Chapter 10: Nicknames for Voldemort
The week slowly went by until it was finally the weekend. I got very fed up with hearing all the teachers going on about OWLs. The Doctor was the only teacher that only briefly mentioned them every now and again so he didn't really get on my nerves. Also with my improved eyesight, I explored the castle with them, taking in everything around me.
I found out Harry got detention from Umbridge as I found him come back late. I was sitting in one of the armchairs by the fire, finishing off some homework.
"Hello Harry, was detention alright?" I asked, even though I already knew the answer.
"Yeah, it was okay. It was just lines." I notice how he hid his left hand.
"What's wrong with your hand?" I asked.
He looked at his right hand only.
"Nothing."
"Not that hand the other one. Come over here."
He came over and held up his left hand so only I could see. Scratched on his hand were the words 'I must not tell lies'. That looked like it hurt a lot.
"Just lines huh?" I asked, looking up at him.
"It's nothing. Promise not to tell anyone."
"Fine, I won't. I'll see if I can find anything to heal it though."
I let go of his hands and continued with my homework.
"Thank you Shannon."
The next day, I went to find the Doctor and ask how I could help Harry with his hand. He gave me some oil that he can rub over it once a day. He warned me it would sting a bit though. I gave it to Harry when he had come back from his second detention. He looked quite relieved by it.
"Thanks Shannon."
On Friday, me and the others had finished all the homework for next week so sat there talking about random things. That was until we were interrupted by a group of Gryffindors.
"It looks like dad got keeper." Rose said.
"It's a shame that first years can't play Quidditch. It would be fun." Albus sighed.
"Except for dad of course, he became a part of the team in his first year." James pointed out.
"They are a bit loud though." I said, covering my ears.
"Yes it is quite annoying." Rose added.
It was not long after that, that they brought the butter beer out. Rose, Albus and James all looked like they had tried it before. This would be my first time trying. I took a small sip to taste it before finally deciding that it was actually quite nice so continued drinking it.
At some point, the Weasley twins had given some first years something that gave them nose bleeds. Albus and James had also joined in. I would have too but I was really comfortable in the armchair I was in so didn't bother. Rose just shook her head at her cousins before continuing to read.
It was quite late into the night that I finally got the energy to get up and go to bed.
When I woke up the next morning and got dressed in some comfortable clothes, I found Harry downstairs in one of the armchairs. Harry looked up at me when I entered the common room.
"Hey Shannon."
"Hi Harry, what are you doing up early?" I asked.
"Couldn't sleep, you?"
"I'm an early riser. Anyway what are you doing?"
"Just writing a letter to a friend."
"Okay, just be careful when you go into the Owlery. My owl, Jack, is very weird." I warned.
"Your owl is the small black one with a few white feathers right?" Harry asked.
"That's him, just be careful. He is very friendly."
After explaining to him about Jack's behaviour, I headed off to the Doctor's classroom. It felt magical walking through Hogwarts especially when it was the early morning and no one is around. As soon as I entered the Doctor's room, I headed straight into the Tardis knowing that was where the Doctor would be.
"Hello Shannon, up already I see." The Doctor greeted, looking away from the screen.
"Yeah, I'm a bit of an early riser. I believe there is a Quidditch practice going on later. I might check it out with the others." I told him, leaning against the console.
"Is it alright if I join you, I would love to see this Quidditch practice for real instead of just reading about it?" The Doctor asked.
"Sure, you may even be able to keep the Slytherins behaved." I mentioned.
"Maybe, Slytherins don't like humans that can't do magic though."
"True, well I think might explore the Tardis a bit." I said, starting to head to one of the stairs.
"Don't get lost." The Doctor warned.
"I won't, I think she likes me."
Somehow, I ended up in the library. I looked at all the shelves at the books. Some seemed to be in another language but I couldn't tell if it was human or alien. I wondered if any of my stories were here. I looked at my watch to see that I had been down here longer than I thought so hurried back to the console room. When I got there, I saw that the Doctor was nowhere in sight. He must have gone to the Great Hall already.
I headed straight there. Thankfully I now roughly knew where to go. I found that the Great Hall was already noisy when I got there. I headed to where Rose, Albus and James were.
"Hey guys." I smiled as I took a seat next to Rose.
"Hello Shannon." Rose greeted me with a smile.
"Hey Shannon, you want to come with us to check out Gryffindor's Quidditch practice?" James asked.
"Sure sounds like fun. My brother might join as well."
James and Albus looked a little confused until Albus finally got it and told James what I meant.
"Hopefully he'll be able to control the Slytherins since they won't do anything if a teacher is there." Albus pointed out.
"Yeah but Slytherins hate muggles and that's what Professor Smith teaches." Rose stated.
"Yeah but Professor Smith just has this thing about him that makes you want to make him proud." James said.
"Now that you mention it, it does feel like that when you're around him. What about you Shannon?" Rose asked.
I just shrugged my shoulders.
"I don't know, I just act like I always do I guess." I answered as best as I could.
"Her face just makes me want to throw up." Albus said randomly.
I looked over to Umbridge to see that she was watching all the students with prowling eyes and that weird looking smile of hers. I mean seriously, it has got to be the creepiest smile ever.
"She shouldn't be smiling like that. Doesn't she know she's scaring the younger years?" I stated.
"I'm not scared of her." James boasted.
"I'm not scared of Voldemort and yet he can kill me with a wave of his stick." I pointed out.
"Have you ever met the wizard?" Albus asked.
"No but I'm going to use my Gryffindor courage to insult him when I do." I smirked.
"What type of insults do you have in mind? I might join you." James asked, getting excited.
"I was thinking Baldy or No nose since he has no hair on his head or a nose." I stated with a sly smile.
"What about Snake eyes?" James suggested.
"Stop encouraging her James." Rose scowled at him.
"I don't need encouraging to do something stupid. I just need to use my brain to see if it would be worth it." I told her.
"Well dad said that he didn't like being called his real name which is Tom Riddle." Albus added.
"Albus!" Rose exclaimed.
"What? It's true." Albus defended.
"We can call him Tommy, it's more appropriate I think."
At this, me and James just burst out laughing at the name. Seriously, could you imagine the look on Voldemort's face if anyone ever called him that? It would be priceless and then he would probably kill you or torture you but oh well. It would probably be worth it.
"What are you guys laughing about?" One of the Weasley twins asked.
"Yeah, do tell." The other one added.
Me and Rose had to turn towards the two as they were standing behind us.
"Oh we were coming up with nicknames for Moldywarts." I answered with a grin.
The twins looked at us in surprised.
"Have you ever met the guy?" One of them asked.
"No but now I've got some insulting nicknames for Baldy I now want to meet them to try them out." I told them whilst smiling.
"We wish you good luck with that."
"Try not to get yourself killed when you do."
The two then headed off to goodness knows where.
"Speaking of which, I need to get Professor Smith to sign my Hogsmeade form. But first I need to get one." I remembered.
"How did you get Hogsmeade from talking about nicknames for Voldemort?" James asked.
"No idea." I shrugged. "But I need to ask McGonagall about it. See you guys later."
I quickly grabbed two plain croissants before walking up to the teachers table towards Professor McGonagall who was sitting next to Umbridge looking quite uncomfortable. Professor McGonagall noticed my approach and looked quite relieved.
"Miss Smith, what can I do for you?" Professor McGonagall asked.
I noticed, with a quick glance, that Umbridge was watching us with careful eyes.
"I was wondering about my form for Hogsmeade, Professor."
"Don't worry Miss Smith; your brother has given you permission to go."
"Okay, thank you Professor."
When she nodded, I turned to leave, feeling Umbridge gaze on me as I walked out of the Great Hall to do some exploring. Thankfully, it was a bit easy to navigate around the castle as I had played 'Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix' on the Wii enough times to roughly remember where everything is. Unfortunately, that was only on a small scale though so I had a bit more to explore that wasn't in the game. Oh well, it was fun anyway. I just hope I don't get too lost.
Sorry it's late but I've been distracted by fanfics. Mainly by Dramiones and Rise of the Brave Tangled Dragons. Seriously, they are both awesome. So please review and tell me what you think.
