HIII o/ Sorry for the super long hiatus! The writers block and the college life be too strong!
As Ruby laid on the bed's mattress tossing and turning in the blankets she wrapped herself in like a cocoon , she felt uneasy. Ruby checked the clock on the nightstand which read 10:00 PM. The uneasiness grew even more as she was alone with her thoughts which became negative slowly as the days went by ever since the break up. A month has went by since the break up and to say Ruby was worried is an understatement. Ruby knew what she did was insanely selfish but she knew it had to be done so that Weiss's eyes can be opened to the problem at hand. Ruby still loved her despite what happened and she regrets resorting to the break up but she couldn't think of an alternative.
"I hope she hasn't moved on yet" Ruby said as she hugged the pillow tighter but before she was able to indulge in more negative thoughts she heard a knock from the door.
"May I come in?" Rin asked
"Yes"
Rin opened the door and turned on the lights to the guest bedroom which Ruby has been staying in for the past month to give Ruby her dinner. As Rin walked to the rightside of the bed to put the dinner on the nightstand, she noticed something uneasy in Ruby's eyes.
"Are you alright?" Rin asked as she put her hand on Ruby's shoulder.
"Yeah... I am" Ruby said as she tried to cover it up with a smile.
"Ruby you do realize for the past month since you've been staying with me I've been very observant of your emotions and how you act on them. I can tell something is up and you do realize you can tell me anything. Remember I'm here for you..." Rin said as she put her other hand on Ruby's other shoulder to reassure her. This was enough for Ruby to give in and tell Rin what was really worrying her.
"It just... do you think she moved on already? I can't help but think what I did was selfish but..." was all Ruby was able to say when tears blurred her vision and couldn't hold them back anymore. Ruby tried to wipe the tears away but right as she was about to, she felt Rin pry her hands away and wipe her tears for her using the handkerchief she always carries around her. Once Rin finished wiping Ruby's tears, she hugged her red headed friend and patted her on the back to reassure her.
"Ruby, you shouldn't be blaming yourself for what you had to do. How you're blaming yourself for this is like blaming yourself for an earthquake you didn't even cause... You did many things for her and it's her fault for not showing the proper love and affection that's needed to sustain a relationship considering something major such as an anniversary was approaching. Remember, it takes two to make a relationship and she wasn't doing her part."
Ruby nodded as she buried her face into Rin's shoulder after hearing words of reassurance from her friend. When Ruby's cries started to shrink and her tears coming to a halt, Rin broke the embrace to look at Ruby's face and smile in order to add another layer of reassurance for her friend's well being. Ruby reciprocated back with a smile which in return soothed Rin's worries. Rin made her way to the door to let Ruby get her sleep but before she was able to leave, she heard Ruby's voice calling for her.
"Rin, before you go may I ask you a question? Sorry if I've been keeping you from tending to something busy.."
"You're fine, whats up?"
"Just... do you think she still loves me?"
"Remember this saying Ruby, True love never has endings. I can't really give a definitive answer if she does love you because I haven't been there to observe your whole relationship from the beginning to present but what I can say is if she truly loves you, she'll try her best and hardest to prove it to you... even if it means sacrificing the position she has in her company to show that you're the most important thing in her life"
"But... wouldn't that make me selfish if she had to sacrifice that position?"
"I wouldn't call it selfishness but rather what's right in a relationship. To show you care for someone in a relationship you make time for them and show them most importantly they've important and loved. How she was obsessed with her company to the point of neglecting you was unacceptable as putting at least maybe an hour of your day aside to spend time with the person you care about is not hard, especially if you live with them."
"Alright but-"
"Everything will be alright Ruby, just relax. I'm sorry if my words made you worry but seeing you go through that reminded me of myself. I don't want you to go through the pain I went through alone so I want you to think positive and remember I'm always here for you. It's not only me but your sister that you've told me about and her wife that you've also told me about. We're friends remember" Rin said in a cheerful voice that always helped lighten the mood. Ruby felt her worries fade and she replied back with the same cheer in Rin's voice.
"Alrighty Rin!"
"That's the Ruby I know! Remember you're a person with feelings not an island and its perfectly okay to ask for help. Do you understand?"
"I understand!"
"There ya go! Well, I'm off to tend to something quick and then head to bed. Good night!"
"Good night Rin.. thank you once again. I don't know where I would've been without your help and kindness.."
"No problem Ruby and anytime! Sweet dreams!" Rin said as she turned off the light behind her and closed the door. As Ruby wrapped the comforter blanket around herself , she clutched the pendent Weiss gave her on their first date, something she treasured dearly and would wear always.
"I hope we can still be together... I still love you" Ruby said as closed her eyes and drifted to sleep.
"Rise and shine, Ms Grumpy" A voice said as Weiss's eyes slowly started opening with the sun light blinding her vision. Weiss got up to stretch and looked for the source of that voice to see Emilia smiling at her and sitting on the bedroom drawer nightstand with a rusted myrtenaster on her side.
"Emilia, I thought you-"
"You wanna get Ruby back right? Quit moping and show that you want her, dumb ass! Emilia said as she motioned Weiss to get up and go to the bathroom to freshen up. Weiss obeyed and went to the bathroom to wash her face before taking a shower. Emilia on the other hand was outside of the bathroom waiting for Weiss to finish. As she was waiting, Emilia pulled out a cigarette and started smoking to help pass the time. While she was busy smoking, something on the drawer mirror caught her eye. She went to observe and started laughing when she found out what it was that made the situation so ironic.
"What a silly girl" Emilia said as she pulled the taped piece of paper off the drawer mirror.
When Weiss got out of the shower, she was immediately greeted with Emilia and her arms crossed with a wider smile. Weiss took one step but before she could take another Emilia held her hand out to stop her and pulled out the paper she took earlier. The paper in question was a list of dates, presumably meetings for the Schnee Dust Corps, but what made Emilia laugh at the list was the fact that it was named "very important things this year" and the date of Weiss's and Ruby's anniversary wasn't listed at all.
"All this just to get your family's nasty ass approval?" Emilia said but Weiss didn't respond which made Emilia's smile become wider. Weiss went pass Emilia and in to the bedroom's huge closet to get dressed
"Come on girl, he dead already! What's the big deal, gimme a drink!" Emilia said as she went to the bed to sit as she waited for her real counterpart to get dressed. Moments later, Emilia heard the closet door open to reveal Weiss wearing black jeans, a white turtle neck sweater and a red jacket with Ruby's symbol on it. Right as Emilia was about to take another jab towards Weiss, the door opened with Blake calling out for Weiss.
"Weiss, you up?"
"Yeah I am" Weiss said as she looked to her side to see if Emilia was around but only to be met with nothing but absence.
"How are you holding up?"
"I'm doing better than last month"
"Good to hear!"
"yeah just..."
"What is it Weiss?"
"Do you think Ruby has moved on? Knowing how sociable and easy going she is, she must've found someone better than me.." Weiss said as she felt something uneasy trigger within her. Was it worry? Was it maybe a panic attack? Maybe a nervous breakdown?
"Don't think like that Weiss. Remember this is Ruby we're talking about. When you guys were together, she made sure to spend as much time with you as possible and also made sure to say I love you more than once everyday just to show that does indeed love you."
"Wow... Looking back at it I can't believe how lucky I am that Ruby fell for me but now I can't believe how much I screwed up when something good was given to me. I don't deserve her..."
"You shouldn't consider yourself a failure because of what happened. Remember that you're human and we make mistakes. It's about how you fix them is what counts. You crying and thinking of ways to help remedy the situation just shows you care."
"I've pushed her back hard from how I neglected her, I don't know if I'm able to get her back..." Weiss said as she felt tears cloud her vision. Weiss heard footsteps approaching her and opened her eyes to see Blake holding a box of tissues for her. Weiss gladly obliged and grabbed a tissue to wipe her eyes. Blake waited for Weiss's cries to settle and once Weiss's cries did settle, Blake put away the tissues and put her arms on Weiss's shoulders.
"Weiss listen to me. Don't think of the worst case scenario because nothing productive will come from that. Acknowledge that what you did to her wasn't right but what you're doing now to redeem yourself and fix everything is the best thing you can do right now. What you're doing again shows you care and you just want nothing but you and her together again."
"I hope she can see that I really love her and I didn't mean to isolate myself from her. Looking back at it this past month I can't help but think something is wrong with me"
"Weiss, there's nothing wrong with you. You're a smart and wonderful member of our group despite your icy exterior"
"But-"
"Weiss, remember this. Isolation and distrust aren't symptoms of mental illness, but they are an unfortunate byproduct of it. Closing yourself off from others does nothing but worsen the condition you're in. You are human and you require connection and active emotions a way a plant requires that make sense?"
"Alright Blake..." Weiss said as she finished wiping the tears and tear stains from her face. Blake patted Weiss on the back until Weiss tapped her on the shoulder to show that she's alright now.
"Do you need anything else? like a cup of water or?"
"I'm fine Blake, thank you!"
"No problem!, So,do you have any plans or whatsoever for today? any meetings?"
"None, I thought I made it clear that I wouldn't be returning to the SDC until I've fixed what's happening between me and Ruby"
"Glad to hear, was just checking is all. How are you holding up?
"Glad to hear, let's go to the grocery store. Yang is in the car waiting for us. We had an idea that would help you surprise Ruby" Blake smiled which made Weiss smile as well.
"Alright, I'll be with you shortly"
"Great, meet me in the car" Blake said as she exited out of Weiss's bedroom. Weiss went to her drawer to pull out a comb to groom her hair and tie it in its signature knot with it's own hair pin. Once Weiss finished grooming her hair, she directed her attention to the portrait on the drawer's surface of her and Ruby together. Weiss picked it up and kissed it as memories of Ruby played in her head.
"I love you.. so much. I promise to be better" Weiss said as she placed the picture back down. Weiss made her way to the manor's living room and as she was about to reach for the door handle to leave, she heard Emilia.
"Isn't what you're doing a little morbid? I mean you're-"
"Not now" Weiss said as she went outside and closed the manor door behind her. Weiss saw Blake and Yang waving their hands at her as Weiss walked towards them.
"So that's what Ruby's favorite dishes are?" Weiss said as she listened attentively to Yang's lecture about Ruby's favorite foods while they were walking around the grocery store with Blake. Blake was busy pushing the cart with Yang and Weiss following behind. Blake went to the meat section and found a really good deal on beef that was heavily discounted despite the high quality it was in. Blake was too engrossed in finding a good weight for the beef that she didn't realize how her cart was parked in the middle and blocking the aisle.
"Ma'am, can you please move your cart?
"Sure thi-" Blake said as she turned to the source of the voice to see Ruby and Rin.
"Blake?" Ruby said shocked from the encounter.
"Nice to see you Ruby" Blake said with a smile. Ruby's name immediately got Yang and Weiss's attention.
"Nice to see you again Ruby" Yang said cheerfully as she didn't hesitate to pull Ruby in for a big bear hug
"Nice to see you Yang" Ruby said back with the oxygen left inside of her from the force of the hug. Yang let go of Ruby and patted her on the back.
"Thank you for taking care of her" Yang said to Rin
"No problem, glad I can be doing something good"
As Ruby was busy fixing her coat from the hug, she heard a familiar voice call for her name.
"Ruby..."
Ruby and Weiss's eyes finally met for the first time after a month.
There ya go! Finally Rebuilding the broken chapter 9! I don't mean that in negative way just the amount of writers block I experienced was insane. I got extremely busy with college which made this chapter so long to make and when I finally got time I was either too engrossed in a new game or I just wasn't up to write the chapter even though I wanted to make it as early as December. I'm happy this chapter is out and please excuse some errors here and there. Its been a while since I wrote and one of my new years resolutions this year is to write more and finish this story which has been going on since 2015.I'll my best to meet that goal but for now thank you for taking the time to read this and I'm sorry once again it took almost FOREVER for this chapter to come out. If anyone thought I might've taken a year or two long hiatus, I wouldn't blame them honestly xD Thank you for taking the time to read this and I'll see you on the next chapter! I hope you 2019 is treating you well so far and I wish you nothing but greatness! Take care ^.^
