A/N: Have I told you that you guys are the greatest? Lmao. Thank you so so much for sticking with this story. I absolutely adore writing it, and hope that it becomes one of your favs. Vihan is such a beautiful, fun, awkward thing to write about, and adding Vegeta in the mixture just makes my heart warm lmao. Anyway, we are approaching the end of my special, short project! One or two chapters left. Thank you so much for keeping me inspired!
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!
All I need to do is show her I care.
Gohan was beaming brightly, soaring high above the city towards his quaint home in the woods where his special little lady was waiting on him. That beautiful, dark haired, blue eyed little lady that was such a spitfire. Before he could get too distracted in his thoughts about Videl, a familiar beloved voice was heard coming from an unknown location.
"Gohan!"
D-Dad?
The laughter he missed so much filled his ears, a warm smile crossing Gohan's already happy face. Goku rarely communicated telepathically through King Kai; only doing so when there was something important to be said. Gohan didn't mind it, really. His father was on a grand journey of his own, fully knowing Gohan was in great hands and great health.
Still, his eyes always slightly swelled up whenever these rare conversations occurred.
"King Kai has been telling me about how much you've been training for the tournament, and all of the wonderful things you have done to save the townspeople!" Although Gohan couldn't see him, he knew his father was flashing his signature smile. "I'm so proud of you, son."
Gosh, thanks Dad! Gohan thought for a minute to himself before continuing. You wouldn't believe whose been training with me!
Goku's chuckle returned. "I know, I know! I can't believe you survived Vegeta's training!" His laughter suddenly turned nervous. "Well, I suppose if you could last a year with Piccolo, you could last a few weeks with Vegeta."
Gohan returned the laugh, remembering some other vital piece of information. Oh, Dad!
"Yeah, Gohan?"
I've also been training with Goten! Oh, gosh Dad! Wait until you meet him. He's so strong for his age, and looks like a mini version of you!
There was a sudden sadness in Goku's voice, causing Gohan to frown. "I can't believe this will be my first time seeing him... Do you think he'll like me, Gohan?"
The question came as a surprise to the eighteen year old. He knew his father didn't really understand what the word "family man" meant, but he sacrificed his life so that he and the rest of the world could live in peace. To be honest, it hurt like hell when he made the decision. But as Gohan grew older, the pain became less and less as he realized Goku was just doing his duty; being a hero. His hero. The Earth's hero. Gohan just couldn't hold it against him; he knew he loved his family, but the love of people in general was just who his father was. So when it came to his concern about Goten, it puzzled the older brother. Perhaps his father was beginning to feel some guilt in his decision...
"You know, I have to pay for long distant calls!" The blubbering voice of King Kai joked, causing Gohan to snap out of his thoughts. He sweatdropped slightly.
Uh, sorry, King Kai! Sorry! Anyway Dad, I know for a fact he's going to love you. I think the little guy is the most excited about your return!
The usual joy came back to Goku's voice when hearing the words, causing Gohan to smile again. "Man, I can't wait to come home! I hope you've been taking care of your mom like I asked, son. I love you both so much."
Gohan blinked a couple of times. He couldn't recall his father ever saying those three words about his mother and him, not even about food. Just like Vegeta's love for Bulma and Trunks, Gohan just knew that Goku felt the same for his wife and sons. His heart suddenly warmed up thinking about his father's words, the puzzlement leaving him completely.
A Saiyan was able to say those words.
A Saiyan with the same heart as Gohan's.
"You still there, son?"
Gohan shook his head, blushing slightly at the fact he keeps getting distracted by his thoughts. Yeah, Dad. Mom is great.
"Good," the sudden sly tone shift of his voice caused Gohan to squirm mid-flight. "Now King Kai has been telling me some interesting things..."
... Like what?
"Oh you know," Goku's voice was in full-on teasing mode. "A giiiiiiirl."
The boy became flustered. Alright well, nice talking to you Dad! See you in a few days!
The laughter from both the deity and the Saiyan hero took over his thoughts. "I can't wait to meet her, Gohan. Don't get married while I'm away!"
"Goku..."
"What!? I don't want them living in the same house!"
"Is that what you think marriage is?"
"Well... I found out at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament that it's not a food. I actually like being married! ChiChi does so many things-"
Dad, stop!
"Whoops, sorry, son! I forgot we were still connected!" Goku's laughter was heard one last time. "Keep making me proud, Gohan!"
Trust me, Dad. I will. Just come home soon.
The voices suddenly vanished, but Gohan knew his father was winking back at him. Shaking away the embarrassment that King Kai ratted him out about Videl, his small, cozy, and beautiful home suddenly came into his line of vision. Sensing Videl's ki, his heart thumped a bit as he landed gently before his front door. He soothed his tan pants down on last time, and adjusted his tie.
Alright, ol' boy. You got this.
He took a deep breath, and reached for the knob when Videl's heartwarming laughter suddenly filled his ears, followed by the giggle fits from his little brother and Trunks. He blinked a couple of times, remembering they promised to entertain her while he went to chat with Uncle Vegeta. He shook his head, not really believing the two young boys would comply.
Gohan finally turned the knob and opened the door, making a grand entrance with a goofy grin on his face. The five sets of eyes at the dinner table went immediately over to him, their faces red with laughter. Ox and ChiChi were seated next to each other on one side; Videl in a half-Saiyan sandwich between Goten and Trunks. There was a scrapbook opened to a certain page he loathed and swore he was going to burn it when his mother wasn't around.
Right in the smack dap center of the red book, was a picture of baby Gohan, buck-ass naked save the four-star Dragon Ball hat on his head.
A mortified look crossed his face, as his eye began to twitch and face was reddening. He stumbled over his words, speaking in tongue while the five raised their eyebrows at him, trying their hardest to stifle their laughter.
"UH!"
"What?" Trunks crossed his arms over his chest, smirking proud;y and arrogantly. "You said to keep her entertained."
"UH!"
"Yeah!" Goten laughed so boyishly, raising the naked Gohan picture up high so it was even more on display. "What's more entertaining than baby Gohan?"
"UH!"
Chi Chi rolled her eyes. "Close your mouth, son. You look ridiculous."
Finally able to find his words again, Gohan stamped his foot a couple of times angrily, causing the house to shake slightly. He pointed a deadly finger at the two little friends, causing them to gulp. "THAT'S IT! I HAVE HAD IT!" He marched his way to the table, his mother's face in her palms at her son's outburst. All she wanted was a nice, quiet dinner with her son's rich, future wife. Not a hissy fit. Coming closer, he froze midstep, Videl suddenly becoming the only thing in the room.
The girl had her hair loose and out of her infamous pigtails, perfectly curled at the ends and resting on her chest that was covered by a red a-line dress. He gulped, suddenly forgetting his rage. He had never seen her looking girly before. She looked so fragile; nothing like the fighter he was use to.
It's like I could crush her if I held her too tight...
It was something he really wanted to do at the moment.
"Take a seat, Gohan." ChiChi warned, pointing a finger at the end of the table, and then looking at the still terrified boys. "Either you two behave, or you're gone, ya got that!?"
The boys gulped, nodding obediently. Goten remembered a few nights ago how ChiChi absolutely forbade him to hang out with Trunks, believing it was him who taught Goten the "no-no words". After pleading with her, she gave in to her little boy and allowed Vegeta's only son to remain his friend. After all, he was the only one the boy had. And the only one he wanted.
As Gohan made his way to the chair that already had a few plates of food in front of it for him, he never took his eyes off Videl. She was returning the favor, stunned by how handsome he looked in his tuxedo. She bit her bottom lip, finally looking down at the rice before her and then up again at ChiChi. "Thank you so much for inviting me tonight. This is so, so good!"
Chi Chi beamed, knowing her food was the absolutely best as it could kill the appetite of any Saiyan. "Why thank you, dear. You know, you're not as bad as I thought." Videl blushed, but a grateful smile formed on her face.
Gohan was finally able to stop focusing on the beauty and more on the situation before him. A sigh of relief escaped his lips. This was so much better than the first time Chi Chi and Videl met, where they fought over him. Now the two almost seemed like they were getting close. Sighing happily again, Gohan picked up his fork ready to dive into his food.
"So," his mother's voice suddenly cut in. "When are you going to marry my son?"
"WHAT!?" The two teenagers shouted, their faces reddening while looking at Chi-Chi, then at each other, then back at Chi-Chi. Ox laughed, patting his daughter's back.
"Oh, darling, it's way too soon for that!" Ox's roar grew slightly more, causing Goten and Trunks to be infected by it as they started chuckling. "Give them a day or two!"
Gohan looked in disbelief at his grandfather, pointing an accusing finger. "I thought you were on my side!"
"Gohan wants to marry you so he can do the kissy kissy face with you all day!" Goten was holding onto Videl's arm, laughter increasing as the girl's face turned redder and redder. Trunks soon joined in.
"Yeah!" He nudged the red-face gal and winked. "Maybe people won't think he's such a nerd with you around."
Gohan melted into his seat, wondering why people were always abusing him and his kindness. Don't they remember he killed freaking Cell!? Didn't they freaking care!? He shook his head. Of course they didn't. They all had to keep it hush hush, especially around the daughter of Mr. Satan. He looked over at her reluctantly, noticing their faces were the same color.
Feeling bad for the sudden and unfair embarrassment, he sat up and spoke. "Mom, can I excuse myself for a moment to have a word with Videl?"
Chi-Chi was about to argue, but she looked at the poor children's red faces and reluctantly agreed. "Alright. But make it quick, son. I don't want your food growing more cold."
"I'm sorry about that," Gohan scratched the back of his head. Videl had followed him to the porch where they shared a sweet moment nights ago. "My mom is kinda... just out there with things, ya know?"
Videl laughed, the harmonious sound causing Gohan's skin to get goosebumps. "Hey, don't worry about! I like her, a lot."
The half-Saiyan smiled warmly at her, looking her over for the nth time tonight. The way her cheeks were so flushed against her alabaster skin made her look even more like an angel than he could have ever thought possible. "Gosh, you're so great for putting up with all of them. I know they're crazy, but they're my family."
"Even the purple-haired boy?"
"Yeah," Gohan's smile remained, remembering his uncle. "Trunks is family, too."
Videl looked down at her feet, seemingly nervous. Gohan was about to ask why out of pure concern, but she started to speak as her eyes remained on her matching red sandals. "I know I shouldn't ask, but I overheard your mom talking to your grandpa about your dad."
Gohan's smile was replaced with worry. He began to sweatdrop. "Oh, yeah? What did you hear, huh?"
Videl looked up at him, her blue eyes searching for the reason why he suddenly sounded so flustered. "N-Nothing! Just that he's coming home. I know it's none of my business, but where has he been?"
The boy laughed nervously, realizing he had nothing to worry about. "Oh, that. Well, he's been gone for a long time so a woman is bringing him back so he can compete in the World Martial Arts Tournament."
"So...he's with another woman?"
Gohan scratched his head, dumbfounded. "I guess you could say that."
Strength wasn't the only thing he inherited from Goku.
"Well," Videl confidently stuck her chin up at him, causing Gohan to smirk. He loved when she was like this. "It doesn't matter if he's competing or not. My dad will beat him."
I wouldn't bet zeni on that...
"I dunno, my dad's pretty strong!" Gohan whistled. "But I guess you're right. Nobody can beat Mr. Satan. He's the strongest man in the world!"
The dark-haired girl eyed him suspiciously, noting his sarcasm. "Just wait and see bub!" Videl jabbed his muscular chest. "Just wait and see!"
Gohan's smirk grew at her gesture. "I guess we will." He suddenly snatched her hand that was on his chest, causing her eyes to light up and cheeks to blush madly. They were staring at each other intensely for a moment, before he started sensing an infamous ki coming from behind him and froze.
"Boy!" it called. "Aren't you forgetting something!?"
Lmaoooo! I know in the anime Videl didn't meet or know who Vegeta was until the World Martial Arts Tournament, but I've been dying for them to meet with my little fic so here comes some more torment for Gohan!
Thanks so much guys! :-) Rate and review lovelies!
