Chapter 10- Comeback

"I'm sorry. You're doing what?"

"Bieber."

"As in...Justin?"

"Who else?"

Kurt gaped, folding his arms tightly. "But he sucks."

Sam flicked his head backward quickly, his Bieber hairstyle returning to its assigned place.

Kurt pouted adorably.

"Justin Bieber does not suck. He's the new voice for the generation of young tweens clamouring to be heard."

"You just said the word 'tweens' with no traces of irony. I think this calls for an intervention."

"I'm serious, Kurt, the kid is a talent and he's bringing in this new social media empire with aplomb."

"Aplomb?"

Sam smirked. "Learned from a Harry Potter video game. Thought it would impress you."

Kurt kissed his cheek quickly. "Colour me impressed. But I swear if you so much as strum that guitar with your hair like that and your song choice like that, I'm going to chop off those beautiful hands and keep them in a jar."

Sam kissed his lips and chuckled, tossing his hair back and throwing up his hood. "Oops."

Kurt sighed as the boy walked away. No matter his frustration towards the annoying nasal pop singer, he had to admit that he couldn't deny Sam Evans anything.

Kurt sat in Glee Club, folding his arms, waiting for the inevitable that he hoped just wouldn't arrive.

And then Sam walked in, much as he had walked away. His hair was swept to the side and his guitar was strapped to his back. Kurt couldn't deny that his boyfriend was the most attractive person on the planet, so the discordance between him singing a song by an ugly ferret while looking like a Greek God was certainly going to throw him off.

Tina leaned over to him. "What is he doing?"

Kurt rolled his eyes. "I didn't encourage this. I for one am just hoping this is all a huge nightmare."

Sam's voice interrupted them. "So, when Mr. Schuester told us that we needed an anthem for Sectionals, I thought about today's musical climate and what made an anthem really take off. Figuring that I wasn't going to be allowed to perform a country number at Regionals, I thought about who had made a recent impact. Who else came to mind other than Justin Bieber?"

Finn scoffed and Puck stifled a harsh laugh.

"You can laugh," Sam shrugged, "you can make fun, but come back to me when you've sold as many records as Justin Bieber at the age of seventeen."

They stopped laughing.

"Now, when I told my very embarrassed boyfriend about this, he wasn't on board. But I hope that I can change his mind with this song. As always, this is for you, Kurt."

"You know you love me, you know you care," Sam began, strumming his guitar. Kurt paid extra attention to the hands he said he was going to cut off. But once he heard Sam singing, looking him directly in the eyes, he was immediately on board.

Sam continued the song, handing his guitar to the band as the beat kicked in. He danced around the room, performing some admittedly impressive street dance moves that Kurt was flustered by.

Sam dipped low, performing a spin and rising to his full height again and Kurt had to focus on his breathing, making it even and steady once again. Santana looked at him knowingly. Tina decided to fan him.

By the end of the performance, the entire Glee Club sans Finn were dancing in their seats. Brittany had gotten up to provide Sam with some backup moves.

Kurt laughed at Sam pointing at him after doing some very corny dance movies.

"Thought you'd always be mine, I'm gone," Sam concluded, the entire Glee Club applauded rapturously. Kurt stood up and met Sam halfway.

"I recant my earlier threat. You get to keep your hands."

Sam leaned into him and whispered, "I'm very glad, because I have some big plans for what these hands are going to get up to later."

Kurt shuddered, whether because of the close proximity to his boyfriend or from what his words entailed, he wasn't sure. But he was all too aware of the impact that Sam Evans had on him, even after all this time. "I love that you're not afraid to go against public opinion if it's what you believe in. That's real courage, Sam."

Sam wrinkled his nose. "I hate that word."

Kurt smirked. "Me too."
