Dani is quite interesting, isn't she? She's definitely worth keeping an eye on.
Yes, good thing it was only kissing on Remy's mind!

Glad you like the update!
You'll have to wait and see if Rogue gets pregnant again or if they actually get to adopt.

You seem to be looking over my shoulder as I write out the next chapters to these stories, lol. Eating after swimming has never bothered me, so that's why I wrote it in. I understand that some say it causes problems and there are all of these myths and urban legends, but like I said - it never bothered me. Remember, 90% of this is written from personal experiences. Take that as you will. Also, about Leila being able to see Gambit's thoughts will be touched on right now and throughout this chapter and the next!

I agreed. The comics are all drama. There's no real FAMILY in them. Just a bunch of headaches.
Ain't nobody got time fo' dat!

Thanks! Glad you like it! You shall learn more about her powers!
WARNING: SLIGHT ADULT SITUATIONS
After their busy evening of swimming and tag, it was time for everyone to settle down and get ready for bed. Heading their seperate ways, Gambit and Rogue walked into the bedroom with Leila wrapped in a beach towel. Taking her to her room, Gambit placed her feet on the ground and turned to get a night gown out of her drawer.
"Wha' y' wanna wear t'night?" He asked, holding up several gowns.
"That one." She said, pointing to the one with a giraffe on it.
"A'right." He said, taking the towel off of her and helping her get out of her bathing suit and into the night gown.
After getting her all dressed, Gambit picked her up and placed her in her bed. Heading over to her dresser, he smiled at Rogue who watched from the doorway, as he grabbed the pink hair brush and head back over to Leila. Sitting beside her, he began to brush her hair.
"Tomorrow mornin', we need ta get ya a bath, sugah." Rogue said, smiling at the little girl's droopy eyelids fighting to close.
Patting her head once he was done brushing her hair, Gambit leaned over and kissed her forehead. "G'night." He said, standing and placing the brush on the dresser before heading to the door.
"Wait!" Leila said, hugging her knees. "I need Freddy."
Gambit raised an eyebrow. "Who's Freddy?" He asked.
"The giraffe mommy got me." Leila said, pointing to the chair across from her bed. "He likes to sleep on this side." She pat the right side of her.
Smiling, Gambit grabbed the stuffed giraffe and placed it to the right of her. "Now lay down an' I tuck y' two in." He said, watching as she did so.
After tucking them in, he kissed her forehead once more before he turned the light out, making sure the nightlight was on. "Goodnight, love." Rogue called from the doorway.
"Goodnight, mommy." Leila answered as they left her room, leaving the door cracked.
Heading into their room, Gambit closed the door behind them and sighed. "What's wrong?" Rogue asked, standing at her dresser and taking her ear rings off.
Shaking his head lightly, he smiled. "Jus' tired." He said, walking over and sitting on the end of the bed, watching her through the mirror as he kicked his shoes off.
Turning around, she smiled at him as she walked over and ran her fingers through his hair. "Then get in bed." She said, kissing his forehead.
"Gotta brush my teet'." He said, standing and heading into the bathroom where Rogue followed and did the same.
After taking care of their nightly routines, they head back into the bedroom and turned the light out before crawling into bed. Rogue cuddled close and rest her head on Gambit's right shoulder as he wrapped his arm around her. She smiled when he kissed the side of her head and gave her a gentle hug.
"Y' know how Leila see wha' y' t'inkin' by lookin' int' yo' eyes?" He said, the thought just hitting him.
"Yeah." Rogue said, placing her left hand on his chest.
"How she see wha' I was t'inkin'?" He asked. "Telepat's can't see my t'oughts. Why can she?"
Rogue lifted her head and looked in his direction. "Ah don't know. Ah didn't think about that." She said, feeling him sit up and suddenly the table lamp was turned on and he turned to her.
"If it dat easy fo' her t' get in m' mind, den I gotta make sure not t' t'ink 'bout de past." He said, looking at Rogue.
"Why would ya think about that, anyway?" She asked, placing her hand on the side of his face. "Ya happier now, right? Why dwell on tha past that makes ya miserable?"
Shrugging, he placed his hand on hers. "Sometime it jus' popps in m' head. Don' mean t' t'ink 'bout it." He said.
"Ah understand." Rogue said, leaning in and hugging him. "When they pop in ya head, ya just think about me and Leila. That's all ya need ta be thinkin' about anyway, sugah."
He smiled as he hugged her back, kissing her shoulder. Pulling away, Rogue placed her hands on the sides of his face and kissed him. Kissing her back, he followed her lead and lied back, feeling her straddled his waist as the kiss heated up. Running his hands down her back, he grabbed her thighs as he lifted his hips up into her while she began to grind against him.
"Ah want ya, Remy." Rogue whispered, huskily into his ear as she kissed it.
Sitting up, he grabbed her tank top and pulled it up over her head, tossing it aside before he kissed her chest and moved up to her neck as his hands found her breast and gently kneaded them, causing the nipples to stand on end. Rogue moaned and rolled her head back as he kissed her where ever he could on her upper body before he lied her back and pulled her shorts off. Slipping out of his underwear, he tossed it aside before he straddled her legs and smiled down at her as she reached up and ran her hands down his chest before they came to his member. Taking hold, Rogue worked him as they shared a passionate kiss once more. Once he was good and hard, Rogue wrapped her legs around him and pulled him down on her.
Entering into her, Rogue sighed, hugging his head and kissing the side of his face as he moved in and out slowly. "Yes." She moaned, breathlessly as he continued his slow, sexy pace.
It wasn't but moments later that they heard the door handle. "Merde!" Gambit cursed, quickly covering themselves as the door slowly opened.
"Mommy?" Leila asked, seeing her parents sitting in bed.
Trying to regulate her breathing, Rogue tucked her hair behind her ears. "What is it, baby?" She asked.
"I'm thirsty." She said, hugging Freddy.
"Well, go on back ta bed and ah'll bring ya some water, alright?" Rogue said, keeping the covers over her chest.
"Okay." Leila said, turning around and heading back to her room, not closing their door.
Lying back, Gambit sighed. "An' dis is one o' yo' nightmares." He said, seeing her smiled as she kissed him.
"When ah get back, ah'm lockin' that dang door." She said, winking at him as she got out of bed and got dressed before heading out to get Leila some water.
Gambit jerked awake when his alarm went off and he quickly dismissed it before rolling back over and hugging Rogue. She didn't move and was still out from their long night. Kissing her forehead, he climbed out of bed and head into the bathroom for a quick shower before he got dressed in a pair of sweats and a black shirt before he head down stairs. After making a pot of coffee, he head down to the culinary wing and booted up his lap top. Putting on some New Orleans jazz, he walked into the large pantry and started to arrange everything and taking inventory. Some things he had just got, had gone missing. Surprise, surprise.
"I'ma hafta rig up a camera." He said to himself as he looked around for clues. "Or lock dis fuckin' t'ing."
Heading back into the class room, Gambit took a seat as his desk and hooked his laptop up to the printer. Opening a certain file, he started to make copies of an outline for Monday's first class. Tapping his hands on his thighs to the beat of the music, he saw someone enter the room out of the corner of his eye. Looking to the right, he saw Leila walking in slowly, rubbing her eyes and holding Freddy.
"Wha' y' doin' up?" He asked, holding his right hand out for her.
Walking over, Leila climbed up in his lap and cuddled into his chest blinking slowly. "I'm hungry." She said, hugging Freddy. "It's cold."
He let out a light chuckle as he hugged her, rubbing her arms lightly. "Gotta print a few t'ings b' fo' I make y' somet'in' t' eat." He said, kissing the top of her head.
"But I'm hungry." Leila said, her voice a little whiny.
"Here." Gambit said, standing and taking her into the pantry where he opened a box of graham crackers and handed her one. "Y' snack on dat and den when I'm finished, we head out fo' breakfast. D'accord?"
"Okay." Leila said, taking the cracker as he walked back over and sat down in the chair. "How much longer?"
Turning the music down, he kissed the side of Leila's head as he continued to print the outline for the classes. "A few minutes." He said, stroking her hair as she munched on the graham cracker, leaning against his chest. "Won' be long."
"I sought I heard voices and music." Kurt said as he walked into the room.
"Hi, Uncle Kurt." Leila said with a smile, still cuddled into Gambit's chest.
"Goot morning." He said walking over and kneeling down beside them. "Vut have you been up to? I have not see you for a few days."
"Nothing." Leila said, looking at him as she took another bite of the graham cracker.
Gambit chuckled as he kissed the top of her head. "She have a big day swimmin' and playin' tag yesterday." He said. "She wore out."
"I can imagine." Nightcrawler said as he placed his hand on her knee. "Perhaps later vee can play some more tag ven you are all rested."
"Okay." Leila said, yawning.
"An' y' can tell her some more stories." Gambit said with a smile.
"I hope you do not mind zat I tell her zose stories." He said, looking at Gambit.
He shook his head. "Nah, don' mind, mon ami. Rat'er her hear 'bout good t'ings dan wha' be goin' on in de real world." He said, kissing the top of her head again. "Wish I could keep all dat bad stuff away from her fo'ever."
"Vee all vish zat for ze little vuns." Kurt said, placing his hand on Leila's head. "But, zey must grow up and face ze vorld for zemselves. Vee can only teach zem vut is right and vrong. Be ze example ze vorld needs."
"Y' make it sound so parfait." Gambit said. "If only it were dat simple."
"Enough sadness." Kurt said, standing. "I vill come find you ven you are awake and have a full stomach. Zen, vee vill play, alvight?"
"Okay." Leila said, watching her uncle wave at her before he left the room.
"Few mo' pages den we eat." Gambit said, patting her thigh. "How 'bout y' go an' wake mommy, eh? Tell her we goin' t' Angie's fo' breakfast."
Without saying a word, Leila hopped off her dad's lap and left the room, Freddy in tow. He smiled as he turned the music back up and watched as the papers printed.
Rogue opened her eyes to see Leila looking down at her with Freddy in her arms. Taking in a breath, she sat up, keeping the covers up over her chest as she ran her fingers through her hair.
"Daddy told me to come wake you up so we can go to Angie's." Leila said, quietly.
Yawning, she took her phone and looked at the time. "Good lord." She said, looking at Leila. "Go tell daddy ah need a few more minutes."
"But I'm hungry." Leila said, a little whine in her tone.
"Then ya can go with daddy ta Angie's." Rogue said, lying back down.
"But I want you to come, too." Leila said quietly, hugging Freddy.
Letting out a frustrated sigh, Rogue sat up again. "Alright. Ah'm comin'. Ah'll meet ya downstairs." She said.
"Me and daddy are in his office." Leila said with a smile as she hopped off the bed and ran out the door, closing it behind her.
"Barely six." Rogue moaned as she got out of bed and got dressed, heading into the bathroom and trying to get some volume in her hair before she decided to put it up in a bun.
Heading downstairs, she heard the faint sound of Gambit's music. She smiled, hearing the trumpet wail away up and down the scale as the drums kept the fast pace, uplifting beat. Making her way down the hall to the culinary wing, the music got louder until she finally walked into the room to see Leila sitting in Gambit's lap facing him.
She smiled, as they looked her way. "Ya ain't goin' like that are ya?" Rogue asked, pointing at Leila's night gown.
"Why not?" Gambit asked. "She dressed. Ain' nobody else gonna be dere, anyway."
"Ain't that tha truth." Rogue said, yawning again. "Oh goodness! Excuse me!"
"Mommy's tired." Leila said, looking up at Gambit.
He gave Rogue a half grin. "Yeah, I know she is." He said, standing and closing his laptop.
"Just remember her powers mister." Rogue winked as she took Leila from him and hugged her. "Did ya sleep well, hun?"
"Uh huh." Leila nodded as they head out of the room and into the hallway, making their way to the garage.
Taking Gambit's hand, Rogue smiled at him. "Why are ya up so early?" She asked as they walked across the mansion and into the garage.
"Wanted t' get all dis done so I have a long weekend t' spend wit' y'all." He said, grabbing the keys and opened the garage door.
Getting into the car, they headed out and toward the family owned restaurant. "We've gotta go shopping for some new clothes for ya, sugah." Rogue said with a smile, looking at Leila through the visor mirror.
"Why?" Leila asked, looking at her mom through the mirror.
"Ya don't want any new clothes for school?" She asked.
"Yeah." She said, looking out the window. "I want giraffe shirts."
Rogue chuckled. "Ah don't doubt it." She said, looking at Gambit to see him smiling.
They were all quiet for a bit before Leila broke the silence. "Mommy?" She asked.
"Yeah?" Rogue answered.
"Why do I see in people's heads?" Leila asked.
Rogue smiled as she turned around as best as she could in the passenger seat. "Well, both ya daddy and me have powers, so ya got that gene inside ya that makes ya special." She tried to explain.
"What's a gene?" Leila asked. "Like Aunt Jean?"
"No." Rogue shook her head, still smiling as she thought of what to say. "A gene is what's inside ya. It makes up who ya are. Does that make sense?"
Leila's confused look confirmed that it didn't. "Like bones?" She asked, causing them to chuckle.
"Sorta, yeah." Rogue said, reaching back and patting her knee. "It's complicated, ah know. Just know that it's in ya blood ta be a mutant."
"A'right, enough talkin'. We're here." Gambit said as he pulled the car into the parking lot.
Getting out of the car, they head inside and were greeted by Angie with a big smile and a hug for each of them. "Good morning to the most beautiful family in town." She said, kneeling down and hugging Leila. "Looks like you just woke up, sweetie."
"We all did." Rogue said, gently elbowing Gambit in the stomach. "Except this guy."
"Well, come on in. Your usual spot is all set up and waiting for you." Angie said, leading them to their table. "Should I even give you menus?"
"We'll take tha kids menu. She likes ta change it up. Don't ya, baby?" Rogue asked, seeing Leila take the crayons and start to color. "Let's pick out what ya wanna eat and then ya can color. Alright, honey?"
"Espresso?" Angie asked Gambit.
Leaning back in the chair, he crossed his arms. "An' a orange juice." He said.
"Alright." Angie said, looking at Rogue. "And you, Anna? Grapefruit juice?"
"Yeah, that sounds good. Thanks." Rogue said, looking at Leila. "Alright, sugah pop. What do ya wanna drink? Orange juice, apple juice, white or chocolate milk-"
"Chocolate milk!" She said excitedly.
Angie looked at Gambit and Rogue. "Alright." She said, heading back into the kitchen.
"Baby, ya need ta keep ya voice down. We ain't at home." Rogue said, patting her head.
"Ain' nobody here." Gambit said, scooting his chair over and watching Leila color. "Can I color wit' you?"
"Sure." She said, handing him the red crayon. "You color the puppy."
"Got it." He said, starting to color the puppy's head.
Rogue smiled as she watched them color before Angie returned with their drinks. "Alright, are you all ready to order?" She asked.
"Where's ya daughter? She take today off?" Rogue asked, setting Leila's chocolate milk in front of her.
Leila looked up at Angie and into her eyes. "She's sick." She said.
Gambit and Rogue looked up at Angie. "H-how did she know?" Angie asked, trying to keep her emotions in check.
"Her mutant powers have started ta developed. She can see what people are thinkin'." Rogue said, placing her hand on Leila's head before she looked up at Angie. "Is everything alright?"
Angie forced a smile. "Cancer." She said.
"Oh, hun. Ah'm so sorry." Rogue said, taking Angie's hand.
"She just found out this week. After you came in." Angie said. "But we're hoping they caught it in the early stages. They're setting up further tests to run this week and next."
"Y' need anyt'in', y' call me." Gambit said. "Y' got my number, still?"
Angie nodded. "Thank you." She said, letting out a sigh. "These things happen."
"Keep ya head up, sugah." Rogue said with a smile, giving her hand a squeeze. "Everything will work out."
"Thanks." Angie said as she took her shirt sleeves and wiped her eyes. "Goodness. Alright, what are you guys eating this morning?"
"Ah can't believe her daughter has cancer." Rogue said, turning the shower off and opening the curtain before grabbing her towel and wrapping it around her after drying off.
Gambit shrugged. "Dat's how it is." He said, glancing her way and watching her. "Gets t'ose y' don' expect."
"It gets all tha nice people and then we're left with tha jerks that torment us." Rogue said walking behind him, placing her hand on his upper back, as she head down the hall and into their bedroom.
Sighing, she walked over to her dresser and opened the top drawer, seeing Gambit walk into the bedroom out of the corner of her eye. Grabbing her undergarments and then her outfit for the day, she got dressed before she dried her hair as best as she could with the towel before turning around and smiling at Gambit, who sat on the end of the bed.
"What were ya workin' on, this morning?" Rogue asked as she put her wet hair up in a bun.
"Outline fo' Monday." He said, holding his hand out for her to take.
She took it and walked up, standing between his knees. "Ya get more and more organized each year." She said, taking his other hand and intertwining their fingers. "Looks like ya a responsible teacher, now."
He smiled and pulled her closer. "Don' know 'bout dat." He said, kissing her jaw. "Gonna meet Leila's teacher dis evenin'. Havin' a staff meetin'."
"Tell me what she's like. Ah haven't gotten ta talk ta her yet." Rogue said, taking a seat on his right thigh.
"I will." He said, looking over her face. "Y' look beautiful."
Rogue winked at him before she get him a quick kiss. "Ya ain't gettin' anything. Wore me out yesterday." She said, making him chuckle.
"Why y' gotta assume I want somet'in'." He asked, taking her hand and kissing it. "Jus' wanna compliment yo' beauty. Dat a crime?"
She smiled at him. "Nope." She said, combing her fingers through his hair as their bedroom door burst open, causing them both to jump.
"Sam's bar burnt down." Logan said, pointing his thumb over his shoulder.
Gambit and Rogue stood immediately. "What?" Rogue asked. "Is he alright?"
"I don't know. Saw it in the paper just now." He said. "I'm heading that way, thought I'd invite ya."
Gambit kissed Rogue's cheek before he head out the door. After getting into Wolverine's jeep, they head to the bar where the police tape blocked off the foundation. They saw Sam standing out in the parking lot with his hands in his pockets as they pulled in.
Turning, Sam looked at them and gave a weary smile. "Hey guys. We're closed today for remodeling." He said, trying to make light of the situation.
"Are you alright?" Logan asked as they walked up to him.
"Yeah, I'm fine." Sam said, shrugging. "Don't have a place to live, but I'm alive."
"Wha' y' mean?" Gambit asked.
Sam jutted his jaw toward the charcoaled bar. "Whoever did this, did this to my house also." He said. "Hate crime. Whether it be because I'm gay or because my sister is a mutant."
"It's because of your mutant ties." Logan huffed. "Certain groups have been going after mutant friendly businesses for years. They finally found you."
"Y' know who coulda done dis, homme?" Gambit asked, looking at Sam and seeing him shrug.
"The only people that know about my sister are you guys and Cole, but he wouldn't do this or have anything do to with it. He liked hanging around my sister when we would go and visit them for the holidays." Sam said, looking at the smoldering ashes and the smoke that gently seeped from the rubble. "I don't disclose information that she's a mutant to normal people for this very reason."
"Anyt'in' we can do?" Gambit asked placing his hand on Sam's shoulder.
He sighed. "You guys know of a cheap motel?" He asked.
"Screw that." Logan said. "There's extra rooms at our place."
Sam looked at Logan. "I don't wanna intrude. I'm not even a mutant." He said, looking at Gambit.
"Eh, yo' sister is. Close enough, no?" He smirked.
Smiling back at him, Sam looked at Logan. "Do you have some clothes I could borrow?" He asked.
Wolverine chuckled. "We'll see what we can do. Come on." He said, patting Sam's back. "You follow us home."
