Review!

"It's ok guys," Rose says as she peeks out the window to make sure that the motel parking lot was clear of any black vans full of alchemist psyches. "We're safe."

The word safe itself seems to bring a warm, comfy, stress free atmosphere that Eddie hasn't felt in a very long time. He looks around the two adjoined rooms at his friends, Lissa, Christian, Dimitri, Rose, Angeline, Trey, Sydney, Adrian, Neil, and Jill. Lissa's on the phone and Christian's in the kitchen making something good as always. Dimitri and Rose seem to be getting comfortable in the couch while watching the doors and windows. Sydney's on the bed sleeping in Adrian's arms and Neil is sitting near the door with his stake in one hand.

Jill is sitting in the corner, furthest away from everyone. Her knees are pulled up against her chest and her small hands play with her hair. Eddie's heart skips a beat as she looks up at him, their eyes, hazel and green, turning into pools of shyness, lust, and longing.

Eddie's always been the funny one amongst his friends but time changed him. Everyone would want him to come to their parties to get the fun started. Mason and him were popular, wanted, and the talk of the people. Their pranks and jokes were signature and incomparable in St. Vlad's. Mason wasn't just his best friend, he was his brother. Their families would get together for every holiday and hold big feasts that always ended in the burping contests and a hours long games of poker. But then Mason died and Eddie felt that he died along with his friend.

He loved Mason so much. It wasn't until he died he realized how much he needed his brother. Before he wanted Mason and now…Eddie needs him. He needs Mason there to punch him on the shoulder, to tell him to make a move on Jill, and to tell him that everything's going to be ok.

Eddie felt empty until he was given Jill to guard. Jill's full of light. There's never an end to the surprises she carries around with her. No one seems to know the true Jill. No one seems to know what she's going through that fake smile on her face but hours after guarding Jill, Eddie seems to understand her more than ever. Sometimes he wishes he didn't understand. Sometimes he wishes that he didn't understand the pain Jill's dragging herself through.

Eddie can't seem to comprehend how such a little fifteen year old girl can go through what she did and smile and laugh. She's so brave yet so closed off. She's small but so beautiful. She's so young but so wise. Eddie looks away from Jill and out the window.

Like Mason, he lost her to. He can't lie that he didn't feel a little bit of satisfaction when Lee died. Eddie couldn't stand to see his hands on her, on his Jill. He was afraid then that Jill would be the next Mason and then Lee died. But Jill was broken. And he had felt happy that Lee died. Eddie threw up the morning after seeing pale, puffy eyed Jill. He didn't go to school.

Now though, he had her. He had Jill in the open. She kissed him and he had kissed her, so why aren't they together? Why can't they be Sydney and Adrian? Why can't they be Rose and Dimitri?

He knows the answer as Jill does. Her sister, the Queen would never approve. Jill had become another Mason. Eddie closes his eyes and leans against the wall, trying to numb himself from the pain.

It isn't until midnight when everyone in the motel retired to their beds in the adjoining rooms, leaving only Sydney, Adrian, Jill and him. Eddie watches Adrian gently snore next to Sydney and slowly lets his eyes to drift towards Jill.

She's still in the corner, half asleep, half awake. Eddie gently makes his way towards her and wraps a blanket around Jill's shoulders.

"Eddie?" she whispers, her voice small and fragile.

His hands rub against her could arms and tries to smile but fails. "It's just me."

"Mmhm," she says and rolls her head onto his chest, right next to his heart. "Stay."

"I will," he whispers as he pictures Lissa's angry face. His hands tighten and he pulls Jill close. Perhaps it isn't too late to save the only thing he has left to love. He looks down into Jill's wide eyes and smiles for real this time. "I'll be with you always."

Eddie and Jill are like my favorite couple, after Sydney and Adrian of course. I wish we'll have more of them in Silver Shadows! REVIEW! Let me know what you think!
