Glorious beings of beauty! My heart swells with love at all the love you share with me. Thanks for being dolls, you sweethearts! ;)
Prompt: Klaroline, Koroline brotp. Preferably supernatural, but if you take it in another direction, all good!
I present to you, a little spin on a classic! It may not be brotp but it's what my mind came up with at the time. Nostalgia, amiright?
An Old Fashioned, with a Twist
"Oh. It's you."
"Join us for a drink?"
"Mm. Thanks, but I'd rather die of thirst."
Klaus stood up from his seat, touching her elbow gingerly to stop her. "At least let me acquit myself."
She glanced down at his hand on her arm, then back up at him, ignoring the little jolt to her heart. She pulled her arm away, trying hard to make her glare believable. "Take a hint."
"Oh come on," Kol chimed in. "Don't break his heart."
She glanced at Kol but Klaus was shaking his head. "Ignore him."
"Are you seriously that desperate that you have to cruise bars with your brother to pick up girls?"
"Not girls, darling. Victims." Kol smiled broadly when she scoffed in disgust.
"One drink," Klaus implored again. At her hesitance, he added in childlike playfulness, "Get to know me a little, Caroline. I dare you."
She looked up with a small groan that ended in a laugh. She gritted her teeth and finally faced him again. "Fine," she agreed with a pop of the F. "But in no way does this make us even."
He smiled, charming as always, and retook his seat beside his brother. Pressing her lips together, Caroline took up the stool beside him, shedding her jacket and bearing more skin than she was comfortable with. She was the distraction, after all, but it didn't mean she had to tolerate Kol's wandering eyes.
"Kol, right?" He gave a little half nod. "You're drooling." Klaus laughed into his drink while his brother looked abashed, turning to try to subtly dab at his lip for fear of her quip coming true. She smiled to herself in satisfaction when he did, leaning forward to signal the bartender and order her drink. "So. Why are you two here?"
"Kol was in need of some social interaction."
"What do you expect after being boxed up for the last century or so?"
"Don't exaggerate. It was eighty years."
"Big difference." Caroline rolled her eyes, sipping her appletini demurely. Kol leaned past his brother, smirking once again. "However, the view has definitely improved."
Klaus' face went taut. "One more word and I'll tear out your liver."
"Go ahead," Caroline challenged, raising a brow when his attention turned to her. "He's only your brother, right?"
Klaus swallowed, almost sneering at her before seizing his drink to swallow his words along with it.
Kol was beyond amused. "Oh I like her."
"You know, for someone who wanted to make up for his wrongdoings, you're not doing a very good job."
"It's not an easy task to accomplish when you're snarling down my neck, love."
She scoffed. "You wish."
He tilted his head, eyes alight with wicked delight. "And if I do?"
"Something tells me you're not that lucky, Nik." Klaus eyes closed momentarily before his head turned sharply toward his brother. Kol raised his brows innocently.
"I'm half a drink away from walking out," Caroline reminded him. "You wanted me to get to know you, so talk."
Klaus straightened, refocusing his attention on her. "On the contrary, I want to talk about you. Your hopes and dreams, everything you want in life." Kol snorted beside him.
Caroline's eyes narrowed in intrigue. "I'm too smart to be seduced by you," she half-flirted.
He grinned. "Well that's why I like you."
She pursed her lips, trying as she might not to smile, but her efforts proved futile. She succumbed to the little breathless laugh that huffed out of her and downed another gulp of her drink in response.
"And what if she doesn't like you?" Kol pointed out. "You're coming on far too strong, Nik. You're liable to scare the poor girl away."
"He has a point," Caroline agreed.
"Isn't there another sibling you could go and torment?"
"You brought me here. I didn't ask to be third-wheeling your little date."
"It's not a date!" Klaus and Caroline insisted simultaneously. They turned and gawked at one another awkwardly.
"Right, because if it were the two of you would be locked at the lips as opposed to at each other's throats right now. I'm merely a buffer."
Caroline gaped in horror while Klaus' expression filled with rage.
"I'm leaving," she immediately declared, snatching her coat and rushing toward the door.
Klaus stood, watching her weave through patrons, adrenaline rushing through his veins.
"Well she certainly looks good walking away from you," Kol teased.
"I'll take that as a challenge."
