10 Sweet 16
As the day grew closer to her 16th birthday, Usagi was feeling a mix of emotions. She was feeling both excited and sad at the same time. She always dreamed of the day that she would turn 16 for so long as it was the age where she would feel like an adult and she still felt that way as then her and Mamo-chan's age difference wouldn't matter so much anymore. But now with him going to school in America the feelings are so mixed. She was happy that he was going to fulfill his dream but sad because of the distance between them. Her insecurities about how the time apart will make him realize that she wasn't mature enough for him.
She put on her brightest face to not worry her friends or him but deep down she knew that she didn't fool him but he didn't say anything to her. As she was sitting outside deep in though she felt that familiar warm hand on her shoulder and she smiled instantly feeling better. He always had a way of calming her and put her worries at ease.
She turned and smiled at him. Mamoru handed a box with a smile.
Usagi gave him a quizzical stare and proceeded to open the box. In it was a tiny stuffed whale keychain. She smiled and asked, "When did you buy this?"
"I bought that a long time ago impulsively not knowing why." Mamoru answered.
Usagi smiled thinking back to before she and Mamoru started dating when she had bumped into him as she was leaving the store.
"You noticed that even then?" Usagi asked snuggling next to him and the park bench.
"You were just looking at it for so long that I just knew that I wanted to get it for you." Mamoru replied kissing her temple.
Usagi smiled snuggling closer to him and all her insecurities drifted away as it was moments that she will remember. Knowing with even more certainty that he loved her for her and make her 16th year sweet.
