Foreword:

Confession—this isn't really a chapter. I'm sorry… T-T If you're reading this story in the future, you can safely skip this chapter and move right on to the next one.

Normally I wouldn't waste everyone's time and patience posting a fake chapter like this (unless it's April Fool's Day or something :P), but since I said I'd be updating on the 30th—which was pretty stupid of me, now that I think about it—I figured I owed an explanation to those of you who were expecting me to keep my word. The next chapter is far from being ready. The first draft is written, but there's still some important stuff I need to add to it. I thought I'd have plenty of time this week to work on it, but I ended up pouring most of my free time into helping my sister with a project of hers that has a new-years deadline.

Anyway, I wanted to at least give you guys something to take the edge off your frustration with me. So, as punishment for missing my deadline, I've forced myself to do a writing exercise and then post the resulting unpolished drabble for the whole world to see. *chuckles weakly* The challenge is to start with a prompt and then write on it for five minutes. No stopping, no thinking… though I can't promise I didn't cheat on that one. My sister chose the prompt 'nocturne' from her list of long words that no one uses, and I took it from there. Hopefully y'all will at least get a laugh out of it. :]

Nocturne [nok-turn] – (Music) a piece appropriate to the night or evening.

Sally Botsford had never much cared for classical dance. She was more of a free spirit, and the strictlyt contructed paterns of ballet and such were too restrictive, in her opinion. However, when Swan Lake started playing over the loudspeaker during her date with her husband and he asked her if she wanted to hit the dance floor, she couldn't bring herself to say no.

"Sure, Hon," she said with a smile, wondering how she was going to move to the beat of such a slow piece of music.

She and Tim were indeed a perfect match, however, and this fact was reinforced by how, as soon as they hit that dance floor, he spun her around into a swing-like rhythm completely unfitting to the music playing. She laughed and swept right off into the flow of his dance.

Or maybe it wasn't so unfitting after all.

The young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well.

Jeremiah 31:13a

Well, there you have it. Just for the record, I actually do know how to spell the words 'strictly,' 'constructed,' and 'patterns,' but I decided to leave the typos for honesty's sake. *cringes* Oh, and needless to say, this chapter doesn't count against the completist bonus for those of you playing my game. ;)
