A week later, Dean was striding through a graveyard. He held a bunch of bluebells, lavender and forget-me-nots tied together with a ribbon in his hands. He picked them on a verge near the cemetery and he knew Castiel would have loved them.
After several minutes of searching, he found a small angel statue, his wings out-stretched and arms raised high, overlooking a grey headstone. Both were covered in moss. Dean knelt on the wet grass and scraped moss off the angel's face and the engraved lettering of the tombstone.
CASTIEL NOVAK.
TAKEN TOO YOUNG.
TUESDAY 12TH JUNE TO THURDAY 16TH OCTOBER
Dean stood the flowers against the angel statue, due to a lack of a flowerpot. Dean shuffled to sit comfortably, criss-cross-applesauce next to the grave and watched a bumblebee land on the flowers.
"Well, Cas, I knew we were gonna be friends from the moment I saw you…"
Just a final bittersweet epilogue. It's taken me so long to finish this but I'm glad it can finally rest.
Hope you enjoyed over the past few years! I have other Destiel stories up so check those out if you want!
Thanks for reading, have a great day and see you again soon!
