Hey x Sorry it's been so so long. Laptop broke and I had exams x The song for this chapter is Hurt by Christina Aguilera. It is based on regret and not being there for someone.
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the les mis characters (I wish I did) except Esmee, Lucy
Not long after the soldiers had crushed the revolution a familiar figure was running down the street. Keeping to the shadows she looked for her friends. The streets were in a real state, littered with dead bodies and covered in blood. Lucy sent prayers to God hoping none of her friends were injured or even worse dead.
She entered the café and was shocked by how empty it looked. The tables and chairs were virtually all gone used to make the barricade she assumed and the place looked a mess. It looked nothing like the place her and her friends use to hang out in with the students. "Lucy?" came a familiar voice. "Esmee," Lucy smiled and hugged the woman in front of her. "Where have you been all this time? We've all been worried sick" "Didn't need to worry about me. I'm here and I'm alive that's the main thing. What the hell happened out there?" she said gesturing behind her towards the door. Esmee shook her head sadly, "Revolution wasn't as successful as everyone had hoped. Lots of people have been injured and even more killed. The soldiers halted everything less than an hour ago. Those who had the chance to run grabbed it with both hands." "Where is Enjolras? Courfeyrac? Marius? Gavroche? Please tell me they are all safe?" Lucy was starting to panic. "They're safe... They're at Joly's house but ..." Esmee trailed off, "Roche is injured. He was shot several times when he climbed over the barricade to collect ammunition. I don't know what the outcome will be. He was out cold when I saw the boys last. They were planning to head to Joly's. If you hurry..." Lucy was out the door and running down the street before Esmee could finish her sentence.
How could Gavroche have been so stupid? If she had been there like she was supposed to be then she could have stopped him. She felt very guilty. Her stay away had lasted a lot longer then she had intended and now she was bitterly regretting it. What if Gavroche died? She had abounded him like everyone else who had entered his life for her friends who quite frankly didn't give a stuff about her.
She reached Joly's and banged on the door. It opened a crack then closed. It was then re-opened fully and standing in front of her with a shocked expression was Enjolras.
