Chapter 10
It was morning. Han stood leaning on the car, eating an egg bagel sandwich. The cats were too. The owls had caught some mice, refusing to eat eggs. "You know, I'm sure I don't want to know why all the staff were yelling about owls in the hall in the middle of the night." Han commented in a way that suggested they were either in trouble, or he did want to know.
"Nope." Twilight shook his head, most of the other owls making agreeing noises.
"Or why I had to go into the laundry room to get the cats in the morning."
"Oh definitely not." Tigerstar agreed.
Scourge looked at Lionblaze. "And your series still isn't good."
Han muttered something about prequels versus originals in Star Wars than stood up straight. "All right, let's get going."
A few miles later and everyone was bored. Except Soren and Han. Soren was working the road map while Han muttered darkly that he knew where he was going.
"So now what do we do?" Firestar asked.
"Vandalize the car again?" Kludd suggested.
"No." All the other owls chorused.
"Again?" Tigerstar questioned.
"That's how we got into that mess in the first place, with needing gas." Gylfie explained.
"You guys get to do all the fun stuff." Tigerstar complained.
"You wrecked my car again, I'd have to kill you." Han called back to him.
"Han-" Soren tried to get his attention.
"And you're a fictional character who can just come back to life, so I could do it." Han carried on, ignoring Soren.
Soren tried again. "Han."
"And you're a villain, so everyone would thank me for it." Han continued.
"Hey!" Kludd shouted. Scourge just kind of gave Han a look of death.
"Han!" Soren snapped.
"What is it Soren?!" Han asked impatiently.
Suddenly the car jolted to a stop. "We're out of gas." Soren answered unnecessarily.
"Again?" Han complained. "Where are we going to find a gas station here?"
They all climbed out of the car. The owls flew up higher to see above the tree tops. "Well, no gas station in sight." Soren announced, squinting against the bright daylight. "But there is this place off in the distance that looks like a house."
"Wouldn't take us long to fly there." Digger added.
"Great. You guys fly there, see if they have any gas, and get back here." Han directed.
Hollyleaf turned to him. "Why don't you get the gas?" She asked accusingly.
"I'm the one driving." He reminded her.
Hollyleaf sighed. "I'm coming with you!" She called up to the owls.
"Me too!" Jayfeather said. And pretty soon everyone but Han was going to check out that house. The owls all perched on top of various cats, and the cats took off down the road.
(An actual update. Don't get too used to it. I'm working on other stuff.)
