Chapter Ten

Pete smirked as he watched the younger man's eyes scan the crowded bar before settling on Georgie and widening. He was pretty sure he'd had the same stunned look of disbelief after returning from the men's room to find her throwing back shots with a group of women who worked at GH. After six shots of what he later learned was tequila, Pete knew his young friend would more than likely need someone to take care of her tonight. And since Maxie wasn't an option, he'd taken the chance and called Logan. According to the conversation they'd manage to have before Sam arrived and started yelling at Georgie, Pete figured the Texan might be the only person able to get a now intoxicated Georgie out of the rundown bar without a scene.

"Wanna tell me why in the hell you let her get so freakin trashed?" Logan angrily demanded after making his way over to the professor now sitting at the bar.

"Uh, hate to burst your bubble, but Georgie does have a mind of her own."

"No shit," he shot back while Coop just blinked as another round was downed at the table they were all watching. Seeing the group ritual was pretty entertaining if not for the fact he worried the nineteen year old was going to be sick when it was all said and done. "Couldn't you convince her drinking might not be the best solution?"

"Hey, I tried. But Georgie's bullheaded when she wants to be. And that trashy bitch didn't help matters. I'd finally got G calmed down when Maxie's slutty friend lit into her. But she'll probably think twice about running her mouth again after G hauled off and punched her."

Logan's head whipped around. "What?"

"G nailed the bitch good." Pete motioned to the table where Georgie sat with Kelly, Lainey, Elizabeth, Emily, and a few nurses the guys didn't know. "That's when Elizabeth insisted G needed a drink to celebrate. It went to hell after that."

Coleman approached the threesome with a grimace. "Marquez, I can't have the underage daughter of the police commissioner drunk in my bar. I don't care if she is sitting with Morgan's lady."

"Stop worrying so much," Cody interrupted as he strolled over with Milo. "I called Jason after Sam got in Georgie's face. He'll take care of any problems that crops up but I seriously doubt if it'll be necessary. No one's gonna say jack about her being here."

Defeated, Coleman shook his head. Arguing with the men working for the mob was useless. He still didn't understand why Morgan would stick his neck out for the Jones girl though. As far as he knew Georgie's only connection to the group was through her friendship with Elizabeth. "Whatever, but do me a favor and get them all out of her soon. The last thing I need is the PCPD sniffing around," he stated while glaring at Coop before sauntering back to the other side of the bar. He wasn't as stupid as people believed. He knew Barrett worked for the police department and had a beef with Hayes right now.

"Well, we should take her home," Coop said aloud.

"Uh, I don't think that's a good idea. The man following Sam said ran straight to Maxie, who is at their house," Milo pointed out. "We could take her with us when Elizabeth calls it a night. There's a guest room at her cottage and I'm sure she won't care if Georgie crashes there." After getting a glimpse of the bruise marring her cheek, Milo suspected dropping her at home would be a big mistake, especially with Sam currently also there.

"Naw. I got her."

Darting a questioning look at Logan and following his line of sight, Milo fought to contain his shock. The gruff, arrogant blond was the last person he'd have guessed to fall for the soft hearted beauty who followed all the rules. They were complete opposites. "I don't think so, Hayes."

"Really? Why's that?"

"Maybe because she's got to hate your guts for the crap you pulled with Lulu and Maxie."

"Go to hell, Milo! And stay the fuck outta my business."

The dark headed Italian shoved away from the bar. "Leave Georgie alone! Haven't you hurt enough of her friends already?"

Pete chuckled. "G was right. I thought she was exaggerating."

"What are you yapping about?" Milo wondered while wishing the cocky man currently glaring at him had never moved to town. He considered Georgie a friend of sorts, and Logan's interest in the young waitress bought out his protective instincts.

"About how people were going to react when it got out they were seeing each other."

Milo's jaw dropped. "Huh? You got to be kidding!"

"Nope. I called Logan to come get G because I couldn't exactly drop her off at her house since Maxie's showing her selfish nature."

Cody covered his snort of amusement by coughing before nodding at the younger Giambetti brother. "Marquez is right, Milo. Jason told me to call Hayes after I talked to him but before I could Hayes here showed up on his own."

"She deserves better than this piece if shit!"

"Not your call," Logan responded cockily.

Cooper stepped between the two men, trying to keep Logan from going off on the other guard. "C'mon, man. Let's just get Georgie out here."

All four men looked over at the table when the women burst into laughter and Kelly stood, draping herself all over some guy who'd stopped to talk to the occupants of the table.

"Where's Georgie's car?" Logan asked. It hadn't been in the parking lot. His attention focused on the woman in question, he noticed the dark splotch on her creamy skin causing his fists to clench in anger.

"My place." Catching the darkening of Logan's eyes, Pete hurriedly explained. "She called upset after the altercation with her sister. When she showed up I suggested a game of pool to help get her minds of things."

"Fine," he stated flatly, not liking the closeness his girl shared with the man. "Coop, will you take her car back to Kelly's. She can get it tomorrow."

"Uh, sure, I guess." Hoping Logan didn't end up punching a still glowering Milo, Cooper nodded before following Pete out of the bar.

Leaning against the bar, watching the women continue to down shots, Logan studied the woman who'd threw his world into chaos but saved him at the same time. Her cheeks carried a light flush, a lopsided grin gracing her lips, and her eyes lit up and shining in the poor lighting had him wishing she wasn't so trashed. She looked incredible and all he could think of was holding her soft body in his arms. It was gonna be pure torture keeping his hands to himself.

The group of women slowly broke up and started heading in different directions. Elizabeth slid the shot glass away from her young friend and giggled. The sight of Georgie hitting Sam was only topped by the normally perfect behaved brunette getting plastered. "You ready to call it a night?"

"I think Pete abandoned me," she pointed out with smirk, her words slurring. "I guess I'll call a cab."

"Not necessary, doll."

"Logan!" Grabbing the edges of his unzipped jacket, Georgie giggled drunkenly before pulling him into the chair beside hers. "Where did you come from?"

Tenderly brushing the hair from her cheek he winked while inwardly growing more pissed off over the small spot of discoloration. "Pete said you might need a way home when he called."

"Nope, not gonna home!" she sang softly. "My bitchy sister and her nasty friend are there."

Elizabeth laughed before standing and trying her best not to sway as the room spun. Waving at Cody to stay at the bar, she looked back over at the amused man listening as Georgie slurred her sentences as she fought against the suggestion of going home. "Can you handle getting her home okay? Or I can take her if you want."

Helping Georgie up, Logan steadied her by wrapping an arm around her small waist when she almost fell. "I got her."

"Yeah, I thought you would. Earlier I called her off for tomorrow since she was scheduled the morning shift. Keep a close eye on her, Logan. She drank a good bit of tequila." Staggering toward the waiting guards Elizabeth couldn't help but grin at seeing the couple together. She'd been concerned after hearing from Jason about them until she got Georgie talking about the man tonight after a few drinks. Now after seeing how Logan looked at her Georgie wished her friend good luck and hoped she didn't let Maxie ruin her chance at happiness.

OoOoOoOoOoOo

"Doll, c'mon. We're almost there, just a bit farther." Trying his best to help an extremely unsteady Georgie into the apartment without having to carry her, Logan tightened his arm around her small waist. The way her body seemed to melt into his wasn't helping matters. In fact Logan wondered if he was being punished for all the crap he'd pulled in the past. An intoxicated Georgie made his blood boil. Too bad he already knew he couldn't act on the building desire.

Pulling away and laughing when the world spun around her, Georgie playfully shuffled out of his reach. "Wow! It's like bein a rollercoaster, Lo!"

Logan unlocked the door before swiftly scooping the giggling brunette up. He kicked the door shut before shaking his head in amusement. This side of his girl definitely surprised him. "Enjoy it now. Cause morning ain't gonna feel so great, girl."

"Hmm." She cuddled into the warmth before sighing. "You should hold me all the time. You feel so good around me."

Logan groaned, his body immediately responded to the huskily murmured statement. He prayed she passed out soon. Otherwise it was going to be a very long night if she kept talking like that. Placing her on the couch and removing both their coats, he sat on the coffee table in front of her. Tenderly cupping her chin, he guided her head up so he could examine her face. "I'm sorry."

Confusion filled her dancing eyes. "Why?"

"You hafta ask?" He brushed his fingertips along the mark her sister inflicted. "I hate you're fightin with Maxie cause of me."

Georgie placed a hand on his thigh. Even with the alcohol floating in her system she felt him jerk at the contact and grinned. "You could make it up to me," she teased mischievously before sliding her hand up.

Eyes widening, he quickly placed his larger hand over hers. Aching to take her up on the offer, he inhaled deeply. "Georgie girl…"

She grasped his shirt and tugged until he leaned closer. Pressing soft kisses along his jawline, she slowly worked her way upward until she nipped the lobe of his ear. Her other hand unexpected rubbed his growing erection. "I wanna feel you, Lo."

He shuddered. The small amount of control he possessed was extremely close to shattering. "Oh God," he raggedly breathed before delving his hands into her hair. Crashing his lips down on hers, Logan sucked on her bottom lip until she sighed, opening her mouth just like he wanted. As his tongue tangled intimately with hers, he slid an arm around her waist, lifting her petite body and maneuvering so she sat on his lap with him now on the couch.

Slipping her hands under the hem of his shirt Georgie moaned at the feel of his muscles tensing when she stroked them lightly.

Abruptly jerking back, Logan hissed in frustration. They couldn't do this! Not tonight. Not with her drunk. "Baby, we need to stop."

A pout immediately appeared on her swollen lips. "You wanna. I can feel how hard you are." Pressing down until he groaned as his eyes fluttered closed, Georgie wiggled her hips provocatively and enjoyed the feel of his hard length. Her stomach clenched with lust. "Oh! Don't you wanna feel how wet you make me, Lo?"

"Darlin', please listen to me," he begged breathlessly even as he felt her warm heat through the barrier of denim separating them. "You're drunk. The last thing I want is for ya to regret being with me. We gotta wait, doll."

Curling closer she licked the outer shell of his ear. The throbbing inside her escalating, she whimpered for the release she knew he could give her. "I know what I want, Lo. And I want you."

The seductive creature currently rubbing against him was going to be the death of him. He was dying to give her exactly what she was asking for, but he couldn't. Not like this. Any other girl besides his girl and Logan would have had them stripped naked and been buried between their thighs in an instant. But not Georgie. The first time they made love would not be because she was drunk. He refused to take advantage of her like that. Using her for a release wasn't an option. For once he wanted more with a girl.

Insecurities roared to the forefront when he failed to act on the invitation. Georgie's eyes dropped as she suddenly attempted to climb from his lap. "Forget it. You don't have to sugarcoat…"

Logan caught her hips and flipped them around so Georgie laid under him, her back on the couch. Grasping her chin, he forced her to look at him. "Girl, you have no freakin clue how bad I do wanna forget you're drunk and give you exactly what you want right now. But I can't, not like this. Trust me, you'd hate yourself tomorrow." Stopping the protest forming on her lips, Logan molded his mouth to hers in a slow kiss filled with all the emotions warring inside him. The restless squirming of her body under his made her need clear. Even if he couldn't get the release he so badly craved, he would give Georgie the pleasure she sought.

Unsnapping her jeans, Logan slipped his fingers under the edge of her lacy panties. Swallowing her moan as he felt the moisture of her arousal as he circled her clit, he took his time bringing Georgie to the edge before sending her over by finally easing his middle finger into her tight sheath. Lifting his head to watch the ecstasy overtake her, he let her body finish convulsing before allowing himself to bury his head in her hair. Damn, watching her come had been unbelievingly hot.

"Oh, oh God, Lo!"

"Feel good, baby?"

"Mmm, so good."

Painfully hard and more aroused than ever before, Logan brushed the hair from her face. Watching as her breathing eventually evened out and her eyelids fluttered before finally closing, he carefully untangled his body from hers. Lifting her and heading toward his bedroom, Logan finally understood what drove people to extreme lengths. He'd do everything in his power to keep Georgie safe and happy.

Lying in the bed, curled around her, he kissed the top of her head. "I love you, doll." He whispered before letting his own eyes drift shut.
