Chapter Ten: No Running and No Hiding

Joker and Scarecrow waited in the small closet for the security scan to be complete so that they could make a run for it.

Things did not go according to plan and they were smart enough to know that they were in trouble.

Before they came they did do there research on the titans and they did know that they were worth opponents but they underestimated them, now they were going to pay for it.

They knew that the bulk of them were in the main room but a few were wondering the halls.

While they stayed in the lovely tower they managed to bug most of the halls room and grounds so that if worse came to worse they would have a safe escape rout.

What they were not counting on was how much security they had. Sure they expected security but not on the level the tower had. Scarecrow scolded himself thinking that they should have expected it since one of the team members was half robot and is amazing with tech stuff.

So here they were now stuck in a closet waiting for an opportune moment so that they could escape. They needed a moment when everyone was out of the main room and when the others were not so close to the nearest exit.

What they needed was a distraction. They decided that Joker would be the distraction. He would run along the halls spreading laughing gas and they had just enough that Scarecrow could get out then create a outside distraction so that Joker could get away.

They waited just a bit so that the group that was roaming the halls would pass then Joker would run.

"Were could they be?" Asked BeastBoy as they roamed the halls.

Robin shrugged "They haven't left that's all I know."

Raven levitated above them along with Starfire "When we get them you may have to restrain me from make a one way portal strait to my fathers."

Starfire grumbled, "I will not be doing the stopping of you, I shall be assisting you."

Robin glanced up at the girls "Ill stop both of you, he goes back to Arkam."

BeastBoy nodded "As much as I would love to tear them both apart Robin is right good guys don't stop to bad guy level."

Raven snickered "Wow something intelligent that came from BeastBoy."

BeastBoy sunk a bit "Hey!"

Robin sighed and then he stopped "Listen."

Then they heard it. Laughter, sick maniacal, distorted laughter and it was close.

Robin pointed to the direction of the sound "TITANS GO!"

With that they all headed to the source of the sound. When they came close green smoke filled the air. Robin screamed "Back Up and Hold your breath!"

They did just that and they backed into another hall.

He shook his head "Laughing gas."

Starfire snarled "Then wait here."

"Star wait no!"

Before he could stop her she took a big gulp of air and flew off into the cloud of green.

Robin ran a hand down his face "Shoot, lets try to cut them off Raven?"

Raven chanted "Azarath Metrion Zinthos and they were down the hall hopefully in front of Joker and Scarecrow."

Joker was looking behind him laughing when green lights shone through the green smoke.

Joker stopped laughing and looked puzzled then the two green lights came closer and closer and closer until "Umfff!"

Starfire knocked Joker over and punched him. He was able to get to her feet and he smacked her back.

Starfire was dazed for a minute then shook it off.

Joker was running away and she followed.

She shot starbolt's at him but he dodged them.

She growled and sped up. Finally she caught up to him again and instead of tackling him she grabbed him by his shirt and picked him up.

She then flew to the nearest room with a window and she blasted the window out. She flew outside and adjusted her hold on Joker so that she was holding him out from her.

Joker looked around and clapped his hands "Well done."

"you have harmed my friends, destroyed my home…"

"Actually you did that yourself beautiful."

"BE SILENT! You attempt to use me a bomb and you shall pay for what you have done."

Robin led Raven and BeastBoy to where Joker should have been but he wasn't there. They looked around and saw starbolt burns and followed them until they stopped then they looked around again and Robin saw the room with the open door and broken window.

Starfire loosened her grip and grip and Joker laughed, "Tell old bats he has been a worthy opponent."

Starfire loosened her grip more and Joker closed his eyes. Before she could drop him Robin yelled out "STAR NO! Don't stoop to his level."

Starfire looked at Robin then back at Joker she whispered her voice filled with venom "You are lucky."

With that she flew off with him to the window that belonged to the main room.

She then threw him in through a hole that was already there.

Joker landed with a thud and rubbed his head "That wasn't very nice."

"Do Not talk to me about the subject that is nice."

Joker shut up and looked around.

Batman was standing over him and Joker smiled at him "Hello Bats!"

Batman grunted then pulled out a pair of handcuffs and handcuffed his hands together.

Starfire flew in and tried calming herself but she was still mad so her eyes remained lit green.

Cyborg patted her shoulder "I would say you should have dropped him but this was the right thing to do."

She shook her head "Where is the Scarecrow?'

Cyborg shrugged "No idea, only half my system is working so I kept my eyes on Joker incase you lost him."

Starfire nodded "Okay, then we shall conduct a search for him."

At that moment Robin, Raven and BeastBoy walked in.

Robin nodded to the screen "Cyborg stay on monitors, Jason Tim watch Joker, Babs Batman and I sweep the inside, BeastBoy, Raven, Starfire sweep the outside."

Batman nodded in approval not that anyone was paying much attention and they split up.

Robin walked the halls with his father and his old friend.

Babs then tapped Robin's shoulder "Robin… I am sorry."

Robin looked at her quizzically "Yeah?"

She nodded "Yeah, I don't know her but I can tell by the way you look at her, you love her."

Robin gave a small smiled "Broke all your rules Batman but yeah its true."

Batman shook his head in disapproval "Your not really in my jurisdiction anymore."

I smiled again "You guys really actually need to come a visit and get to know the team."

Babs nodded "That could be fun."

"We will talk about it after we finish here, maybe you should even come a visit instead, I know a certain butler who misses you."

Robins smiled widened "I guess it would be nice to visit, what's with your change of heart?"

"I saw how much of a team you are, you actually work together well and have strong bonds of friendship between all of you."

Robin felt proud of his team; sure they didn't get along 100% but who did?

Batman then pointed ahead "Now can we please focus."

Babs and Robin nodded and they continued the search for Scarecrow.

Raven used her senses to look for a feeling of fear or panic while she was searching outside and she finally found it.

The source was on the bottom floor of the tower.

She pulled out her communicator "Robin front door."

"Meet you there."

Starfire, BeastBoy and Raven made there way to the front door and set up an ambush.

They waited then he stepped through.

Scarecrow didn't stand a chance; he let out a yell before being surrounded by black energy.

Raven smiled as the shield started to become smaller and smaller and smaller.

Then when Scarecrow thought that he was going to be squeezed to death she stopped.

Robin, Batman and Babs ran through the front doors.

Raven released him and Batman handcuffed him.

BeastBoy smiled brushing imaginary dust off his shirt "Well that was easy."

Scarecrow seemed ticked "Oh really?"

BeastBoy nodded "Yeah, you weren't that hard to apprehend."

"I shall make note of that next time."

Starfire got in his face eyes glowing "If you are wise there shall not be a next time."

Scarecrow seemed to shrink and Robin smiled "good work team."

The Bat clan climbed aboard the plane saying their goodbyes with two grumpy and defeated villains.

The titans waved goodbye as the plane flew away.

Starfire walked over to Robin and laced her fingers with his. Robin smiled at her then looked back at the plane that was not a distant speck "You two would be really good friends."

Starfire sighed "I do no know her like you so I shall trust what you say about her."

Robin laughed "Serious Star you two would be very good friends."

Starfire gave him a small smile then they headed inside with Cyborg.

That left BeastBoy and Raven on the roof.

Raven stood there awkwardly then BeastBoy spoke "So you were worried about me?"

Raven nodded "Yeah, so?"

BeastBoy gave her a huge smiled "I was worried about you."

Raven was puzzled by what he meant but then he walked over and kissed her.

Raven didn't know what to do at first, throw him off? But then she relaxed and kissed him back. She had to admit she had thought of kissing BeastBoy before but she never thought that it would be like this.

He pulled away after a bit a stupid grin on his face. The grin was contagious and Raven had a shy smile. He then laughed "Thank You for not killing me for doing that."

Raven playfully shoved him "Shut up." With that Raven started walking inside with BeastBoy trailing close behind her.

They had survived like they always do. No matter what because they were a team, a family and all the trials did was make them stronger; and they have never been stronger than in that moment. They are Teen Titans.
