REVOLUTIONARY HEROES
by Gunman

Disclaimer: I do not own War of the Worlds Goliath, The Patriot, Frozen, Evangelion, Captain America, Wonder Woman, Hancock, elements of Guyver, Teknoman, Star Trek Into Darkness or their characters.

Summary: Heroes from Marvel and DC get thrown back in time to the Revolutionary War to aid both Americans and British forces against the Martian Invasion of Earth.

This story is mostly about what would happen if the Martians attacked Earth during the American Revolution in 1778 instead of in 1899 like in 'War of the Worlds Goliath'. Since there weren't any scientific inventors in 1778, like Nikola Tesla (1856-1943), I decided to put in some super heroes instead as well as some intellectuals who know what they are doing. And Benjamin Franklin doesn't count, because he doesn't know circuitry and steam-punk mechanics.

Chapter 10
The Martians Are Coming

(Atlantic Ocean, 1778)

High above the Atlantic Ocean, seven heroes are unceremoniously dropped out of a portal into open space.

The first was a tall and athletic blond haired man dressed in a blue bodysuit with a white star on his chest, red and white stripes on his stomach, a red, white and blue circular shield on his back, red gloves and boots, and a blue mask/cowl over his head with a white 'A' on the forehead. He looked to be 35 years of age.

This was Captain America, the super soldier of WWII.

The second person was a shapely and athletic woman with long black hair tied in a ponytail, dark blue eyes and flawless peach-colored skin. She was dressed what looked like a red and blue one-piece 'battle suit', a silver bird-like symbol over her ample breasts, with dark blue neck-coverings, dark-blue fingerless gloves that went up past her elbows, knee-length dark blue/gray boots, silver bracelets on her wrists, a silver tiara with a red star on her brow, a gold lasso on her hip, and a sword and shield tied behind her back. She looked to be about 30 years of age.

This was Wonder Woman, the amazon warrior princess.

The third person was a tall and athletic Japanese man with short dark-brown hair and dark blue eyes. He was dressed very simply in a black outfit which included a long-sleeved shirt, black pants, boots, and a long black coat.

This was Shinji Ikari, the Third Child of NERV. Having phased through Khan Noonien Singh in the previous 'Star Trek' universe, Shinji's own unique genetics combined with Khan's granted Shinji triple the normal genetic-enhanced physiology of Khan himself, (essentially a child being given the strength of an adult) but also enhancing his intellect and fighting skills. He was also physically 25 years of age too.

The fourth person was a beautiful woman with silvery blond hair that flapped around in a long white ponytail of sorts, dressed in an elegant white and blue dress with a long cape behind her, and crystal blue eyes. She had a pair of white glass slippers on her feet and flawless white skin. She looked to be about 21 years of age.

This was Elsa Agðarsdotter, ice queen of Arendelle.

The fifth person was a tall and athletic man with dark-brown skin, black hair and brown eyes. He was dressed in a black bodysuit with yellow and white trim and lining across his chest and down the sides of his suit, black boots, no gloves, and a pair of special goggles over his eyes. He looked to be about 40 years of age.

This was John Hancock, the superhuman immortal.

The sixth person was an armored female figure whose armor was mostly pinkish in color with white plating on her feet, knees, elbows, breast plating and on the top of her head. The under armor looked like black leather covering, but of a much tougher material. On her back was a wide sword about 3/4th the side of her body. The helmet on her armor was pink and white, the face plating looking black with a white mouth guard and a pair of bright pink eye lenses.

This was Dr Ritsuko Akagi possessing the power of the Tekno armor, which she acquired in another dimension like Shinji acquired his enhanced genetics.

The last person was a purple-armored female alien figure with spikes on her elbows and on top of her head. Purple armor plating over black organic treads covering the body, a silver medal on her forehead and one on her waist, with two other silver medals on the upper sides of her head, two toes on each foot and five fingers on each hand, no noticeable mouth piece on her face, and yellow eye lenses that seemed to glow right above a pair of nostrils that flushed out steam exhaust.

This was Maya Ibuki possessing the power of the Guyver armor, which she acquired in another dimension like Dr. Akagi acquired her Tekno suit in a completely different dimension.

Hancock grabbed Captain America and Wonder Woman by their hands, while Teknowoman and Lady Guyver hovered in mid-air and tried to get their bearings.

Shinji saw Elsa falling and dove towards her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and plummeted through the clouds.

"Oh! Who are you?" Elsa gasped.

"Don't worry! I'll try to cushion your fall!" Shinji said.

"Thank you, but I think I can cushion us both!" she said as she threw her hands out, streams of ice and snow flying out from her hands.

The streams of ice slammed into the ocean water below, creating a new landmass made of ice but covered in thick powdered snow.

But while Elsa was concentrating on the iceberg she was making, Shinji could have sworn that he saw, out of the corner of his eye, a ship that was on fire.

The pair hit the snow, Shinji on the bottom, both of them cushioned by the powder as they tumbled over and over again, until Elsa was right on the bottom of Shinji himself.

Elsa looked up and blushed at seeing Shinji's face so close to her own. Shinji blushed as well.

"T-Thank you." Elsa said.

"Doitashimashite." Shinji said.

Elsa looked at him strangely, clearly confused by what he had just said.

"Uh... you're welcome." he translated. "I'm Shinji, by the way."

"Elsa." she said with a smile.

Suddenly, the pair felt something impact against the iceberg they were on.

They looked up and saw that a ship with a French flag had collided with them. Worse, the ship was on fire, and they could hear screams coming from the deck.

Shinji pulled Elsa to her feet rather quickly.

"Stay here!" he said to Elsa before he ran towards the ship, leaping a good fifty feet from the iceberg and landing on the deck of the ship. He saw a pair of girls crying out in fear as they were surrounded by fire on all sides.

Not sparing a second thought Shinji rushed towards them, leaping through the fire and landing right before the pair.

His coat was on fire, but he quickly slapped the flames out with his hands. The two girls raced up to him as he picked them up and carried them off the ship, leaping over and around the flames as he quickly made his way back to the iceberg.

Suddenly, the powder magazine exploded, blowing debris all over the place, some of which struck Shinji in the back.

The impact propelled Shinji further through the air, landing the trio in the middle of the iceberg that Elsa had created.

The ice queen rushed over to where Shinji and the girls were, even as the young man was stunned a little by the impact.

Elsa had seen the impact and was worried for Shinji, even as she used her powers to put out the flames that were still attached to his coat.

The two girls were shocked by all this.

"Shinji, are you alright?" Elsa asked.

"I'm fine. That barrel hit me pretty hard." he replied.

"I saw it." she said as she went up behind him and saw a large piece of wood sticking out of his back. "Oh, dear."

Shinji removed his coat and then pulled the piece of wood out of his back.

"Uhh!" he winced slightly.

"You're bleeding!" Elsa said as the two girls looked on. "Here, let me try something." she said as she touched his wound, a coating of ice covering him.

The bleeding was stopped, but the young man seemed like it wasn't a big deal.

The two girls looked on in shock at what had just happened.

A man who had leapt through fire to save them, made a very long jump from their burning ship to an iceberg, while carrying them, was unfazed by a large piece of wood sticking out of his back, not to mention an incredibly gorgeous woman who could control ice and snow. And then they realized that the iceberg they were on was probably her creation as well.

The girls spoke in French, which Shinji barely understood.

Elsa in turn spoke French back to them, for which Shinji was grateful that at least someone could understand them.

"Are they alright?" Shinji asked.

"Yes. A little frightened and shaken, but they're alright. This is Violet, she's 12. And this is Pauline, she's 10." Elsa said, introducing the blond-haired green-eyed girls to Shinji.

Shinji bowed the pair, the girls bowing to him in response.

Suddenly, another French ship appeared near them, a man shouting at them from the railing of the ship itself.

"Papa! Papa!" one of the girls, Violet, shouted.

Realizing the situation, Shinji picked up the girls in his arms as Elsa created an ice bridge from the iceberg to the ship. Shinji walked down first, setting the girls down on the deck of the ship, the pair rushing into their fathers arms.

The man was still hugging and kissing his daughters tightly as Elsa descended the icy bridge with breathtaking elegance and grace, Shinji holding out his hand to help her down. She smiled as she accepted his hand to help her even as the crew just gasped and stared at her beauty.

The father of the two girls came over to the pair as Shinji and Elsa stood together.

"Thank you. For saving my daughters." he said, extending his hand to the man.

Shinji shook his hand firmly.

"Major Jean Villeneuve. French Seventh Lightfoot." the uniformed man said. "And you are?" he asked the pair.

"I'm Shinji Ikari. This is the Lady Elsa." he said to the man.

"Major." Elsa said with a bow.

"Mademoiselle." Jean said with a much deeper bow to the woman. He then turned to face Shinji. "I... don't suppose you found any other survivors on the ship?"

"I didn't." Shinji said as he looked at the girls, suddenly realizing what he meant. "You mean... their mother?"

"Yes. They were on the same ship." the Major said as he placed his hands on the girls shoulders.

"I'm sorry." he said to them.

The French crew was still looking at the large iceberg that Elsa was apparently responsible for, as well as the bridge she had created. And they were staring at Elsa herself. They were gasping and pointing in shock and awe, which only caused Jean to shout at them in French.

Elsa smiled a little, while Shinji was confused.

"What are they saying?" Shinji asked.

"The Major is telling the crew to show some respect to the 'Snow Goddess' who helped to save his daughters lives." she said.

"'Snow Goddess'?" Shinji asked, a little amused. "Well, I suppose that's appropriate."

Suddenly, another ship appeared. A British Man-Of-War that opened fire on the French ship.

The British ship fired on them, a cannonball hurtling right towards them on the open deck.

"Look Out!" Shinji shouted as he pushed everyone around him away from him, including Elsa.

The cannonball came flying towards him right as the young man threw out his hands and caught the 8-pound cannonball in his hands. The impact pushed Shinji back across the deck of the ship before he slammed into the railing.

Everyone looked on in shock as Shinji tossed the cannonball over the side of the ship, his hands burning slightly as he shook off the pain of catching the cannonball.

("He caught the cannonball. He actually caught it.") one of the sailors said in French.

("Impossible!") another sailor gasped.

("But he did.") the first man said.

("I know he did, but... My God!") the sailor gasped.

"Shinji! Are you alright?" Elsa asked in concern as she raced over to him.

"That hurt... like hell." he gasped as he flexed his fingers. "But... I'm fine. I'm alive?"

"Yes. Incredible." Jean said with amazement.

Even his daughters were staring in shock at what Shinji had done.

"They're coming around again!" another sailor shouted.

Elsa then went to the side railing of the ship and threw her hands forward, blasting the water with her icy powers and creating another iceberg that caused the British ship to tip sidewards to the right, with it's cannons arching high into the air. Worse, it was stuck to the iceberg itself.

"Mon Dieu!" a French soldier gasped.

("I don't believe it.") one of the French sailors gasped.

"They won't be going anywhere soon." Elsa said.

"Captain. We should get underway." Jean said.

"Agreed." the stunned captain said as he ordered his men to get the ship underway.

Just then, five figures flew down towards them.

Shinji and Elsa looked on and smiled as the five landed on the deck of their ship.

Captain America, Wonder Woman and Hancock were the first. Followed quickly by the two female figures, who looked very strange to the group of French soldiers.

The pink and white armored figure suddenly glowed and shed her high-tech armor, revealing an attractive blond woman in a blue outfit with a white coat over her shoulders.

The alien looking woman in the purple armor suddenly disengaged her almost-living armor, revealing a younger woman with short brown hair dressed in a tan military-like outfit, with a skirt and white leggings.

Shinji smiled at the pair, knowing only them and not the others. Elsa smiled at Diana, knowing her more than the others.

"Shinji! Are you alright?" the blond-haired woman asked as Elsa and Diana hugged each other.

"Yes, Dr Akagi. I'm fine." Shinji replied.

"Shinji, what did I tell you?" the woman admonished him.

"Sorry, Ritsuko."

(Sigh) "You'll never change, will you?" she said.

"Well... not completely." he said with a laugh.

"Friends of yours?" Elsa asked Shinji as she approached the pair.

"Yes. This is Dr. Ritsuko Akagi and Lt. Maya Ibuki. We all worked for the same organization back in our universe, before coming here. Before we were all 'changed'." he said to her. "This is Lady Elsa, queen of Arendelle. She has ice powers." he said to the NERV women.

"Really?" Ritsuko asked curiously.

"Shinji, this is Diana, princess of Themyscira. I am... not sure who her companions are." Elsa said.

"This is Captain Steve Rogers and Jonathan Hancock." Diana said to the ice queen.

"Hello." she said to the two men.

"Hi ya." Hancock said.

"Nice to meet you." Steve said.

The group continued to talk to each other, while the crew of the French ship looked at the group with curiosity and apprehension. Jean and his daughters approached the group.

"Is everything alright?" Jean asked.

"It's alright. They're friends of ours." Shinji said. He then looked to Ritsuko. "They are, aren't they?"

"Well, we're all in the same situation. But we're not enemies." Ritsuko said.

"But not hardly friends, as we've just met." Maya stated.

"Well then, first, I think, proper introductions need to be made. Then, an explanation." Jean said.

"Yes. I agree." Elsa said.

"But it's probably going to be a long explanation." Shinji said.

"We are several days from our destination." Jean said.

"Where are you headed?" Steve asked.

"The American colonies." he said.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

(Hillsborough, South Carolina)

After introductions had been made, the group continued on their way towards the American colonies.

They were a little stunned to learn that the year was 1778, and that America was currently fighting a war for independence against England.

Captain America and those who were familiar with their history knew what this all meant.

The ship arrived at a small port south of Charles Town, seeing as how the city itself had been taken over by the British. Jean lead the team towards Hillsborough where they met up with a beleaguered Colonel Harry Burwell and what was left of the Continental Army.

"Jean." Colonel Burwell said to the French soldier.

"Harry. It is good to see you." Jean said as the pair shook hands.

"Thank you for coming." Harry said. "And for accepting our request for aid."

"The French army is still making preparations for deployment. I have been sent ahead to help train the militia." Jean said.

Harry wasn't sure how to feel about that. He had been expecting an army, as their own forces were fast dwindling.

"I see. How long?" Harry asked.

"Six months, at the earliest." Jean said.

Six months?! The British could conquer us long before then. Harry thought to himself as he looked at the group of men and women behind him. "And who are your associates?"

"Friends that I made on my journey here. I'll let them introduce themselves to you." Jean said as he called them over.

The group of strangely dressed men and women assembled around the inside of the tent.

"I'm Colonel Harry Burwell of the Continental Army." Harry said as he straightened himself up.

"Captain Steven Rogers, from Brooklyn, New York." the man in the red, white and blue outfit with the shield said.

"I am Diana, princess of the Amazons of Themyscira." the raven-haired woman in the red, white and gold amazon battle dress said. She had a sword and shield with her, as well as a strange lasso on her hip.

"Elsa Agðarsdotter, Queen of Arendelle." the blond-haired woman in the elegant blue and white dress said.

"Shinji Ikari of Japan." the Asian-looking man in the long black coat said.

"Doctor Ritsuko Akagi. Also from Japan." the blond-haired woman in the white coat said.

"Lieutenant Maya Ibuki. Likewise." the young woman with the short brown hair said.

"John Hancock. Formerly of Africa." the dark-skinned man in the black outfit said.

"Shinji and Lady Elsa saved my daughters from a British-Man-Of-War that fired upon their ship. It was really something to see. The others are... well, quite powerful." Jean said.

"Really?" Harry asked.

"Really." Jean said.

Harry gave the group of people an appraising look, as if studying them.

"You're a doctor?" Harry asked Ritsuko.

"Hard to believe in this day and age, but yes." she said with a smile.

"Good. We need as much help as we can get."

"I know."

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Ritsuko, Maya and Shinji helped out as best they could with the injured soldiers, while Steve, Diana and Elsa made plans with Colonel Burwell and Major Villeneuve. Though Ritsuko and Maya were more suited for computer work, the blond doctor was a talented physician, having been required to take care of Rei Ayanami when at NERV. They quickly got into helping the soldiers that kept coming in to the camp.

John, seemingly the most powerful of the group, put his muscle to work, though he was a little upset at the level of slavery in this world. Then again, it was 1778. Which was something he hoped to change in this time, since he was now more aware of it than in his previous world.

Steve was a trained soldier, though his methods and tactics were far different than Harry's were. Despite that, he knew about the Revolutionary War and what was to come.

Diana was a warrior, trained for decades on Themyscira in the art of combat. Despite the differences in warfare that she was used to, she knew what battle was. Especially since the weapons she had faced back in WWI were more advanced than the muskets the British and Americans were using.

And Elsa, though she had never experienced warfare before, was no less taught the many arts of diplomacy and politics that surrounded war. Especially since this time period was closer to her own time than the last dimension she had been in before leaving Arendelle and encountering Diana.

There were still hundreds of injured men being treated when former-Captain Benjamin Martin and his son Gabriel arrived at the encampment.

HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Despite being reinforced by Major Jean Villeneuve and a group of people with powers and skills that none of his men possessed, Harry Burwell is still slightly depressed when Benjamin Martin arrives. Mostly because he wasn't sure just how well the new group would function. There was an argument as to how their presence might actually change the destiny of this world and if they should be involved at all. They were doing their best to help the Continental Army, but would they actively fight alongside them?

Harry looked up as he saw Benjamin standing before him.

"Benjamin Martin. I'm in no mood for a lecture." Colonel Burwell said with a sigh, knowing full-well how Benjamin felt about the war.

"Where's your General Gates now?" Benjamin asked.

"Last anyone saw, riding hard North-East, his staff 100 yards behind him trying to catch up." he said.

"So who's in command?" he asked.

"I am. I think." he said with a sigh.

"The British Dragoons burned my home and farm down, after killing my son, Thomas." he said.

Harry looked shocked. Not 'shocked' that it had happened, but shocked that Benjamin was so calm about it.

"When was this?" Harry asked.

"Almost two days ago." Benjamin said.

"I'm sorry to hear that. Where are the rest of your family?" he asked.

"With their Aunt Charlotte. My wifes sister."

"I see." he said, nodding in understanding.

"I'm here to help. What are my orders?" Benjamin asked.

Harry smiled slightly as Benjamin said that.

"We're a breath away from losing this war, Benjamin." Harry said as he brought his old friend over to the table with a couple of maps on it. "In the north, Washington is reeling from Morristown. He's running and hiding from 12,000 Redcoats. In the south, Cornwallis has broken our back. Captured over 5000 of our troops when he took Charles Town."

"And destroyed the only army between him and New York. So now there's nothing to stop him from heading North to finish off Washington." Benjamin deduced.

"Unless we can keep Cornwallis in the south, till the French arrive. They promised a fleet and 10,000 troops." Harry explained.

"When?" he asked.

"Uh, six months at the earliest." he said with a sigh. His posture and expression seemed to betray his optimism.

"You actually trust the French to keep their word?" Benjamin asked.

"Absolument." a man that Benjamin hadn't noticed spoke up.

"Benjamin Martin. Major Jean Villeneuve. French Seventh Light Foot. He's here to help train the militia." Harry said.

"The hero of Fort Wilderness. You're reputation precedes you." Jean said with slight disdain in his voice.

Ben paid the French Major little mind as he turned to Harry.

"You really expect to hold Cornwallis here using just militia?" Ben asked.

"Not me. You." Harry laughed.

Benjamin laughs at that.

"Harry, they're not soldiers, they're farmers. They'd be better off just letting the British march through." he said to the Colonel.

"They'd be better off, but the cause wouldn't." Harry stated as he went over to his desk and started writing something.

"How many men does Cornwallis have under his command?" Benjamin asked.

"8000 infantry. Around 600 calvary." he said as he started writing on a piece of paper. "I'm giving you a field commission as a colonel."

"Might I request, sir, that you transfer my son here under my command?" Ben asked the man as his son immediately protested.

"Sir, no, I..." Gabriel started to protest.

"No, it's done." Harry countered, cutting him off. "But don't worry, Benjamin. You and Jean won't be alone." he stated.

"What do you mean?" Ben asked.

"We've made some recent allies, prior to your arrival." Harry said.

"Allies?" Benjamin asked.

"Recent friends of the French." Harry said. "They're here to help us until the French army arrives."

"At least they're here now. What can they do?" Ben asked.

"A lot." Harry emphasized.

"That doesn't tell me anything, Harry." Benjamin said.

"Well, perhaps it's better if I show you."

Harry and Jean led Benjamin and Gabriel out into the open area where their new allies were.

They saw a man in a red, white and blue outfit with a shield on his back talking to several soldiers. They saw another man, of Asian descent, along with him.

"That's Captain Steve Rogers and Shinji Ikari. In terms of physical skill, both of them are apparently equal, but far superior to anyone else we've ever seen. They're not your average soldiers. In fact, you could call them... superior soldiers."

"Superior?" Gabriel asked.

"Benjamin, you're good. Very good. But... these two. Well, they might put you to shame."

"Perhaps." he laughed.

"Who is that?" Gabriel asked, seeing a beautiful woman playing with two young girls. She looked out of place here at the camp.

"The Lady Elsa, from the country of Arendelle, next door neighbors to Norway. She has the power over ice and snow." Harry said, causing the two men to look curious.

"Is she a witch?" Gabriel asked as Jean gave him a terse look.

"We don't think so. She and Shinji saved the lives of Jean's two daughters, who she is playing with now, and are both considered friends of the French."

"So... best not to mention that around them, then?" Gabriel asked.

"Precisely." Harry said.

The quartet them noticed a woman with dark brown hair, in a rather flashy red and blue outfit, sparring with several of the Continental Army soldiers. The amount of skin she was showing was rather scandalous.

"Is that a woman? Fighting?" Gabriel asked.

"And winning, apparently." Benjamin said.

"Diana is an amazon, possessing incredible physical strength and fighting abilities." Jean said.

"Amazon?" Gabriel asked.

"Yes. She's apparently centuries old, and well-trained in the art of combat. Not to mention she's amazingly strong." Harry said.

Gabriel looked over and saw a dark-skinned man carrying an enormous amount of crates in his arms like it was nothing. Far more than any horse and cart could carry.

"Who is that?" Gabriel asked.

"John Hancock, apparently the most powerful of the group. He's as strong as a thousand men, he can fly and he's nearly invincible." Harry said.

"He can fly?" Benjamin asked as the man set down the crates and then moved over to where a group of soldiers were testing out their new cannon.

"Nearly invincible?" Gabriel asked.

"Well... just watch." Harry said.

The soldiers fire cannonballs at John, smashing into his chest, with no apparent reaction from him. Until he started coughing from the smoke and gunpowder.

"That's what you meant by nearly?" Benjamin asked.

"Yes." Harry said. "It doesn't really affect him, but it's annoying, according to him."

"Wow." Gabriel gasped.

"I'll say." Benjamin said.

"What's this? More women?" Gabriel asked, looking over and seeing Ritsuko and Maya helping several of the soldiers.

There was something about them that seemed different than the other women he knew. And not just because of their outfits.

Harry smiled as he looked over and saw the two women helping several of the injured soldiers.

"Dr. Ritsuko Akagi, a brilliant woman who apparently has some kind of super armored weapon that we've never seen before. It makes her... well, invincible." Harry said.

"Armored weapon?" Benjamin asked.

"She's a doctor?" Gabriel asked.

"She is." Jean said.

"Who's the other woman?" Gabriel asked.

"Maya Ibuki, she's Dr. Akagi's assistant, and has some kind of... well, armor, I guess you'd call it. But I've never seen anything like it before." Harry said.

While Harry continued to speak with Benjamin and Gabriel, Elsa had wandered over to where Shinji was.

"Oh, Elsa. Are you and the girls alright?" Shinji asked.

"They're doing well, Shinji, but I wanted to ask... what are you going to do once the war is over?" Elsa asked him.

"I... hadn't thought about it. Unless we can find a way home, Dr. Akagi, Lt. Ibuki and I are pretty much stranded here. More than likely, we'll probably go to Japan, find a place there. Maybe. What about you?"

"Well, Jean has offered us, when the war is over, to give us a tour of his homeland. He says we're welcome there at any time." Elsa said.

"All of us, or just the Snow Goddess?" he asked.

"Well... you did save his children." she said.

"So did you. And I'm sure his daughters are quite fond of you." he said to her.

"I helped. But, if I decide to go... I could use a... traveling companion?" she asked with a small blush.

Shinji smiled at her.

"I'd be honored." he said with a smile. "But... what do I say if people ask who I am?" he asked.

"What do you mean?" Elsa wondered.

"If they want to know if I'm your bodyguard, valet, manservant?"

"I think friend would be better." she said with a smile.

And maybe something more. the pair thought in unison.

"My sister Anna would be gushing over this." Elsa said.

"What do you mean?" Shinji asked.

"Well, the first thing she would be trying to do is, get us together." she said.

"Get us together?" he asked. "You mean..."

"Yeah." she said with a blush.

"I see. I'm... actually kinda flattered."

Benjamin Martin and his son, along with Jean, go to assemble the South Caroline Militia.

Shinji and Elsa help the others make their preparations in the army.

Ultimately, the seven newcomers decide to help, and actively fight against the British. Ritsuko and Maya were concerned that their armored weapons would be too much for the Revolutionary War, and John Hancock was also too strong to just wade into the middle of British firing line.

To say nothing about Elsa using her ice powers and Diana shooting through their lines like a wrecking ball. (A term Colonel Burwell and his men didn't understand) Shinji and Steve were more willing to fight, since their powers wouldn't cause massive damage to the enemy lines. They would help, tip the balance of their conflicts, but not overly affect them in the long-run.

In the weeks that followed, Benjamin and his Militia pulled off raid after raid on various British supply lines, ambush attacks on their troops, and even cut down on their troop movements by destroying the majority of bridges between Hillsborough and Charles Town.

Steve and the others worked with The South Carolina Militia several times, oft times finding themselves at odds with the rough-and-tumble group who pretty much set about to kill the British redcoats. Even if some of the redcoats deserved it, Diana and the others found their methods to be rather brutal.

It was shortly after Benjamin and his men had blown up a supply ship just outside of an estate that was having a party that Lord Cornwallis was hosting, that both Steve and Diana were out on recon together. It was this event that changed everything.

The super soldier and the amazon princess were deep within the woods of South Carolina, spying on a group of British soldiers who had made camp for the night. Diana was using her animal-unity to have the surrounding animals spy on the British. When Diana explained to Steve it was a gift from the Goddess Artemis, the super soldier had given her a slightly jealous look. Which she found amusing.

It was then that Steve noticed something overhead.

"Huh, that's interesting." he said.

"What is it, Steve?" she asked.

"It's... a meteor shower." he said as he focused her attention skyward.

Diana looked up and noticed several 'falling stars' streaking across the sky.

"It's beautiful." she said softly.

Steve could only nod and agree.

Some of the animals in the forest even took notice of the falling stars. As if sensing something more going on than just a spectacle to be seen.

However, in the back of Steve's mind, a faint warning was sending up red flags.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

(Hillsborough)

Steve and Diana had returned to the camp a day later, where they saw dozens and dozens of people, who looked like civilians, with their wagons and a few belongings, slowly pouring into the camp.

Many of them looked distressed and scared, and some of them looked like they had just escaped a fire or something. Diana noticed Gabriel Martin was there, helping a young woman with her belongings, as well as that of her parents, one of whom was an older, heavy-set man with only one leg.

"What's going on here?" Steve asked.

"Something bad." Diana deduced, as Shinji suddenly ran up to them.

"Thank goodness you're here!" Shinji said to the pair.

"What's going on?" Diana asked.

"We're being attacked." Shinji said as he lead the pair back to the Colonels tent.

"The British?" Steve asked.

"No. Worse!" Shinji said as he entered the tent.

"The Hessians?" Diana asked, having heard of the mercenaries from Germany.

Steve and Diana were lead to Colonel Burwell's tent, where he and the rest of their allies were assembled around the main table with several maps on it. Ritsuko was giving a briefing, while Maya pointed out several spots on the map. Colonel Burwell was looking upset and confused, while Benjamin, Jean, Elsa and Hancock were looking concerned.

"What's going on?" Diana asked.

"There was a meteor shower two nights ago." Ritsuko said.

"Yes. What about it?" Diana asked.

"It wasn't a meteor shower. It was an invasion." the blond said.

"Invasion? Of what?" Steve asked.

"Martians." Maya said.

"Are you kidding me?" Steve asked.

"Martians?" Diana asked.

"Invaders from the planet Mars." Steve said.

"I don't believe this." Hancock said.

"How do you know?" Diana asked.

"I sent Maya on recon to check out one of the meteors that crashed upstate in New York. She said it wasn't a meteor, but a ship. And from the description, it was from Mars." Ritsuko said.

"I'm still trying to wrap my head around these 'aliens ' you mentioned." Harry said.

"They've already attacked Penbrook and Wakefield." Ritsuko said. "Destroyed them completely."

"How?" Diana asked.

"Giant tri-pod machines that fire incredibly powerful heat rays at their targets." Ritsuko explained. "Technology far more advanced than anything we currently have."

"Where is this Mars from here?" Elsa asked, looking at Shinji.

"More than 50 million miles from our planet." Shinji explained. "But... what are we going to do about it?"

"What do these Martians want?" Harry asked.

"Traditionally, the Martians have been obsessed with conquering our planet for it's resources." Ritsuko said.

"Traditionally?" Benjamin asked. "They've done this before?"

"Several times, in other realities." Ritsuko said.

"I'm still trying to wrap my head around that." Benjamin said in regards to the whole 'alternate reality' thing.

"We're in the middle of a war with the British, and now we've got these aliens to deal with?" Harry groaned, realizing that their situation was more dire if what Ritsuko and Maya were saying was true.

"The worst part about this is that, considering the absence of technology in this day and age, we can't warn the other countries of the world in time. To say nothing about coordinating a defensive measure." Ritsuko said as Maya looked worried also.

"The world doesn't have any emergency protocols for dealing with extraterrestrial threats." Maya stated.

"The Martians will surprise and attack every major country in the world, and annihilate every human they encounter. Millions will die." Ritsuko said.

"We have to do something." Diana said.

While the group talked back and forth, it was Shinji who came up with the only available option.

"We'll need to split our forces." Shinji spoke up, getting everyone's attention.

The group looked at the young Japanese augment.

"Say what now?" Hancock asked.

"The Martians will attack the major cities. The highest population centers." Shinji said.

"How do you know?" Harry asked.

"Because it's the most logical move." Shinji said. "They want the planet, they have to eliminate the only ones who could possibly oppose them. Namely, us."

"He's right." Steve said.

"If we act now, we have the chance to limit as many losses as possible." he said.

"What do you mean?" Benjamin asked.

"We've never encountered the Martians in our worlds. But... there was a story about the Martians attacking Earth from an alternate universe we passed through. They died, because of Earth's germs and bacteria, which human beings have been immune to for thousands of years. But they did a lot of damage before they were stopped. Burned hundreds of cities, killed millions and millions of people. Of course, this was in 1899, not 1778."

"Mankind hasn't advanced enough to even be a match for them. In any form." Ritsuko said.

"We're not even into the steam-punk era of the 1900's." Maya said.

"This is the age of single-shot rifles, cannonballs and horse-mounted cavalry." Steve said.

"Mankind has no advantage against them. Except us." Shinji said, indicating the group assembled around the table.

Harry, Benjamin and Jean realized what they were saying.

"What's your plan?" Harry asked.

"John will head to Africa and the Mediterranean area. Dr. Akagi should head to Japan and China. Lieutenant Ibuki should head to India." Shinji explained. "If John can get me and Elsa to France, we'll take care of the ones that will be landing there. Steve and Diana should stay here to help the Colonies fight off these invaders. I get the feeling they will need it."

"That's stretching us pretty thin." Steve said.

"We don't have a choice. None of the countries in this time can stand up against these invaders, surprise or not. And we have limited number of people who can fly to meet these threats." Shinji realized.

"But you said these Martians would die from the bacteria in our atmosphere." Jean said.

"Yes, but it won't be soon. If we act now, we can save more lives than would be lost." Shinji said.

"Then... we should do this. Send them now." Harry said. "I don't like it, but... it's the best course of action."

"I don't like it either." Benjamin said.

"Wait, before you go." Jean said as he grabbed a quill and a sheet of paper and started writing.

"There's something else." Ritsuko said before she was set to go.

"What?" Harry asked.

"The possibility that this could... unite... mankind." the blond said.

"Unite? You mean..." the Continental colonel started to say.

"The enemy of my enemy is my enemy." she said.

"A common foe." Benjamin said.

"Yes. These Martians seek our destruction. Everyone's destruction. We might be able to use that to bring about a lasting peace for mankind." Diana said.

"That's a huge gambit." Harry said.

"I know. But it's possible." Ritsuko said.

Jean had finished writing and handed the now-dried paper to Shinji, giving him and Elsa a few instructions before they left.

"There's something else you should know." Ritsuko said.

"What? This gets worse?" Harry asked.

"In the alternate universe we visited, the first wave of Martians were defeated by the germs and bacteria of Earth. The second wave of Martians will have built up an immunity to them. They'll attack again, with more powerful weapons and technology." she stated.

"More powerful?" Harry gasped.

Whole towns had been destroyed by the invaders already. At least two in their area, and these attacks were world-wide if they were correct.

"Second wave?" Benjamin asked.

"How long do we have?" Harry asked.

"About fifteen years." Ritsuko said.

"That isn't much time." Harry said.

"Especially if we are going to be upgrading the entire planets defenses and technology. We're talking about rapid education and advancement, which is far faster than this planet is capable of advancing. Especially if we're right about the level of intelligence of the planet in this day and age." Shinji stated.

"We need more time." Harry said.

"We might not have it." Ritsuko said.

"That's upsetting." Jean said.
