(Chapter 10: Rest, next morning, the concoction)
(Kagome POV)
I felt someone lift me into their arms, strong arms. The voices were mumbled and distant as my ear lightly twitched, trying to hear what they were saying.
"She was awesome tonight, especially since it was her first concert officially. Of course she would be exhausted, Sesshomaru." The voice sounded like InuYasha's. The arms tightened their grip on me slightly.
"Hn, She did. But falling asleep at the bar was unprofessional and she could have been taken." Ouch…that one hurt. Damn Sesshomaru, you don't even care that I'm your mate…
"Sesshomaru, that's harsh. She was exhausted, besides you were right there with her. Even if you weren't there, no one would have approached her due to the barrier that surrounded her." Miroku. That was definitely his voice. I kept my heart beat slow and steady, acting as though I was truly asleep. I felt my head be pressed against something hard and a soft beat came through. A heartbeat… Sesshomaru's heartbeat. It was fluttering, like a bird.
"I'm taking her to bed. You would do well as to take your female to bed as well, she looks as though she will drop any second." Sesshomaru said before I felt him start walking. I felt something warm near my neck and heard sniffing. His face…it's in my neck.
"I'm sorry I let you get so tired, Mate." He whispered as I felt my body on something soft and something warm wrap around me. A bed? Blankets? Pillow? I opened my eyes a bit and sat up as Sess disappeared into the bathroom and the shower turned on. Slowly, I got out of the bed and stripped out of the clothes I wore and picked up a white jersey with the number 8 on it and "Taisho" written on the back. This must be his…it has his scent, Mint and black cherries. I put it on after taking off my bra. It was soft but light. Looking around the room was completely different then what I had expected. The room was painted in black but the majority of the furniture was white. Even the four poster California King Bed was white with black sheets. On the wall, there was a signed hockey stick and next to it, on the shelf, there was a white and black hockey stick and padding along with a new jersey. I guess he's in hockey.
"I thought everything was going to be white…Nice surprise." I whispered, shifted into my demon form, and crawled back into bed where Sess had laid me, loving the feeling of the satin sheets around me. So warm…
(Sesshomaru POV)
The water poured over me as I could hear shuffling in my room. Kagome must have gotten up.
'Mate was tired. But she did work hard in performing today, and she looked gorgeous.' My beast purred.
'She could have gotten hurt…' It's true. She would have been taken is she was just an ordinary human.
'But she is safe, in our bed.' My beast said. He was right. She's safe in my bed. My heart sped up a bit and I began washing off before shutting off the shower and wrapping my lower half in a towel. My hair stuck to my back and chest as I stepped out of the bathroom and into the bedroom, seeing a female who looked different but like Kagome, already asleep but in different clothes. My jersey from my winning game 3 years ago. I stepped closer and sniffed her…It was Kagome. I swelled with pride when I saw that.
"Yo Sesshomaru! Open up!" Inuyasha's voice bled through the door as he banged on it. I stiffened alil as I heard Kagome whimper and shift in her sleep. Growling, I opened the door.
"What is it, welp? You almost woke this Sesshomaru's mate with your blasted yelling and banging."
"Pop's said that there is a game tomorrow. Just wanted to let you know, it's our rivals." He said as he leaned against the door frame.
"The Spiders…" I hissed and shook my head. They played dirty and half the time, we had to bribe the refs to NOT be bribed by the Spiders. Naraku Onigumo, Mr. Onigumo's son, was the captain of the team.
"We have to beat them tomorrow no matter what. Miroku already knows and said he will help out." I nodded at the half-breeds statement before closing the door. As soon as the door closed, Kagome whimpered and shifted again in bed. I walked towards her and looked at her again, but I took a closer look. Kagome's hair had grown longer and her ears were pointed. Her tattoos could be seen through the white. On her face was a black crescent moon in front of a red sun, along with little dark and red designed swirls going to her cheeks. She was stunning, even more so in this form. I grazed her cheek softly with my hand and watched as her eyes open showing silver, instead of her human baby blue eyes. She looked at me with those piercing silver eyes, almost like she was searching for something.
"Sess-moo…" she said sleepily, "are you coming to bed now?" She yawned and her eyes closed once again. A small smile graced my lips at her clearly exhausted state. I changed into my black sweat pants and tied my hair into a ponytail, allowing it to dry before laying behind Kagome. Her breathing was slow and steady, and her scent was enough to calm my body. She smelt like Sakura petals and a hint of black cherry. I slowly wrapped my arm around her waist, pulling her close to me so that her back was against my chest. Her heartbeat was felt through my chest and was enough to lull me to sleep.
(Next morning)
When I woke the next morning, I felt arms around my stomach and when I looked down, I saw a head on my chest.
'Mate is comfy. Mate is at peace in her sleep.' My beast said with pride. He was right. The pervert confided in me that she has had problems with sleep and appetite. From her body language and steady breathing, Kagome appeared to be sleeping peacefully. No nightmares or problems. She has yet to eat though, so I don't know if her appetite has changed. Kagome stirred and turned off of my chest and onto the pillow, her black and red tresses pooling around her face like the night sky mixed with a sunset. She looked like the angel I knew she was. I took in her demonic features and smiled softly at the crescent moon on her forehead covering a sun.
*BANG BANG BANG* went my door. Kagome's face contorted into one of anger and fear. Whoever was banging on my door, was going to die in this moment. Quickly, I got up and ripped open the door only to see Inuyasha there, hockey gear in hand. Shit…the game.
"If you ever bang on this Sesshomaru's door in such a manner and in the presence of my mate again, I will rip your head from your body and present it as a mating gift." I growled out in anger. Inuyasha rolled his eyes.
"Get ready, game is tonight but we need to practice. Dad's orders. Miroku and I are already ready and got our gear. So hurry up." He said and looked inside my room. Quickly, I blocked his view of Kagome and growled. She was not properly dressed and I will not let him ogle my mate.
"Go, Half-Breed." I growled out and shut the door. Pulling on a pair of jeans, I watched her sleep in peace. I walked up to her and touched her cheek lightly, pushing away the hair that covered her eyes.
'Mate had a long night, let's let her sleep.' My beast purred and relaxed, prideful to have our mate in our bed.
'Yes, she needs the rest.' I quickly got dressed, pulling on my new hockey jersey for tonight's game, and made my way downstairs. Grabbing my bag of gear, I left. Leaving Kagome to rest.
(Miroku's POV)
"Ah my dear Sango, I have made your favorite breakfast today." I said happily and set some eggs on a plate filled with sausage and chocolate chip pancakes. Sango growled groggily and pulled herself onto the barstool.
"Haha! Can't handle your alcohol, Sango?" Inuyasha laughed out as he sipped his Monster. Sango glared at him and grabbed the knife, throwing it. Inuyasha's eyes widened as the knife planted itself into the wood next to his head. I laughed and set her plate in front of her.
"Inuyasha, you know better than to fuck with Sango in the mornings. She has never been a morning person." I continued to laugh and started making blueberry pancakes in hopes that little flame would eat more than she normally does. I was still in my demon form, no need to hide anymore. Since my hair in my demon form is longer I had it up in a high ponytail, keeping my bangs out of my face and my markings free for all to see. My ears tweaked a bit, the sounds of footsteps coming down the stairs and the smell of Sesshomaru. So he was awake. "Good morning, Sesshomaru. Finally awake I see."
"Clearly, Monk." He said and went over to the coffee maker. His voice was deeper than normal and his eyes still looked slightly groggy. I guess Inuyasha's wake-up call did not go over too well. Sesshomaru growled and gripped the counter tight. Inuyasha looked at me with a smirk before speaking up.
"Dad took the last of your special imported Orange zest coffee, and it might be a bit before you can get more." He said and brought his monster to his lips.
"Remind me to speak to that impudent man." Sesshomaru growled out and instead began to make something else instead. I laughed a bit but stopped as my ears twitched a bit and the sounds of shuffling. I smiled as Inuyasha and Sesshomaru did the same.
"It appears my little flame has awoken." I said and my beast laughed as the guys kept their eyes on the stairs. I smirked and looked as well. Kagome slowly came down the stairs in her demon form, her silver eyes looked tired but refined. Her hair flowed behind her and I took in her clothing. She now wore a pair of blue skinny jeans and a tank top. She smiled at me and everyone else.
"Something smells delicious." Kagome said happily and skipped past the guys and jumped on my back. Inuyasha's mouth was wide open and Sesshomaru starred. He looked as though he was about to growl.
"Hey, she is my little sister, so stop with that growling mess." I said and set her pancakes and eggs on a plate. Quickly, she hopped off my back and sat next to Sango and began to eat. Holy shit…she is actually eating eagerly.
(Kagome POV)
'Dear gods, this is so damn good!' I ate happily and danced in my seat like a little child.
'Told you, once you are with your mate, your appetite will return and you will be healthy again.' I rolled my eyes at what my demon said and looked up at the guys who were watching me and Sango, who appeared to still be half asleep.
"What?" I said with my mouth still full. Miroku laughed softly and Sesshomaru starred at me. Inuyasha on the other hand was not one to be quiet.
"Holy shit! You are actually eating, Kagome!" He yelled happily and smiled.
"I'm finally hungry, you weirdo." I laughed and continued to eat. I hummed at I at and rubbed Sango's back. Poor girl was groaning in anger at the yelling. "Oh! Here, this should help." I said and hopped off my seat. I walked around and started making us some coffee. Bankotsu would do this for Miroku and I when we needed to get up for school and we had a hard time.
"I know what you are doing, Little Flame." Miroku said and ran to the fridge and grabbed two things, bringing them over to me.
"Thank you, quick question…Can her heart handle this much sugar? We are demon so it didn't affect our hearts much." I said and started mixing the concoction.
"Kags, she is a demon hunter. Her heart can handle a lot." He laughed softly and grabbed a lemon from the counter. I rolled my eyes as we finished our concoction, setting it in front of her.
"What's this?" Sango said groggily. I giggled and bit my lip as I watched her sniff the caffeinated drink and take a sip. Her pupils dilated and she began to laugh. Looks like she was now fully awake. "Holy shit! What is this?!" She yelled and started jumping a bit.
"Haha, it's coffee with 3 tablespoons of Monster and Redbull. 2 tablespoons of sugar and cream along with some lemon juice and zest." I said and sipped my drink as she drank hers. I could hear Inuyasha laugh and Sesshomaru was shuffling.
"Half breed, we must leave now. Father will make is do more if we are late." Sesshomaru said and grabbed a bag off of the floor. He came over to me and kissed me cheek gently and whispered softly in my ear. "Be at the game tonight."
"I decided to be there since I heard Inuyasha last night. You boys better win. This is my first time going to one of my brothers' hockey games since he only had to go to help our if the team was tougher. Nice to know that he has you two there with him. Now you three go kick ass." I said happily and began pushing the guys out of the house. "Sango and I are going to go out and meet up with you three tonight." I smiled and waved as Miroku kissed Sango's cheek. She blushed and pushed him to Sesshomaru's truck.
As the guys pulled out of the driveway and left, Sango and I looked at each other and smiled. When the cat's are away, the mice will play…
