I hope you guys enjoyed the last chapter! I feel bad for killing L but it had to happen. I want to thank everyone for the reviews I've been getting. I'm glad you like my story. Getting reviews lets me know what you guys think: do you love it, hate it, etc. Anyway enough of me rambling, here's the next chapter, enjoy!

As the others finally arrived at the scene, Light was already prepared for their gasps of horror. They all stood surrounding the dead detective.

"I got to be honest, I am glad he's dead, I just wish I could have done the good deed myself." B said. Everyone gave B a dark look: all except Mello. He had absolutely no problem putting his feelings into words.

"Will you shut the hell up? No one cares what you think!"

"Perhaps not," B said calmly. "But that doesn't mean I can't voice my opinion.

Mello was ready with a retort when Matt pulled him away. "We should probably move him, Mello. You can argue with him later." He said quietly.

Mello silently nodded and him and Light moved L. It occurred to no one to check if L was in fact really dead. After all, it wasn't necessary. It hadn't been for some time now. When L was placed in his room, the remaining guests gathered in the living room to discuss where they all had been.

"I went to offer L my assistance. He had refused and I went to speak to Ginny. I later decided to give it another shot. Of course I never got that chance seeing how he wasn't there. Ginny and I searched for him and…" Light didn't need to finish: everyone already knew how it ended.

"I did the same thing." Mello said. "He seemed pretty annoyed but I can understand that. I went back to my room. Matt was there with me."

"Well isn't that lovely. Both Mello and Light managed to give someone an alibi. I guess it's just you and me now, eh Sky?"

"It couldn't have been her. I was talking with her before I talked to Light." Ginny said. "Both of us would have seen her leave." Ginny looked around but found no suspicion in anyone's eyes. Satisfied, she began to relax.

"Looks like it's just you then, huh?" Sky said.

"Don't you feel cocky now that you have an alibi Sky?"

"No. But if anyone's suspicious, it's you. You have no alibi and you hated L. How more suspicious can you get?"

"Will you guys quit arguing? It's getting us nowhere."

"You're probably right. Thank you for restoring order, Matt." B said, smiling.

They all sat in silence for a while. Perhaps there was nothing to say. Dead bodies kept turning up and they were nowhere close to leaving the island. It had been four days that they've been stuck. The situation seemed grim and didn't look like it would brighten. There was still one undisputable fact that kept many of them from sleep. It was the one thing that made their whole situation unbearable.

One of us…

"Mello are you sure you're all right?" Sky asked.

"I'm fine."

Everyone had retired to their rooms. Sky and Ginny joined Mello and Matt in their room. Mello's attitude seemed very distant. He was unusually quiet, perhaps going over an idea in his head. This was proven when Mello opened a drawer and revealed two revolvers.

"What are those for?" Sky asked.

"Will you keep your voice down? Besides what do you think they're for?"

"Why two?" Ginny put in.

"One for me and one for Matt."

Mello handed Matt the weapon. Matt took it with uncertainty. "I don't plan on dying here, and I don't want any of you to die either. These are going to protect all of us."

They all looked at him with doubt. "Look, do you want to end up like everyone else? I don't think so."

"It's not that Mello," Matt explained. "It's just, are you sure this will help? I mean what if they find our weapon and use it against us? Or if they try to get us and we don't have it with us?"

"Quit making things up. That's not going to happen." He was silent for a moment and spoke again in a hushed voice. "I'm going to find this killer and get off this island. If he tries to kill me then I'll defend myself."

"Well you'll need help with that." Matt said placing a hand on Mello's shoulder.

"No. I'm doing this on my own Matt."

"What? Why?"

"It's too risky. I'm better off solving it myself."

"Really because you were up to working with L, so what's different now?" Matt asked, his temper rising.

"The difference is I realize why he wanted to work alone."

"I'm your best friend. Besides look at where working alone got L? If someone helped him, that mightn't have happened! He's the one who decided to walk outside all by himself!"

"You think he's stupid?"

"Well Mello, Matt is kind of right." Sky said carefully.

"Oh come on, I thought you of all people would agree with me! Do you think he'd go outside all by himself waiting to be killed? Don't you get it, he had a plan!"

Frustrated he left the room but not before he placed his revolver in the drawer and locked it. Ginny and Sky followed him. Matt seemed a bit down and stayed in the room.

"Mello…" Sky started.

"Don't bother Sky."

"But shouldn't you at least…hey Ginny where are you going?"

"I'm going to my room." She said quietly. With that she disappeared in her room.

"I'm doing this to protect you guys." Mello said as they both walked downstairs.

"What about Light and B?"

"I could care less what happens to them."

"Don't you want to stop the killer though?"

"I'm not discussing this now"

"Fine, but you will later when I ask you again."

Meanwhile Light was pacing back in forth in his room. Now that L was dead the deal was off. He would have to find another way to persuade him. That wasn't going to be easy. The shinigami wasn't easy too bargain with, especially when he assured him his plan would work. Unsure of what to do, Light sat down in a chair by the window. He thought about it, and opened the window. Perhaps the fresh air would help.

He sat down thinking of a new plan. He could hear noises outside but knew it was probably a bird outside his window. He quickly glanced behind him and saw something that looked like bird feathers. Satisfied he turned around. It wasn't until later that he felt something pricking at his neck. It started out soft but began to hurt.

That's odd, he thought. It feels like a stinger, but I didn't see any bees or wasps.

A few minutes later the door to Light's room opened.

Downstairs, both Mello and Sky heard a high pitched scream.
