Listen, I appreciate the fact that some of you guys are spamming the hell out of my High School of the Dead/Star Wars crossover with reviews like, "When are you gonna update HOTD/Battlefield?" so that it shows me that you want it updated and you guys love it. BUT, do me a favor and stop doing that. When I receive reviews on another story telling me to update another story, it doesn't make me too happy...more annoyed in fact. I wanna see reviews telling me that you guys enjoy, not telling me to update something that doesn't pertain with my current mood of writing. I understand I haven't touched this story in months but things happen ya know?
So, I'm gonna give you guys this chapter but I DO NOT want to see another review on Temptation of the Dark Side asking me to update this story. We clear? Thank you. (Hopefully this chapter will give me more motivation for Battlefield stories.)
(Preston)
"So there she was…our commander…our superior…the one who always had orders for us on a mission…Miss July out cold in a room inside a mansion belonging to the father of a high school girl we only met days prior. When you're faced with both an epidemic and the world's deadliest army squeezing you in, you find that there are always plenty of things to do."
"Ah COME ON!" Sweetwater whined. "Do we really have to stand out here in the rain?"
"When I tell you to do something, YOU DO IT. When the owner of this house asks me to do something, WE ALL DO IT." Redford barked. "And right now, I want you to SHUT UP and watch the damn gate with us."
"Quit your whining you god damn-"
"No it's not the rain." Sweetwater cut off Haggard. "It's the fact that we have to keep watch of these mercenaries. I'm practically waiting to die."
"Yeah but remember, we gotta keep watch of survivors too." Preston said.
The four continued watch alongside with the rest of Souichiro's men at the barricade, quietly waiting for anything or anyone approaching.
"Uh…That ain't me is it?" Haggard randomly asked.
"No, wait." Redford whispered. "I hear it too."
In the distance, a low rumbling sound was heard and it was coming from the other side of the barricade.
"We got company…" Redford mumbled. "HEADS UP!" He yelled up.
The four got their weapons ready while Souichiro's workers caught the attention from the Sergeant. Sweetwater had to speak with them in Japanese to explain that something was approaching, even though they were the ones who couldn't hear anything.
"What the hell is that?" Sweetwater asked, squinting.
As the object began to move closer, it became clearer to what was approaching.
"Looks like a bus." Preston said.
"Should I…?" Haggard asked, pulling out his bazooka from his back.
"Wait." Redford gestured with his hand.
The bus then came to a halt and then cries of help were heard from a girl in a high school uniform (matching the uniform of Takashi and his friends) with light red hair, hanging out of a window.
"What did she say?" Haggard asked.
"What anyone would say right now. Help us." Sweetwater replied.
"Should we let 'em through?" Haggard asked.
"Well let's see what they have to say first." Redford said, looking at Souichiro's men.
("We're going to move the barricade.") One man told Sweetwater.
("Understood.") Sweetwater nodded. "They're gonna move the barricade." He told his squad.
The men was able to get a drivable lifter over to the barricade and lift the heavy concrete objects out of the way in order to make room for the bus to pass through. As the bus passed all of them, a chill ran down Haggard's spine.
"You cold Haggard?" Preston noticed.
"Well, yeah." Haggard admitted.
"Well a bus did just drive by us and a little bit of wind blew on all of u-"
"That's not what I meant fucko." Haggard interrupted Sweetwater. "I meant this other type of chill that you guys probably don't feel.
"What exactly?" Redford asked.
"Someone's in there…and I feel there's a certain level of…negative emotion coming from inside that bus. P.S, it ain't the Legionnaire…Or I don't think it is…No…wait." Haggard began to sniff the air. "Ya smell that?"
"What?" Sweetwater asked.
"Come on Haggard, what could you possibly smell in the rain?" Preston also questioned.
"I SMELL GOLD."
Back inside the mansion, Takashi had just gathered his equipment all together and explain to Souichiro previously about his plans about going out into the city in order to make sure his family is alive. There was a certain deal that Souichiro layed out…He said that he was already making a plan to leave the mansion along with other survivors due to the increasing risk of remaining in the metro area. Takashi was still adamant to find his parents.
Takashi went near the front and saw that Rei was ready to go, holding her Springfield M1A1 Supermatch, attached to a strap around her body.
"Shouldn't we get help from ya know…?" Rei asked.
"I could ask one of the four if they would help me." Takashi shrugged.
"I will help you."
Rei and Takashi turned to see that Miss July, in her uniform, was awake and walking down the stairs without difficulty, who still looked slightly bruised but had this look of determination in her eyes.
"Wait…Who is SHE?!" Rei asked.
"I don't believe that I've introduced myself formally…" Miss July looked around to see that the entire group was present. "Commander July, 212nd American Army battalion, Intel division. I've worked with those boys ever since the American-Russian war that had previously occurred."
"COOL!" Kohta cried.
"So they weren't kidding…" Saya mumbled. "So you only spoke on the radio and told those four what to do?" She questioned.
Miss July took the M9 out of her holster and cocked it. "I can hold my own in the field."
"Is that a…?" Kohta asked, staring at the pistol.
"The standard American sidearm, M9 Beretta." Miss July said. "It-"
Miss July then lost her train of thought because of Rei drawing her bayonet from her M1A1 forward., while she was running furiously towards someone out in the front.
"Oh no that's…" Takashi murmured.
Miss July climbed down the stairs and followed the rest of the group and walked to see who Rei was going to confront. By the time Miss July and everyone else reached the door, they heard Rei growl one name.
("MR. SHIDO.")
She had the bayonet held at the man's (wearing all dark formal clothing) face.
("Miss…Miss Miyomoto, thank goodness you're alright!") He stuttered.
("Do you know why I'm good with the spear? It's because I learned the bayonet too! From my father who had never lost a competition in his life! To think that you made my father suffer! The man who had never been affected by anything had to apologize to me in tears. He said I had to repeat the grade because of him but I know that only YOU can control the student's grades…")
"That must be the son of Minister Shido…" Miss July murmured.
("I held my temper.") Rei continued. ("Because he told me that he would be able to arrest you AND your father if his investigation went smoothly but now…You pay.")
She held the blade closer to Shido's face and let a little drop of blood drip from his face.
("Are you going to commit murder?") Shido asked, hesitantly. ("You're a Police man's daughter…You don't want to become a criminal do you?")
("I DON'T WANT TO HEAR THAT FROM YOU!") Rei yelled.
A loud thunder roared as the rained continued to fall and Souichiro came out from inside the house.
("Then you should kill him…")
Everyone who was around turned to Souichiro.
("I was once associated with this man's father…but now that means nothing…So if you wish, KILL HIM.")
Takashi made an attempt to run forward and stop Rei from killing Shido in front of everyone but he was stopped by Miss July and Saeko.
("She has to make this decision for herself.") Saeko said.
"He has collaborated with his father, who sent in the Legionnaire to ambush MY battalion, MY soldiers but… the choice of vengeance is down to her now."
They looked back at Rei and Shido. Shido was openly welcoming Rei to kill Shido but continued to taunt her, telling her that if she kills him, she may be haunted by the act for the rest of her life. They watched with great intensity and held their breath…Rei holding him at gunpoint while Shido had a confident, evil smirk on his face.
What felt like moments pass, they continued to watch, hoping that Rei would make the right decision but it appeared to be that the decision made itself.
"AAAAAAAAARGH!"
It was Haggard's screaming, with his personal 870MCS Shotgun raised in the air like a bat. He charged Shido and swung forward and knocked Shido down, then restrained him.
"WHAT THE HELL HAGGARD?!" Redford shouted from a distance.
"Jus' a minute Sarge, I still smell the gold, and it's coming from…whoever the fuck this is!" Haggard yelled back.
Takashi's friend stared at Haggard, confused to what he was doing, while Haggard's squad and commander, were only shaking their heads. Haggard took large inhales through his nose then reached inside of Shido's suit then pulled something out.
"WELL SLAP ME HARD AND CALL ME EL DORADO AGAIN!" He exclaimed, holding a gold bar in his hand.
Sweetwater walked over to Haggard. "Ok "El Dorado Again" let's have a look."
"Oooh oooh, FINDERS KEEPERS!"
"NO! I WANNA LOOK AT IT!"
"I STILL WANNA BUY THAT TRUCK-A-SAUROUS REX."
Haggard and Sweetwater scrambled around each other to fight for that one gold bar. Shido grumbled while Souichiro kicked both him, and his group of students out, which made him drive away in the bus in which he came in. By then, Redford snatched the gold bar from them, in which they continued to argue, while Preston sighed while standing alongside Miss July.
"Just like my first day." Preston mused.
"This is SERIOUS Marlowe." Miss July emphasized.
"I know…" Preston said. "You said they had a Scalar Weapon? What did you mean?"
Suddenly from a long distance away, they heard a loud rumbling sound.
"Uh…WHAT THE HELL IS THAT SOUND?!" Saya questioned.
"I dunno…But I don't like it." Haggard said.
