Chapter 10: Family and Freedom
As the night rolled on, the soft chirping of crickets filled a certain young Fanalis' ears as he sat at the edge of one of the many balconies throughout the Sindrian palace. The wind blew in his red hair as his focused eyes followed the details of a certain object he held in his hands. The platinum blank name tag shinned brightly as the moon's reflection highlighted its rugged features.
"What would you do in a situation like this, big brother?" Jugo asked himself as he caressed the cool metal in-between his fingers.
As Jugo continued to ponder, Masrur walked down the hall in such a silent manner that the young boy didn't even notice him until he was about to pass him by, but stopped with an audible gasp.
"Masrur, is there something wrong?" Jugo asked as he looked up at him with confusion as Masrur's face held a look of shock.
"Where did you get that name tag from?" Masrur asked as he eyed the object as it dangled from Jugo's left hand.
"I got this from my older brother when I was little. He gave it to me on the same day he was taking away to be made a slave. I haven't seen him ever since." Jugo replied as he held the name tag up to let Masrur look at it closer.
"How long have you been looking for me?" Masrur questioned out of the blue.
"Ever since the day they took him away. I chased after them, but…Wait! Did you just say me?" Jugo asked as soon as he caught on to what Masrur had just said.
"Yes, because that name tag belonged to me when I gave up my freedom to save my little brother." Masrur stated as he gave Jugo a small smile as he gawked up at him in astonishment.
"Huh?" Jugo asked as he felt like his body had been turned into Jell-O and darkness surrounded his vision.
~The Next Day~
Tidus walked down the halls of the Sindrian palace with a baffled expression on his face. The air had been sweet ever since he woke up this morning and he had no idea why. As soon as he cut the corner while heading to the training grounds to find Jugo, he sees the young Fanalis sparring with Masrur while Takashi, Serah, Terra, and Sinbad watched attentively. Tidus slowly walked up to the joyous bunch while gapping at them as if they had gone mad.
"What are you staring at, idiot? Did you really think that things would stay all messed up for long?" Terra asked as she placed her hands on her hips and scowled at him.
"How did you manage to," Tidus started off, until Sinbad spoke up.
"After Serah broke Takashi out of his cell, they both came to me last night with an explanation on what had happened. I could tell how much everything had been bothering them because of how late it was when they visited me, so I gave in. Although, that doesn't mean that either of them are out of trouble. They're both forbidden from leaving the palace for any reason, with the exception of an emergency. Plus, they're to be watched constantly just in case one of them gets any ideas." Sinbad stated seriously as he gave Serah a menacing look at his last statement, she only laughed nervously and apologized, he simply patted her on the head softly and went back to his work.
"How long have I been sleeping through all of this?" Tidus asked glumly.
"The whole time." They all said in unison.
"Well that sucks, I stayed up all night thinking for no reason." Tidus responded as he scratched his head and sat down next to Takashi with a huff.
"You stayed up all night thinking?!" Takashi questioned with a snort as everyone else snickered.
"Hey, I may not use my head for anything else, but that's because I don't feel that I need to unless it's serious." Tidus argued seriously.
"So basically, you're saying that you're only good at using your head when you have to swindle yourself out of trouble, but you're terrible at using it for anything else." Serah assumed as she smirked at him.
"I'm not saying anything else." Tidus grumbled as he focused on Jugo and Masrur's movements.
"Which reminds me, what did you guys find in Reim?" Takashi asked.
"I found my older brother, and he's a part of the Fanalis Corps." Tidus said with a wide grin.
"WHAT?!" They all asked in shock.
"Well what's his name? What does he look like?" Terra questioned in excitement.
"Is he smarter than you?" Serah questioned with a snicker.
"I'm going to ignore that last question, but his name is Lo'lo and he looks like any other Fanalis. Although, he's huge and he has a massive battle scar on his face! He's so cool!" Tidus stated as he gave a genuine smile.
"Yep, he's your brother alright." Terra commented dully.
"What's with the lack of enthusiasm?" Tidus asked Terra with a growl.
"Ignore her, we're all very glad that you and Jugo were able to find your loved ones." Serah said as she gave him a hug and Takashi patted him on the back.
"Wait, Jugo never found his older brother while we were in Reim." Tidus informed Serah.
"He was never in Reim." Terra said as she smiled down at Jugo and Masrur as they finally finished sparring.
Tidus finally realized what Terra meant when he looked at the two exchange a few words with a gleeful air surrounding them. He only shook his head and smiled, as the others did the same.
"Today has really been a day." Takashi said with a sigh.
"Yep." The others agreed without another word.
I know this chapter may seem like it had been thrown together, but this is how it came out. Sorry. Either way I'm glad to see everything working out for everyone. Although, the next chapter brings a new problem involving Kouen, I bet you guys can't guess what it is. *snickers evilly*
