Up in the stands, enemy ninja revealed themselves, striking out at the nearby Leaf ninja. Seeing this, Adam took flight in his Yveltal form, returning to the stands. There, Pichu was asleep in Ben's arms, and Hoopa was missing. Adam got their attention, "There's an attack on the village." Charlotte gasped; Ben held in his fear a little better. "I was hoping Hoopa was here; you two could have escaped this with her."
"What about you?" Charlotte asked.
"I can handle myself," Adam declared. "But now, I have to protect you two."
"Who said we needed help?" Ben activated his Ranger Styler. Drawing a sign, Latios appeared, and Ben mounted him.
"We can fight..." Charlotte didn't sound so sure of herself, but pulled out a couple Pokeballs. Releasing them, Garchomp and Lucario appeared, ready to fight.
"What about Pichu?" Adam asked.
Ben thought for a minute, then grabbed Pichu's Ukulele. Slowly, he started to pull, removing it from his back. It took a couple moments, but Pichu noticed. At first squirming and grabbing in his sleep, Pichu struggled. Then Ben yanked the prized instrument from his grasp. With a gasp, Pichu angrily awoke. "Sorry Pichu!" Ben returned it, "Sleep Powder."
"Pi pi pichu chu pi!" Pichu exclaimed.
"It was either that, or Makuhita..." Ben countered.
"Piiiii," Pichu seemed to remember pain on its cheek, and rubbed it.
"All awake, and ready to defend Konoha!" Ben announced.
"... Fine..." Adam consented, before noticing a presence. "Look out!" He charged past Latios, who got out of the way, and headed for an approaching enemy ninja. Lucario joined him to defend his trainer, while Garchomp took a more defensive position. Based on the foe's headband, he was from the Sand village, like Gaara.
Said ninja was wielding a sword. Both Adam and the ninja raised an arm, preparing to swing. However, unrestricted by distance, Adam swung first, creating an Air Slash. Seeing the attack, the foe coated his sword in green energy and swung, his sword creating its own wind. The attacks clashed and cancelled each other out.
Still moving, Adam switched Burst Hearts, temporarily blinding his opponent. Again, he returned to Aegislash form, and was closing in. As the ninja struck, Adam blocked it with his shield. His foe caught, Lucario struck, his palm covered in yellow light. As he lifted his paw, electric sparks danced all over the foe's body. But not taking a chance, Lucario used Force Palm again, insuring the ninja stayed down.
As Adam took the foe's sword and scabbard, he turned back to his companions. Charlotte almost looked scared. "Are you sure you want to fight?" Adam asked her, buckling the scabbard around his ethereal waist.
Ben looked at it. "You already have a sword..." Meanwhile, Charlotte released Talonflame and mounted him.
"Only in Aegislash form," Adam reminded him. "Besides, this one was able to use the elements the ninja pushed through it. That may come in handy." He then noticed a couple kunai-wielding enemy approaching. Switching back to Yveltal, he brought all three extra appendages together, compressing the air between them. Once he reached his limit, he released the compressed air as a strong blast, knocking away thrown kunai and their leaping throwers.
Together, Ben, Adam, and Charlotte took to the air. Ben quickly pulled out his Capture Styler, summoning Entei, Raikou, and Suicune. "Protect the people from the enemy ninja!" Ben called out.
"The ones with leaf symbols are allies!" Adam amended.
The three dogs understood their purpose, and charged into battle after Lucario. Their arrival caused quite a stir among the ninja. Whey they prepared their signature attacks, everyone was quick to get out of the stands and onto the field. To insure they cleared away from possible civilian casualties, the three dogs attacked, sweeping the stands while avoiding every sleeping person. The fighting resumed on the field. With no civilians to worry about, the Leaf ninja felt less restricted, and started using more powerful techniques.
Ben noticed the barrier over the Kage building. "What's that?" he asked. Latios got him closer, and he saw some masked ninjas trying to get through. "What's going on?"
"Orochimaru has the Hokage trapped in there!" the leader informed him. "We can't get through, unless we want to burn to death."
"Where's Hoopa when you need her?" Ben muttered. "Suicune!" With a bound, Suicune joined them. "Can you blast us an opening?"
Suicune first tried an Ice Beam. However, that pinpoint attack didn't do much. It then switched to Blizzard. While more powerful, the spread didn't improve the penetration. With a final attack, Suicune tried Hydro Pump. At first, it seemed effective, but the barriers still held, not completely letting the blast through. There was no chance a ninja could squeeze through with the attack. Suicune then turned back to the brawl on the ground. "Sorry guys," Ben said.
Another ninja rushed in. "Sir, the west wall was destroyed by three large serpents. Enemies are entering the city through the gap, and we're falling back!"
The masked ninja thought for a bit, then turned to Ben. "Can your team handle them?"
"I'll ask Adam," Ben flew back into battle.
Adam was using the sword while in Yveltal form, dive bombing random ninjas while enhancing the sword with Dark, Flying, and Ghost-type powers. After Ben relayed the info, Adam grinned. "Finally, a challenge. Charlotte!"
Charlotte flew in. "Yes?"
"Recall your Pokemon, we've got serpents to fry at the city's edge!"
Lucario was currently fighting alongside Naruto's and Lee's instructors, using Dragon Dance to out-speed his enemies and keep up with both his chosen companions/rivals. However, at the call of his master, Lucario returned to his Pokeball. Garchomp took a bit extra time. Rather than fight head on, he was using Dig to scour the battlefield. Popping up at random, he would attack, deflect incoming attacks with his winglike arms, then return to the depths to strike elsewhere, jaws first. However, he too heard Charlotte's call and returned. With the Legendary Dogs in tow, the trio made their way to the city's limits, a couple miles away.
There, three serpents larger than skyscrapers are tall were cutting their way through Leaf ninja like a hot knife through butter. "Those are HUGE!" Ben was stunned.
"Then let's use our stronger techniques," Adam declared, sheathing the sword. Concentrating, he created another Hurricane. However, with serpentine speed, they avoided the blast.
"They dodged!" Charlotte cried out.
"We're going to need Legendary Pokemon to take them on..." Adam realized. "Fast, powerful, and preferably able to fly... Ben!"
"Yes Adam?" Ben responded.
"Your Latios might help," Adam informed him. "But we need more firepower than the Legendary Dogs. Summon the Birds, lead them, and ride one of them. I'm going to need Latios."
"On it!" Ben backed away from the fight.
"Charlotte!" A snake saw them and struck. Pulling out the sword, he channeled a Sucker Punch into it, and intercepted it. Slashing downwards, he knocked it off course from Charlotte and Talonflame. "Get to the ground and lead the Dogs. We want to hit these snakes high and low, weaken them, then drag them out of the city."
"Ok," Charlotte went low and relayed the orders.
Ben soon returned, riding Articuno. "You take those three and hit them from all around. We want to wear them out, then finish them outside the city. Latios, we're going to keep them occupied. Follow my lead!"
As they charged, the ninjas looked on in wonder, both sides standing in marvel of the spectacle for a moment before resuming their fight. From the ground, Charlotte was riding low on Talonflame, leading the dogs to strike at the snakes' exposed underbellies. Fire, Ice, and Lighting blasts crawled along the serpents, causing an itch that was getting worse. The three birds were doing a better job with Ben's guidance, but neither team was making a noticeable difference. But Adam and Latios were making the more apparent damage. Slashing the sword and using purple dragon-shaped blasts, they were weaving between the snakes, staying close to their heads. Whenever one of the snakes turned towards an elemental attacker, Adam or Latios cut it off, redirecting its attention with a well-placed attack.
After a couple minutes, the snakes began to slow down. The electrical pulses, as well as element exposure, was getting to them. Soon, they were almost at a standstill. Adam then called out, "Ben, bring your team over here!" As they arrived, Adam barked out new commands. "Latios, blind them. We four will hit it with as much wind as we can. We need to knock them out of the city!"
Latios flew in towards the snakes, then released a dense orb of light. That light attracted the snakes' attention. Once it was close, the orb flared up, blinding the serpents. It was then that Adam's group made their move. Flapping their wings and creating huge blasts of air, the serpents were buffeted backwards, slowly sliding their way out of the city walls.
"Let's close the gap!" Charlotte called as they were kicked out. Articuno and Suicune answered her, using freezing beams to patch the hole with ice. From outside, the snakes turned back to the wall, hissing their anger at the Pokemon, who roared and screeched in reply. Resigning itself, the serpents returned themselves back to their summon realm, vanishing from Konoha.
"All right!" Ben cheered, Pichu strumming a victory tune. Descending to the wall, Ben turned to the birds. "Can you help protect this town from invading ninjas?" With separate cries, the trio scattered across the town.
"Interesting..." From the wall, a lone masked figure stood. "A marvelous gadget, for an average boy."
Adam and Charlotte noticed, and descended to join their companion. Deciding to give Yveltal a rest, Adam switched to Aegislash. "Which side are you on?"
"... My loyalties lie with Orochimaru."
"That's the guy that gave Sasuke the Curse Mark!" Charlotte identified.
"He's fighting this village's leader right now!" Ben recalled.
"He's an enemy," Adam got in a battle-ready stance.
"Indeed," the masked man remained still. "And we have taken an interest in you three."
"Because of our partners," Adam confirmed.
"Indeed. But out of you three, we were most intrigued by you," he pointed.
"M-me?" Ben stuttered.
"These two can summon only a few creatures you call Pokemon," he reminded them. "But you, you can summon many, for no price."
"So you see it as a simple piece of tech," Adam understood, "and think you can replicate it."
"All we need is the prototype."
"It's more than that," Ben countered. "It creates an emotional bond between you and Pokemon. If your emotions aren't pure, your intent good, they won't join you."
"A minor glitch," he insisted, "nothing we can't figure out."
"Talonflame, get Ben and Charlotte into the air, now!" Adam barked out, charging forward. "Charlotte, watch this fight. Once you understand the enemy, help me out with your Pokemon."
As his partners got out of range, Adam swung for his foe. Said enemy leaned back, avoiding the swipe, while pulling out several kunai. Wielding one to clash with the sword, he threw the others. However, as a steel and a ghost-type, the fighting move using steel kunai didn't damage him very much, nicking the shield and passing through the ethereal body. Seeing this effect, the masked ninja grew wary.
For almost a minute, Adam and his foe exchanged blows. Frustrated, Adam yelled, "Is that all you got?"
The masked person then raised his palms, dropping his kunai. His hands began to glow. "How about this?" With increased speed, he began to strike, using his hands like blades. At first, Adam caught him with the move King's Shield, since he thought it only applied to the shield Adam was wielding. However, the protective field extended to all over Adam, reverberating up his arm. With his physical abilities hindered, Adam had a bit better time keeping up with his foe, but not by much.
"Any time now Charlotte!" Adam called out, feeling pressured and defensive.
"I think... I got it! Go Lucario! Double Team and Force Palm!" Charlotte cried out, releasing her partner. With a growl, he began to multiply, his copies partially physcial. Each one then made their palms glow and began an intricate dance. Weaving at mid range, their pattern indiscernible, three at a time would be leaping out to strike, each covering the other's tracks.
With the new ally, Adam got a breather. The foe, however, was skillful enough to dodge each strike. However, even he had trouble countering and striking out against the Lucario. So instead, he focused. It took some time, but he figured out that one Lucario stood out. While the others would weave in sync, one was a couple milliseconds ahead of the rest. His target confirmed, he evaded a strike and sped towards the original, palms aglow.
Lucario was surprised he was identified, but didn't falter. He raised his palm to clash with his foe's. With an angry high five, the two pushed for dominance, then fell back. Lucario clutched his hand, his muscles hurt. The masked man also wasn't unscratched, as electric jolts occasionally dancing along his arm.
Seeing the opening, Adam charged back in, swinging his element sword while in Aegislash mode. As the opponent tried to dodge, his arm would sometimes flinch. Realizing he was at a disadvantage, he jumped away. "Another time, perhaps. But for now, we need our hidden ace." Raising his hands to a sign, he vanished.
Talonflame descended, a bit tired from carrying Ben and Charlotte. Charlotte quickly released Gogoat, who used Milk Drink to let Lucario recover. "So..." Ben paused. "Is it over?"
"The invasion is still underway," Adam reminded him. "Bring back the Legendary Dogs. We're going to help take out the forces as they retreat here."
Sure enough, many Sand and Sound ninja were falling back to the wall. However, their hopes sank when they saw it patched with ice, and Team Pokemon blocking their path. From within the ranks, they caught several exclamations. "How!?" "We're trapped!" "Where's Gaara? He's supposed to be here by now!"
"Gaara?" Adam caught on.
"He must be that hidden ace!" Charlotte realized.
"I took him out," Ben remembered.
"So he may be coming from the hospital!" Adam switched to Yveltal, rising into the air. "Ben, Charlotte. Hold these ninjas off. Don't let a single one escape! I'm going to make sure Gaara doesn't join this fight!" With a burst of speed, Adam took off, searching for the hospital.
