OOOOOK! This chapter is alread going to be a pain in the ass I just knew it... TT^TT
Well, better finish this ASAP so without further ado, here's Chapter 10~~~~~
Chapter 10: The Gods of Konoha
"What secrets do you hide Taisho-chan?"
"You cannot take the miko in milord, she's going to be a liability! A stain in the name of the west!" Kagome fidgeted behind Sesshomaru, her blue eyes darting around the spacious room filled with high ranking yokais of the west that makes the infamous Council of the General. She knew this was a bad idea considering how the former Lord of the West AKA Inutaisho ended up the last time a human female got involved with him, so the miko can't really hold it against the old coots if they don't want her in their lands.
"This Sesshomaru did not come here to ask for permission. The miko will stay under this one's tutelage for she is the only one capable of bringing the kumo down and this Sesshomaru will not have her bumbling around like some pest with the future of yokai upon her shoulders." Sesshomaru icily replied, his answer probably the longest sentence Kagome had ever heard from the ruthless Dai.
"She can be trained by a miko milord! Not a Daiyokai of your caliber! You cannot expect her to learn from you especially..." the male yokai-an inu perhaps- tossed her a look full of disgust that made Kagome's temper flare. "...how weak humans are."
"You thread on thin ice Kiyone, do you think this Sesshomaru is dense enough to take on a pupil with no potential?" the Daiyokai's statement immediately made the miko inwardly squeal in delight.
"Though she will take a lot of time, nonetheless, when this one is done with her, not even the most powerful of hanyos can stop her." Sesshomaru continued, his eyes cold and daring the others to contradict his decision once more.
The council quieted for a while.
"Granted that she train, but must you do it yourself Sesshomaru-sama?" came the question of a mizu yokai, soft eyes inquiring not disrespect but merely curiosity.
Sesshomaru glanced down at his side and met the miko's eyes.
"I will not fail you Sesshomaru-sama." She pushed the fact of being surrounded by human hating yokais at the back of her mind, her attention focused only to the one who had surprisingly trusted her the most.
She did not know what the ethereal yokai was looking for but he seemed to have seen it when his lips quirked up only for her to see.
Sesshomaru straightened his posture before turning back to face the council of yokai, his face once more stoic and perfectly composed.
"I will be the one to teach the miko about battle. I will be the one to teach her how to wield a weapon. I will be the one responsible to create Naraku's destruction." the yokais all but bowed down at Sesshomaru's declaration, his voice warping along with his own beast, to the shock of many.
"I swear to the name of Taisho, I will be responsible of the Shikon no Miko's victory, and our name will triumph with Hers."
"This is madness Hokage-sama!" Unsurprisingly, Kagome's statement had caused instant chaos among the council room, both Koharu and Homura simultaneously bursting a vein or two.
"You cannot let two criminals fall under someone as dangerous as Taisho!" The old woman shrieked. "She is plotting something, I knew it."
Sarutobi sighed at the upcoming headache and set down his smoking pipe.
"I do understand that you are all wary considering Taisho's past, or lack of that is, but as Hokage, consider her innocent." The miko began breathing deeply, uncomfortable about the dangerous road the discussion was leading to.
"Why?! We are the council of Konohagakure! Something that even the Hokage hides from us would surely arouse suspicion no?" Homura knew he can get the information he wants in due time, and this is the opportunity he'd been waiting for.
Taisho has been in the dark for far too long.
"You dare question me Homura?" the sudden change in tone made both Koharu and Homura flinching in fear, not used to Sarutobi adamantly fighting about something like this.
After all, he is still the Hokage.
"I have told you long ago that Taisho's files are stamped as Double S-Rank did I not? What you said about the Hokage hiding things from the council to be suspicious is enough to warrant you of treason Homura."
"Y-you cant!" the old man yelled in shock with Koharu watching in growing horror.
"I can, and I will if you question me once more. No one can access Double S-Ranked files without my permission and I never gave you that permission." The Sandaime looked at the two councilmen with narrowed eyes, looking for any signs of fighting back.
He saw none.
Sarutobi was about to take up his pipe once more and continue the trial but froze when another voice spoke up.
"Not even us Sarutobi?" Kakashi felt a chill crawl up the whole expanse of his spine and involuntarily flinched with a hand against his covered eye.
Homura and Koharu stiffened to their seats even more, their eyes wide with horror as they set their sights on the newcomers. Why are they here? They were never present during other trials so why are they here?!
The Sandaime inwardly groaned at the difficult situation he had landed himself on. Of all the people to drop by it just have to be these two.
Talk about a rock and a hard place.
"What a pleasant surprise..." He took up his pipe and inhaled, nearly emptying the thing in one go.
"Madara, Izuna..."
"Focus miko." Kagome gritted her teeth and picked herself from the ground, barely holding her wince back from escaping.
It was already dawn and the miko was on a constant beat down in courtesy of the Taiyokai since yesterday's lunch.
"Give me a second, Sesshomaru-sama." She leaned against the training sword the Daiyokai had given her for training and struggled to gather her bearings. While she might have been much more stronger and has longer stamina than normal humans, she's still not that invincible especially with a ruthless Lord hounding at her heels 24/7.
"Straighten up, then come again." With a deep groan, Kagome took up her sword once more, arms shaking at the sheer weight of the thing. Sesshomaru did say that by the time she mastered using her training katana she'll be able to lift even Tessaiga so that's a silver lining in itself.
"Haaaa!" The miko swung at the daiyokai's side, not surprised about him blocking the weapon. She jumped away and charged on a different angle only for him to block it effortlessly once more.
She kept advancing, his words about swordplay replaying inside her mind and guiding her body through the sparring. The miko kept attacking, not caring if every move is blocked.
"Analyze your opponent's pattern and think a way through it." Sesshomaru said as he stepped back in order to block a particularly vicious strike from the young woman.
The Daiyokai surveyed the miko, noting her fierce expression and how the scent of determination leaked through every single pore in her body. The miko has been progressing much more faster than he'd expected her to be, making him think that he had made the right choice of bestowing his honor on the miko-in-training. Sesshomaru is a very curt being, he does not waste his time on things that are not worth it, and in the span of months that he had seen for himself, the miko is certainly worthy.
It has been a year after he had took the girl under his wing and she has yet to prove his decision wrong. While still hard-headed and more emotional than he deems healthy, the Shikon Miko proves herself over and over again to be just as resilient as any yokai he knew.
Which earned her his full respect that formed a grudging attachments of sorts.
If only she has better taste in men.
Someone who bears his family's name should find someone much more worthy than his ill-tempered brother*...
Perhaps one of his generals would do.
"Sesshomaru-sama!" the daiyokai blinked.
"You're not even trying!" Kagome pouted and narrowed her eyes at the obviously day dreaming yokai. While he might look as attentive as ever, Kagome knew him enough to recognize the almost half lidded look he always seems to fall into whenever he began thinking deep.
And it pushed Kagome's button like hell.
"Take me seriouslyyyyyy!" She complained and Sesshomaru cannot help himself from comparing her to a cat throwing some hissy fit.
"Then show me that you are worthy of this Sesshomaru's full attention." That got the miko fired up enough.
"I'll show you attention!" And with that, the miko and the Daiyokai continued their training until Kagome reached the point of not being able to stand on her own.
If there was someone in par, or above the Hokage, it would automatically be the Twin Gods* of Konoha.
Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Izuna to be precise.
'Shit.' was the single word that echoed inside Kagome's mind.
She's been able to remain hidden and not pique the interest of the two since she knows that there are people who can, or definitely will force the Hokage into telling what's the deal with the time travelling miko. And these two are certainly one of those.
"What is this about Taisho's..." Kagome fought hard to not squirm under Madara's intense scrutiny. "-classified files?"
"The Hokage refused to inform us about this girl's past and how she came to be a citizen of Konoha, especially now that she's vouching for two criminals from Kiri and is also willing to take the two in her... clan." Kagome's expression which remained cool during the past discussion immediately morphed into something feral.
"Do not talk about my family name in that tone Mitokado-san." the council man flinched, his eyes falling victim to Kagome's raging steels.
Kakashi settled a hand on her shoulder and she calmed somewhat.
"That is indeed kind of... Pardon my words Sarutobi-sama, but as one of the protectors of Konoha, we do find it suspicious." Izuna softly stated, his milky eyes looking straight at nothing in particular.
"See Hokage-sama? Even the great Gods of Konoha had deem it necessary for us to know about this girl." Koharu smugly stated as she sent a victorious look towards Kagome's direction.
"Who told you it would be us?" Madara enjoyed the shocked look both council members threw his way.
"Sarutobi-sama did not fail to state that Taisho-san's files are forbidden to be seen by others but we, are an exception. Sadly, you do not hold the same privileges as me and my brother so Im afraid we would still have to let you stay in the dark." Izuna, despite his blindness, can literally feel the outrage pouring out of the two old people.
The Uchiha then turned their attention to Kagome who stiffened.
"As for you young lady, we will continue this trial when we deem you clean." those words threw a sense of nausea at Kagome.
She'd have to let other people know about her.
The mere thought was sickening.
"Hai..." Kakashi threw a worried glance at his student, clearly seeing how cornered she felt by how she hid her eyes and balled her hands into tight fists.
While he's dying to know about her past and what happened precisely in order for her to act like how she does now, Kakashi still knows the meaning of boundaries and limitations.
He'd just have to wait for the right opportunity.
And now is definitely not the right one.
"Can I request something of you Hokage-sama?" The kunoichi's words made all attention turn to her once more.
"I request for Momochi and Yukitaru's transfer to the Senta until my trial is finished." both Koharu and Homura did not fail to rage at her requests.
Not that Sarutobi let him stop him though.
"I will have them transferred right away." Kagome seemed to have sagged at the statement. "But your trial will still be on progress until Madara and Izuna is finished with..." Sarutobi trailed off and can do nothing but inwardly apologize to both Kagome and Midoriko.
"Understood."
"Kakashi, kindly sent my orders of transfers to the ANBU stationed for Momochi and Yukitaru... For the meantime, you are dismissed until further notice." The Hatake was obviously unsure whether to live just like that, not really comfortable on leaving his students alone.
Sighing, Kakashi merely bowed in affirmative before giving Kagome a farewell pat on the head.
With a poof, he was gone.
"Koharu, Homura, you are equally dismissed." The two mentioned members stiffly made their way out of their stationed seats and respectively threw a glare at Kagome's direction, which she promptly ignored.
"And please do begin preparing the papers necessary in relation to Momochi and Yukitaru's parole." Sarutobi inwardly laughed at Koharu's indignant hiss and Homura's glower.
"Hai, Hokage-sama." the door slammed close, leaving the four nins alone in the whole council room.
"So..." Madara drawled and Kagome pursed her lips to stop the churning of her stomach.
"What secrets do you hide Taisho-chan?"
*Inuyasha does not share the name Taisho since he practically exiled himself. Do note that the relationship I intend to make between Kagome and Sesshomaru is purely platonic.
*BOOM ANOTHER PLOT TWIST XD XD XD
So yeah... lol. Yes, I just did that.
Sue me.
Trust me people, I did not butcher Madara and Izuna's canon roles just for the hell of it. They will be vital in the story and damn it they will kick ass.
So before I accidentally say something that might spoil you guys, Im just gonna say that IGNORE MY AUTHOR'S NOTE ABOVE. I actually did enjoy writing this chapter and hot hell I seriously had fun roasting Homura and Koharu more than necessary XD
One more thing about this chappy is we got to see a snippet of Kaggy's past~~ Especially how she managed to have the name Taisho. While the minor flashbacks didnt really explain everything, the next chapter and the ones that will soon follow after will hopefully explain most of it. :3
