a/n: Hey guys! The dinner date is finally here! Yaaay! Bring out the cork popper! Lowl but
seriously I had a bit of trouble figuring out where to end this night and how to dress them. I wanted Kagome to embrace both her personalities and for that to be reflected in her clothing. So that's why she's dressed the way she is. Let me know what you guys think, or what you would've dressed her in. As for Inu I also wanted Inuyasha to retain some of his canon looks. To me, Inu has this sexy rugged look so I really wanted to embellish that. I can't really picture him as sophisticated because that's Sesshy's thing. Ya know? I'm thinking this story won't be more than 20-30 chapters long. I wanna drag this nor rush it so.. yeah.
Also, I've never been to Los Vegas so as you probably guessed I'm just making sh*t up as I go. Hell Ion even knows what month they're in. Anyway on to the Reviews!
Talawolfgirl: *taps chin* Hmm that's a good idea.
Lucky! I wish I had a beta. It's really hard to find one thou... I feel a sense of obligation to you guys thou, I just have to do better for Y'all!
Guest: Your review made me smile so much. :) Ha Ha Thank you
Bitterbeauty813: I hope I don't disappoint your expectations!
When Kagome answered the soft but firm knock she was not expecting to see Inuyasha standing at the door with a single rose in hand.
He was something out of the secret romantic action short stories she wrote about in her precious notebook.
Muscled, dark, charismatic...handsome in a way that took her breath away as her eyes greedily drunk the sight of him in.
She felt too warm all over, forgotten places on her person that she hadn't remembered could produce such heat.
She burned and didn't quite remember why.
He was nothing short of a miracle of a man, standing there in a smooth, dark burgundy buttoned shirt tucked neatly into dark denim's. His black suspenders gleamed from underneath his long wool overcoat, and her eyes briefly glanced down at his clean black timberlands.
When his throat cleared her eyes flew back to his face, and appreciated his tousled black mane. Even with long hair he looked nothing short of masculine.
It was completely understandable when the only thing she could think of tumbled clumsily out of her mouth.
"Tashio Bokuseno is your Uncle."
"Yep."
"He was like the attorney general for all of youkai."
"Uh-huh." Inuyasha gently lifted her curly, newly dyed hair and stucked the stem behind her pointy ear. He hummed silently, appreciating her new fringe cut.
"Which means that your related to Takahashi InuTashio."
Inuyasha forced himself back from her, feigning innocence. "Ya know, I've heard of that guy before. Are you gonna let me in Higurashi or what?"
Flustered, overwhelmed, and awed Kagome simply opened the door wider her face still shocked.
"Right. S-sorry. B-but you're related to one of the three fameous Rulers of all youkai...the Takahashi Inu Tashio."She said again slowly with great emphasis and respect. She paused. Afraid he misunderstood her.
"For centuries." She stressed.
"Congratulations you passed the history exam. Where's the confetti ?" Inu deadpanned as he closed the door for her and leaned against it to study her.
"You look good."
"I-really?"
Distracted not only by the compliment but the delivery she glanced down. She ran a slightly shaky hand down the light material on her arm. "At first I wasn't so s-sure about this d-dress." Briefly she remembered her-his wardrobe for her. None of those clothes had been this snug. He hadn't wanted what he considered what was his to be noticed by others.
"Ayumi, at the Tashio Treasure Boutique, found it for me. She said I belong with jeweled colors." She said with a slight smile, her nervousness vanishing.
"Ayumi deserves a raise." He murmured appreciatively, his amber eyes twinkling at her laughter. He motioned for her to turn around. "Twirl around."
"Twirl-?!" Her breathless laughter was infectious as she was twirled by him, her laughter excited and self conscious.
'A big raise,' he thought with a fanged grin as he eyed her long pale legs.
It was a floor-length, deep, emerald maxi dress with two slits on the flowy long sleeves, and subtle slits a little passed her knees. Her black, velvety flats were pointed and the straps tied all the way to her ankles.
He frowned though, disappointed.
"What?" Kagome asked noticing his expression.
"They're not there." He checked the back of the dress again just to be sure. "What's not there?" Kagome touched her the bodice of the dress self consciously.
"Wings. I expected to see little fairy wings." He faked another sigh of disappointment.
Laughing Kagome swatted his hands away, her eyes sparking. "You never know Tashio-Sama," she said mysteriously. "They just might be there after all." She winked at him, the bolder before-Kagome rushing through her veins like adrenaline.
Inuyasha refrained himself from flirting back with her. 'She probably doesn't even notice the pull she seems to have...Damn virgins and their innocence!'
"I... need a drink. What'd you do today anyway?," Inu said as he walked to the bar, to take a mini bottle of shōchū out of the mini fridge.
Kagome realized she was still standing stiffly by the door and shook herself out of her trance. She watched him maneuver around the kitchen with a kind of grace she realized was purely animalistic. She could really see him now, the way he stalked forward..he reminded her of a canine. Which makes since he's the descendant of the Inu Tashio...
" Jakotsu cut my hair," she began, sighing in satisfaction at the sound of a popping cork.
"Who?"
"At your salon?"
"Ahhh that Jakotsu." Inu grabbed two flutes from the glass shelves and poured. "Pushy, creepy little fucker. I can't stand him. But he keeps the customers coming back and does my hair the way I like it."
Kagome giggled at Inuyasha's disgruntled expression. "I thought he was going to throw me out when he'd seen what I'd done to my hair." She ran her fingers through the shorter locks. "His word is law in there. We struck a deal and I lost I'm happy to say. My hands and feet smell like jasmine and lavenders. Feel."
She held out her delicate hands to him and he held them in his wider ones. He gazed at her slender ones trying to suppress the odd urge to nibble on them.
"Nice. Silver?"
She shrugged her eyes unreadable. "They remind me of my Okaa-sans eyes."
"Keh." He muttered and slipped her a glass of shōchū.
"To your mother's eyes," he said with a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
Kagome touched her glass to his, her eyes thankful. "For her," she agreed and sipped slowly.
"This is heavenly," she murmured after a quite moment with him. Closing her eyes she sipped again. "Why would anyone drink anything else?"
Inu snorted, struggling internally with his baffling emotions.
Amusement.
Interest.
Guilt.
He unsuccessfully shook himself of those thoughts, becoming aware of Higurashi's intoxicated ramblings.
"...the colors and the sounds! There'd be music and dancing. Everyone would be so happy. The perfect place to end." Kagome stopped and laughed again, at herself. "This drink is going to my head. This isn't what I wanted to talk about with you. I-your uncle-"
"I'm hungry. I can tell you all about his terrible singing ability over dinner. Here." He gently took the flute from her and sat it down on the island. He spotted her surprisingly not atrocious Jean bag but a small bag on the counter which he passed to her.
Kagome narrowed her eyes at him as he lead her to the private elevator. "Can I have more at dinner then?"
Inuyasha laughed then, too amused to snort at her. "Kid, you can have whatever whenever you want."
"Oh!" Kagome sighed happily, her system buzzing with alcohol and happiness. She leaned against the wooden bar in the elevator dreamily, she felt like she was in a dream that she never wanted to wake up from.
Inu pushed the blue button to the top floors restaurant. He exhaled through his mouth slowly, trying and failing to get her scent out of his system.
'She smells like jasmine, lavenders, and something..wild. Untamed. It suits her.' He mused to himself.
His hands felt twitchy but he knew subconsciously that she didn't enjoy touchy hands. He decided the best place for his hands was his good ol' jean pockets.
'Damn you woman!' He cursed mentally. "So..you enjoy the casino?"
"Not really, no. W-well I d-didn't really get to play. I w-wouldn't know where to begin really." Kagome murmured nervously not meeting his eyes for fear she'd upset him.
The elevator dinged softly as it slid open for them. Startled Kagome looked up and then over at Inu. He stuck out his arm for her encouragingly . "You seem to be doing well so far. Why stop now little fairy?"
He lead her through glass doors that segued to the rooftop, revealing the starry night sky and all its brilliance.
Kagome gazed about slack jawed, barely able to follow him correctly as she took in the tall palm trees, live string ensemble, and other fancifully dressed consumers there.
Inu held her chair out for her before pushing her in and sitting down himself. He signaled for a sharply dressed waiter.
"The lady enjoys shōchū."
The waiter bowed low, and disappeared in a cloud of smoke with a whispered 'Hai'. Kagome raised an eyebrow at Inu, an unconscious habit from him.
"Youkai, Hanyou, Oni, and humans are welcomed and encouraged to be themselves in any Tashio owned place," He quoted dutifully from his grandfather.
"It must be liberating living in a safe heaven like this. "Kagome murmured with a slow gesture towards their surroundings.
Inu shrugged. "I was born and raised in a golden cage until I rebelled at the age of 15 human years. Then I got to attend public school and harsh realities of Youkai discrimination."
"So you had the best of both worlds then," she murmured her elbows defiantly resting on the table, her hands cradling her face as she gazed at him.
Inu shrugged. "Pretty much."
"Do you like it here?"
He shrugged again and cleared his throat. "Its all I've ever known. I was born with dice and a deck of cards in my hands. My biological mom died when I was two and my Chichi remarried. They met on cruise ship. Ayame was the dealer. Chichi fell in love with her from the very first time she slapped him." Inu chuckled.
"Ahh she was beautiful," Kagome sighed at the thought of a shipboard romance.
"Of course she is. Where's do you think I got theses killer looks from?" Inu bragged jokingly flaunting his biceps and hair.
Kagome giggles at his antics, charmed. "You must have a big family then."
Inu snorted. "More like an animal farm reunion."
"Only children are jealous of big farm animal reunions. Loneliness isn't even a choice for you I bet." Her eye's looked too shiny, he thought as he sipped his wine.
"Nope."
The waiter returned with a tall bottle of the grape wine. Inu nodded for him to proceed and Kagome watched the strange tradition with rapid attention.
Curious by the ritual, Kagome studied every step, completely oblivious to Inuyasha's smoldering golden gaze. She 'oo' and 'ah' at the Kitsune's elegant spin of black cloth, the subtle movement of the sommelier's paws, the muffled pop of the cork. At Inu's signal, a small amount was poured into Kagome's flute for tasting.
An expression of pure bliss bloomed on her face, making her cheeks a lovely shade of pink. With A sound of satisfaction, Kagome opened her eyes and grasped the waiters gloves paw. "It's wonderful. Like liquid gold in an edible form."
Shocked and immensely pleased the Kitsune's two tails swished with brimming giddiness. "Thank ya ma'am!" The waiter practically skipped back to their post- but not before a sly flourish of pouring the drink and setting it nestled in a bucket of ice.
Chuckling Inuyasha shook his head, charmed. Shaking his head at her innocence display of charisma, he gently tapped his glass against hers, gaining her attention. "You wanted to discuss my Uncle's terrible singing?"
Merry Christmas guys! So many times I wanted to end this early but I guess this version will have to do. I felt obligated to write a longer chapter for my abrupt absence. And after I tentatively made a plan to update more no less!! So sorry guys.
My Christmas was okay. Wasn't anything heartwarming or anything. Just flying attitudes.
Anyway if any of you fallow me I recently posted a meal peak of this chapter in my insta story. So follow my Instagram (@vendetta_ave) for sneak peeks and polls for incoming chapters!! Merry Christmas
