Frostfur's POV

I feared for my life as the brown-furred animal began to tower over me. Then the sound… almost like a low-pitched sound of a bird's cry entered my ears. The beasts then froze from their doings and looked towards the direction of the sound. I took the chance to grab my mother by the scruff and under a thick bush.

The animals tried to pursue us, but yet again the bird's cry sounded off and they relentlessly trotted away towards the location of the sound. Once they were out of my sight, I looked over at Whiteheart.

She was covered in heavily bleeding gashes and bite wounds. Her eyes were glazed over and her beautiful snow-colored fur was heavily coated with her own blood. Slowly, the older vixen seemed to lose conscious and fell into an uneasy slumber.

Terrified for my mother's life, I left her under the shaggy bush and began my search for the herbs Whiteheart and I gathered before the horrid beasts gave chase to my mother. I quickly found the bush that Whiteheart must of shoved me into, and started to seek out the important herbs.

Only being able to find the burdock root, a little Goldenrod, and the Ragweed as well as collecting cobwebs from the low branch on a tree and picking some poppy seeds and juniper berries. I tried to hunt out the herb that I needed the most, Marigold.

I remember Whiteheart telling me that Marigold was a golden-like flower that had to be chewed into a poultice and fed or put on the injury of the injured. It could soothe the pain and stop infection from setting in and making it worse. That is what my mother needed the most, or treating her would be pointless. But I could not find any clue of it.

Hanging my head in grief and disappointment, I made my way back to the older vixen. She was still where I had left her, but she seemed to have awaken and was very confused and frightened. She must still be in shock! I thought to myself as I walked over to my mother's side.

I began by feeding the older vixen the burdock and juniper berries to calm her down and give her more strength. Then I chewed the Goldenrod into a poultice and applied it to Whiteheart's wounds before wrapping cobwebs around it. Finally, I gave her some poppy seeds to make her fall asleep for the night.

Sunrise

Whiteheart seemed to be doing a lot better than she had yesterday. She was breathing normally now, but I was still worried about infection setting in. The cobwebs won't be able to protect the wounds for much longer and I still wasn't able to find any Marigold.

Once changing the injured vixen's cobwebs while she was still asleep, I left our temporary home and went to search for, once again, the much-needed Marigold. I came to a stop when I smelled a strange but familiar scent. While looking around, I turned my head at the sound of a twig snap.

Alertly, the fur on my back began to rise as I cautiously sniffed the air for any familiar scent. Suddenly, I heard something rushing towards me and I quickly moved out of the way! Only to see a small, young looking, black and white animal with very deep blue eyes excitedly gazing back at me. The young creature wagged its bushy long tail and hung its tongue out of its mouth.

"Hi! Whats your name?!" the little animal bowed down and wagged his tail even faster. "Do you want to play?! We could play chase or wrestle until one of us submits!"

I was speechless…

He slowed his tail and got back up, then gazed curiously at me with his innocent blue eyes. "Is something wrong? Do you not want to play?" He cocked his head to the side questionably. I had to admit, he looked pretty cute when he did that.

The young animal then started to walk up to me. I moved back instinctually. Hurt, he stopped and gazed at me again.

"I won't hurt you if that is what you are worried about" The little animal wagged his tail again, but more gently.

"What is your name?" He asked again.

I seemed to have found my words and I answered him warily. "Frost…fur…"

It seemed to be enough for him, for he barked excitedly at me! "Frostfur? What kind of name is that?!"

"Whats that suppose to mean?!" I growled, my confidence returning to me with each word I growled.

The black and white animal flattened his ears. "No! I didn't mean it like that! The name… its just unusual" He wagged his black, bushy tail "It actually suits you real well, I mean with you frost colored fur and all"

Something warm started to fill my body as he said that. I wagged my long, bushy tail at him to show I wasn't offended anymore.

"I'm Hawk! You know? Like the biggest and strongest bird in the arctic?!" His blue eyes showed proudness, along with a little slyness. He puffed his chest to emphasize his point.

That was when I got a good look at him. He had a white face, chest, underbelly, and legs. The rest of him was completely black as night. When I gazed into his eyes, they were a deep blue holding innocence and cunning. He was young, but had strong-lean muscles. His tail was longer, but not as bushy as mine. Hawk was also a taller and bigger than me.

"Umm… Frostfur? You there?" Hawk barked, wagging his tail and gazing at me with curiosity.

"Ohh! Yeah. I'm fine, just…" That was when I remembered the reason why I was out here! I looked over at my new friend, maybe he knew where the Marigold is! "Umm. Do you know where I can find Marigold? I need it desperately."

Hawk cocked his head in confusion. "Marigold? What?"

I stared at him. How does he not know what Marigold is? "Umm… it's a flower with golden petals. It's used to ease pain and stop infection. Do you know where I can find it?"

"I think I know what you mean, follow me!" He began to walk away with me following at his flank.

It felt like we were walking forever until he told me we were here. As I looked around I noticed this was the same place Snowstorm and Icewing showed me in my dream!

I hope you enjoyed. So Frostfur met Hawk. He seems like a sweet boy, or is he? Anyway, if you have any questions, like I said on the previous message, leave a review. I will answer it in the next chapter as long as it isn't too personal or if it gives to much detail of the future chapters, the same will go for my other story as well. Until next time, See ya later! SilverWolf out!
