two of you, and now sitting here with you both, it just feels so clear." The two ladies continued to gaze into each other's eyes and slowly Harry understood.
"So you're saying I'm not the only one here that is in love with two people?" he asked.
"See he can be taught," Ginny said laughing.
"So what you're saying is that I love you," he began by pointing at Hermione. "And I love her," he said pointing with the other finger at Ginny. "And you love her and you love her?" he asked using an interact hand movement that got all twisted up.
"You got it Love," Hermione said smiling over at him.
"Yeah and thanks for teaching her how to kiss, you've done a good job with that," Ginny said with a sexy little grin.
"Wait you two have already…" Harry started as he stumbled over himself.
"Well we had to seal our new love with a kiss," Hermione said.
"I think I've been wrong all along. Riddle really did kill me a few months ago didn't he," Harry exclaimed.
"Oh he did," Hermione stated. "But you came back to really live remember," she continued before pulling the back of Ginny's head in and giving her a quick passionate kiss.
"Well no suddenly my mind isn't working so well at the moment."
"Well then, don't think, just do," Ginny said mischievously before getting up and walking over to sit astride Harry's lap and kissing him while Hermione leaned up to kiss his neck.
From there on Harry didn't really use his mind much and by the time it finally kicked back in again he was lying on the floor in front of the fire with a lovely lady nestled under each arm using a discarded pile of clothes for a pillow.
