Yes I'm still alive and no I'm not stopping this story. It's just my get up and go, got up and left and only recently came back. I promise I won't take so long getting the next chapter out.
Violet walked into the Great Hall and took a seat near Hermione on a set of bleachers by the wall once she'd grabbed some breakfast. She was about to ask Hermione if she knew if the heroes had submitted their names when, speaking of the devil, they walked in.
Hermione looked up from her book and all the spectators, except Violet, watched with bated breath as Doctor Fate led the Young Justice team up to the line. One by one they walked through the glowing ankh that had appeared over the line.
"Go home Muggles!" Violet's dormmate yelled.
"You're not wanted here!" a fifth year Slytherin told the heroes.
Violet saw Artemis stiffen and have to stop herself from pulling out her bow. Aqualad interfered before any of his teammates could react. "Actually we are," he said calmly. "Your Headmaster and Ministry invited us."
The young Gotham witch snickered at her housemates' affronted looks and her brother's smirk. As Cedric Diggory put his name in the Goblet, Violet's teammates moved over to the side where they could watch the others entering and Violet suspected that they wanted to scope out potential competition.
Cheering came from the entrance as Fred, George and Lee came running in. violet laughed and rolled her eyes fondly at their antics. "Thank you. Thank you. Well lads we've done it." George said grinning.
"Cooked it up just this morning," Fred said.
"It's not going to work," Hermione said in a sing-songy way.
"Oh yeah?" George asked squatting down next to Hermione with Fred on her other side near Violet. "Why's that Granger?"
"You see this?" she asked gesturing to the Age Line. "This is an Age Line. Dumbledore drew it himself."
"So?" Fred wondered earning himself a flick on the back of the head from Violet. When he turned to look at her she just smiled innocently. He rolled his eyes smiling back.
"So," Hermione replied closing her book and slamming it on her legs. "A genius like Dumbledore couldn't possibly be fooled by something as pathetically dimwitted as an Aging Potion."
"That's why it's so brilliant," George said.
"Because it's so pathetically dimwitted," Fred added. Violet laughed rolling her eyes again. They stood up and after asking if the other was ready, the two twins downed their potions and jumped into the circle. They started cheering and were about to place their names in the Goblet when they were thrown out of the circle.
Fred and George sat up and they and everyone else saw that their hair hand turned white and they'd grown beards as well. The two now white-haired Weasley's started arguing with each other and wrestling. Violet just laughed knowing it was all in good fun, though she could see Wally laughing his ass off at his cousins' misfortune.
The crowd that had gathered to cheer the twins on went silent as the next hopeful champion came in the room. "It's Krum," Lee said.
"Should we break them up then?" Violet asked. "No one's going to pay any attention to them now."
"Might as well," Lee said shrugging. They walked over and pulled one twin off the other.
"You two are a pair of idiots you know that right?" Violet said grinning.
"Ouch Vi that hurts," Fred said placing a hand over his heart like he was mortally wounded.
"I thought you were on our side?" George wondered faking a look of hurt.
"No I was on Hermione's side this time. It was Dumbledore who drew that line. He probably put the beards in the reaction to an underage student just so he could have a laugh." The twins and Lee laughed at that knowing she was probably right.
Over in the heroes' corner Wally had finally calmed down. 'So who do you think tall, silent and brooding was?' he asked over their mental link.
'One of the Durmstrang students but other than that I don't know,' Artemis replied.
'I can find out,' Robin said grinning.
'How may I ask?' Aqualad wondered.
'I'm going to ask the black haired girl who's talking to the twins who were just wrestling,' Robin admitted.
'I don't think that's a good idea Robin,' M'gann said. 'She has the same green tie as those from earlier.' Her mental voice turned sad at that as their comments had really hit hard.
'Ah but I have to disagree with you on that,' Robin said his grin growing when he just got blank stares from the majority of the team. 'She might be a Slytherin but I can give you two good reasons as to why she's a decent person. First of all the three people she is talking and laughing with are Gryffindors despite the fact that the horses of snakes and lions have a serious rivalry. And I know her.'
'You do?' Zatana asked out of curiosity.
'How?' Rocket and Superboy asked.
'She's Violet Grayson one of Bruce Wayne's wards. Violet and her brother Dick are often targets for kidnappings so Bats, Car, and I have often had to rescue them or be bodyguards at major social functions.'
'I go to school with Dick,' Artemis said. 'He's an annoying little troll but has his moments.'
Robin laughed slightly as he left his team to go talk to Violet. He walked up behind her and said, "So this is where you go to school."
The twins and Lee jumped having not expected anyone to walk op to them so silently. Violet turned around to see her brother. "Yes actually," she said coolly. "This is my sixth year here."
"Asterous," Robin said laughing. "It explains why we couldn't find any of your school records online."
"As reassuring as it is to have evidence that you've stalked me, and don't say you haven't, would followed be a better term for you?" Violet said dryly but her eyes were dancing with mirth. "Was there something you wanted to know? I can't recall you ever dropping by just to say hello."
"Yes actually," Robin replied. "First of all I was wondering who that was who made everyone go silent when he walked in."
"Viktor Krum," Violet managed to say before her friends started talking about how Krum was the best seeker in the world and internationally famous.
"Got it," Robin said interrupting them. "I also figured I'd introduce myself to your friends. Hi, I'm Robin."
"Fred Weasley," Fred said mind turning over the fact that the girl he liked knew this young hero so well. He didn't want to know the reasons why.
"George Weasley," George said knowing where his twin's thoughts were going which is why they didn't pull their trick with introductions.
"Jordan, Lee Jordan," Lee said. "So-"
"Yes Angelina!" Violet cheered seeing the Gryffindor chaser put her name in the Goblet.
Angelina smiled and walked over with Alicia. "Robin," Robin introduced himself, a charming smile on his face. Once they'd introduced themselves he looked back at Lee. "What were you going to say Lee?"
"I was going to ask if you knew Violet," Lee said.
"Well everyone from Gotham knows of Batman, Cardinal, and Robin and I wouldn't be surprised if they had files on every citizen of Gotham," Violet said a faint twinkle in her eyes as she knew that although she and her fellow Bat family members didn't have files on every citizen, they were perfectly capable of creating them.
Of course she had an alternative reason behind her vague answer namely not wanting her friends to react the same way Fred and George had at the World Cup. Unfortunately her brother appeared to have other ideas when he responded, "We don't have files on everyone in Gotham. However I do know Violet better than I know most of the other civilians in Gotham."
"Why is that?" Angelina asked partially out of curiosity and partially because she'd seen George tense up slightly and his twin more so.
Violet shot Robin a look that most people wouldn't notice but to a Bat it screamed 'Don't you dare!' Robin ignored her warning though as he said, "Violet's a magnet for trouble and danger. The only reason her brother Dick's ended up in more troublesome situations making it so he has to be rescued is because he lives in Gotham City year round."
Violet was looking decidedly peeved and had an internal debate going on about whether or not to pull a disappearing act. That plan was nixed by the fact that the team was watching and Batman would have her head for giving away her secret identity because of being in a highly uncomfortable situation though in all honesty it was almost pointless now since they were past the point of no return.
"What do you mean?" Lee asked eying Violet's back suspiciously. She was glad they were behind her so they didn't have to turn around to look at her but it didn't stop her from feeling their eyes boring into the back of her head.
"Well besides the usual kidnapping for ransom scenarios," Robin said pretending to think while gauging their reactions. "On the Fourth of July, Gotham's Elite held a great big Independence Day celebration and everyone ages sixteen to twenty was on one yacht, young teens on another and everyone who was allowed to get drunk on a third. That night Penguin and Mr. Freeze decided to team up and hold the older teens hostage since the majority of those on that yacht were the eldest children of the Gothamites. Mr. Freeze froze everyone on board while Penguin threatened the adults into handing over their valuables. We managed to free everyone before the first diamond earring was handed over with no serious injuries for those who were frozen. I should head back to rejoin my team." Robin grinned and waved before rejoining Kid Flash and the others.
'Took you long enough,' Wally said laughing over the link.
'Yeah well they had a couple questions about how I knew Violet since they're her friends,' Robin said seeing his sister's friends pulling her out of the Hall. 'The guy who made everyone go silent was an international Quidditch, popular wizarding sport, star named Viktor Krum.' His phone beeped and he laughed. 'Sorry Cardinal is seriously bored and is wondering what it's like in the world of magic.'
'Not that interesting right now,' Rocket said.
'That's because we haven't seen much of their world,' Zatana said. 'Dumbledore had said that we could sit in on any classes we wanted to in order to help foster new friendships.'
'That'll be fun,' Robin said.
'Still find it hard to believe you lied about not believing in magic,' Superboy said to Kid Flash who shrugged guiltily.
