Lita woke up the next morning confused as to where she was. She looked around where she was and saw it looked like some random shady motel, and then she remembered that it was. She remembered Dawn say, "the shadier the motel, the more Matt will most likely over look it." At least it wasn't totally shady, it was half way there.
The thoughts of the previous night started to flood through her mind. She was finally away from Matt. Hopefully it would stay that way. She then recalled that she wasn't alone. She looked around once again, this time trying to spot her "babysitters." How she hated that word, but it did fit. She hated that she needed people to look after her, but at the same time, she didn't want to be alone because she was afraid of the thought that Matt would find her, so she was going to learn to deal with it.
She looked over to the bed on the left side where Dawn was sleeping. Her eyes widened in shock when she saw Dawn bleed from the head. It looked like she took a gun shot to her head. She wanted to scream, but she couldn't. She looked around once again, and this time, saw John on the couch in the room with blood all over himself too. She couldn't see well, but she saw there was blood pouring from his chest through his shirt. She was completely terrified. This could only mean one thing: Matt found her and he knew who helped her and he made sure they paid for it.
She tried to wipe away the tears that were flowing down her face. Her hands shaky, but did the job. She didn't know what to do, how to leave. What if Matt was waiting for her to leave the room and then he would take his next steps against her? Maybe she deserved it, her best-friend was dead because of her as well as someone she didn't know that well. How could she let that happen?
She finally got up from the bed as best as she could, trying to ignore the blood and two bodies around her. She had to get out of there, she didn't really know what she was looking for, but she just had to get out of there. She finally opened the door and saw someone she definitely didn't want to see which made her heart beat fast. She just entered a whole different level of terrified.
"We meet again," Matt said with a huge smirk on his face. "You really thought you could get away huh?"
She tried to back away from him, but he grabbed her roughly by her wrist with one hand and put the other hand on her mouth so she wouldn't scream and alert anyone. He pulled her closely to himself, entering the room and shutting the door behind her. He's going to kill me too, she thought, completely scared of being left alone with him especially with two dead bodies in the room showing her what he was capable of, not that she didn't already know.
Matt pushed her against the wall with her back slamming hard against it. She was still too terrified to speak or say anything, so she couldn't vocally express the pain. You could think that she would be immune to the pain since it was always happening, but that's not something she thought she would ever get used to.
"How would you like for this to happen?" Matt asked pinning her against the wall. She didn't say anything, she couldn't. He started to laugh at her. "Would you like to die slowly or should I shoot you like that whore and your little boy toy over there?" Yup, Lita thought, he's going to kill me. "Well, I think slow and painful would be more fun for me, don't you think?" He gave her another fake smile. But before he could do anything, she started to kick at his legs as to get him away from her. She tried using her fist too, but Matt had both her arms in her grasp. That just made him laugh. She wasn't successful as she was weak, so the kicks were falling weak as well.
"Please don't," She finally spoke for the first time that day. Matt barely heard her since it was a quiet whisper, but he did still hear her.
He just smirked at her once again. Ignoring her statement, raising his arms so he could place his hands around her neck. He was going to choke her, the tears falling down her face. The pressure around her neck was getting harder and harder. She just stopped trying to fight against him. She knew what was going to happen and knew she couldn't prevent it, so she was just decided to give up. She closed her eyes and waited for all of this to officially end.
John watched from his spot on the couch near Lita's bed. She was moving around in her sleep and kept screaming "no" and "leave me alone." He knew she had to be having a nightmare right now. After all, he did have prior experience with this with his mother. And himself. He remembered having nightmares for a couple of months after he himself was shot when he was trying to help his mom out.
He walked over to her bed, deciding it would be a good idea to wake her up from her nightmare. He didn't want to touch her because he didn't want to startle her so he started to call out her name. But she wasn't responding and continued to scream. He didn't know what to do, so he decided her shake her gently as a way to get her out of the nightmare. He did so which worked, but her eyes shot open and she looked like she was having a panic attack or something. She jumped away from him and started looking around the room with one of her hands on her throat. She said something is a quiet whisper, but he could still tell what she said.
"Matt."
"He's not here," John said carefully, trying to keep distance between the two so he wouldn't frighten her.
She looked at him for a while before she started to panic again and looked over to the left side of the room at the bed and saw Dawn wasn't there anymore. "Wher where's Dawn?! He got her? Didn't he. Oh my God, he killed her!"
"No," John interrupted her. "She left earlier. She didn't want to wake you up, but she left. She said she would try to come back later tonight."
"She's okay?" John could tell she was very worried. Whatever she was dreaming about must have been very horrible.
"Yes."
"Are you sure? What if he-"
"I talked to her," John interrupted her before she could freak out anymore. "She called when she got home, she's okay." Lita simply nodded. He wanted to ask how she was, but he kind of already knew the answer of that and he wasn't sure how she would react. Fortunately for him, she spoke up before he could say anything.
"I had a dream," Lita started to say, not looking at John. "M... He shot and killed you and Dawn." So that's what she was dreaming about, John thought as he continued to listen to her. "And then he got to me and asked me how I would like to die; slow or fast." She paused for a moment before she continued. "That's when he decided to choke me." So that's why she was holding onto her throat. "He kept yelling at me and telling me that this was all my fault." She finally looked up at John who was looking at her with concern in his eyes. "And it will be if anything happens to any of you."
"Nothing is going to happen to any of us."
"And how do you know that?" He didn't say anything. "Yea, that's what I thought. Maybe I should just go back to him and he won't hurt any of you. It's better if he just hurts one person versus four."
"No," John started to say trying to keep his voice calm. "What's better is if he hurts no one."
"Well, that's not going to happen. I should ju-"
"No," he interrupted her, still trying to keep his voice calm. "Stop thinking about that. You need to stop thinking about that, it's doing you no good. You're out now, it's going to be okay."
"And how can you be so sure of that?"
"Because I'm going to help you. I'm going to make sure of it. Dawn, Edge, and I, we're all going to help you."
"I understand why they want to help me. I understand what reasons you have for wanting to help me, but why? Why would you help someone that you don't even know at all? Why would you want to relive all of those horrible memories?"
"I know what my mom went through. I wouldn't want anyone to go through that. I don't care if I don't really know you. You're still a person. You're still a human being. That's all that matters."
"Thanks. In case I forget to say that." John simply nodded in return.
"You want to try going back to sleep?" John asked after a while. "I could tell that you didn't get much and you're probably tired."
"I'm kind of afraid to go to sleep. But you're right, I am tired. I just... I don't want to."
"Well, I'm here if you need anything."
"Okay," she nodded. Thanks."
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CAN'T FIND HER?!" Matt yelled at the person across from him.
"I don't know where to find her," Shannon replied. "She's not anywhere near your house. I haven't seen her around her friends house either. You know her, maybe you should look for her yourself." He probably shouldn't have said the last part since it did earn him a hard slap to the face. What did he get himself into when he agreed to help Matt with Lita?
"I could, but I told you to! Can't you do anything right?!" He didn't expect for Shannon to answer, nor did he wait for one. "I'm going to that whore's house and check for myself if that stupid slut is with her." He was about to leave until he turned around to glance at Shannon one more time. "You better keep looking around for her. You better hope one of us finds her otherwise I will make you regret your stupidity." He left with Shannon staying back and thinking how he had to get out of this mess. Maybe he could just leave and Matt wouldn't be able to find him. After all, Matt was more interested in finding Lita so he probably wouldn't go after him. At least for the moment.
Matt finally made it to Dawn and Edge's house later that afternoon after he got off from work that day. He saw one car in the driveway and thought at least one of them was there so he could try to get answers from them. He thought for sure Dawn knew about the whereabouts of Lita.
He knocked on the door and waited for an answer after he got out of his car.
"Hi," Dawn answered the door. She was waiting for him, she knew he would be there sometime after he found that the redhead was not at the hospital anymore. She was a bit prepared for this too because she saw him pull up in his car. She took the moment to call Edge and to tell him he needed to come home as soon as he could because she didn't know what Matt could and would do.
"Where's Lita?" Was his response.
"At the hospital." Dawn was hoping he couldn't see right through her lies.
"No she's not and you know it."
Dawn pretended to look confused about not knowing that Lita wasn't in the hospital. "What do you mean she's not at the hospital?"
"Don't act like you don't know."
She still continued with her act. "What do you mean? I just saw her last night and she was there." Matt still wasn't buying it. I have to get better with the acting.
"I know she's here."
"Actually, she's not. Because like I told you, I thought she was in the hospital, so if she's not there, I don't know where she is."
"So you wouldn't mind if I checked out your house then?" He asked her as he tried to get into her house, but she blocked his path.
"Actually, I would. My husband isn't home and I don't-"
"So she is here," Matt interrupted her. That's when Edge came up from behind them. Wow, Dawn thought, that was fast.
"What's going on?" He asked keeping up with Dawn's act, which resulted in Matt turning around to face him.
"Lita is in there and I want to see her."
"Actually, she's in the hospital. We just saw her there last night."
"So you wouldn't mind if I checked in your house then."
"Not really. Go for it. Come on in," he led Matt into the house so he could check it out. "By the way, why would Lita be here if she left the hospital? Wouldn't she want to come back to you?"
"That's what I was thinking. I just came here to see if she was here so I could take her back home."
Over my dead body, Dawn thought but said something else aloud instead. "She's not here. We should be looking for her out there instead of in here. She could be anywhere. What if she's hurt?"
"I think I'll check this place out first." Dawn fought the urge not to punch him in his place, but let him check the house out since he wasn't going to find anything.
"So now that you believe us," Dawn started to say after Matt came back downstairs after he checked out the house with Edge, who also wanted to punch Matt in the fact, "maybe we can start looking for her."
"Fine. I'll tell you if I find anything, I trust you'll do the same." Matt said finally leaving their house. He wasn't going to stop following Dawn and Edge to see if they could lead him to Lita. They could say they didn't know where she was, but that didn't believe he was going to believe them. At least not without trying.
Both Dawn and Edge knew that Matt would probably follow them around hoping to get some sort of lead to Lita which was why Dawn called John and told him everything that happened. She told him that she wouldn't be able to come later that night or possibly anytime soon because she didn't want Matt to get near Lita in any way. John was supposed to stay with Lita for a couple of days before Dawn was going to stay with her for a couple of days. So the brunette told him that she would possibly be able to come the next time when she would be taking over and staying with Lita. He thought that would be for the best because they had to make Matt think that they didn't know anything about where Lita was. They knew they still had a long way to go to officially get the redhead out of harms way. They just hoped they would get there soon.
