~Jumping Further into the Past~
Chapter 9
Kagomes P.O.V.-
This dinner sucked, it was like everyone was on high alert. I glanced over when I heard Izayoi's voice.
"So, Lady Musabetsu, how does the Eastern Kingdom fair?"
"This has been a truly prosperous year for the East. We have been fortunate enough that no plagues or droughts have taken over our lands."
"I am happy to hear of your good fortune as we have had some of our own. Lord Inutaisho and I have been blessed with a child of our own."
After that comment I could almost hurl, so I choose to tune out the rest of their conversation.
"Kagome?" I turned toward Sesshomaru when I heard my name.
"Yes, my little prince?"
"May we go play out in the gardens after supper is finished?"
Before I could get a word in Izayoi had to open her big mouth, I could have growled.
"Sesshomaru I do believe you are getting a little too old to be playing with the help."
At the end of her remark I could hear a few snickers. As I watched Sesshomaru shrink into himself I couldn't hold back any longer. Letting loose a growl I couldn't help but glare at her.
"You have no right to talk to him as such."
"On the contrary I can talk to him however I please, for I am to be the lady of these lands and his better."
Letting out a snort, " You are more of a fool than I thought if you truly believe that. When Sesshomaru mates one day he becomes the ruler of these lands for he is the oldest child. When that day comes you will be cast aside as the former lady for you will always be beneath him because you are no mother to him!" With that I excused Sesshomaru and myself, "I believe we shall take our dinner in the gardens, Maids."
Inutaisho's P.O.V-
I had to clench my hand in a fist to keep my anger at bay. Remembering the conversation between Kagome and Sesshomaru earlier today, I couldn't help but think maybe they were right.
Now you see what I have been trying to tell you?
What do you mean beast?
I refuse to take that harlot as my mate and you would do well to realize she is not what she seems. She's a wolf in sheeps clothing.
I have noticed lately that she has become more distant and defiant. She also didn't seem to happy at first when I informed her of the pup she is carrying.
It's about time you opened up your eyes, stupid!
Don't call me stupid! If you call me stupid than your calling yourself stupid.
Nope I'm pretty positive you are the stupid one… and with that he disappeared to come back and annoy me at a later date.
No wonder Sesshomaru has been avoiding her. What have I done, I hit him for her. I must set things right as soon as this damnable dinner ends and I can escape.
Izayoi's P.O.V-
Watching Kagome and Sesshomaru leave, I couldn't stop the smirk that graced my face. Soon enough they will all bow down to me! It's almost time for the plans that we created to come to pass.
Kagome's P.O.V.-
"I don't know about you Sesshomaru but I sure am glad we escaped from the room. Those people are too high and mighty for my liking."
Sesshomaru let out a laugh, "I would have to agree with you on the one. I can't believe how thick the air felt in there."
Before I could get another word out a deep sultry voice cut her off, "I agree with the both of you on that one. Those people think to highly of themselves for their own good."
When I turned around I couldn't help but let my gaze wander as Lord Kasai stood before me.
"Would either of you mind if joined you?"
"No, there's plenty to share, just have a seat." I waved toward the seat to the side of me.
Inutaisho's P.O.V.-
When I finally made it out to the gardens where Kagome and Sesshomaru were I couldn't help but stop and listen when I heard laughter accompanied by Kasai's voice.
"So the great and mighty fell from a horse?" Kagome let out a giggle.
"Unfortunately so…the mighty beast had given me quite the scare I might add." I couldn't believe my ears when I heard Sesshomaru laugh along with Kagome. It had been so long since he had heard his sons laughter with someone other than Kagome. He didn't even allow him to hear it anymore.
I decided it was my time to finally cut in before my jealousy got the better of me, "It seems as if everyone seems to be having a good time except for me. Do you mind if I join you?" I couldn't help but look at my son when I saw him flinch at my voice, the guilt of what I had done truly hit me at the point.
"That's fine Inutaisho, you may sit in my seat," I watched as Kagome scooted over towards the seat next to Sesshomaru and left the one across from him open for me.
"Thank you Kagome, Lord Kasai I believe that Lord Kumotta was asking for you." I knew he could hear the dismissal in my voice when he got up to leave.
"Well than it looks like I will be heading out Kagome, Sesshomaru it was a pleasure talking with you both this fine evening."
I could feel some anger course through my veins when Kagome fluttered her eyes at him, "No, Lord Kasai the pleasure was all ours. I hope you have a pleasant evening."
When I could finally feel that he was out of earshot I turned toward them, "I believe I owe you an apology for my behavior earlier today. It was wrong of me to harm you in such a way, I feel so much shame for my actions. Will you please forgive me my son?"
I felt his arms wrap around me in a tight hug, "I know you didn't mean it dad, Kagome talked to me about it earlier. I am also so for the way I have been acting like a spoiled brat. I just can't stand the way Izayoi treats me when you're not around and lately she doesn't even care if you're not around she just does it."
I patted him soothingly on the back, "I see that now and I want you to know that some changes will be made. The will go in a effect when the lords take their leave you will see."
I looked up to see a smile grace Kagome's face, I couldn't help but feel like things were finally looking up.
Oh how wrong he was, things were just beginning to heat up.
