Brynn was fiddling with the pendant in her gloved hand. She hadn't spoken to any of the Potter-Weasley clan since her birthday and now it was their first day back after the summer holiday. Brynn was sitting next to Scorpius on the train when Albus entered the compartment.

"Hey guys," he grinned at his two friends. "I haven't seen you most of the summer Brynn!" He declared. Brynn shrugged. Albus turned to Scorpius. "And you ditched me in Diagon Alley!" He claimed.

"I was buying Brynn's birthday present." He gestured to the pendant she was fiddling with.

"Wow," Albus said. He looked it over. "It looks expensive." Scorpius shrugged.

"I don't purchase rare trinkets and tell." Scorpius grinned. The three sat in silence most of the ride until they got to the school. They were bored as ever through the Sorting Ceremony, but clapped as each new member joined their table. After the Ceremony was over everyone headed off to their common rooms. Brynn was sitting in the Slytherin common room with Scorpius, Albus, and Janie Alexander when they heard screams from the second year girls dormitory. Brynn ran upstairs to find Vada hovering on a wall as if someone or something was holding her there. Her hands were at her throat as she tried to gasp for air. Brynn looked up, Codi was on the ceiling experiencing the same thing as Vada. Suddenly they heard a crack. It had come from the window. Janie and Brynn opened the draperies to find Briana in the same situation as the other two girls. The window behind her was cracking as whatever force holding her to it pushed her further against it. She tried to breathe but couldn't.

Brynn looked around to see if she could find something- anything that would tell her why this happened. She figured it out. The pendant had been uncovered from the cloth protecting it. Brynn ran to it, wrapped it, and shoved it back into the box. The three girls were let free just as the window broke. Janie grabbed Briana's hand and pulled her into the dormitory.

"Are you girls okay?!" Brynn asked. Vada shook her head.

"What happened?" Janie asked. Codi lifted her hand and pointed to the corner of the room. The corner of the room with Brynn's four-poster. Brynn walked to it and opened the drapes. On the bed there was a note.

Dangerous things such as this could make the world go quite amiss if, say, they were to disappear.

Brynn crumpled the note and threw it in the trash. She grabbed the box and sat at the desk while Janie and a girl named Leia took the three girls to the infirmary. Brynn began scrawling on a piece of parchment.

Lily,

I need you to keep this safe. Never take it out of the box unless you have the intention of wearing it.

It's cursed. The only one that it hasn't any affect on is you. I've seen it. It almost killed three of the girls in Slytherin today and I just can't put the school at risk.

Will you keep it?

Brynn taped the note atop the box and sent it off with her owl the next morning.

The next morning Brynn visited her three friends in the hospital wing.

"What happened to you three?" She asked. Briana cleared her throat and began to whisper her reply.

"We were getting ready for bed when Codi started screaming, she said she saw something-"

"I did see something." Codi interrupted.

"Codi saw something and when Briana and I turned to look no one was there, but a box had appeared out of no where with that necklace in it." Vada continued for the both of them.

"Suddenly Codi was holding her throat and she was thrown to the ceiling that's when Briana and I screamed. I was next and then Briana." Brynn looked at the three of them.

"Something was trying to kill us." Codi whispered as she rubbed the bruises on her neck. Brynn gave them a hug.

"I'm so sorry, that necklace belonged to me- it was locked away though. I don't know how it ended up out in plain sight." Briana gave a weak smile.

"It's okay. As long as it's gone now." Brynn nodded.

"I just sent it off." The three girls let out sighs of relief.

"Good." Vada mumbled. The bell chimed and Brynn left the girls with Madam Pomfrey.

Brynn caught up with Albus and Scorpius on their way to lunch.

"How are the girls?" Albus asked.

"They're okay. Very shaken, but they'll recover." Albus let a small smile creep across his face.

"Not stern?" Albus said. Brynn gave him a quizzical look. "Shaken, not stern-" She hit him on the shoulder.

"They nearly died and you make a bad joke!?" She says exasperatedly. Albus grins.

"Someone had to." Suddenly Louis came crashing onto the Slytherin table.

"Is Briana okay!?" He asked. Brynn nodded.

"She'll be fine Louis." He nodded.

"Good, good I was just worried is all." He muttered.

"Did you want to visit them with me later?" He nodded vigorously.

"Can I come too?" James popped his head up out of nowhere.

"I suppose,"

"Us too!" Albus said as he linked arms with Scorpius causing the blonde's face to turn pink.

"Sounds good, we can all visit!" James and Louis sat down next to Brynn and finished their lunch at the Slytherin table.

At the end of the day, when class was finished, the five preteens visited the three girls.

"Hey girls," Louis said when he walked in. Vada and Codi's eyes lit up bright from the sight of their crush but dropped when he walked over and sat at Briana's side. "How are you feeling Briana?" He asked. She smiled slightly.

"Fine, I'm fine." She replied. Albus took a seat by Codi and pulled out a wizard's chess board.

"Now we're talking!" Codi said with a grin. Albus made the first move.

Two hours had passed and Albus was now lying on the floor in a defeated mess. Codi had beaten him all three games. He had never lost a game to anyone other than his dad and he certainly hadn't lost a game more than once to the same person. He was rolling back and forth on the ground.

"It's okay Al, if you want to learn how to play some day just gimme a shout!" Codi said with a victorious smirk on her face. Brynn finished up her conversation with Vada when the group decided it was best to hit the sack.

The two Gryffindors separated from the Slytherins as they headed to the common rooms. On the way an owl flew by and dropped a letter in Brynn's hand.
